Wake, wake, um. Itgets my day going. It makes me
laugh of it. Mac and Schmittyin the morning on Star one. Oh
five point seven, Oh, goodmorning Schmitty, and it's feeling I'm extra
festive today, down to things.Oh boy, good morning guys. Happy
November first, November one. That'sthe first time I've heard it. I

(00:26):
think, oh, yeah, we'regonna have a pack studio today. You
know, even waiting for this,I know we've got a lot of new
people waking up with us right nowbecause you've heard, you've heard the possibility
that today could be the festive, fabulous day that it is. Because yes,
coming up at seven o'clock we becomeWest Michigan's official Christmas station, which
is just a little weird considering afew short hours ago is out tricker treating

(00:50):
with my kids. But that's howwe do. Speaking of that trigger treating,
man, we've got a white Christmason our hands here, thankfully.
Who knows, maybe it'll be theonly one we get, but man,
Muski can last night, what didwe just say? Our friends from Wood
TV just say eight point eight inchesof snow? Yeah, they got absolutely
saland a fine point seven feel goodvariety of the eighties. Still now for

(01:11):
just a little bit longer before wetransform once again into West Michigan's Christmas dag.
Yeah, you just got a littlebit longer as we get ready to
flip that switch at seven. Andyou gotta tell you, my two year
old daughter is clearly very ready forthis. I think she ate more snow
last night than candy. We wentto her treating in East Grand Rapids,
and every single lawn she passed, she scooped up a pile of snow and

(01:34):
shoved it in her mouth. Itis the weirdest thing I've ever seen.
And she was having the time ofher life. Not weird at all,
Sophia. I was doing the samething, same thing where I was walking.
But uh, you gotta be realcautious about the areas you're in.
I mean, at least in EastI feel like y'all keep your lawns pretty
clean, but uh, there's someareas maybe you don't want to be scooping
up any of that snow this morning. How was the hall? How is
the candy Hall? Ray? Yeah? It was good, all right,

(01:56):
man. I don't know. Idon't know if I've had a gear where
I thought my kids got more kingsized candy bars. It was a very
light year for trick or treaters. It is usually slammed when we go out
with our friends, and so youcould tell you were going to houses towards
the end, and they were givingmy kids like five and six bars at
a time, just to like cleanout the stash. How was the adult
trick or treating with friends? Iwent around with a group of full friends
and neighbors, and there was likea stop for fireball trick or treating That

(02:23):
definitely happened. There were a fewplaces that were catering to the kids and
the adults. We had the wagonsready to go, We had all of
our own stuff pack. There wasin the end, probably twenty six of
us that went trick or treating. You guys, we're a mom. Yeah,
yeah, we come in hot inthe friend group. Well today,
though, as we've been saying, you're about to get all Christmas out.

(02:43):
So if you are somebody who's justready to flip that switch with us and
get into holiday mode, well itstarts for us with a whole lot of
presents. Many we have so manythings to give away today. Something I'm
really excited about Lindsay Sterling is goingto be making a visit. Everybody loves
her. She's becoming one of ournew Christmas faves. And I've had message
is asking, and yes we dohave our hands on Trans Siberian Orchestra tickets.

(03:05):
So you want your chance, getup, get ready to go,
keep us on at work all daylong. Seven o'clock we become West Michigan's
official Christmas station on Star one ohfive point seven, West Michigan's Christmas station
yet again. Right now we arejoining the studio. Let's see here,
Schmidte, I got you on andup over there. You're in a different
spot, you hear me. Now, Yeah, I think we're good.

(03:27):
Yes, I think we're wonderful aswe get ready to make that flip switch
once again and get you into thatholiday spirit. We have got TV magic
happening in the studio right now.As a matter of fact, Reddy,

I mean, it definitely looks likeChristmas outside, so we definitely are ready
to make that switch. Well, the snow. This might be the only
white Christmas we get if you thinkabout it, like, we've got Emily
Leonard in here too. Aren't youhappy at least when you hear this Christmas

(04:15):
music? Come on, you've gotthe snow on the ground to just give
you those holiday vibes. Emily,Yes, I love it, and there's
no reason to delay anymore. Thesnow is here. I mean, let's
bring in the holiday season. Iwas gonna say, as you stated in
there, you had a wonderful linewhen I was watching you just on the
TV a little bit. What wasit from Jack Lanyards to Jammie Jacqueliner favorite.

