Speaker 1 (00:00):
Mack and Schmidty in the morning on West Michigan's Christmas station,
Star one oh five point seven. Well, okay, morning Schmitty.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Happy Friday, guys.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
You're not getting happiest of Fridays to you. And today
on temperatures out there right now a little above freezing
into the mid thirties around most of West Michigan. Heist
today in the mid forties. And if you thought it was,
you know, cooler yesterday, well we'll get used to that
because next week I see a lot of highs in
the thirties. Oh wow, yeah, Well it t is the season,
I feel like, after all. But this weekend you can
(00:30):
copy and paste the weather from today. Going to be cloudy,
mid forties or upper forties on Sunday. So it's not
gonna be a bad weekend to get out and have
some fun.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
We'll have fifty on Sunday.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
I was going to say the exact opposite. I'm going
to go inside and have some wine, beer and food.
I'm gonna tell you, guys. I went to the Cheers
for Charity, the ip gala last night, and it is
going to be an incredible year. There were so many
people and all the proceeds went to Hospice of Michigan,
which was really cool. But I got a chance to
kind of sip my way around. I started a little
(00:59):
so I had a chardinet, this incredible carrot cake from
one twenty three. I saw this awesome vegan spot tweeties
that's new this year. They had Caribbean food. I mean,
it is going to be such a fun time today
and tomorrow. It's open to the public. Got one last
shot of tickets at seven point thirty. But I just
got to tell you from the little peak that I
(01:21):
did get last night, this is gonna be a definite
spot to hit. I'm there later this afternoon at four,
right when it opens. It's really really good this year.
Good question for you then, because I like to go
every year and walk around. There's so many fabulous restaurants
and obviously all the spirits and wines and everything else.
But did you see nothing but cakes? Were they back
(01:42):
again this year? You know if you saw them or not.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
But like, this was a more intimate thing.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
It wasn't all the restaurants and things like that, but
the stuff that the people that were there. I got
to talk to a ton of chefs that were part
of it. I mean, it's gonna be really cool. I
think there's still a few pairing dinners that are left
if you're looking for a cool dait night like that
was a really good time.
Speaker 5 (02:01):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
It's the celebrities goop. On Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
Well full House star John Stamos is firing back at
critics who slammed him for wearing that bald cap while
shaving his friend Dave Coolier's head. As of course, Dave
battles an aggressive form of cancer. I had some of
that backlash in the story earlier this week. Well John's
not having it. TMZ caught up with him at LAX
and said he's actually embarrassed for the haters spending all
(02:32):
the time on this when what they should be doing
is making those appointments to get themselves checked out.
Speaker 6 (02:37):
When I started seeing his foot back, what I couldn't
figure out. I still don't know at what they should
be doing instead of making silly little videos or doing comments,
they should call their doctor, make an appointment, like that's
the whole point of this, you know, and spend Dave's message,
you know.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
God bless Everyboddy.
Speaker 7 (02:55):
I don't.
Speaker 8 (02:56):
I don't, you know, it wasn't.
Speaker 6 (02:58):
I don't look at stuff most of.
Speaker 8 (03:00):
The time, I don't, but this one really hurt me
because I just mainly because I didn't understand it. I'm
just sad that people took it. The ones that did
didn't all over. I'm also said that they don't have
anything better to do. What they should do is make
a fireman to get checked up. Dave's very clear about it.
I'm gonna I just had a great, you know, check up.
(03:20):
But but the point is that I just I'm embarrassed
for people that they waste time on this when all
I was doing was cheering up a friend.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
Yeah, and he does give an explanation for why he
didn't shave his own head in solidarity.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
He starts a new show next week.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Yeah that, I mean, honestly, Okay, I'll be surprised if
John Stamos's hair isn't insured by somebody schmidde.
Speaker 7 (03:44):
Like I got it.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
There's possibly millions of dollars of that hair.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
Martha Stewart's turkeys live to see another holiday.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
The lifestyle guru who does raise.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
Her own turkeys on her super Bougie farm, says there's
some now to slaughter any of her homegrown poultry this year,
because in fact, her fam is kind of skipping out
on the traditional Thanksgiving. She was on the Today Show
yesterday showing off one of her new dishes, a brioche
stuffing filled roast pumpkin.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
I have a lot of vegetarians in my family.
