Speaker 1 (00:02):
It gets my day going.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
It makes me laugh. I love it. Mac and Schmitty
in the morning on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
I'm o, Ona Schmitty, welcome into weekendy my friends.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Are you sure?

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Because I was pretty certain multiple times yesterday that yesterday
was Thursday.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Yeah, it's happened to me quite a bit.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Oh man, is that a disappointing invastating to have multiple times?
But here we are weekend or what is it? Weekend
Eve or Friday Junior. I liked Friday Junior's O you're
Friday Junior.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
I'm a weekend Eve. Doesn't matter. You're waking up with
Star one oh five point seven and we're gonna make
it worth it. Another stunning day ahead. I'm gotta tell you,
I would probably hold off on fall if we continue
with these mid eighties that feels like mid seventies. We
went on a walk last night and I thought, this
weather is absolutely top notch. I was loving it.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
I'm one hundred percent with you. We get another day
like that today with TEMs skidding into the mid eighties
today with lots of sunshine coming our way, a perfect
day for the start of art price MINDI.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Yeah, so this is the VIP today, so this is
invitation only, but you can still see a few of
the art installations. I gotta tell you guys, though, the
artists themselves really want you to see them when they
are completely finished and ready to go. So tomorrow night
is the massive opening celebration, so we'll have all the
details West Michigan Star dot com Rosa Park Circle with

(01:24):
the parade to the Pearl Street Bridge, light show, fireworks.
So while you can see some stuff today where it
technically opens, tomorrow is that massive public opening and it's
going to be a lot of fun the next couple weeks.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Yeah, don't bury the lead. Yours truly over there.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Schmidy gonna be out there tomorrow night hosting all of
those festivities.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
It's going to be a lot of fun.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
With that movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
Well this was breaking news around seven o'clock last night,
Jimmy Kimmel in time out with ABC, the network announcing
the air suspend over comments he made about the alleged
Charlie Kirk killer. So before ABC announced the move, station
owner next our media group said that they strongly objected
to recent comments made by mister Kimmel concerning the killing

(02:13):
of Charlie Kirk and would replace the show with other
programming in its ABC affiliated markets next. Our owns ABC
affiliates in thirty two cities across the US, including some
big markets like New Orleans, Nashville, and Salt Lake City.
So this is very interesting already some major backlash in Hollywood.

(02:33):
Jimmy has not spoken publicly about this. He was caught
on camera running out to his suv along with other
crew members and co hosts last night. Sag AFTRA and
the Writer's Guild of America both slamming ABC and parent
company Disney for this pause. Writing our society depends on
freedom of expression. Suppression of free speech and retaliation for

(02:57):
speaking out on significant issues of public concern run counter
to the fundamental rights we all rely on. Democracy thrives
when diverse points of view are expressed. The decision to
suspend airing Jimmy Kimmel alive is the type of suppression
and retaliation that endangers everyone's freedoms. There's a lot to

(03:18):
get to this morning. With this coming up next hour,
I'm going to tell you what the FCC director is saying.
Jimmy could actually be under federal investigation with this.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Well, and it's going to be really interesting to watch
this unfold as to whether or not the show is
on a temporary hiatus or whether this is fully canceled.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
It's been somewhat reported.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
They're saying pause right now. Everything. I'm saying pause as
they're figuring this out. Rapper Cardi B and her boyfriend
Stefan Diggs are having a baby. The rapper announcing her
pregnancy on CBS yesterday, her fourth child, but first with Diggs.
Very excited.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
Well, yes i am. I'm having a baby with my
boyfriend Stefan Daggs.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Congratulations, thank you. Congratulations.

Speaker 5 (04:02):
How are you feeling about that and that this will
be baby number four for you?

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Card Congratulations, thank you.

