Mac and Schmitty in the morning on Star one of
five point seven, go on in Schmitty, good morning, Welcome
into your Monday. After what was gotta be one of
the nicest October weekends in recent memory.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
Oh right, I was looking ahead like, uh this sticking around.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
I sure wouldn't hate that Halloween we had a few
years ago where it was.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Like sixty as opposed to last year where we got
like a what two inches of snow on the at
the end of the night. Yep, you don't know what
you're going to quite get. So that's why you got
to enjoy incredible days like what we're gonna have today,
because after all that sunshine that we've had this weekend,
according to Bill Stephan, we are very close to potentially
achieving the sunniest October in the history of Grand Rapid
(00:50):
Spitting Friday.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
I think we were at seventy eight percent.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Yeah, up over eighty now it's pretty.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Well guys, grab that vitamin D today.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
That'll get us all the way up in to the
mid to upper seventies with plenty of sunshine coming and yeah,
not a bad way to start out of the week,
and if you're hanging with us, it's never a bad
way to start out.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 5 (01:16):
Well.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
Former One Direction member Zane Malick still reeling from the
death of Liam Payne, announcing just a couple days ago
he's officially postponing his Stairway to the Sky tour after
the heartbreaking loss. The US leg of his tour is
going to be rescheduled to January. He's writing, given the
heartbreaking loss experienced, I've made the decision to postpone. I'll
(01:38):
post them as soon as all set. Your tickets will
remain valid. I love you all and thank you so
much for understanding. Not the only star to be struggling
with this. Shawn Mendes so overcome with emotion over the
death of Liam, he paused his New York City concert
Friday night to pay tribute to his friend. He was
performing at the Brooklyn Paramount Theater when he stopped everything
(01:59):
and took him all. Went to tell the crowd that
the One Direction star was just an absolutely beautiful soul.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
I just wanted to take a second to.
Speaker 6 (02:09):
Send so much love to him wherever he is up there,
and we and the world is crying for you, brother,
and we're offering for your son and your family.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
That's just really really emotional.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Over the weekend, Liam's dad actually showed up in Buenos
Aires to go to the hotel room and the balcony
where his son passed.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Was really sad to watch, Yeah, thirty one years old
with a seven year old. A moment's just it's a
tragedy all the way around.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Justin Bieber back on stage for the first time in
a very long time, performing alongside his bff Don Toliver.
Speaker 5 (03:00):
So.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
The pop star took to the stage during the LA
Show with his buddy Saturday night. Lots of cameras filming
the star who just doesn't perform as much as he
used to. His wife, Haley was in the crowd capturing
her reaction to him back on stage in what appears
to be a really great move for him. He has
(03:21):
been really in it lately, of course, just becoming a dad,
but also dealing with all of these Diddy allegations, with
lots of people still questioning what he may have seen
in his history as a kid.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
So he looked great. I've gotta say, when you see
the videos, he looks healthy and happy.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
You know, slow start, he's had some problems getting the
engine going to actually stay out on a tour for
a long time. Maybe this is the beginning of him
taking a little tiptoe back into this.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
Well.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
See, I don't know, he loves being a dad.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
I don't know if like leaving baby behind would be
something he's ready to do. But little pop up shows
I think would make his fans super thrilled. Finally, Jennifer
Lawrence is super excited to be a mom of two.
According to Vogue, her rep confirming the news, the actress
is pregnant with baby number two, her second child with
hubby Cook Moroni. We didn't get any further details, Nora,
(04:10):
not a due date, nor a gender, anything like that.
The two have been notoriously private about family life. Their
two year old son came to US February.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Of twenty twenty two.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
So that's very very fun news. All of you are
celebscuo at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
Sometimes does that get a good feelie? Well, it's Monday,
let's beak yup. We all need it. On a Monday
Feeling Good on Star one oh five point seven. It's
Mack and Schmidty and this is just cool. I got
to give a shout out to a West Michigan High
school or. Her name is Eden Alonzo Rivera and she
is a student at Granville High School who just did
(04:47):
something and achieved something really really cool. She's now a junior,
but she had an assignment last year that made her
talk about her relationship with her father. Her dad happens
to be incarcerated. It has been throughout most of her life,
and her father's situation was something that she kept really
close to her. Only close friends and family even knew
that he was behind bars. But when this podcast came up,
(05:10):
she thought this was an idea that she wanted to
use to highlight just how different it's been growing up
with the dad who's in jail. So that's where her podcast,
A Relationship Behind Bars was born, mostly featuring what Eden
had from her father, which was his letters.