Speaker 9 (04:18):
Yeah, and although I raised my own chicken on my
own turkeys, they have been pardoned this year.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Yeah, so they haven't. Oh yeah, they've been pardoning and
we're gonna eat only vegetarian yep.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
So the turkeys are good, guys. Turkeys are fine.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Do you feel like if you had a little bit
of an a state, I'm sure like Martha has, and
you're raising a few turkeys on there, that you could
look at those things all year long, feed it all
year long and then be like Thanksgivings coming up and
you're looking plenty plump, buddy. I don't know what I
could do.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
We do it up north every year with the cows,
and nobody has had any problems yet.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
We even name those ones.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
Finally, Peta is pod at Yukon. If you missed the
story a couple of days ago, it was a very
big night for head coach Gino Oriam. He was the
most winning coach in D one basketball, and they ended
up bringing out a live goat on.
Speaker 10 (05:09):
The court and finally, from one goat to another, congratulations
on becoming the all time winning US coach in D
one college basketball, Gino Horima.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
You can hear the crowd like, oh, that is a
real live goat. Well, Peta not impressed. They have fired
off a big old letter saying they could tell the
goat was visibly anxious, and to make matters worse, the
person leading it either didn't notice or didn't care that
his collar was digging into his neck. The organization said
they'll be sending you Khan a letter later this week
(05:43):
urging the school to make this cruel court side spectacle
its last, writing in part, the University of Connecticut can't
con people into thinking it's okay to subject a stressed
out animal to the chaos of bright lights and screaming fans.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
Leave it to Peter to take it to another level. Altogether,
it's a goat in a stadium to make a quick thing.
Is that different than anybody using a mascot anywhere in
the country.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
You decide videos up with your scoop a West Michigan
Star dot.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Com sometimes because I get a good feeling. Yeah, well,
TG if hopefully already feeling good knowing you're going into
the weekend, but we'll am things up even more. It
is feeling good with Starto five point seven Mackatsmindy here
this morning, and I think this is just a really cool
event going on this weekend. I wanted to tell you about,
(06:35):
especially if you are a pickleball fan, if you're a
purveyor of the paddle. We'll get ready for a big
event this weekend that will be going for not only
a new Guinness World record, but also going to be
helping out people right here in our community. This is
awesome all in pick Aball Jim and Byron Center hosting
a tournament tomorrow and Sunday. And when I say and
I mean and the whole time they're trying to keep
(06:57):
the game going for a world record thirty I have
continuous hours, NonStop pickleball for thirty five hours. To top
it off during the attempts, It's pretty cool. All in
members and the Ken County Sheriff's Office is gonna be
squaring off in a tournament to raise money for Special
Olympics Michigan, one of our favorites. So Tomorrow seven am
(07:17):
to ten pm and then Saturday eight am to seven pm.
The round robin style tournament's gonna go on. But then
those balls gonna keep bouncing all night long to support
the athletes over at Special Olympics of Michigan. You can
actually go buy and compete in it if you want.
You can just watch the tournament. There's gonna be food trucks,
all sorts of prizes and stuff all inpickleball dot com
(07:37):
if you want to check it out. But yeah, just
shout out to those guys for do it hit for
thirty five hours straight. That's awesome, all right me.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
Ninety three year old Steve Young. He is a huge
fan of Antioch Community High School, right outside of Chicago.
When I say huge fan, I mean this guy has
not missed a single high school football game since nineteen
forty six. He's been to every basketball, softball, and volleyball match.
(08:05):
He goes to golf, tennis, He even hits up bowling tournaments.
In fact, he is quite the super fan. More than
twenty sports. He makes sure to be there for every
single one for those kids who might not have anyone
else cheering them on. For the sidelines. This is so cool.