Speaker 5 (04:09):
I'm actually very I'm excited. I'm happy. I feel like
I'm in a good space. I feel very strong. I
feel very powerful that I'm doing all this work. But
I'm doing all this work while I'm creating a baby.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
Yeah, this is work. She's talking about being in the
studio working on some new music, possibly even a tour.
She has two kids, of course, with rapper, offset and
three kids. Excuse me, so this will be her fourth
but sounds very excited. Stefan has not said anything, but
she said very supportive. They're both at very similar moments
in their careers, so they think this is a perfect

(04:42):
move together.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
This was like the worst KEP secret of all time.
I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Numbers had been flying for quite a while. Finally, Justin
Bieber making history at Coachella. He will officially be the
highest paid performer in the event's history. I find this
to be a huge deal because you're talking about making
more than Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and Kanye for this a
ten million dollar paycheck for two weekends at the iconic

(05:11):
Cali festival, and he did it all in his own terms.
According to a source, this is a groundbreaking move for
a headliner, and it's something he built entirely on his own.
Between headlining Coachella and the success of Swag, it is
clear this is the start of an exciting new era
for Justin and one where he is fully in the
driver's seat.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
I'm shocked because you are giving more money than you've
given it any artist. I don't feel like his music, I
don't feel like his music is on the same level
of Beyonce and Lady Gaga and other artists they've had
in the package.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
Festival thinks it is a million.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
On top of that, though, like, I guess you're risking
the idea of Justin actually coming through and doing this.
When's the last time Justin to Justin Bieber has given
fans a full good show years.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
I would I, I don't know, it's two shows, it's
one each weekend. You're making ten million bucks. I feel
like the dad in him is like, yeah, I should
probably provide for my fam. I've got more details on
that with your scoop at West Michigan Star dot Com.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Let's do this shead it into a weekend. Even a
little more positivity coming your way. It's feeling good right
now in Star Wino fon points seven, Mackaschmitty with you
And yesterday our West Michigan white Caps returned home as
champions after Tuesday night's victory to become the Midwest League champions,
the seventh title for the white Caps and the first

(06:34):
since twenty fifteen, and there were fans on hand greeting
the guys as everybody was going nuts. Longtime fans Abigail
Schmidt and Fred van Denbergert caught up with Fox seventeen
talking about just how happy they were for this year's
white Caps.

Speaker 5 (06:56):
I hope they know how happy everybody is.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
I feel like it's really cool just to see how
much they know how proud we.

Speaker 6 (07:02):
Are that it's the best season I can remember seeing.
And I've been Washington in since practically day one, and
I've seen a lot of bad teams and a lot
of good teams. Would they go to see this has
probably been as consistent the team the whole year as ever.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Friend's not wrong.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
This is one of the best white Caps teams ever,
one of the best Minor league baseball teams ever, statistically
a ninety six wins including the playoffs. Now several of
the team's individual members get their flowers, too, including shortstop
Isaac Bacheko, the white Caps all time home run leader,
was named the Most Valuable Player in the Midwest League.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
The MVP.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Twenty two year old was seventeen home runs this year,
sixty eight RBIs and played all season with the white Caps.
Fellow shortstop Kevin McGonagall was called up midseason was named
the top prospects in the Midwest League. By the way,
he's the Tigers top prospect as well, and then five
white Caps in total. Earning All Star Game nods include Pacheco,

(08:01):
John Peck, Max Clark, Colin Fields, and Andrew Sears. Not
to mention Tony Capacelli was named Manager of the Year.
Basically the whole roster getting awards almost it's pretty sweet,
all right.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
You're never too old to be a swifty Just to
ask ninety five year old Frank Uryat. She lives in
Omaha and has started his very own Taylor's Swift Fan
Club at his retirement home. Frank knows all too well
how awesome it is to be a swiftye. He first
learned about Taylor just about a year ago thanks to

(08:36):
his physical therapist that he works with. Started listening to
her music and realized it's very uplifting, it's very hopeful.
Plus he just happens to be a huge Kansas City
Chiefs fan, So when he found out Taylor was engaged
to Travis Kelcey, he actually wrote her a letter inviting
her to play bingo at the retirement home as a

(08:57):
pre wedding nuptial. He started club, which now boasts multiple
members from across the retirement facility. They are holding a
special countdown for the new album Life of a Showgirl,
planned to have a party and for the staff at
this retirement home. It is just the cutest moment to
watch the sense of community and Frank's got some pretty

(09:18):
awesome dance moves. I've got the story up West Michigan
Star dot Com.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
I mean, honestly, if the Swifties pushed this news along
a little bit, they couldn't get back to Taylor. It
would never shock me to see Taylor come and play
Bengo with her.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Thanks.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
Real cute. Honestly, you got to see the picture.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Cute Swifty out there feeling good coming at to you
a couple times the day to Live Spirits.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
We do it again at nine sent movies.