Speaker 7 (05:28):
What I do have our letters that are very intimate,
like I hold those letters very close to my heart.
Those are the only things that I have and some
photos of him in the envelope that I keep all
of my letters.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
In so she intertwined those letters from her father with
her own letters that she had written to him over
the years. But she discovered the podcast wasn't going to
be just about that relationship. It was about another relationship
that helped her get through it all, and that was
the one she had with her mother. She told to thirteen,
on your side.
Speaker 7 (05:57):
If I didn't have my mom's guidance, I don't know.
We're on and behind in life. And yeah, the story
is about the relationship with my father, but it's also
the underlying story and strength of my mother.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
That's right, Just talking about how her mother's strength helped
her persevere through this and helped her understand her own
relationship with her dad a little bit better, and all
of it coming out in this incredible podcast. Well, Mike Cox,
who's Eden's av teacher there at Granville High School, encouraged
the students to put their work into NPR's Student Podcast
Challenge and get this. Out of more than two thousand entries,
(06:33):
our Relationship behind bars one one outrights as the winner
again out of more than two thousand entries. So beyond
over the moon, Eden is that not only could she
get closer to her mom, and her father by doing
this podcast, but she thought that her story might be
able to help others whose parents are incarcerated as well,
(06:54):
and obviously just a great feeling all the way around.
Speaker 7 (06:56):
It makes me think, well, like I really didn't go
through all that for nothing, Like I really made something
great out of my story to help other people.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
So a big shout out to eat there.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
That's really cool, all right, beg Rescue to get to
thanks to Michigan State Police Trooper Justin van Nuel, who
arrived in water Velite Township last week to rescue an
eleven year old pop that had gotten trapped in a
gas line hole. The dog named Sophie, and her owner
happened to be out for a walk when she accidentally
(07:27):
fell inside. The trooper knew exactly what to do. This
is bodycam footage the department just released.
Speaker 6 (07:33):
Let's see what we can work out, super friendly, I'm guessing.
Speaker 8 (07:35):
Oh yeah, absolutely well.
Speaker 6 (07:37):
Let me let's get let's at least get me familiar
with her so that way I can reach down in.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Uh yeah, hold on, pop, you're.
Speaker 6 (07:48):
Good, Poppy, good poppy, come here, come here, new girl.
Oh awesome, he.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Sir, of course.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
The MSP even highlighting the story, saying, our number goal
one number one goal is to protect and serve the
entire community, be it our beloved residence or they're precious
furry family members. They were able to finish their customary
nightly walk in peace. Hopefully this story in video brighton's
your day as it did ours. Yeah, just posted it
(08:22):
up to our Facebook at West Michigan Star.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
Thank you Truper Venuel.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
So Kat's up a tree. It's the firefighters, dogs down
a hole. We'll just go ahead and call the police.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
I think they all do it all and we love
them for it.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Feeling good comes out to you a couple times today.
I always want to share something great with you. We'll
do it again today nine to twenty on Star.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
Movies, Music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Man, if you got to go and see Pink last
week in Detroit, consider yourself lucky. The singer songwriter has
postponed a bunch of her Midwest shows with no real
reason why. Posting to her Instagram on Saturday, she wrote,
due to reasons beyond my control, we need to postpone
our next four shows in Lincoln, Nebraska, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Milwaukee, Wisconsin,
(09:12):
and Des Moines, Iowa. She says she is super disappointed
to have to share the news, and they're working on
rescheduling each of the shows as soon as they can,
ending it with thank you for your understanding. I am
really looking forward to seeing you all very very soon,
sending love and health Pink. So she's in the middle
of her summer carnival tour and because these four shows
(09:33):
were postponed, she's got a big hiatus now, her next
show not until November in Texas. Reaching out to her
and her rep for comment, nobody has said anything in
about what this is all about.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
I mean, in some of those places that you mentioned that,
I got a lot of stuff I feel like going on.
