Speaker 1 (00:03):
Wakem It gets my day going and makes me.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Lab I of it.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
Mac and Schmidty in the morning on Star one O
five point seven, Well, good mornings, Ready, good morning, Welcome
in to your Tuesday. And it starts out wet for
most areas around West Michigan is we're seeing rain showers
coming down today. I'm gonna go through this afternoon in
a lot of areas and balling see hins in the
mid sixties. The cool down is a Finnish.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Yeah, it's really really wet.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
Actually I could barely see on my way in, So
just be super aware of that. But depending on when
you've got to leave.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Did you get a bit last night? Did you get
your storms rolling through runs? Yeah, big time. As it
was coming through this morning. I let my dog out,
you know, at like four something in the morning's ready
to go to the bathroom. She's still a puppy, and
she didn't want to go out in the rain earlier.
So she's standing there not wanting to go out of
the rain, and so finally I have to walk out

(00:57):
in the rain to coax her to come out there.
She runs out to the grass real quick. It does
her business, and then she's coming to it. She's trying
to come in and I want to wash her pause
as she comes back in, we'll do it, runs directly
back into the bedroom and jumps on our white comforter
while my wife is in bed. It's gonna be a
rough morninge.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
I knit that you've got a white comforter.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
Smart.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
I'm just bug we missed the super Harvest moon with
all this rain. Guys, can I give a big shout
out to Rick Weist if maybe you're familiar with him
in the community. He's got some incredible pictures from the
lake shore last night. I'm just seeing everybody post all
across the country like this just crazy moon, and that's like, well,
that's cool. The one time we finally got some rain
ruin that but can't complain.

Speaker 5 (01:36):
In Michigan movies, music and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
Well, the wild story out of Indianapolis concerning former NFL
star and now Fox commentator Mark Sanchez continues with his
family breaking its silence for the first time since the
stabbing incident Saturday morning. If you missed the Mark allegedly
attacked a delivery driver who then in self defense, stabbed

(02:05):
him multiple times. He's been receiving medical care, was cleared
from the hospital on Sunday, and has now been charged.
According to his family in a statement, this has been
deeply distressing for everyone involved. Mark and our family are
incredibly grateful for the concern, love, and support that we
have received over the past few days that came from
Mark's brother Nick. They say he remains under medical care

(02:27):
for the serious injuries he sustained and is focused on
his recovery as the legal process continues. We like to
extend our heartfelt thanks to first responders and medical staff.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Meanwhile, the alleged.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Victim, delivery driver Perry Toll, has now launched a major lawsuit,
and not just against Mark Sanchez, but also Fox Sports.
The docs filed yesterday. He's suing Sanchez for assault and batteries,
suing Fox for negligent hiring, retention, and supervision. Tolls that
Sanchez appeared very intoxicated, instigated the entire altercation, and claims

(03:05):
he suffered severe permanent disfigurement, loss of function, physical injuries,
emotional distress, and other damages. This could be very very
interesting to watch because we are still waiting to hear
from Fox about what they are going to do with Mark.
He was actually supposed to call that Colts game on
Sunday and obviously did not.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
H Where did this incident take place? Smidy? The only
reason I'm asking is because I was curious is whether
or not Mark Sanchez was working for Fox right it
was there, because that, to me, James is everything in
terms of Fox having any real So it.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
Was in Indianapolis and he was there for work. Yes,
I don't know if it's like, Hey, this was at
two o'clock in the morning, so that's on your own time.
I'm not sure that is exactly what I think everyone
is going to be watching here, and Fox has stayed
very very quiet about what they planned to do. Sean
Diddy Combs is headed for the top to get out
of jail. It was confirmed yesterday. He has already asked

(04:02):
President Trump for a presidential pardon. So the President was
talking to reporters at the White House when he was
asked first about Glaine Maxwell the Supreme Court officially turning
down her request to hear an appeal. When the subject
of Diddy came up.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
I have a lot of people have Askedy for pardon.
So I call him puff Daddy.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
His asp for a pardon.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
Now, whether that will actually happen, we'll see. According to
the President, he is not saying yes or no. He
is going to be speaking more with the DOJ to
assess the situation.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
I love that he's just called him puff Daddy. I
call call him puff Daddy.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
Finally, what an interesting reunion yesterday Jennifer Lopez and Ben
affleck on the same red carpet together and looking very
very friendly.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
So this was the big premiere for her new movie.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
Kiss of the Spider Woman, and Ben happens to be
the executive producer on it. They actually worked on this
while the divorce was ongoing, and you can tell, well
she doesn't really love answering a bunch of questions about it.
She got a little awkward with Craig Melvin on The
Today Show yesterday.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
In the middle of this filming this elaborate, beautiful musical,
your divorce is also finalized with Ben. There you go,
well then why.