Speaker 4 (09:38):
Music and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
It's the celebrity scoop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
Well it was breaking scoop last night, Jimmy Kimmel on
pause with ABC the networks suspending him over what he
said about the alleged Charlie Kirk killer. So this started
when Next Star Media Group Jones. Multiple ABC affiliates across
the country said they strongly objected to recent comments made

(10:05):
by mister Kimmel, and they will be replacing his show
with other programming in those ABC affiliated markets. The statement
in question, a lot of people believe is talking about
hitting new lows when the Maga gang, according to Kimmel,
was desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie
Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing

(10:27):
everything they can to score political points from it. ABC
then making the announcement. This is very interesting because the
FCC is now involved. Brendan Carr, who is the commission chairman,
when on the Benny Show podcast last night, said the
agency is even contemplating launching a federal probe into Kimmel

(10:48):
and his show over those comments.

Speaker 7 (10:50):
You know there's gonna be additional work for the FCC ahead.
I mean, obviously, look, there's calls for kim will be fire.
I think you know, you could certainly see a path
fow for suspension over this. And again, you know, the
FCC is going to have remedies that we could look at, and.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
Again, you know, we may ultimately be called to be
a judge on that.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
There's been no official remark from Jimmy Kimmel just yet.
He was seen exiting the studio last night. However, Hollywood
has gone hard on this, including both the stag AFTRA
and WGA Writers Guild of America slamming this as suppression
of free speech.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
Well, and I think on the wake of the Stephen
Colbert news it feels like, you know, it's happening sort
of again, where the heavyweights out there in media are
sort of pressuring these late night hosts to hit the road.
If you're not going to get online.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
Take a look at the comments section you want to
talk political divide. Here we are at Sharon now revealing
how his nine year relationship with his wife, Cherry Seaborn
has been affected by having kids. He admits things have
completely changed since the arrival of five year old Lira
and three year old Jupiter. Talking with the son, he said,

(12:02):
anyone with two young kids knows it completely changes your relationship.
You go from being a couple to a unit, and
it can be quite stressful and you can have some
pretty big arguments. Referring to some of his past musical
tributes to his wife, he said, I think Cherry knows
that she had songs like Heaven and perfect, but that
is not our reality one hundred percent of the time.

(12:24):
And it's also really good to be honest. She also
knows that I write songs like Don't Look Down or
Wargame off the new album and it's a moment in
time how I felt not our reality all the time. Also,
that's what makes a marriage really strong. I loved this interview.
It was really cool.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
You got to drop in the new album line a
couple of times in there.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
I noticed, all right, And finally Martha Stewart talking her
thirst traps and girlfriend knows what's going on. She may
be eighty four years young, but she was on the
Today Show yesterday filling in with Jenna and Friends, and
when asked if she gets a lot of attention of
those saucy picks, she admits tons of people slide into

(13:05):
her dms. When asked if she is dating, she told Jenna, no,
I'm not dating anybody special, but I do have lots
of friends. My friends are special and keep me very happy.
So now the Internet thinks Martha Stewart has a bunch
of friends with benefits.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
It's what it sounds like.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
She happens, all right, all of your celebsco but West
Michigan start off.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
Huh, thanks for starting this Thursday morning went out with us.
It's Mac and Schmiddy and you're just talking toys.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
Yeah, Oh my gosh. Did you see the announcement yesterday
the official twenty twenty six Girl of the Year from
the American Girl Doll Story.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
No believe it. I didn't have that. Oh.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
You and I have very different algorithms, obviously, but if
you missed it, it was a huge announcement on GMA,
and we met Raquel Reyes. She is ten. She lives
in Kansas City, where her parents run a shop that
sells Palais TuS. She has a little brother and a
Pomeranian rescue. She likes to DJ, played pickleball, and she
also has a passion for animal rescue. But the reason

(14:05):
I bring this up is because A I love the
American Girls. I still follow everything. I still have all
of the series of books from when I was a kid.
But finally us millennials get what we have been waiting for.
The ogs given a nod. This is so cool. Rock
Hella is actually the great great granddaughter of Samantha Parkington.

