Speaker 1 (00:02):
Wakem It gets my day going and makes me laugh.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Mac and Schmitty in the morning on Star one of
five point seven.
Speaker 4 (00:13):
Good morning, Welcome into hump Day, and it's gonna look
a lot like yesterday. And by that I mean absolutely gorgeous.
Nothing but sunshine ahead of us today, mid eighties tempts.
We're in the mid fifties out there right now, which
actually feels marvelous this morning.
Speaker 5 (00:27):
This is the best kind of weather because there's no humidity,
so even in the afternoon, hitting the mid eighties, you
get into some shade, it feels great. You can open
your windows at night. I don't mind this groundhog Day
at all.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
No, it's it's not terrible, and it looks like it'll
be extended to us at least until we hit this weekend.
Saturday looks great. Sunday, well that's when we start to
get a little bit dicey. But our friends from Storm teammate,
they've always got the latest with that coming up for you.
But I want to talk Schmitty. We got a brand
new champion here in West Michigan.
Speaker 6 (00:55):
I think we didn't think this was gonna happen.
Speaker 5 (00:58):
Our Western Michigan White Caps or Midwest League champions. Just
in case you went to bed early last night. I
know they didn't even post to their Facebook till about
one am. Absolutely historical season twenty twenty five Midwest League
champion West Michigan White Caps.
Speaker 6 (01:16):
I loved what they wrote.
Speaker 5 (01:17):
Unreal team, magical season, storybook ending. We really want to
thank everybody who rode the wave with us along the way.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
It's the celebrities gooop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 5 (01:34):
Well, it was the big premiere last night of the
new season of Dancing with the Stars, but very surprising
Judge Carrie Anne Mia from the premiere episode and fans
are now very concerned about her help. The famed choreographer,
who has been a part of the show for seasons,
posted on her Instagram ahead of the season thirty four premiere,
(01:55):
writing to fans, I wanted to share I'll not be
at the show tonight as I'm feeling quite under the weather.
I'm resting up and can't wait to be back next
week in good health. In the meantime, I wish all
the contestants the very best of luck, and I will
be cheering you on from home. Typically that wouldn't be concerning.
People get sick. It can be tough. But she also
(02:16):
skipped out on the massive casting announcement on Good Morning
America two weeks ago, where we had stars like Hilaria Baldwin,
Jordan Chiles, and Andy Richter all on stage with all
of the other judges as well, including Derek Huff, Bruno
Alfonso Riviero, but no Carrie Anne. She has not elaborated
(02:37):
on the specifics of the illness. Her Dancing with the
Stars family has wished her well while she's been keeping
us under wraps, but it is a bit concerning for
fans thinking, gosh, oh, it's nothing really serious.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
Yeah, definitely, And I don't know that she would have
said I'll be back next week if it was something
that she wasn't pretty sure she was going to be
back next.
Speaker 5 (02:52):
Week hopefully, because this would have been like a month
long thing. If she's missed two to three weeks of
press for this.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
Did Corey Feldman show up?
Speaker 5 (02:59):
I think so? Oh, I didn't watch it was sound lace. Yeah,
this is interesting. I guess it was now hosting and
teaching at Harvard none other than rapper and singer machine
gun Kelly. That's right, call him professor MGK, the cliche
songwriter headed to Harvard to give a lucky business school
class a lecture. He shared several pictures on his Insta,
(03:22):
joking that Harvard now has a new suite professor.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
He continues to.
Speaker 5 (03:26):
Push culture forward, so please please join.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
Me in getting a massive welcome to MVP.
Speaker 6 (03:35):
He was a huge hit with students.
Speaker 5 (03:36):
Not exactly clear what he taught, maybe the business of
the music industry, but he certainly looked the part. Very
dapper in gray trousers, a plaid dress shirt, brown leather
jacket and a tie.
Speaker 6 (03:51):
I mean, this guy looked quite the part.