Speaker 6 (05:16):
But then I read that your ex as an executive
producer on the show.

Speaker 7 (05:21):
If it wasn't for then the movie wouldn't have got made.
And I will always give him that credit. Yeah, and
you know, things happen. You have to keep going. But
it's funny. The movie is about escapism. It's about how
movies and art save us in the hardest times of
our lives. And doing this project was such a dream
come true for me that it really got me through

(05:44):
to kind of survive a moment that was difficult in
my personal life as well.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
She said, then I don't want to talk about it anymore.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
It's funny because you know she didn't want to talk
about it, but she's out there early the other day.
We're in a benefit necklace I saw, so, I mean,
people are going to say some stufs.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
All right, all of your celebscoop at West Michigan start out.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Let's do it stone a five point seven, feeling good
to start the day out, a little bit of positivity.
And it was less than three weeks ago that our
West Michigan white Caps secured one of the best seasons
in franchise history, their seventh Midwest League Championship.

Speaker 8 (06:16):
Storybout season with a heavy ending, the West Michigan white
Caps are two thousand, twenty five Midwest League champions.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
I mean we won the first half of the season
we won the second half of the season, we won
in the playoffs, we had the MVP, we had several
All Star players, and now will another accolade has rolled
in as the West Michigan white Caps have just been
recognized as the twenty twenty five Minor League Baseball Organization
of the Year. Now this is a major deal for

(06:47):
this minor league club because it is been Minor League
Baseball's highest organizational honor only goes to, of course, one
team annually that demonstrates outstanding performance in all areas of
the operation, business success, community impact an overall fan experience.
The white Caps getting this award is a high a
franchise is nuts because they have to compete against much

(07:07):
larger Double A and Triple A clubs, but that just
proves how West Michigan remains a premier sports market and
continues to grow. Joe Chamberlain, the CEO and managing partner
of the white Caps, said, this award is a recognition
of everything that makes the West Michigan white Caps so special.
Our fans, staff, players, partners, and especially our West Michigan
community who have supported us so well. The club averaging

(07:32):
its highest attendance in the last twenty five years.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Yeahat to go.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Shout out to those players, but shout out to my
great friend Jim Jireki man oh Man. Is he running
an incredible organization over there and comes up with such
good ideas. All right, it is officially the spooky season,
So leave it to some fun neighbors to start their
own Halloween decorps war. Never a dull moment for Kendall
Allen and her family. They live in the Dallas Sport

(07:57):
Worth area and spotted their neighbors big home depost skeleton
the first weekend of September. I knew they just had
to join in on the fun. The back and forth
has gone viral on TikTok with their videos amassing millions
of views.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
So the people behind us about their twelve foot skeleton,
so of course we had to put out ours and
add a little sign that said, is that all you've got?

Speaker 2 (08:23):
So we were hoping to see they would retaliate.

Speaker 9 (08:25):
So this has turned into.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
A furlong far update on the skeleton wars. They came
back with a comeback that says, those are some rattling words.
I called some bony bros for help and they put
out some little skeletons around the yard, so our turns next.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
They have people sending them decorthy of people writing in
the comments about signs they can put across their lawn.
It has turned into a yard full of graveyard goodness.
You can see him West Michigan Star dot com.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
This is the season, after all. I love that feeling
good Kevin aty a couple times today. I always want
to share those great things going on out there. Let's
do it again. Coming up at nine swaded this morning.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
Movies, music and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
So Taylor Swift on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon
last night talking about all kinds of different things even
beyond her new album, and a lot of fans wanted
to know what went down at Selena Gomez's wedding. We
knew Taylor was a guest and found out that she'd
actually given a speech at the reception, and in true
Taylor fashion, this is really funny sounding.

Speaker 5 (09:37):
I did do some some light teasing about the way
that we used to dress in two thousand and eight,
the year that we met, Because we met when we
were teenagers in two thousand and eight.

Speaker 10 (09:45):
It was quite a year.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
Let me tell you. It was the year of deep, deep.

Speaker 10 (09:49):
Vnex it I just going it did just go into
like da olden age did.

Speaker 5 (09:56):
It was the year of aggressively colorful skinnery. Everyone was
walking around saying things were amaze balls.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
Missus Astro hated it.