I don't know what's going on in South Dakota, but
a Pink show sounds like a pretty big deal.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
I just hope it's nothing serious. I really hope that
everything's okay. And maybe it was just some scheduling conflicts
or equipment issues, but really hope nothing health related. Sean
did he Coomb's about to be hit with another batch
of assault lawsuits, including allegations he drugged and assaulted a
thirteen year old girl that Texas lawyer Tony Busby announced
(10:16):
last night seven new claims, days after he filed those
first six lawsuits. He said that two of the new
victim's teenagers at the time they claim the rapper abused them,
one seventeen, a girl who was just thirteen. The lawsuits
expected to be filed in the US District Court in
(10:37):
Manhattan should be sometime over night last night, possibly early
early this morning. Their contents will soon be made public
after According to Buzzby, several other individuals are referenced in
the case filings but are not at this time formerly
named as defendants. Will let the allegations and the filed
complaints speak for themselves and work to see that justice
is done. He says some of the claimed abuse was
(11:00):
more than two decades ago, as far back as two thousand.
What most of the events described occurred in twenty twenty two,
with some of the most egregious occurring in New York,
LA and Vegas.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Yeah, I mean, it's gonna be wild because not only
is did he likely to never get out of prison
ever again, but at the same time, I feel like
it's likely that these kinds of court battles go on
for the rest of his life as well. I feel
like they should almost if they can go through the
criminal trial, loop all of these civil suits into one
and just take every dollar that he has and give
(11:33):
it to the victims.
Speaker 5 (11:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
No, I feel like this, he said. Floodgates are opening.
I think you are going to have this like done fast.
If there's no defense he has, it's like, take the money, dudes,
go into prison. Finally, Lions fans, of course excited to
see that big win yesterday, but equally as excited to
hear from hutch That's right. Aiden Hutchinson, posting his first
(11:57):
update following surgery on that broken leg, took to Instagram
after the game yesterday.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
This was really good to hear.
Speaker 5 (12:04):
What's up, y'all. We are one week out from surgery.
The first days were a little rough, but now we
are on the road to recovery and just attacking each day.
And I want to thank all the kids who maybe
the videos. I want to thank all my teammates, all
the fans, all the support all over social media. It's
been amazing and I'm doing great, just pushing through. Got
(12:27):
to see the Lions win today. It's a big win.
I'm so happy for him, and we're going to keep
pushing and just keep taking this thing day by day.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
Well see, I mean, I keep hearing that he would
really like to be at least on the sidelines on
crutches in the next couple weeks, to make sure his
team knows that they've got that support there.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
We get that. We want him on the field for
the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Come nothing sooner though. You don't want to mess up
like he's got this bad break. I keep saying, my
mom is coming out, and I'm like, honey, you rehab
that as long as unique, because you have a nice,
long career out of you. All of your celebsop at
West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
Good morning to you. It's Mac and Schmidt. And you're
not feeling so artistic this morning.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
Schmidting, I never have.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
Let's make that very crystal clear, because I think a
lot of parents listening have had this moment. I am
not artsy. I never have been. I don't know how
to draw, I don't know how to paint. Stick figures
even do not look like they're supposed to look. So
it's hard when here kid who adores art class is like, hey,
can you help me with this? First school, he has
(13:29):
art on Mondays. So we're hanging out over the weekend
and he is trying to draw a cowboy picture and
he goes, Mom, I can't draw a cowboy hat.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
Can you help me?