He even goes to band concerts. CBS sat down with
(08:26):
him and he pointed out there was only one time
he came close to missing a game. It was a
car crash in a thunderstorm, and even that couldn't stop him.
Speaker 9 (08:35):
I had eleven broken balls, functures left alung and while
I was laying on a stretcher like a hit by
lady knocking out for the stretcher.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
And you got hit by lightning while you're on the stretcher.
Speaker 9 (08:45):
And a stretcher. They got me in the hospital and
one dutches he's not gonna make it. And you guys
don't know what she's talking about. I said, I got
the games that go to.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (08:58):
That pretty much sums up Steve Young. It's incredible. And
just the other day he was officially inducted into the
Hall of Fame as the first ever super fan for
Antioch Community High School. And when you think about it
and how old he is, he says, nothing stopping him.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
You're not gonna live forever. You're gonna miss a game.
Who says.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
He is the most delightful man. I'll put the story
up for you at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Just name the football field of the basketball court.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
After the guys for everything, every sports.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
Totally cow that's unbelievable.
Speaker 5 (09:34):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
It's the celebrities Scoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
Well it was breaking scoop last night. A deal is
a deal that means just smolette. The actor's conviction in
that hate crime hoax out of Chicago has been reversed
and he cannot be tried again. This is according to
the Illinois Supreme Court. The High court ruled yesterday Jesse's
deal with Cook County prosecutors when they originally dropped the
(10:04):
case against him, had to be honored. State's attorney Kim Fox,
struck a plea deal with the actor, requiring him to
forfeit his ten grand bond and then do fifteen hours
of volunteer community service. The court's ruling says, because Jesse
held up his end of the deal and actually did
eighteen hours of service, he should not have been subject
to a second prosecution. And that's when he was convicted
(10:27):
of felony disorderly conduct and briefly sent to jail. In
its ruling, the court said, we resolve a question about
the state's responsibility to honor the agreements it makes with defendants.
In its decision, the court simply said the state is
bound by the agreement now, while Special Prosecutor Dan K.
Webb issued a statement saying he was very disappointed with
(10:50):
this decision and respectfully disagreed. As for Justee Smolett's attorney,
they're very thrilled with this.
Speaker 11 (10:56):
The emotion I would describe is one of relief, and
he's very happy and of course grateful to the Supreme
Court for their decision and for you know, not to
be condescending and we're doing.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
The right thing.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
Yeah, he said that this entire prosecution was never based
on facts.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
It was vindictive.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
I'm sorry. I was going to say, don't we feel
like this is the he got out of legal consequences
simply because of a technicality.
Speaker 4 (11:25):
I mean, everybody's saying like, this doesn't mean he's not guilty.
It means that who weren't crossing their t's and dott
in their eyes on this and here's what we do. Diddy, however,
is back in court today once again asking for bail,
and this time he's accusing federal prosecutors of showing the
judge and edited version of that Cassie violence video in
(11:49):
order to make him look more dangerous than he actually is.
This is an interesting take. His attorneys filed new docs
yesterday ahead of his bail hearing scheduled for today, accusing
prosecutors of mys characterizing and concealing critical facts, including allegedly
editing the sequence of events from that surveillance video of
what went down back in March of twenty sixteen.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
They said, had the judge seen a.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
Complete, unedited version, it would not have made him look
nearly as powerfully dangerous sand obstructive as he was. Diddy
is saying there's no evidence of a freak off here,
like prosecutors have also been saying, rather a domestic dispute
in which he ran down the hall of the hotel
to recover his clothes and cell phone, going on to
(12:35):
say all the video is a sad glimpse into a
decade long consensual relationship, no other evidence of anything else.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
It's the argument, like you guys missed it in between
when I was shoving her down and grabbing her by
the hair. I was also giving her a hug and
patted around the back like I don't know what he's
even trying to say.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
Finally, it was such a special night last night at
Little Caesar's Arena in Detroit, as pavldot Suk got to
be celebrated thanks to his induction into the Hockey Hall
of Fame earlier this month. You'll know he was traded
to the Arizona Coyotes back in June of twenty sixteen
as a salary cap move before his departure for the
(13:12):
KHL in Russia. Well, yesterday he signed a one day
contract so he could retire as a Red Wing. It
was very cool. He even did the ceremonial pup drop,
and in his press conference he says his time with
the Red Wings was so incredibly special.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
It's awesome, it's.