Speaker 5 (03:53):
There must be something going on this week at Harvard,
because I thought this was really funny. My best friend
actually went and taught a class there yesterday in business,
so I think they might be reaching out to like
people of all different professions. But MGK, professor at Harvard's
something I didn't think i'd.
Speaker 6 (04:10):
Be saying this year.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
Do any of you have any questions? Yes, how did
you land Megan five? Please explain that for the class.
Speaker 5 (04:16):
Finally, it is the big announcement that you are going
to love and probably head to the internet. To buy
this weekend, because of course, mid September is never too early.
The Queen of Christ Christmas is head of Descend City.
This is crazy good news. Mariah Carey is opting for
(04:39):
a residency at Doleby Live at Park MGM. She is
calling it Christmas Time in Las Vegas, so rather than
taking a holiday tour on the road, she's going to
be parked in one spot November twenty eighth or December thirteenth.
Ten total shows planned, so you have to think it's
going to be a pretty intimate engagement with only ten shows.
Those tickets are on sale this weekend if you'd like
(05:02):
to road trip or a flyout for a Christmas experience.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
I was a little bummed that it wasn't at the Sphere,
only because I thought Mariah singing as like insane, a
digital artistry of Santa flying overhead and everything else.
Speaker 5 (05:14):
We had to make her sick like some of the
rest of us. Yeah, all right, all of your celeb
scoop at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
See on five points. You have a good morning to you.
It's Mack and Shittie, always trying to just make it
a little bit better. Feeling good right now. And you
know what, sometimes our feel good stories come out of
things that don't feel so good, news that we nobody
wants to hear, like that you've just lost your job.
But that's what happened earlier this week. Of course, you
might have heard about the sudden closure of the Cohle's
Quality Foods over in Muskegan, a staple here in West Michigan,
(05:44):
an employer of about one hundred and seventy five people
who are all left without jobs as a result of
that closure. Obviously not good news for anyone to get
and in those moments, pretty cool when a local business
steps up to say thank you for being patrons over
these years, and here this is something we'd like to
do for you, and that business is Muskegan Brewing Company,
(06:07):
who has offered all one hundred and seventy five of
those employees a free meal and to come in and
enjoy themselves, bring their former coworkers with them and share
in the times that they had together while they enjoy
a free meal at one of their stops that they
frequented quite often, as the locations are pretty close together.
Daniel Burgess, he's a four year Cole's employee, you know,
(06:30):
shocked by the news, but was just really thankful that
the Muskegan Brewing Company was there for him and his friends.
This week we left, I think there was probably twenty
twenty five of us and then there were still more
common but so it was a really good thing they did. Yeah,
and on top of it, there is still lots more
(06:50):
to do, and the gesture is all because they want
to honor the historical connection between the two businesses. Marketing
manager Karina Skechety went until seven Fox seventeen.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
To wake up one morning, and though you don't have
a job anymore, can be super tough, and we just
kind of wanted to pay tribute to them and show
them that we're here to support them in this tough time.
Speaker 4 (07:10):
Yeah, so I just wanted to shout out Mosquiga Brewing
Company right there. Just doing something nice for your neighbors
going through a tough time.
Speaker 5 (07:14):
All Right, This was really cool last night the New
York Mets in an MLB game, But it was the
beginning with a national anthem performed by none other than
Francisco Lindor's wife Katya, And you could see him from
the sidelines jumping up and down.
Speaker 6 (07:33):
So proud of his love.
Speaker 7 (07:43):
A rightfully proud Francisco Lindor and his three kids watching
Francisco's wife Katya play at the National lath Am on
the violin today.
Speaker 5 (07:53):
When you look at the comments, it says, I don't
care who you are a fan of in baseball. This
is a moment of absolute love and pride. It is
so cool and the national anthem on violin by Katya
was absolutely showstopping. Got it up for you at West
Michigan Star dot.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
Com Movies, music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 5 (08:17):
Well, of course we had the breaking scoop yesterday, Iconic
actor and director Robert Redford passing away at eighty nine.