Speaker 3 (13:38):
And I'm thinking, like the old school John Wayne, like
ten gallon hat, and I figure I can possibly be
hard to draw. So I draw it and I can't
say it, but if you follow us on social I
put the video up because I will simply say, instead
of a cowboy hat, it looks like an eggplant. If
(14:01):
you have children, and you know what an eggplant emoji
stands for. Yeah, yeah, that is what my ten.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
Gallon cowboy hat looked like.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
And I draw and was I step back and I go, oh,
that is that's inappropriate. So I try it again, and
no matter how many times I try to draw this
stupid cowboy hat, it just keeps looking like a piece
of anatomy. And I was like I and then Will goes,
that's okay, mom, you tried pretty good. And then I
find out this morning he absolutely is taking that into
(14:27):
school today, like he's just so excited about the rest
of his cowboy picture that the hat is not going
to detract him from hanging it on the school hallway walls.
So I'm like, are you sure that dad could help out?
Speaker 1 (14:41):
He goes, no, this looks good.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
It's a stick figure with a giant on its head.
Speaker 5 (14:44):
M h.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
And he's going to school with that this morning.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
So I'm standing by to see if I get a
phone call or if maybe they just understand we all
have different strengths and weaknesses.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
Well, the interesting thing is, I'm sure that our teacher
would tell you that when you I've got anywhere from
you know, five to what ten year old boys in
a class, drawing those particular things is something that comes
with the jobs bidding that our teacher has seen.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
Does that make me a bad parent?
Speaker 3 (15:12):
That if I did get a call, I'd be like, oh, yeah,
he totally drew that. I would never I'm a grown
woman with the maturity level in her thirties.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
There's no way I drew that.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
Actually, it's way better for you to just go ahead
and tell them it's the cowboy hat. That's the cowboy hat.
Try and dare me that that's not a cowboy hat.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
So at West Michigan, star. This on our Instagram. This
is on our Facebook. You want to see what I
drew for my son's cowboy picture and then let me
know if you've ever had a similar fail. Four five eight,
one oh five seven.
Speaker 5 (15:45):
Here are the facts. But human torch was denied a bankload.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
All right, it's not very informative, but you were going
to click on it anyway, so we got you covered.
What is this week's very first?
Speaker 3 (15:58):
A woman flying from Phoenix stopped by the TSA over
suspicious bag of loose white powder found out to be
Cosco sized bed of fiber.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
Adbie Spent a nineteen year old Londoner accused of pretending
to be a doctor. Back in April, a nineteen year
old woman walked into a London hospital pretending to be
a doctor by putting on a white robe, went into
the hospital and then administered a substance into a patient
by squirting it into their mouth.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
That's horrified.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
You ever wondered what a flu shot tastes like?
Speaker 3 (16:32):
Adbye, Missing drunk man spent hours helping a search party
look for himself. A man in Turkey accidentally joined his
own search party and looked for himself for hours before
he realized he was the target of the rescue Missiondbie.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
Burglar breaks into houses to do chores. Polish man sentenced
to twenty two months for breaking into homes, hanging laundry,
cleaning floors, and taking out the trash without taking anything
except for a glass of wine. One of his victims
called police after noticing her bird feeders had been refilled. Yes, suspiciously.
(17:10):
Good thing. He's going to prison, So now doing chores
for free is all he gets to do every day?
Speaker 9 (17:15):
All right?
Speaker 1 (17:16):
Have you seen the viral sea World video?
Speaker 3 (17:19):
Saturday at SeaWorld San Antonio, one of the Killer Orcas
putting on that typical tank show, decided the call of
nature was too important, relieving himself in the tank. The
problem is the tail went up, the water splashed the crowd.
One guest saying we expected to get wet sitting that close,
(17:40):
but not like that. It smelled awful. People were gagging.
Here's the best part. The guests were taken to a
decontamination site, where they were then given soap, bottled water,
and towels. As for clean clothes. SeaWorld said, we've got
a ton in the gift shop.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
Should have warned that Poncho for sure.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
Made him buy their own clothes. That's insane to me.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Bye as schmitthe Sweden and Denmark too. Outlaw cousins Mary, Yeah,
latest countries to do that. Norway just did it this
past year. Meanwhile in Alabama they're just going what why
would you want to do that? At By that's this
week's best headlines. You see any great ones out there,
send Tom our ways always at Facebook and Instagram, at
(18:23):
West Michigan Stock.