Speaker 9 (13:32):
Good. Fourteen years, it's wood memory, it's an.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
Old it was a fun row man. I'm so jealous.
My brother and my friend were there last night. They
said it was just such a really awesome moment.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
The magic Man, Pavel Datsu counna be remembered as a
Red Wings great forever.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
All right, all of your Scoop at West Michigan Star
dot com.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
Good morning to you. It's back in Schmitte, and of
course we are now six days until Turkey Day. SCHMITTI
and you guys have discovered who in the family is
not the expert chef.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (14:01):
I don't know if we've discovered it. This is definitely
going to be a research based endeavor. But everyone knows
if you're talking about getting together, especially with your extended family,
you have the people that you trust with dishes, and
you have the people that you don't. For instance, I
am in charge of the relish and or derb side
of things for next Thursday. We've got I think, man,
(14:24):
I talk about eighteen people come into the house.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
It's going to be passed.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Wait a second, you said relish, Yeah, is that not
made of the things that you hate?
Speaker 2 (14:32):
Most of this that my mom calls it.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
We're talking black olives green, Yeah, she calls it, like yeah,
So obviously, because I know my strengths and weaknesses, mine's
going to be entirely store bought.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Like I'm not cooking. Nobody trusts my cooking.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
I don't want anyone to be spending Black Friday getting
to their goal weight is the most respectful way I'll
put it. But we're in this group thread with my brothers,
and so we're figuring out who's doing what. My one
brother is bringing roles because once again, he's very much
like me. And then my sister in law's making her
homemade cheese ball, which I trust, she's a phenomenal cook.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
But then there's my littlest brother.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
And he's like, he's a pretty salty dude, and we're
never really sure what he's gonna be doing. We didn't
even know if he was coming until very recently, okay,
And he tells us, I may be making apple turnovers
if they go well tomorrow morning as in today, and
we all didn't want to say anything. It was about
half an hour break in the group chat until my
(15:31):
brother Adam goes right, so if they don't go well,
and he got so so like hurt by this, so offended.
I'm like, bro, that's a very intense thing to bring,
Like you are taking dessert for a holiday that you
showed up last year with liquor.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Like that's a very big step.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
And I know you've got the bad cooks and the
good cooks, and I'm interested and you calling them out.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
See it's it's funny because I feel like there's a
little brother or youngest sibling bias and maybe it's justified,
maybe it's not. But like in my family, my youngest
sibling is my youngest brother, Luke, who happens to be
a chef. He is a cook. That is what he
does for a living. He works for Toast in Detroit.
But throughout the years he has tried to basically one
(16:21):
up everyone in our family when it comes to cooking,
because we all really like to do it. We all
put a lot of effort in when it comes to
family gatherings. And I remember a year where Luke tried
to make us all sushi no no, no, no, no,
no sushi rolls noo on the fourth of July, and
it just became this thing where it was like, it's
not about you, It's about the fact that you chose
raw fish, but the thing to cook for all of
(16:42):
us for your first meal. And it's like, you know,
I'm not.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
Trusting anybody outside of a very reputable sushi spot for.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
That books Mack and Schmidty in the Morning on Star
one oh five point seven, Spillin.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
See Take Time spill the.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
Two sweetheart, that's right, it's I. So we're just spilling
your tea tea time right now. Where we take your dirt,
your gossip, the thing's going on in your life, and
ask you what you would do if you found yourself
in that situation as the people we've got today, shminnik.
Who's the holidays? Well, they always bring a little drama.
Speaker 4 (17:14):
With them, and do they bring everyone with them? That's
what this sister is asking. Do you bring a significant
other brand new to the fan dinner? Hey guys, my
sister has a new boyfriend, but it's only been a
few weeks, so my parents did not extend him the
invite for family dinner.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
My sister's pretty ticked.