(04:35):
I want that on a T shirt. Girlfriend, Start an Etsy shop
and I will buy you out.But we have an entire day of of
course merriment going on, because that'show we kick off Christmas. We've also
got Santa Claus, who's going tobe making an appearance here in just a
few minutes. As we gear upto make this flip, Santa, I
see you in the back and Iget a ho ho ho, just to

(04:55):
make sure you're ready. Shit rightthere. And of course with Santa comes
lots of presents too. Oh mygosh, I'm so excited that we are
going to have Lindsay Sterling tickets,Trans Siberian Orchestra tickets, Hip Hop nut
Cracker tickets. And that's just thetip of the iceberg. But in order
to make that happen, we havegot to go ahead and make this flip
happen too. And our friends fromwood TVA, Tom Hill and and Emily

(05:16):
Leonard together are going to be makingthis flip with Santa Claus are ready here
in the studio at Star one ohfive point seven to make that official switch
to the Christmas music season. Emilyso excited, you guys. This is
such an honor, such an honor, and the always the exciting thing Santa,

(05:40):
uh is we don't know what thesong is yet, Yes, we
don't. That's right, you don't. I'm holding that back right now.
That's all mine. Yes, ourradio friends do so. Uh have you
been working out? It's a it'sa big, big big Okay, well,
it's a big ready it's a bigI think we are. I know

(06:00):

there, Santa Santa. Let's counthim down in three two one estaminal five
point seven to West Michigan's Christmas Station. And it just feels right to say

(06:21):
that again, schmiddy, Oh mygosh. And I love today because we
get to invite so many of ourfavorite people. And we've got Tom Helen
from Wood TV once again this yearseasoned pro. We've got Emily Lenner from
Wood TV and her beautiful daughter joiningus, and then, of course the
Big Boy. Not Christmas until SantaClaus himself makes the trip south two Grand

(06:46):
Rapids to join us here in theCortwell Healths Christmas Studios. But guys,
it's also not Christmas without presents. You just heard Trans Siberian Orchestra. They
are coming to Van Andelerna on Decembertwenty sixth. Tom, you saw them
last year, you said, forthe very first time I went to Van
Andelerina and saw Trans Siberian Orchestra.I was blown away because it's not just

(07:09):
the music. They put on afull show, it's a whole experience.
So if you've never gone. Ihighly recommend it, and Tom's not only
just given that a full endorsement.I feel like you're you know, it
takes a lot to impress. Imean that's what I think of all you
t people. We are hard toimpress. Man, God, a lot
of shows, a lot of shows, Okay, I will say that.

(07:30):
So, yes, the bringing endorsementcomes with some some evidence of levity.
I don't like it. Well, guys, it's not Christmas without presents,
and we thought since you were allkind enough to come in and be our
official Christmas flippers this year, thatwe would return the favor by giving you

(07:50):
some of our first presence of theseason. So yeah, before we give
out these Trans Siberian Orchestra tickets toall of you that are listening right now,
I've got to give every one ofyou a little something. So here
we go. Oh boy, allright, First off, they're they're they're
great. Actually, did you thinka prank was coming your for Emily Leonard

(08:13):
and her wonderful daughter Evelyn. Thankyou guys for being here. Here is
some very Christmasy little goodies here. You're very welcome. So we've got some
solid hot coco there your minty, your minty candy canes. I mean,
oh cute Instagram pictures too. Iget the match. Yes, you are

(08:37):
very welcome. And let's see here, Tom, I didn't forget about you.
This one's for you because I knowhow much you love to bake.
Right, I look at you,and I say to myself, this man
cooks all the time. Use SantaClaus. I mean, I know that
you're the guy who's impossible to shinefor because you know, you got everything
and a whole army of people tomake stuff for you. That being said,

(09:00):
we didn't forget about you either. You need a little something stuff for
the sleigh ride home. I thinkI was gonna say, are you on
your mug? Is it a prettyrealist? I was gonna say, that's
that's the photo there, it's amug of his mug. I went with
a good one. But you knowwhat, uh, Tom, despite maybe

(09:20):
being on the naughty list, allright, my my vote is never.
But Tom, we actually also wantedto get you something else. So if
you were not aware, mister TomHill and our good friend who has joined
us now the past couple of yearsis got a new gigs mity. Yes,
we wanted to congratulate you officially forbeing one of the new hosts of