Speaker 4 (18:27):
Movies, music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
Oh, I know the Swifties have been waiting Taylor Swift's
final leg for real, if you can believe, a final
leg for epic eras tour off and running after a
two month hiatus. She was in Miami over the weekend
with tons of slebs at hard Rock Stadium. Retired NFL
star Tom Brady was there, Tennis great Serena Williams, put
(18:55):
A Coppy, and Savannah Guthrie. We saw Miley Cyrus and
her mom. Everyone enjoying it. Lots of fans excited to
see the start of the reputation part of the show
because if you are an eagle eyed Swifty you will
know that that very famous body suit that is normally
(19:18):
black with the red snakes and some green sequin ring
around her finger has been a staple of the show
except for Saturday night when she popped out with all gold.
Now she has not said anything, but the Swifties believe
this means that reputation Taylor's version is on its way.
Like I said, Taylor has not officially said something, but
(19:40):
this would be very Taylor esque. Also really cool, I
thought to point out this is the first time that
the Kelsey fam minus Travis had been in attendance, Donna
finally making it to her first Heiress stop along with Jason,
his wife Kylie, and their daughter Wyatt that were spotted
over the weekend.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Very cool. I just my question is about the Easter
egg of the changing of the outfits. Couldn't it just
simply be she got a new outfit during that part
of the show.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
No, because she has made sure that that color scheme
was the same throughout all that. This is what I'm
hearing from the Swifties.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
Now.
Speaker 3 (20:15):
I will be the first to say I am not
as much of a sleuth as the rest of you are,
but they're saying. She specifically pointed this out. The intro
was very different than what we've seen from other spots,
other tour stops, so we're just we're just waiting. Britney
Spears baffling fans yesterday by declaring she married herself while
(20:35):
posing in a wedding dress and veil. She just did
it to some very basic music. You can see her
in a white wedding dress with that old school looking
veil rating.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
The day I married myself.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
Bringing it back because it might seem embarrassing or stupid,
but I think it's the most brilliant thing I've ever done. Okay,
I think she's just maybe feeling herself.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
I hope. I guess maybe it's interesting.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
She talked about her girl crushes last week, so it
could be Britt just doing Britt.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
It's an interesting way to go to self love. It's
a level up, right, It's a full commitment to yourself.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
You can go ahead and see it. I put it
up West Michigan Star dot com. You tell me finally.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
Eminem Over the weekend was in Austin, Texas for the
Big F one race. Fan super excited one of his
first live performances in quite a while, and of course
it was the now fifty two year old'spilated birthday.
Speaker 9 (21:35):
This isn't embarrassing at all, that's right.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
He was pretty embarrassed.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
This was not something he was expecting, but launched right
into an incredible mashup of all of his hits. I
also thought it was really fun to point out halfway
through he had a little outfit change and put on
a Hutchinson Lyons jersey for the remainder.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
Of the performance.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
That's awesome.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
Yeah, all of you are celebscoop at West Michigan Star dot.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
Com Battle of the Sexist. Time in your shot to
get to the greatest show on Earth as it comes
to Van and three in the later this week.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
So Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey officially opens Friday. You
have shows on Saturday and Sunday. This is one that's
gonna blow your kid's mind.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
It's so good.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
We just need today's number one answer and you've got
four tickets come in your way. One hundred women surveyed
Name a place people work that starts with the letter.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
P place people work starts with fee. Oh, you know,
a shout out to them for always putting that garlic
butter in every single box Papa John's employees boom got
all right you.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
Six one, six, four, five, eight, one oh five seven
caller seven, first chance at the number one answer. One
hundred women's survey, name a place people work that starts
with the letter P, and we're sending you to the
greatest show on Earth with Star.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
Good morning, Star. Who's this? Nora? How was your weekend? Good?
Speaker 7 (23:02):
Good?
Speaker 2 (23:03):
Let's see if we can make your week start out great.
Speaker 5 (23:05):
Nora?