Speaker 4 (17:32):
Told me she's gonna wait until halfway through the meal,
set up her iPad and FaceTime him into dinner.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
Is that rude? Should I give my parents the heads up?
Speaker 7 (17:42):
Now?
Speaker 4 (17:42):
There is a lot here that we do not know,
and I don't I don't know the sister, So I
don't want to say that this is correct or not.
But if your parents aren't extending the invite, it makes
me wonder what your dating history looks like.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
How about just the fact that you've only been dating
for a few weeks and you think that this is
like odd that they're like, I would rather not have you.
Just bring the guys.
Speaker 4 (18:04):
Just start half our listeners say bring him height. He's like,
what's the big deal? The more the merrier, Manny says,
it doesn't matter either way, it depends on how serious.
But honestly, bring him Kristin Gosh, Thanksgiving is a time
to extend kindness. Why not just invite him? But Jessica says,
mm hmm, Thanksgiving not the time to meet a brand
(18:25):
new significant other. You need to tell your parents immediately.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
About your sister's plan.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
Vessie, there's the nark sister right there, ready to tattle
at the first opportunity.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
No, not the nark sister.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
This is the oldest sister, And I can tell you
right now, this is the one that has to make
sure all of the other siblings are organized and in line.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
And well behaved.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
Pretty sure?
Speaker 4 (18:47):
Can I tell you I'm an oldest sister and let
me understand exactly what she is going through because that's
what we got to do every holiday.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
I think we may have struck a nerve right there.
Do you have a conversation on Facebook and Instagram at
West Michigan Star and as always, send us here dere too.
We want to know what's going on in your life?
Where's that gossip? We'll keep you anonymous, just like today,
hit us up again at West Michigan.
Speaker 5 (19:08):
Stock, Movies, Music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
It's the celebrities Goop. On Star one oh five point.
Speaker 4 (19:19):
Seven, supermodel Kara Delvine reminiscing about her time living with
best friend Taylor Swift and admits.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
She really took her for a ride.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
During a conversation for Interview magazine, the model revealed she
actually moved in with Taylor for a bit following a
really rough breakup. She says, I was going through it
bad and she let me live with her. But we
are very different people. She's very homely, and because she
looked after me so well, I'm wanting to get her
(19:49):
into a little bit of trouble. Not trouble, but I
definitely took her for a bit of a wild ride,
Kara added, just to get her to blush is always
so great. She also spoke about Taylor's humor, saying the
singer can actually roast anyone, adding the.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
Thing about Taylor.
Speaker 4 (20:08):
I have seen her do a speech at someone's wedding before,
and the entire thing was a roast. She is one
of the funniest, most clever people I know, and while
anybody could roast her pretty easily, at the same time,
she could f everybody else up even harder.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
She said.
Speaker 4 (20:25):
The two of them learned a lot about each other
in that time living together. And while Taylor is still
pretty homely and would rather just kind of host people
at her place, when you see her and Kara on
those nights out, that's a very big deal.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Everybody needs a friend like that.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
Right, Oh yeah, naiolse two seem to have so much
fun together. This is so interesting.
Speaker 4 (20:44):
John Bennet Ramsey is back in the news following a
big Netflix docuseries that is coming out, of course, the
case Still Cold, twenty eight years later after the death
of the little girl and to her dad. John Ramsey
actually joining the Today Show yesterday talking a bit about
(21:05):
this Netflix doc and saying he's hoping that this puts
kind of renewed pressure on the Boulder, Colorado Police Department,
but at the same time, there's a very specific reason
he's doing what he's doing.
Speaker 7 (21:18):
I'm doing this for the sake of my children and
my grandchildren. This cloud over our family's name needs to
be lifted. They need to be able to go on
and close this chapter and go on with their lives.
It's hard on them. And you know, we've been maligned
and our family reputation has been tarnished, and I'm going
to do my best to clear that up for the
(21:39):
sake of my children and we. You know today, finding
the killer is not going to change my life.