Speaker 6 (14:26):
All.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
I don't care who you are well, that's because people
listening will you were either there was Felicity, Kirsten, Addie, Samantha, Molly.
Those are the original five girls?

Speaker 1 (14:38):
Is this that as section?

Speaker 2 (14:40):
Oh my god?

Speaker 3 (14:41):
All right, So Samantha lived in the early nineteen hundreds,
and any one of my millennial girls listening right now
knows that you were most likely a Samantha. I also
loved Felicity, but you wanted to be a Samantha. Her
clothes were so great, she was like Victorian, and she
had this really rich house. And all of the comments
have exploded with these women in their like late time
twenties and thirties going thank you so much for finally

(15:03):
giving a throwback, because I don't know if I would
really buy the American Girls now, because I just loved
the original storylines. I mean, you had everything from like
the Frontier to World War Two to the Industrial Revolution.
Slavery was an entire unit of girl books like and
I just thought, maybe, maybe, just maybe I finally have

(15:26):
the money to buy an American Girl doll, because I
will tell you, besides my life size Barbie, the other
gift I never got as a kid. And my mom's
probably listening right now, and just rolling her eyes was
an American girl doll because in all honesty, looking back,
they were wicked expensive. They were really really top tier pricing.
But as an adult, I totally want to buy Samantha.

(15:49):
I want to get her. I want to get all
of her clothes. I want to get all the accessories,
and then what, I want to dress like her and
play with it. I have a four year old daughter
that would lose her mind over an American girl dolls.
So I posted this story you can see rock Hell
on our Facebook, and I said, if there was ever
a toy you did not get as a kid, what
was it? And Abby posted and Erector set.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
Oh, yeah, those directors were cool.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
I don't know if they still sell connects. Connects were
huge for my brothers. But then she goes, my daughter
just got an easy bake of it and act like
I am not living vicariously through here through her, and
I was like, Abbey girl, and bite me over. We're
about to make so many brownies that are probably so
unhealthy because they never understood how they could fit those

(16:33):
ingredients and something that just had a light bulb eating
it up.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
Honestly, Oh good giving my child an easy bake of
It was the best decision because it just led to
weeks and weeks of cookies and cakes and everything else.
Because it's no problem to be the official taste test.
But did you have a toy for me? It's one
that I think a lot of nineties boys definitely, we're
into you girls too. A game Boy all my friends headache.

(16:57):
Of course, those were way too expense for my family
to go and get for one individual kid.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
My brothers both got game Boy colors, and my parents
will tell you the story to this day. It took
them seven weeks of going to every single store every
single day because the game Boy colors were gone, they
were sold out.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
My parents put forth zero efforts. Oh I think I
heard laughter when I said I wanted a game Boy.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
You know what, They're back like my brother found his home.
He's like, it still works. I still got games for it.

Speaker 8 (17:29):
Man.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
What is the one toy you never got as a
kid that you would totally buy as an adult? Six
one six, four, five eight, one oh five seven.

Speaker 4 (17:38):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
Okay, we're starting to get a few more tidbits about
the big Travis Kelsey Taylor Swift wedding. On yesterday's episode
of The New Heights podcast, Jimmy Fallon guest starred with
the brothers and asked what Trav was thinking in terms
of that wedding planning.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
I just got to figure out when a football came first. Yeah,
you gotta do one of that, compared to trying to
figure out catching football. Yeah, but you gotta do DJ
or band. Are you thinking about all this stuff?

Speaker 7 (18:14):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (18:14):
I think we're we're live music kind of people. You know,
I've seen you. Yeah, Oh that's right, eight am. He
did ac DC Live with the Boo. It was one
of the best things I've ever heard. Well, I've seen
these all growing up. He's always had this in his bag,
not just going there and I send it.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
So No, I'm kind of hoping that we see some
kind of Travis pop on stage serenade his bride situation.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
I mean, it would add to the ridiculous I'd rather.
I was gonna say, as long as Jason is his
backup vocals, I'm cool with.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
It, I guess.