Speaker 2 (23:05):
Where are you calling from today? All right, Nora? One
hundred women were asked to name a place people work
that starts with the letter P. What do you think?
Their top answer was pharmacy. You're gonna go with pharmacy.
That's a really good guess. That's the number four most
common answer. I'm sorry, really close, Hi, Star, who's this? Destiny?
(23:30):
Perhaps it is yours? To win these tickets? You gotta
tell me. One hundred women were asked to tell me
a place people work that starts with the letter P.
And I just got a great guess of pharmacy, which
was the number four most common answer, but not the
top one. What do you think it is? Destinyiatrician like
a pediatrician a doctor's office. No, that's not on there.
I'm sorry.
Speaker 6 (23:51):
Oh okay, thank you.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Hi Star.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
Who's this Amanda?
Speaker 2 (23:56):
Amanda? I've had two guesses so far. They both went
both went to medical route. One hundred women were asked
to tell me a place people work that starts with
the letter P. So far, i've heard fine, pharmacy and
the pediatricians office. Neither of those were the top answer.
But you got a chance here. What do you think
it is?
Speaker 3 (24:12):
I was gonna say post office.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
You were gonna say post office? Yeah, when's the last
time you went to a post office? Just out of curiosity, Amanda,
A long time ago. I was gonna say, I don't know.
I should have said what year did you last go to? One?
Post office? Is the top answer?
Speaker 5 (24:27):
Where to go? Wow?
Speaker 2 (24:29):
Yeah, it was post office, followed by police station, and
then prison and then pharmacy, rounding out those top answers.
Well done, Thank you, you are very welcome. Yeah, you're
going to check out Wringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey
the Greatest Show on Earth later this week. Congrats.
Speaker 7 (24:45):
Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
You got some kiddos. You're gonna have a blast at
the show.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
Yeah, I've got too perfect.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
Well, we'll do it again for your family tomorrow. Battle
of the Sex is eight fifteen here on Star one
oh five point seven. Good morning too. It's Mack and Schmidty.
And you know kids are expensive, There's no doubt about that. However,
we try not to waste money on the things that
they want. The whims of their wants at any given
(25:13):
point in time just bounce around right like a bouncy ball.
It's I want this, I want that, I want this.
But there are some things that are pretty constant and consistent,
and I want to talk about those things, Schmidty and
what drives you nuts? Because if I have to tell
my son that we are not spending another dollar on
more Fortnite skins again in my life, I'm gonna lose
my mind. If your kids play Fortnite, well then you
(25:35):
know they constantly have the ability to make their character
look different. But the way that they suck money right
out of your life is by charging you for it.
So I have my kid, my son Connor, asking me
questions like debt dead to debt? Can I use some
of my birthday money to buy fish stick? What's fish stick, buddy,
I don't know fish stick. It's a skin in Fortnite.
(25:56):
You look like a fish going through there. I'm like,
and what does what does that do for you? He
goes nothing. You just get to look different.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
How much they normally cost?
Speaker 2 (26:03):
I don't need like. I think they're like, you get
v Bucks and so there's different packages and different levels
and stuff. But it's usually they're asking me to put
like twenty dollars on this thing.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
No, and I'm not.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
I made the mistake Smitty of doing it one time,
and since that one time, I think I get asked
about different skins on Fortnite at least fifteen times a
week currently since that one time that I bought it,
and it's always the stupidest Dad, I gotta get Little Whip,
I gotta get Little Whip. I don't know what you're
talking about. He's an ice cream that does all sorts
(26:33):
of ridiculous stuff. I'm like, again, but then you just
go around and you do the same thing on Fortnite. Yeah,
it's the same thing. Okay, No, gosh.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
I hope my kids don't ever ask my husband because
after annoying what he bought on World of warcraft as
a college student. I'm gonna be like, bro, you do
not have a leg to stand on in this conversation.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
I was asking this on Facebook and yeah, there's another
mom out there feeling me definitely. V Bucks came up
for Katie and then Jennifer says, mind coins in surprise eggs.
I don't know what those are, but they feel very
similar and it sounds like something my daughter would want.