Speaker 1 (21:49):
I've lost Joab and A.
Speaker 7 (21:50):
It's not going to bring job at A back.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
I would like.
Speaker 7 (21:53):
To close this chapter so we can be more rest Yeah.
Speaker 4 (22:01):
Boulder Police responding to some of those disparaging commons, saying
it's an unspeakable crime. This tragedy has never left our hearts,
and the department is committed to following up on every lead.
We're continuing to work with DNA experts and our law
enforcement partners until this tragic case is solved. Netflix's cold
case Who Killed John Bene Ramsey drops November twenty fifth.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
I mean, it's been going on so long. Jbitddy, you
are always my expert on serial killers and unsolved crimes
and things like that if you've watched a bunch of
stuff on the John Benet Ramsey killing, we actually haven't. Really,
it's just curious who.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
You've got a.
Speaker 4 (22:37):
Ton out there, but it doesn't surprise me. And when
you look at DNA and family genealogy sites now they
are finding cold case people from thirty forty fifty years ago. Finally,
what a wild moment for Will and Grace after Sean
Hayes who went to the emergency room not once, but
twice in one night to literally get paddled back to
(22:59):
life and hid it from his husband. The revelation came
out during a new episode of the SmartLess podcast. They
were actually interviewing guest Hugh Grant, who was talking about
struggling with the after effects of a long transatlantic flight.
Hugh saying, it's really brutal. I just don't think I
can do it anymore. I feel like my heart is
made of Plato. That's when co host Jason Bateman said, well,
(23:22):
Shawn's got a great doctor for you, and Sewan opened
up about this story. He said it was crazy. He
had to drive himself to cedar CYANAI hospital. They brought
the paddles out, put him under paddled him. He then
drove himself back home, and an hour later he said
he woke up to use the bathroom and said something
did not feel right, drove himself back to Cedar Sinai
(23:44):
and got paddled for a second time. It turns out
he's got a fib. He did not know about this,
and he said, whoof. Honestly, it's good to know now
I have the right doctors, the right information. But getting
paddled twice in one night to Zapia back in to
a regular rhythm is pretty wild. But I did go
to dinner afterwards I.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
Read unbelievable story.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
I feel like if you are at all shocked into
the heart to make sure that it's in rhythm, that
that's not something you kind of keep to yourself. Oh
my god, I got to share that with some family friends.
Speaker 4 (24:14):
The full interview is up with your scoop at West
Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
Good morning to you. It's Mack and Shmitti and we

your shot to get to over two million lines at almost
two miles of incredible holiday displays and get a first
look at this year's Christmas Light Show.

It is the Winter wonder Walk tomorrow and Sunday.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
Very very cool.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
We've got the family's tickets with today's answer, what is
something you see on Christmas wrapping paper?
Speaker 1 (24:40):
You know, and I don't get to see it anymore,
But as a kid, I would always know what gifts
were from my older brother because I would be able
to see previous days headlines all over.
Speaker 4 (24:49):
Favorite guys, we had a lot of crosses because that
was always our Catholic school fundraiser.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
Hey, you wanted to buy some of.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
This wrappid paper for a million dollars six one six,
four five one oh five seven?
Speaker 2 (25:01):
What is something you see on Christmas wrapping paper? Caller seven?
Speaker 4 (25:05):
You got the answer, and we're sending you to the
Winter wonder Walk on Star one O five point seven
gomoning Star.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
Who's this Mary? Mary? Where are you calling from? Today?
Speaker 9 (25:15):
One?
Speaker 1 (25:15):
All right, Mary, Let's see if we can get you
into the Winter wonder Walk this weekend at LMCU Ballpark
with the Christmas Light Show. One hundred adults were asked me,
what is something you might see on Christmas wrapping paper?
What do you think? The top answer was.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
No, man, reindeer, snowman and reindeer.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
I you know what, I think you're likely to see
any of those reindeer not on this list. However, snowman
was the number four most common I'm sorry, thank you,
have a great day. You do one? Oh bye, goomaning Star.