According to his rep he passed peacefully at his home
in Sundance, Utah, surrounded by the people he loved the most.
While a cause of death has not been revealed. Tons
of Hollywood reacting to the news, including Leonardo DiCaprio saying
(08:41):
his environmentalism was actually inspired by the late actor. On
the red carpet last night for his brand new movie
One Battle after Another. He spoke to the ap Watch
think his legacy as multifold.
Speaker 8 (08:54):
It was a huge loss to our community. Not only
was he an incredible actor, we all know his work,
but as a director to films like Quaz Show, he
was one of the first guys to do political thrillers.
Three Days of the Condor, All the President's Men. He'd
paved the way for films like this. But more so
than anything, he was a staunch environmental leader and was
(09:19):
a member of the NRDC like me, and fought for
Indigenous rights. The list goes on and on.
Speaker 4 (09:24):
We lost a legend today.
Speaker 5 (09:26):
Barbara Streisan another major part of Rabbitt Redford's life, paying
tribute to one of the finest actors ever. And we
don't have any further details, but no doubt there will
be some kind of memorial.
Speaker 4 (09:38):
You would think, I feel like I'm about to go
through a Robert red a Robert Redford movie marathon.
Speaker 6 (09:43):
A little rewatch.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
Yeah, so good.
Speaker 5 (09:46):
I had no idea, So I guess I've been living
under a rock. But Lauren Sanchez, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos's wife,
has announced her second children's book, The Fly Who Flew
Under the Sea. Apparently she has an entire Flynn the
Fly series she's been traveling around the country showing different
kids in school. Flynn Fly Web taxes my whole thing, apparently,
(10:15):
the educational kids book filled with subjects like biodiversity and
natural wonder and learning about our precious planet while teaching
the power of self acceptance along the way. She dropped
the news on Insta, saying, get excited. The Fly who
Flew under the Sea is here. Flynn dives into the
deep Blue. It will release March third of next year,
(10:37):
and friends like Jesse James Decker and Chris Jenner will
be a part of promoting this.
Speaker 6 (10:42):
I had no clue she wrote kids books.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
I'm with you, schmiddy. Not an idea in the world,
but you know what, it's nice to be married to
the guy who sells more books than any other human being.
Speaker 6 (10:52):
My thing is protecting our precious planet.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
I'm like, Finally, Fire Festival is ready for its next chapter.
Speaker 6 (11:01):
Yes, this is still not fully dead.
Speaker 5 (11:03):
The infamous music fest has been acquired by LimeWire And
for all of you, that says LimeWire is still a thing.
Same here eight years after that very first chaotic launch.
You remember the cheese sandwiches Repsford LimeWire say the software
company has acquired the brand with the purpose of launching
a whole new project under this collaboration. They were actually
(11:26):
in a bidding war with Ryan Reynolds and one out
so a source says that it's not going to be
the festival itself. They're reimagining this. Don't have a ton
of details, but the LimeWire CEO said, we're bringing the
brand and the meme back to life, this time with
real experiences and without the cheese sandwiches.
Speaker 4 (11:49):
They better put cheese sandwiches on whatever menu they have there.
Speaker 6 (11:52):
This I shall just do that.
Speaker 5 (11:53):
They're making it sound like it's not going to be
a festival at all. They've bought the rights, so I'm
not really sure what that means. But mcbarn who was
the original creator of this went to prison for fraud,
says it's a great idea.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
Here's this is not the only thing. The reason I
said this Schmette, Did you see that Rita Aura as
well as a Tika wa Titi are trying to do
so fire festival music.
Speaker 6 (12:13):
That doesn't surprise me at all. He is absolutely hilarious.
Speaker 5 (12:16):
If you guys are Marvel fans, He's actually one of
the characters in the MCU.
Speaker 6 (12:20):
That's how you would know him. All right, all of
your celebsco but West Michigan Star.