(09:41):
A West on What TV. Havebeen a lot of well, thank you,
it's been a lot of fun asI've made that move from the news
desk to the couch. I'll tellyou that couch is pretty comfort. So
congratulations. We're super excited for you. And so for that reason, we
thought no, not only would weget you some wine, but we thought,
well, this is the one forsure that won't be regifted, right,

(10:03):
like you're gonna have You're on TVevery day for extra hours. Now
you're gonna need this. Oh boy, I love wine. It's officially wine
season. Oh it has a littleSanta have on it. Thank you God.
It's all in the details. DareI say, kind of your mug
on a mug too? A littlebit a little bit. Yes, this

(10:24):
will not be regifted. Actually itmight not even make it today, fair
enough, But a less merry Christmasto each and every one of you guys.
Thanks diego. If you we haveour cameraman diego in there and you're
like, you know what, thecameraman never gets anything. This is true.
Lies. Here's a hot very excitedon the radio. It's my first

(10:48):
time ever speaking even on the news. I don't think I don't think I
told you you were allowed to geton the microphone. But that's okay.
You know what I'm running, I'mmaking it on the nodula. Thank you
guys so much for being here, truly, truly on oh five point seven,
good morning to you, and yes, very Christmas. We even have

(11:09):
the weather cooperating here, and wealso though have special guests. And that
song right there first off, DoctorSeuss is You're a mean one, mister
Grinch, also sung by the dudewith the toughest sounding name in all of
Christmas music, for sure, ThurleRavenscroft. I want that to be my
name. Just there's not enough thoroughsaid the world. I mean names come

(11:30):
back around and get trendy again.I'm surprised Thurle hasn't made a resurgence.
That being said, we're joining studioby Wood TV's Tom Hillan as well as
the big Man himself. Good morning, Santa Claus, good morning, how
is everybody? You're here? AndSanta dropped some knowledge on us just a
minute ago. That's right, SoThurle Ravenscroft again not only has a very

(11:52):
tough sounding name, Santa. Buttell us what you just dropped to us
this tidbit of information. I haveit on good authority from one of my
elves that he also was the voiceof Tony the Tiger in all the commercials.
All right. As soon as yousaid that, I could hear Tony
Sae immediately. So there's the WestMission connection that we needed. Yes,
And you know what, how issad for Thurle, who's like, people

(12:13):
only know me from doctor SEUs wasI was a part of all of your
childhood? Yeah, he was likevery secretive about the Tony thing. That's
great. Wow. I mean Iwould have never guessed that we had that
connection right in there. Now Iwill never be able to get that out
of my head. I'm gonna useit as my own personal piece of trivia.
So I'm amazed and astonished. Myfriends were like, he knows a
lot about christ. So we're goingto bring this up at least a million

(12:35):
times more in the next two months, you guys, because we have done
it. We are your official Christmasstation, And of course we hope that
our tradition is also a part ofyour family's tradition. That these songs and
these stories that we share with youthroughout the season, bring back those amazing
memories that you have as a kidand growing up with your family and now
with your own kids hopefully too,and getting to make some of that holiday

(12:56):
magic. So I wanted to askyou, guys, Tom and Santa.
We got you in here. Tom, I'll start with you, what is
the thing that really besides the music? Because I know that that's your number
one the music. You're in ourstudio, so that you better, that
better be your answer. But beyondthe music, what is that thing that
happens for you in your world thatmakes it click, that makes it say,
oh, the holidays are here.I would have to say, the

(13:20):
decorations. Once those lights go up, we are so fortunate. I was
just over in Italy and I raninto a woman from the UK and she
goes, you, guys, doChristmas right in the United States? Really?
And I pulled up a picture ofRosa Park Circle and our Christmas tree
in downtown Grand Rapids, and shesaid, That's what I'm talking about.
So we are so fortunate here. Our city decorates beautifully. So once those

(13:45):
decorations go up, it's really Christmastime for me. I love that answer.
Now it's tougher here for the bigguy. First off, I do
just want to say, we areso happy that you're here. Oh my
god, Santa here, I knowhim. I know him. That's right,
played a little elf there, wedo. You know him for sure.