Who's this, Hi Blake, Where are you calling from today?
Speaker 5 (25:48):
I ownia?
Speaker 1 (25:49):
All right, let's see if we can get you hooked
up here. You got to tell me howndred adults we're
asked to name something you might see on Christmas wrapping paper,
and I just heard a great guess of snowman and reindeer, right,
weren't on the list, But snow men was actually the
number four most common answer, so not the top one.
What do you think it is?
Speaker 10 (26:06):
I think it's you think it's Christmas trees?
Speaker 1 (26:11):
Yeah, Christmas trees on a lot of wrapping paper. But
it's the number two most common answer. I'm sorry, all right,
thank you, thank you, Hi Star? Who's this? All right? Grayson?
How old are you? Bud? Ten years old? Are you
a fourth grader?
Speaker 3 (26:27):
Then?
Speaker 1 (26:28):
Fifth grade? Awesome? All right, Kings of the Kings of
the fifth grade, Here we go, Grayson. One hundred adults
were asked to name something you might see on Christmas
wrapping paper, and I already heard the number four most
common answer, which was snowmen. And I also heard the
number two most common answer, which was Christmas trees, but
not the number one answer. What do you think it is?
(26:48):
Grayson Santa. Yeah, you know, the big guy star of
the show. He's all over the wrapping paper. That's the
top answer, guys, Yes, Grayson and crew. You guys are
all going over to LMCU Ballpark either tomorrow or on
Sunday night for the Winter wonder Walk. You get to
(27:09):
be some of the first people to see those almost
two million lights and two miles of holiday displays this year. Congrats,
thank you so much, you are so welcome. And of
course Winter wonder Walk again going on tomorrow and on Sunday.
And still some tickets for you to grab at Christmas
Lightshow dot com. Remember light is l t E, so
(27:29):
it's Christmas Lite Show dot com for your tickets. Congrats guys,
and Merry Christmas.
Speaker 7 (27:35):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
I'me oting to you. It's Mack and Schmidty. And you
know what is there a day of the year that
is just a nightmare to have a birthday? On that
you would avoid it all costs if you were a mom, Schmidt.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
I mean I used to be really bummed as a
kid because my birthday always fell during spring breaks, so
nobody was here for my birthday party. I had a
birthday party with stuffed animals one year. But it's not
it didn't do anything to my.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
Site, explained me, Oh so much to me. Yeah, yeah, shitty.
I just saw this big survey yesterday where they asked
hundreds of moms what day they really didn't want to
have kids on, what they would really not want to
And I bring this up because as the Christmas station,
we don't want to be christ like guys. Forty percent
of mom said not on Christmas Day, don't be born
on Christmas. And I of course had to think about
(28:23):
myself and my family members because schmitty, my birthday is
December twentieth, my wife's sister's birthday is December twenty sixth,
my wife's birthday is December twenty seventh, and her little
brother's birthday is December thirtieth.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
Oh that's terrible.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
All of us within a ten day period, four birthdays,
and of course we're always all trying to get together
during the holidays too, so it literally turns into Christmas
and then the next day we're blowing out candles for
like four people.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
It once, at least do do that, So I actually
I wrote her name down. I met Celeste in my
Eastern Floral remote a couple of weeks ago. Her birthday
is the twenty fifth, and no one ever ever gives
her birthday presents. She's like, I'm honestly a grown woman.
It's fine, but it still really bothers me that it's
like they just double up and they go, well, I mean,
(29:09):
that's that's that's Christmas and.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
Birthday exactly well the top my parent. I used that
to my advantage as a kid, though, when I wanted
bigger gifts, like the year I wanted a snowboard, that
was too much money for just either my birthday or
for Christmas. So I did the beg and pleading thing
of like could it be for both please guys and
my wife? Though every year she wound up getting to
have a birthday party in June. She would do it
(29:31):
in June or July. Her mom and then would let
them have a birthday party in the middle of summer.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Like for a half birthday.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
Yeah, because they couldn't do anything on the twenty seventh.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Nobody get rosa, no, no, is.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
There a different day of the year though, that you
would really wish people would avoid.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
To be honest, I feel bad for Tony and Ross.