Speaker 4 (12:24):
Dot Com good morning too. It's Mack and Schmidty. And
you know, I'm still living in these world of mid
eighties TEMs. But you mentioned Fall, Schmidty.
Speaker 5 (12:31):
So I wanted to talk about this TikTok account that
I found.
Speaker 6 (12:34):
And this guy's name.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
Is Josh jaw s h and he's all about life
in his thirties and changing of the seasons. And he's
got this whole series of tiktoks about what Fall has
shown him. It's hysterical and I'm watching through these last night, going, oh, man,
Fall might be the season where I show my age
the most.
Speaker 6 (12:55):
So this one absolutely killed me.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
Dude, What is it about getting older that like a
Chrispy Moore?
Speaker 3 (13:00):
I think it's Josh Fi dude, Like like you wake
up and.
Speaker 5 (13:03):
It's like sixty degrees, it's just crisp beyond it.
Speaker 7 (13:08):
And if you throw a crispy leaf under the foot too, dude,
as bananam baby, I'm there all Dad's dynamite, Dude.
Speaker 6 (13:16):
It's absolutely hysterical.
Speaker 5 (13:19):
He talks about what happens once I got into my thirties,
chilling in my garage has become so cool.
Speaker 6 (13:26):
He talks about a walk.
Speaker 5 (13:28):
With coffee, like it's just all of these things I'm
laughing at and it's because I am relating to them
so well. And I'm sitting there talking to one of
my friends last night and I was like, fall is coming,
and I'm old, how do I know? I've begun crafting.
I am trying to make my own doorway wreath Martha
Stewart's style.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
Could you bought seventy five gords?
Speaker 5 (13:49):
I've never done that. I bought wool socks that I
found on TikTok shop that double as compression for.
Speaker 6 (13:57):
My fall walk.
Speaker 4 (13:59):
You gotta have that.
Speaker 5 (14:00):
I am buying caffeine free Bigbie to drink in the
afternoon while I sit on my deck and look at
the changing trees because we've still got to have a
decent bedtime.
Speaker 4 (14:12):
You'll be up all night otherwise.
Speaker 6 (14:14):
Oh you guys, what is happening to me?
Speaker 5 (14:16):
I am not even forty yet, and I'm out here
realizing fall has shown my age and I think that's
maybe cool or I'm having an early midlife crisis. I'm
not really sure, but this dude on TikTok made me
feel much better about it.
Speaker 4 (14:30):
Whatever, I'm ready for you and jah Waash or whatever
however he wants to say his name, Josh. I want
him to gather all of these things when you do
hit your forties, because I can't wait to hear the
bird watching videos that are like.
Speaker 6 (14:43):
Oh, and then I haven't hit the bird watching yet.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
You're like a man. There's your yeah, this partner, and
there's a couple of cardinals. Man, it's just mind.
Speaker 5 (14:52):
I can tell you don't birdwatch because cardinals are so
low on the list. We're talking like a ruby bellied
bob footed seven like I've got I have four friends
that are now into bird watching, and the amount of
names I've heard from birds. I'm like, my man, Joel,
I was looking at robins. Do you have something that's
got to feeling old right now?
Speaker 6 (15:10):
All right?
Speaker 5 (15:11):
Six one six four five eight one oh five seven
That same number is gonna hook you up with Trans
Siberian Orchestra tickets coming your way at seven thirty on Wednesdays.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
We just own those things as parents that we do that.
You're not always so proud of this one, however, Smitty
I'm not saying I'm not proud of this, because I
think it was necessary. So I've mentioned my son Connor.
He's playing his first year of tackle football this year,
and he's having a lot of fun with it. But
(15:40):
one of the hard parts anybody who's ever played football
is the equipment can be a little tough to do
on your own, especially when you're trying to work your
jersey over your pets.
Speaker 5 (15:50):
I always wondered, Yeah, how they make that happen.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
It's pretty tricky. It's a skill like you can get
in and out of them pretty good. But my son's jersey,
his game jersey specifically, is to tight on him and
he has to basically have his mamura. I put him
in and rip him out because it's it's just tough.