(14:09):
But Sanna getting you into the holidayspirit is like a reminder like,
oh, I gotta go back towork this month, Like what is it
for you that makes that switch comeover, that gets you so jolly and
ready for the holidays. I'd probablysay the decorations too, like Tom mentioned,
but I get to see decorations allaround the world. Oh, do

(14:30):
have great Christmas? Okay, santamI ask are you the decorator, the
prime decorator at home in the NorthPole or do we leave some of that
to the interior designer of missus Clausmissus claws. That's a good man rule,
smart man right there for sure. Not to mention you got a whole
army of elves. I think,Oh, gotta keep it under ten thousand.

(14:56):
How do you pick a favorite?Like, that's what I want to
know, which one's the favorite inthat? I can't pick? That's right,
I wouldn't. They're tiny, Butyou don't want to see him fight,
that's for sure, very finicky point. See having good morning and merry
Christmas. Oh yes, we areonce again West Michigan's Christmas Station. It's

(15:16):
Mac and Schmidtian joined by a coupleof our special guests. We have gotten
Tom Helen from Wood TV and goodmorning Tom, good morning, happy to
be here, and the star ofthe show, the King of Christmas,
mister Santa Claus is South Santa.Thank you for making the trip South Forest.
I'm sorry that the weather did notprovide you that respite from the cold

(15:37):
that you were looking for. Thatbeing said, we've got some holiday vibes
in the air and in the studio, and right now we are going to
have an opportunity to see which oneof you is actually paying attention during the
holidays. I've heard a lot oftalk, a little smack talk back and
forth between me and Tom Helen, between you and Tom Helen. I would
like to say she did refer tome as the hollyist, jolliest elf around

(16:00):
you, and I'll just say thatit would be unfair for me to play
because I, in fact am actuallythe master of all Christmas. I'll just
step aside and let you two amateursgo at it, but with none other
than your host, Santa Claus beingthe one who's going to ask you these
questions. As you know, heis the inspiration behind many of them.
Here, guys, so trust youSanta Way we're doing this. It is

(16:23):
best of five, which means thefirst one of you to get three correct
answers is going to be our winner. And if you get the question wrong,
the other person will have an opportunityto steal your points. Okay,
I used to do that to mylittle brother's gifts. One of you is
why you were on the yes exactly. One of you will be getting everything

(16:45):
you want for Christmas. One ofyou will be getting nothing but coal.
It all comes down to this answer. Normally I would say ladies first,
but I know Schmiddy would say,we've got a guest in the studio.
We'll let Tom go ahead and andgo over with this. Santa hit him
with that first question, which popularChristmas beverage is also called milk punch eggnog

(17:10):
correct mostly if anyone refers to itas anything other than milk plunge milk punch.
Now, I'm I will be oldfashioned milk punch, So was easy.
That was easy. Tom on theboard with one point. Let's see
what you got. This is atest of your Christmas movie knowledge. How
many ghosts show up in a ChristmasCarol? That's movie or ghosts? Okay?

(17:33):
Is this a trick question? CauseI want to say three, but
technically there's five, right, becauseyou get the Marley brothers and then you
get past president future Oh in yours, there's two Marley's some of them.
There's only one. Isn't it justJacob Marley? I have no idea I
was. I'm going with Muppet ChristmasCarol rules Santai. Both Marley brothers were

(17:55):
in the Muppet Christmas Carol. Ihave to go by what's on the sheet
we're keeping it? Or was theanswer while we said it out loud to
Tom, you don't even get achance. I would have only gone with
three anyway, So I was notgetting that one. Correctives points for pulling
up Yes, Classic Elvis isn't goingto have a white Christmas, He's going

(18:17):
to have a blue correct already?Who won last year? By the yes,
it was that we played music trivialast year and you schooled me and
I didn't think you would, becausewell you are the DJ, so you
know, I will say to Sofar Schmiddy's question has been a lot.

(18:37):
Yes, yeah, that one wasway more challenging. Not gonna, not
gonna lie. I'm just reading himin or in Home Alone. Where are
the mccallister's going on vacation when theyleave Kevin behind? Oh, they're going
to Florida. I cannot believe youjust got that wrong. Oh they're going
to I'm thinking Home Alone too. They go to Paris all alone. Two.