Speaker 3 (18:50):
Jimmy Kimmel on pause with ABC The Breaking News last night,
the network suspending him over comments he made about alleged
Charlie Kirk, Hiller, Tyler Robinson. This started before ABC made
the move, when next Our Media Group said they were
going to replace Jimmy Kimme Alive with other programming in
its ABC affiliated markets. Hollywood has now sounded off many celebrities,

(19:16):
Ben Stiller posting on X this isn't right, Frozen, actor
Josh Gadd writing I see we are at the passive
participation of authoritarianism. Now, God help us all. Actress Alison Bracing,
this is unreal and very scary. Henry Winkler said his insights,
his humor important to keep showing us who we are,

(19:37):
and he is a wonderful fellow. Even Jamie Lee Curtis,
who had that tearful statement earlier this week about the
death of Charlie Kirk, said I just don't think anybody
should be canceled. I really don't no official word yet
from Jimmy or the team. They were seen exiting the
studio last night after ward came down.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
It to be really interesting to see how this develops
and whether or not it's a hermanent change.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
It is.

Speaker 3 (20:01):
Yeah, if you missed it last hour or the FCC
said they are even looking into a possible federal investigation
into the show. Finally, for fans of the Netflix hit
this summer, I turned pretty you are getting a full
length feature film. I saw the internet go wild at
this yesterday. If you're not watching the show, I'm not,
and I guess I need to be. This is based

(20:21):
on the book trilogy of a Bit of a Trio.
Here it's Bella choosing between two Belly excuse me, choosing
between two brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah. Plot details are being
very secretive, but the exciting news was revealed on the
red carpet in Paris, where all three actors were at
Creator and writer Jenny said, there's another big milestone left

(20:43):
in Belly's journey, and I thought only a movie could
give its proper due. I also wanted to do this
story because did you see the Detroit Lions post yesterday?
Their front office actually texted some of the players and said, hey,
are you guys team Conrad or team Jeremiah. Jared Goff responded,
ha ha, let me ask Kristen. She says Conrad alec anzelone.

(21:08):
Alex Anceloni wrote, oh, picking sides in the ultimate fictional
heart thrub showdown, tough call. Conrad's got that brooding, soulful vibe,
perfect for a rainy day romance. Gabriel, though, brings the
charm with a side of mystery, like he's hiding a
secret only you can uncover. Honestly, it depends on the move.
Conrad for deep talks by the beach, Gabriel for a

(21:29):
spontaneous adventure that's in depth. The Lion's office posted wait
a minute, I'm crying, to which Anseloni said that was ai.
I have zero clue what you're talking about, so it's
pretty fantastic, they asked a bunch of the players. I've
got it, posted with your scoop at West Michigan Star
dot com.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Seven to five point seven. Let's do it Time two
Battle Battle of the Sexes. Getting you out for some fun,
maybe date night, maybe girls night. You're going to see
Kathleen Mannigan over a GLC live at twenty in row.

Speaker 3 (21:58):
This is coming up April seven, feenth of next year.
Such a solid show. One hundred men surveyed. Name a
vehicle that would also be a kid's toy?

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Does it have to be real? Because Millennium falcon is
the correct answer?

Speaker 3 (22:10):
Oh man, right? Six one six, four, five eight, one
oh five seven caller seven one hundred men surveyed name
a vehicle that would also be a kids toy? You
get that number one answer? You are going to Kathleen
Madigan with Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Good morning Star. Who's this coy tory? Where are you
at this morning?

Speaker 5 (22:31):
I'm in Grand Rapid.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
All right, Corey, let's get you to see comedian Kathleen
Madigan so funny and she could be at Jelse.

Speaker 1 (22:38):
Live at twenty in row. You'll win if you tell
me the top answer.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
When one hundred dudes, Corey were asked to name a
vehicle that would also be a kid's toy, what's the
top answer there? Well, my son is pretty obsessed with truck. Well,
you know what, it is, a truck, but it's a
very specific type of truck. So I'm gonna need that
type of truck because my top two answers are both trucks.

Speaker 7 (23:01):
Ooh, how about a garbage truck?

Speaker 2 (23:05):
How about a garbage truck aka a dump truck. I
don't know what one hundred guys they asked this. It's
definitely a vehicle, but I guess I don't remember having
too many dump trucks as a kid. I had a
lot of bulldozers and stuff like that. But you were
and your son were right online because.