Big time smitty.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
Yeah, I gotta be honest.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
My kids are still grappling with the fact that we
have taken ads into all of our streaming services because
I'm like, do you want to eat dinner or watch Disney?
Speaker 1 (27:14):
Plus, this is our family. Now some down.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
Because I get a good feeling. Well, let's bring some
positivity to start this week out. It's feeling good on
starwin O fine point seven.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
What's happened to Schminne So, a young Taylor Swift fan
whose themed Halloween costume went viral. We'll be seeing the
star in person. Eleven year old Henry Hinson went viral
on TikTok. I actually saw him a couple weeks ago
with this video. He's in a wheelchair after being diagnosed
with spina bifida, so he is paralyzed from the waist down,
(27:48):
but absolutely adors Taylor. His mom, Aaron told people we
were walking out of seeing the Airstour film in theaters
last October when he said, that's what I'm going to
be for Halloween, and I said it's not even really
Halloween yet for this year. We're already planning next year,
he said. Yep, he went as that opening kind of
(28:11):
winged look.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
Mom went all out. She helped with pool noodles. She
used a.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
Certain kind of fan fabric. She had a pink Hazmatt
soup that she spray painted to match the tour costumes.
He looks absolutely incredible. Well, it went viral on TikTok,
and a lot of fans worked to get Taylor's attention.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
This happened over the weekend.
Speaker 4 (28:33):
Today I got a message from Taylor Nation.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
Shut up. Yeah, do you want.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
To read what it says?
Speaker 4 (28:42):
Yes, they are giving us two tickets to one of
the shows in Indianapolis.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
So you are going. You're going to the Eras tour.
It's incredible. I cannot wait.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
That's right Henry officially seeing his idol in Anddy I'll
put the video up at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
That's awesome. Love to see that I spent. This was
a regular day back in the beginning of August in
San Antonio, Texas for Keith Young and his wife Rachel See.
Keith was upstairs taking his shower and he happens to
be battling kidney disease and things took a turn south,
and of course his wife needed to call nine one
one when he collapsed. This was the two of them
(29:32):
explaining the situation to their local news KNTV.
Speaker 8 (29:36):
Breathing.
Speaker 5 (29:37):
Yes, he's breathing.
Speaker 4 (29:38):
His eyes are opening and closing.
Speaker 6 (29:40):
He no, I need Everything was black for a long time,
and then I woke up in the hospital.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
They had told me what had happened. I was incredul Yeah,
Keith incredulous, not knowing what had happened. But what had
happened was a new piece of technology that actually helped
deceive save Keith's life. On the other end of that
nine one one call was a certified paramedic and dispatcher,
Randy Rustin, and he actually sent Rachel a quick link
(30:09):
that allowed them to be face to face so that
he could have access to Rachel's microphone and camera right
there on her phone so that he could identify how
Keith was doing in the steps that needed to take place.
Speaker 8 (30:23):
I knew that we needed to get eyes on him
to determine what our next steps were going to be.
We're able to look at their heart rate and respiratory rates,
skin color one and two and three and four.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
Randy got me through this, that's right.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
Randy got her through it right there on video chat
as she's chatting with this nine one one dispatcher slash
paramedic giving her husband CPR until paramedics could arrive and
helping to save Keith's life. The two of them actually
just got to reunite for the first time since that happened.
Of course cameras were there, and both of them saying
that the other one is the real hero. Well, he
(30:57):
wouldn't be here with not you, that's for sure.
Speaker 8 (31:00):
I was just telling missus young, she's the hero here
today CPR in between cardiac arrest and first responder arrival.
It's everything.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Yeah, And just so you know the state of Michigan
this year, also, you can do video chats with nine
one one dispatch it these days.
Speaker 3 (31:16):
I love nine o month operators. They're just so incredible.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
Yeah, feeling good comes at you twice to day. I
want to be telling you about something that's great going
on out there, because it's all around you when you're
looking for it. We will do that for you again
tomorrow six forty five and nine twenty here on Startinar
five point seven Mack and Schmidty in the morning weekdays
starting at six am on Star one oh five point
seven