They got February thirtieth birthdays.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
They got that twenty nine thirty, that leap here baby.
That hurts.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
I was gonna say, did you find a brand new
day in February with you?
Speaker 9 (29:55):
Now?
Speaker 2 (29:56):
That leapier birthday is tough.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
That is a tough one for sure. I hate the idea, though,
of New Year's Day? Do you want to celebrate on
New Year's Day.
Speaker 4 (30:05):
One hundred percent better than Christmas? I would take New
Year's Day because everybody nobody likes New Year's Day. If
they say that, they do like it's the worst holiday.
If I could actually have a party for a friend,
I'd much rather do that.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
What's today? You would love to avoid it for a birthday?
We've got this going on there. I'm kind of surprised
by how many people just hate on the idea of
having at Christmas birthday at West Michigan Star Sometimes because
I get a good feeling, well, let's send you into
this weekend with some positivity. Feeling good right now on
starwin ol fine point seven. What's happening to you minute?
Speaker 4 (30:38):
Oh my gosh, every parent out there will feel this.
Take yourselves back to that early newborn stage. A couple
of parents have gone viral on TikTok for their original
anthem following get this their baby sleeping through the night.
This is at sixth lair her and her husband in
(31:00):
their own kind of celebration.
Speaker 6 (31:02):
Hate to brag, hate to brag, but guess what, our
baby just digging.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
He slept six hours straight. He slept six hour straight.
Speaker 8 (31:11):
When it comes to sleeping, our baby eight, he slept
six hours straight.
Speaker 12 (31:16):
If yo baby can't sleep six hours straight, guess what.
Geese parents just can't wait for the whole night.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
And if you got a baby.
Speaker 12 (31:30):
Dad, it's how you do right, that's getting out.
Speaker 4 (31:34):
It is the greatest video, with commenters saying if this
ain't new parent delirium, I don't know what is, and
another saying put this on Spotify right now. The parents
shocked it's gotten millions of views, but say, hey, just
goes to show that's all of us celebrating a baby
sleeping through the ninth.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
Seriously, how great is it gonna be too when their
kids are grown and they can just go revert back
to this when they're having their kids. Love that, all right?
This is really cool. I just want to give some
love to a group out of Muskegan who are doing
things to thank our veterans through quilts. This is awesome.
The Shining Stars Quilting bee honoring veterans earlier this month
over at Muskegan Bowman Archery Club where they drape them
(32:17):
with handmade quilts of valor. This is really neat Each
quilt presentation goes to a veteran, includes the story about
that veterans service, and then of course the crowd and
attendees all get to react and honor that veteran. Now,
the Shining Stars group, part of the Quilts for Valor Foundation,
is actually quilted over one hundred quilts in just two
(32:38):
and a half years, supporting veterans in the Miskegan community. Cheryl,
excuse me, coordinator Cheryl Nicholson just emphasizing what it means
for these veterans and how proud they are to do it.
Talking to thirteen on your side.
Speaker 3 (32:51):
They have left home, family, friends to serve and whether
it's in a time of CHRISTI Us or a time
of peace, they we feel they need to be honored
for what they have sacrificed for our country.
Speaker 1 (33:09):
Absolutely, and for each of those veterans it's an opportunity
to be singled out and shown that appreciation. As of
course the crowd goes nuts for everybody, veterans like Bill Hepworth,
who just said he was really honored to be a
part of this. It's just like it's honor, you know.
It's just the pride, the privilege to even receive that,
(33:31):
and everything we've done is just kind of all comes together.
Love that and a big shout out to these shining
stars Quilting Bee over there in moskeigeon doing what they
can for our local veterans.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
Thank you for your service.
Speaker 1 (33:44):
I Feeling Good comes at you a couple times today
to always share some positivity with you. And it's all
brought to you by our friends. Getting ready to have
some fun tonight and tomorrow the seventeenth Daniel Grand Rapids