Speaker 1 (23:23):
Dump truck's the top answer again, going to Kathleen Madigan, congrats,
thank you.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
By the way, it was dump truck followed by fire truck,
which is what I thought people were probably gonna come
away with this that top answer. Maybe police car which
was the number four, or tractor that was the number
three most common answer, and bulldozer finally your number five
most common answer today. All good toys, all good choices
right there, But congratulations. Kathleen Madigan's coming in April of

(23:51):
next year. Over to GLC Live at twenty in row
and you will be there. Corey come on in too.
It's Mack and Schmidy and let's talk about the apps
and specifically the one that you feel like you needed
to block or just straight up delete it because you
were using it too much and you didn't feel like
it was good use of your time at all. And
from my wife and I, we had this conversation after

(24:13):
I just blocked X or Twitter or whatever the heck
you want to call it. And you know, really it's
for obvious reasons. I mean, all the Charlie Kirk stuff,
all the political stuff, all the terribleness that's on.

Speaker 3 (24:25):
You're having a MENTV.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
Yeah, I needed to get away from that. What's that
acronym mean?

Speaker 3 (24:31):
Mental breakdown?

Speaker 2 (24:32):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (24:32):
A MENTV? Yeah, because you last alonger than me. I
dumped X probably five months ago. I need to I'm
probably gonna delete it right now.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
Though.

Speaker 2 (24:40):
What I did is I put up I downloaded an
app blocker. And I didn't just do X. I did
social media just in general. And it wasn't because that
Facebook and Instagram are so bad. That's a little bit
more controlled. But X specifically was just really bringing me down.
And I was having a conversation with my wife about it,
and I'm like, you know, I downloaded this app blocker.
I just don't want to even have the option of

(25:00):
subconsciously just tapping buttons, because that's what it was for me.
I felt like I was just opening apps, you know,
for no reason at all, closing them and.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
Opening them back up, even though there was nothing else.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
For me to go look for. It wasn't serving me
at all. And she's like, yeah, I totally get that.
I'm like, what what were you just you know, two
into She's like, Candy Crush.

Speaker 3 (25:19):
Oh dude, I yeah, I have heard that could be
a rough one.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
Wait wait wait wait wait, I'm I am, you know,
actually having all these existential crises over the fate of
the world and what's going on out there, and you're like, oh, yeah,
I can totally relate, Candy Crush.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
What are we talking about here? I look completely different.

Speaker 3 (25:37):
This is really interesting. When I saw you were going
to talk about this, I was kind of looking if
there was like any research on just the apps that
are really really bad for your mental health, because as
a parent, that's exactly what I've been deep diving to
figure out what I can try to keep my kids
away from as long as possible, because I know, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat,
they're not really great levels of serotonin for your life.

Speaker 1 (25:56):
No, for not.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
But I got a really great hack actually from Brandon,
and he turns all of his notifications off. Yeah, so
he doesn't get rid of the apps, but he doesn't
get notified about anything. He goes all of my social
media lives in a folder that I have to swipe
three times over on my phone, and I don't get
a single notification nothing. I don't know what's happening on Facebook.
I don't know what's happening on Instagram. Because for me

(26:19):
and my personality and this job, anytime, I mean, if
I see something pop up, boom, you guys know, if
you're in my DMS, I respond almost immediately all day long.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
I am the opposite of that because I have news
alerts on, but I have no notifications of any social
media that come through on my phone and tell me
what's what's going on.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
Because I'm doing stuff across every platform for four stations.
Like it's just something that's a part of this. But
I really wonder how much of a difference it would
make if you even just turn notifications off.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
What's the app that you feel like you get closest
to spitty that you you're not going to delete it.
You like it too much, you're never going to go
anywhere on it. But at the same time, like you're like,
I use this way too much.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
I don't think I have one.

Speaker 1 (26:59):
You don't have to.

Speaker 2 (26:59):
You're not on TikTok too much, you don't the algorithm
has I wouldn't delete it, No, you wouldn't.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
It wouldn't because I went two weeks last year when
I got banned, and I feel so awful saying it.
It was detrimental, like I did, felt like I didn't
know what was going on. I felt like I was
losing out on things, missing things at work that I
should have been catching for news. Yeah, X was mine.
X was gone five months ago and I have never
looked back.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
My wife would hear that very serious and totally rational
statement that you just based.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
Cash, She'd be like, yeah, Jush, really bad for you.