It's impossible, it's too tight. I couldn't do it either.
So fush back to picture day last week and he
(16:14):
is supposed to be wearing his game jersey for the pictures, obviously,
So I go and I go to drop him off
and he's wearing it's a reversible jersey. He's wearing the
white side, okay, And we pull up and everyone is
wearing the green side and I'm going, buddy, here, let
me let me help you change and so I can,
you know, switch your shirt around so you can get it, Goes. No, Dad,
I got it, buddy. You can't get this jersey off
(16:36):
and back on on your own. You gotta let me
do it, Dad, I haven't, Dad, No, No, Dad? Now
is we're in the parking lot, like I'm I'm ready
to let him walk onto the bag.
Speaker 9 (16:45):
Fail.
Speaker 6 (16:45):
You can't do it in front of the friends.
Speaker 4 (16:47):
Well, what was I gonna do? We're there like this is?
Speaker 6 (16:49):
We just pulled off off to the side.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
Well, so I'm saying, I'm like, hey, do you want
me to Stopody goes, No, I got this. I can
handle this. Okay, Bud, whatever, get out, I leave, I
go home. I come to pick him up for practice,
and I see his grumpiness walking over towards me. Afterwards.
I'm like, well, I was practice, buddy, Goes. It was fine,
he goes, but I got stuck in my jersey and
two of my buddies had to pull it off, and
(17:12):
then the coach had to help me put it back on.
He was like, it was so embarrassing. You should have
helped me, Dad. I'm like, what are we talking about here?
Speaker 5 (17:19):
Honestly, it just gets you ready in girl land. That's
beautiful because you're gonna be living with roommates for like
four years. They're gonna be stitching you up in every
outfit you wear. Schmennie, I've seen him get stuck in
that jersey before. He looks like a Chinese finger trap
standing up.
Speaker 4 (17:34):
Just Yre and forth. It's not pleasant.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
Movies, music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 5 (17:47):
Well, a huge break in the Beyonce case and arrest
has been made in the theft of unreleased Beyonce music. However,
the songs and all the writing is still missing. Atlanta
police say Calvin Evans was arrested for allegedly breaking into
an suv over the summer and taking the superstars very
(18:09):
secret property. You'll remember the nine one one call from
one of her members of her team.
Speaker 9 (18:14):
They stole like my computers and everything. But it has
a tracker on it, and it's really really important information
in there, Like I work with someone who is like
of a high status and I really need my computer
and everything.
Speaker 5 (18:28):
So cops responded to a parking garage back in July.
Based on the report of this theft, it was a
choreographer and a dancer who said the trunk window of
their Chief Wagoneer had been damaged and.
Speaker 6 (18:38):
Two suitcases were stolen.
Speaker 5 (18:41):
Police say the hard drives had unreleased music, setlists, footage
plans for her Cowboy Carter tour. Evans currently housed in
the Fulton County jail, but police have not recovered those
hard drives, so all of this information is still out
there somewhere, which is still not great news for Beyonce.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
I had forgotten about this. Yeah, I guess I'm surprised
that the person didn't know what they had. That's all
I can think of is that they baby didn't know
what they had what they.
Speaker 5 (19:08):
Do, and they're just like coming up with a financial plan.
Speaker 6 (19:11):
Wonder if you're gonna extort her.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
Get me out of trouble, and I'll give you back
all this music.
Speaker 5 (19:15):
Tom Brady is proving he is really hands on and
his role with the Las Vegas Raiders, and fans are
wondering if this is all up to snuff. So remember
Brady is now a minority owner in the Vegas Raiders
and he's also a broadcaster for Monday Night Football. Well,
during the broadcast on Monday, you could see that while
(19:37):
he wasn't in the broadcast booth, he was actually up
in the coaches booth. Not really sure what's going on here,
but the NFL is coming out with the statement addressing
all of the controversy around that booth visit, saying he
violated zero rules by simply hanging with the coaches and
wearing a headset during the game. It was also mentioned
(19:58):
that he has consistent unication with the offensive coordinator Chip Kelly,
as well as head coach Pete Carroll. In a press
conference yesterday, Pete said, this is all just friendly stuff.