(19:04):
It's like all time favorite movie. All right, all right, okay,
so real quick, we can't letthis die. Shmitt, He's gotta
at least get one right. ChristmasCarol was I think a lot of parents
listening right now, I would agreewith that. In the classic Christmas movie
How the Grinch Stole Christmas, theGrinch was described with three words, what

(19:30):
are they? Oh, I'm onlythinking the song and that's I don't know.
Stink stink stunk. That's what Iwas. That's where I was going
to. There's a lot of redemption. All right, welcome the Christmas King.
The next year, Well, we'llhave another rematch rematch next year.

(19:56):
Well, good morning to Marry Christmas. Hi, who's this, Janey?
Say hi to Santa Claus. Hi, Panta? Hello there, how are
you? I'm good? How areyou? Hi'm excellent. He's doing fantastic
and he also knows all of thebad things you've done this year, Janny.
But Santa is willing to forgive solong as you know a little bit

(20:17):
of your Christmas trivia, You've gota chance to get to Hip Hop Nutcracker
Santa one more time. What wasthat question? What's the name of the
main villain in the Nightmare Before Christmas? I believe it is Bosky Boogie Yay.
Congratulation. Yeah, we would. You know a lot of people were

(20:38):
about to say Boogie the Boogeyman, but you actually got the full technical name.
That is well done, a greatjob, and it also means you're
gonna go check out Hip Hop Nutcrackerwith four tickets to see the show.
That is fantastic. Thank you somuch. You are very welcome. And
as we're doing with everyone today,is there a Christmas song you'd like to
hear? Jannie? Honest, WhiteChristmas. I mean it is kind of

(21:02):
fitting for today, right, MerryChristmas? Janey, Thank you and man,
I always say it every year itlooks like a Bronner's bomb went off
in our studio because the decorations,I gotta say, are pretty on point
this year. Oh Garland everywhere.Guys, it's like dog hair, isn't
It gets all over yat And Igotta tell you some of you not needing
to do any decorating at all. That was record breaking snow in Miskegan yesterday.

(21:27):
That eight point eight inches, accordingto storm teammate, the most on
records. So it's like your snowmenare already. You're come to go.
Yeah, No need to be dustingthe windowsills with any of that fake snow
this morning, that is for sure. And that kind of gets me into
where I want to talk about Schmidty, because the decorating does flip the switch
for some people so to speak.I mean, obviously the music puts you

(21:48):
in the vibe, but for somepeople they need to see those Christmas decorations
come out. And you, yourselfare very early Halloween decorators. It in
September. You're going in September. When does the Christmas come into play for
you? It actually might be ina couple weeks. I gotta tell you,
I love this. Chris's family upin the up owns a Christmas tree
farm. So our biggest tradition iswhen we go at Thanksgiving, that's when

(22:11):
we get our tree. And Ilove to have the rest of the house
already done by the time we putthe tree up. I mean, and
going to get the tree at yourown Christmas tree farm, just like Chris
cut it down like a lumberjack. Is you want to take like ATV's out
there and it's my kids are justlike this is all ours. I'm like,
yes, Anna and Elsa. Everythingthe light touches that is awesome.
And you know, the tree gettingthat smell when you walk in the house,

(22:33):
that definitely is a trigger, Ithink for a lot of people.
But I look at my neighbors. They just turned on the lights last night,
like immediately. We say earlier thatthey left up the ones that they
were professionally installed from last year. But they hurt them on already. That's
all I'm saying. They're ready forthose holiday vibes. Shmitti. And not
everybody is Kim from Genison, thoughyou are one of our people. Though,

(22:56):
what do you how long did youleave your Christmas tree up. I
keep my tree up pull Valentine,So I guess that's a little controversial,
but I don't know this year immediatefor Saint Patrick's Day, you need to
talk to Allie Mack down the hall. I'm being ninety three. She put
her Christmas tree up in October andjust put some spiders and orange garland on
it and thought that's gonna work. And then I'll take it all off and

(23:18):
be ready November first. Not abad idea, and maybe time to bust
out those Christmas decorations because we areputting you in that holiday mood with all
of these songs and of course allof these presents too. Be listening as
we continue that this morning. Butyou know what, with this Snowschmitty has
brought with it a whole lots oftraffic issues. What's going on? On?
As an MVP, I'm gonna tryand make this guys stop talking.

(23:41):
We'll remember it as an MVP.S bro Wow, he doesn't want to
there we go, Okay, Macand Schmidty in the morning weekday, starting
at six am on Star one ohfive point seven