Speaker 2 (27:34):
Point see, I'm looking to make a nice day even
better right now, feeling good?

Speaker 1 (27:37):
What's going on? Really?

Speaker 3 (27:38):
Hey, y'all, it's bedtime snack time. That's how every single
video starts. For sixty six year old Donna Clements, who
has now been known as the bedtime snack time Woman
on TikTok. This is such a cool story. I started
following her a couple of weeks ago. She explains, being
a recent widow, right before bed is the hardest time

(28:00):
of the day for her because she had a tradition
with her husband for forty three years. Her and her
late husband Patrick would chat over a late night snack
everything from how their day was going to things, coming
up to how they were feeling. He passed away in March,
and Donna had an idea. It started very simply.

Speaker 8 (28:20):
Pay you out to bedtime snack time if you're new
him a recent widow, it's the time of the night
that I missed my husband so much because we used
to have a snack together and talk about our day.
So I've started doing it on TikTok.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
And she does every night. She has millions of followers
that are ready and rare and to see her bedtime snack.
More importantly, though, Donna has found a community.

Speaker 9 (28:44):
So one night, I thought, you know what, I'm just
going to TikTok it like I'm going to tell TikTok
what i would say if Pat was laying here by me. Eventually,
it just, you know, really seemed to take off, and
I've just gained a community at friends. So many people,
you know, they just comment the sweetest and most encouraging

(29:07):
things back to me, and then so many people will
tell me their story. So that's just been very healing
to me.

Speaker 3 (29:14):
Too, she said. The biggest lesson she's learned everybody's grief
journey is different, but in a lot of ways, it's
very much the same. So if you are not following
Dynasy forty one on TikTok, I promise it is going
to be the most wholesome part of your day.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
I mean, that's super sweet. But the Southern draw that
thicks Southern accent.

Speaker 3 (29:33):
Is it's just like your grandma. She just wants to
hang out.

Speaker 2 (29:36):
Mulay elsis all right, smidy. I want to shout out
a three sport athlete from Coopersville who's currently competing for
a spot in the semifinal round for Youth Athlete of
the Year. Her name is Kamora Manhart and she's a
fifth grader who plays football wearing pink cleats. Is a
black shed and quarterback, rushing defensive end, and she wrestles

(29:59):
against the bull where she was her school's first female
to win a state title in wrestling ever and oh yeah,
she's also a gray belt in jiu jitsu while she's
at it again, just ten years old. Youth Athlete of
the Year, though, is a national competition put on by
Colossal in partnership with Sports Illustrated and three Brand, which

(30:19):
is NFL quarterback Russell Wilson's company.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
Now.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
The winner of this competition, though, gets twenty five thousand
dollars and a spot in a three brand ad in
Sports Illustrated, which would just be incredible. Wednesday, Fox seventeen
got to actually catch up with Keamora at football practice
there at Coopersville Middle School.

Speaker 5 (30:40):
I'm best at getting through all the people in second quarterback.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
I feel pretty good knowing.

Speaker 8 (30:45):
That a lot of people voted for me, A lot
of people picked me.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
I accomplish a lot being a girl.

Speaker 7 (30:50):
I like to win.

Speaker 8 (30:51):
It just feels really a good to win, especially to
win against boys.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
Oh yeah, it takes extra pride and beating the boys
and does it quite often.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
To her football coach, Eric Lillbridge.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
Mannhardt's coach there at Coopersville Middle School, just blown away
by her determination and so much more.

Speaker 1 (31:10):
She knows what she wants to do, what she wants
to accomplish.

Speaker 4 (31:13):
She competes, she's coachable, she's humble, she's a great teammate.

Speaker 1 (31:16):
I think with Kimora, she's done this with wrestling in football.
She's having success in all of it, and all of
it in once to keep moving out of this competition too.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
So voting actually ends tonight at ten pm, but you
go to Athleteofthyear dot org again Athlete of the Year
dot org. And you can vote from Kamora Manheart from
right here in Coopersville. That would be really cool to see.

Speaker 1 (31:36):
Yeah, feeling good coming at you a couple of times today.
I always want to share awesome things with you.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
We'll do it again tomorrow six forty five and nine
twenty when you're with us un Star Mack and Schmidt
in the morning weekday starting at six am on Star
one oh five point seven