Speaker 10 (20:09):
That's not accurate. That's not accurate. That's not accurate. We
have conversations. I talked to Tom. Chip talks to Tom regularly.
I mean, we have a tremendous asset and so, you know,
and we all get along well and we respect each other,
and so we just talked, you know, about life and
football and whatever it comes.
Speaker 5 (20:27):
Now, naturally people are still like this feels like a
real conflict of interest and his access to teams could
give an unfair advantage for Vegas. NFL says nothing's wrong.
Speaker 4 (20:38):
Well, I think it helps that they lost. That the
Raiders got their butts whoped by the Chargers, I think
helps just a little bit because I think if they
were having a little bit more success and Tom was
gleaded on that the league might be a little upset.
Speaker 5 (20:51):
And finally, some fishy business going on as Disney World
is now investigating a man who robbed a restaurant in
scuba gear. So according to Orange County Sheriff's Office, the
scuba diver popped into a Disney Springs restaurant and stole
ten to twenty thousand dollars. This is the Paddlefish. It
(21:14):
happened shortly after midnight on Monday. Apparently he popped out
of the water. He forced two employees to stand in
the corner and cover their eyes. He grabbed the cash,
He grabbed the cash, reportedly put his wet suit and
scuba gear back on before hopping into a pond to
make his escape.
Speaker 4 (21:34):
I love it.
Speaker 5 (21:35):
The whole thing only took a couple minutes, and so
far it's working because according to the Sheriff's office, this
suspect is on the loose and they do not have
anyone in custody.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
I mean, bravo, the idea get away in scuba gear
is a difficult one to wrap your mind around. Very
little Mermaid, it's too fantastic that you were like, no.
Speaker 5 (21:55):
No, no, no, hey, turn around, it's time out rush awesome,
Oh of your celeb scoop at West Michigan Star dot Com.
Speaker 4 (22:04):
Let's do it your time to battle Battle of these Sexes?
Look at to land you over at GLC Live at
twenty mine Row next year to see comedian Kathleen Maddigan.
Speaker 5 (22:12):
Yeah, this is going down in April, actually, just a
couple days after tax days. You know she's gonna have
some good humor about that.
Speaker 6 (22:18):
Battle of the Sexes.
Speaker 5 (22:19):
This Morning has the question one hundred men surveyed name
an occupation that earns the most money for the least work.
Speaker 4 (22:27):
I mean, who do you think's got it better? Models?
Are actors? Schmitty models?
Speaker 5 (22:31):
I don't think they can eat so properly. Actors? Yeah,
preason number one. I'm not on the catwalk, y'all. See
how many tacos I eat? They just would not be interested.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
Great strut.
Speaker 5 (22:41):
I don't know six one, six, four, eight, one oh
five seven callers seven We are looking for the number
one answer. One hundred men surveyed, name an occupation that
earns the most money for the least work four one

Speaker 4 (22:57):

let's see if we can get you hooked up with
these Kathleen Madigan tickets. Got to tell me. One hundred guys,
we're asked to name the occupation that's gonna earn the
most amount of money for doing the least amount of work.
What do you think that top answer is, Austin?
Speaker 11 (23:17):
How about an attorney?
Speaker 4 (23:20):
An attorney, a lawyer. Yeah, it feels like they're making
boatloads of cash while really only doing small hours worth
of work. But lawyer is actually the number three most
common answer. I'm sorry, Austin. Okay, thank you, Hi Star.
Who's this? Mike? Mike? Where you calling from today? All right, Mike,
(23:45):
let's see if we can get you hooked up here.
One hundred dudes, we're asked what occupation will earn the
most of money for doing the least amount of work?
And I have heard lawyer already, which was the number
three most common answer, but not the top one. Mike,
what do you think it is?
Speaker 10 (23:57):
I think it's a CEO.
Speaker 4 (23:59):
You think it's a c e Oh you know what,
you already did all the hard work. That's how you
got to the top. That or your dad owns the company.
Either way, you're not doing much work. CEO is the
time answers. Congratulations, Mike, appreciate it. Yeah, you're bringing the
missus here to West Michigan, up to Grand Rapid so
that you guys can come and enjoy Kathleen Madigan in
(24:19):
April of next year. That should be an amazing show. Yeah,
it's gonna be a great one, and we'll get choked
up again tomorrow as we battle yet again. Eight point
fifteen here on start one on five points step so
no wing a five points. See. Have a good morning
to you. It's Mack and Schmidty and I want to
talk about things that get us excited. Schmidty really think
it sounds like a great idea to do, but it
rarely is, and you often forget because you put some
(24:41):
time between them and I put this up on Facebook.
I'm gonna give the example that I'm bringing this all
up for I have actually never had a good time
on a picnic. Oh really, I'm talking about the full on,
sit your butt on the ground, lay a blanket out,
bring the food in a basket, staree typical picnic. It
sounds lovely, sounds like a beautiful thing if you're taking
(25:04):
out on a date or you're trying to be romantic
or anything like that. Now, as a parent, I think
about it with my kids, and that's what we're gonna do.
Over the weekend. We were gonna go over to Cascade Park.
I had packed up some sandwiches and we were gonna
go do picnic style. I lasted about three minutes on
the grounds before I was like, what are we doing? Like,
I'm sorry, but this is so uncomfortable. No man in
(25:26):
his forties who's ever been comfortable sitting Indian style on
the ground.
Speaker 6 (25:30):
Chrisscross apple, You're never doing it right.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
Ever.
Speaker 5 (25:34):
So we've been doing a ton of picnics this summer
because we've been going to polo matches with the Grand
Rabbits Polo Club. You need the like low to the
ground chairs, the picnic basket that folds down into a table,
the drink holders, like it is the most fun I
think I've had with my kids in a super long time.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
I don't disagree, just the just the addition of a
picnic table changes the whole thing, That's what I'm saying.
After less than five minutes, I was like, we're just
getting up, like, let's just go over to table like
civilized human beans. But there's always things in your head
that didn't that's not the romanticized picnic I want to
go on. I'm thinking of the check red and white
checkered blanket, and it's magical, and we're sitting on the
(26:12):
grass and you completely forget that there is no way
to sit on the grass and eat meal that's comfortable.
Speaker 6 (26:18):
You know, I didn't forget that. I don't sit on
the ground.
Speaker 5 (26:21):
Maybe I'm not romantic, you guys, but I've got a
back of like a fifty five year old. I don't
send on no grounding and sandwiches.
Speaker 4 (26:28):
What is something for you that you always feel like
it's it's going to be awesome, and it's usually a
let down amusement parks, it's amusement. I knew I was
tired if someone was going to say.
Speaker 5 (26:36):
That kids with kids, honestly anything with kids. And I
don't mean this in a mean way. All I'm going
to say in every parent listening, not a vacation. It's
a trip. Yes, it's true trip, not a vacation. You
can do everything in your power to make it as
magical as possible. But someone will be hot, someone will
be hungry, Somebody will need to go potty when there
is no potties around.
Speaker 6 (26:57):
It's just what it is.
Speaker 4 (26:58):
Somebody said this to me, and this is a hot
take here Schmidty concerts and I I kind of agree
that if you are excited about a concert, but then
you go and you have bad seats, or you happen
to have somebody who's six foot nine standing directly in
front of you, or the sound is bad, a concert
can be ruined so easily, where you just feel like
(27:19):
you're standing in an incredibly loud room not getting to
enjoy what you're there for.
Speaker 5 (27:22):
I feel much better, April on Facebook, water parks or
similar places.
Speaker 6 (27:26):
They always sound like fun till it isn't.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
Listen do it. Let's make a beautiful day even nicer.
Right now feeling good on start one oh five, four
and seven, what's happened? Smiddy?
Speaker 5 (27:36):
Well, you know that foster care is something I'm very
passionate about. I volunteer with one of our wonderful organizations
here in town, Da Blodge at Saint John's, and it's
clearly something that's very important to actor and comedian Keegan
Michael Key, the Michigan native on hand for a very
special celebration in New York with the Bananas Foster Celebration.
(27:56):
So of course we've heard of the Savannah Bananas and
all the writable good will work that they do, but
they were making a big difference making sure to welcome
a bunch of foster youth officially becoming adopted. This is
really cool for Keegan. He himself came from foster care.
He grew up just outside of Detroit, and this was
(28:18):
something he knew he couldn't miss.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
Ilmas celebrated this amazing family. Please welcome adopted out of
foster care.
Speaker 5 (28:26):
And now Jimmy's a born winning actor from hem he
keyan Michael is a really special moment and the foster
kids that have found their forever families.
Speaker 6 (28:40):
The only thing that's probably cooler than that. Got the
video for you at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 4 (28:44):
I Chmiddy a retired Virginia couple Mike and Judy macnamara.
They've been going to Texas roadhouses for quite a while.
Back in two thousand and three, they actually tried their
first one. They were on vacation from their Virginia home
visiting Knoxville, Tennessee. I went to Texas Roadhouse. So and
whether it was those buckets of peanuts, so the freshly
baked rolls, something definitely stuck with them. Because when Judy
(29:06):
ultimately retired and joined Mike in retirement back in twenty seventeen,
they actually went back through and looked at all their
credit card statements and found out that over the years
they had eaten at a total of thirty seven Texas
Roadhouse locations, thirty seven of them. There's quite a few
over the years. Well, that's when they decided they were
going to start planning their entire retirement around Texas roadhouses.
(29:28):
All of their open road vacations were going to be
headed to places where they could visit their favorite restaurant.
And they stopped in Grandville over at the Texas Roadhouse
there just last week's Middy. That was their five hundred
and twenty fourth Texas Roadhouse that they have been to
since retiring in twenty seventeen. We're talking Alaska to Arkansas,
(29:52):
the beaches of Miami, all the way up here to Michigan,
and they are just decked out in all things Texas Roadhouse.
They feel like part of the family. Is They told
Fox seventeen.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
Weren't had a good time meeting a lot of nice people,
eating some great food, set into countryside again. Texas Roadhouse
is a big family, and I hope that they consider
us part of it now.
Speaker 4 (30:14):
I mean they've got to. Oftentimes the restaurants are giving
a heads up that this very special couple is coming through,
and that was the case for manager over at that
Grandville location, Kayla Tuttele, who was just blown away by
all the gear that they were rocking during their visit.
Speaker 11 (30:30):
Heck, yeah, it's our time to shine over here in
little Grandville, Michigan. They walked in. They have more merch
than I do. They're wrapping so much Texas Roadhouse stuff.
There's a cameraman here. They feel like celebrities.
Speaker 4 (30:42):
I mean they come in wearing pin shirts, ear rings,
and then there's stuffed armadillos. The Texas Roadhouse mascot with
them as well, and you know, as much fun as
they have eating the food and the deliciousness, they just
talked about how much enjoying the staff and meeting all
the people and all the travels have meant to them.
So Texas Roadhouse retirement.
Speaker 6 (31:01):
Weird but fun. Flex there you go.
Speaker 4 (31:02):
Definitely feeling good coming at you a couple times today.
I always want to tell you about crazy things happening
out there or people doing amazing things. So we'll do
that for you tomorrow six forty five and nine twenty
here on Star
Speaker 3 (31:12):
Mack and Schmidty in the morning weekday, starting at six
am on Star one oh five point seven