Speaker 5 (10:09):
So basically Selena used to like her favorite outfit back
then was like a very long tank top, skinny jeans,
but like a tiny little vest, like a time the
smallest vest and Chucks and that was her like uniform
of that year, and mine was that I just always
looked like I was like late for the cowboy themed

(10:31):
junior prom.

Speaker 4 (10:33):
Super funny and honestly took us all back because if
you did not dress in skinny jeans with a layered
tunic and a tiny vest, you did not go to
college with any of my friends.

Speaker 9 (10:44):
So great, I.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
Bet you the style choices are better than Betty Blanco's
for that same time, just a feeling.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
Jack Osbourne is still very emotional over the loss of
his dad, the late great rocker Ozzie, and he joined
Good Morning America to talk about how the family has
been doing since the loss, admitting it was really hitting
them At that final show, I.

Speaker 9 (11:07):
Was in the crowd with I was with my brother,
and we both were just crying. Not because of it
wasn't because of feeling sorry for him. It wasn't because
we was sad for him. I think it was because
we knew it was the lost time. In hindsight, it
kind of was a living wake if you think about it.

(11:27):
He got to say goodbye to everyone.

Speaker 11 (11:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (11:29):
When asked about his mom Sharon, he goes, I like
to say she's okay, but she's not okay, he said
over and over again. Though I've got to tell you,
the fans have been propping us up. She reads absolutely everything.
It has been really the only kind of guiding light
for us to this really hard time of loss.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
I mean impossible to ever lose a parent. The way
that Ozzie went out was pure rock and roll and
was doing absolutely what he loved.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
All Right, everybody's talking about it. What is Lebron James
going to say today? By now, we've probably seen the
video we posted to X yesterday, simply writing the decision
of all decisions October seventh, twelve pm Eastern and then
hashtags it the second decision.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
A lot of fans believe he's.

Speaker 4 (12:14):
Making reference to his famous first decision when he announced
he was leaving his hometown of Cleveland to join the
Miami Heat. And a lot of other people think this
is it, This is going to be the retirement announcement.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Not so fast.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
An NBA insider Brett Siegel, has a different idea. He
points out Lebron just signed a multi year deal with
Amazon's podcast network. For those wondering, Lebron has a big
deal with Amazon Prime Day starts today. Not a coincidence.
Yelps is just going to be a podcast announcement.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
It even felt a little promotionally in how you can Yeah.

Speaker 4 (12:53):
We'll see all of your Celebscooba West, Michigan Star dot Com.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
Good morning, it's you. It's Mick and Schmidti and you
just brought up a very touchy subject. I feel like
kids at weddings and where does the stranger come into it?

Speaker 2 (13:04):
Well, the what is the wedding protocol?

Speaker 7 (13:05):
Here?

Speaker 4 (13:06):
A lot of this is hitting our family because we
have a big family wedding coming up in four weeks.
My youngest brother gets married, and I came across this
article in People magazine actually they were talking about this woman.
Her name is Sandra Weir, and she lives in New
York and she baby sits on the side for some
side hustle money. And she's talking about how she was

(13:26):
hired to help a family that was attending a wedding
last year, and throughout the entire event she's watching their kids.
People kept coming up with her, coming up to her like,
oh my gosh, do you do this all the time?
Is this something that we can hire you for? Is
it just weddings? So she has now launched a business
in New York City where this is all she does.

(13:46):
She has hired out to watch kids for specific different
kinds of events. She calls herself wedding nanny and yc.
She has been able to quit her job. She has
been able to move into like a gorgeous flat in
New York.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
Which is impossible, yet it's.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Completely changed her life.

Speaker 4 (14:04):
She goes, I make unbelievable amounts of money and the
biggest by far seller for my business weddings. I will
go to weddings. I will stay in the hotel room
with kids. I will take them out to do things.
Also the parents can go and have a really good time,
and so I'm like, well, that's kind of brilliant because
we offered to do that for our wedding. We were
eat kid free wedding. I was like, sorry, I get it.

(14:25):
Not a lot of our friends have kids yet, so
it's not really an issue. But if you are coming
with kids, I have three cousins that we are going
to pay. We have booked three hotel rooms, all of
which you are conjoining. We have video games, We're gonna order pizza.
You're right downstairs if you need anything.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
Yeah, we'll do this.

Speaker 4 (14:42):
And I was stunned at the blowback. We had people
not come, not come, and I was like, it's free,
You're literally We even made sure of the rooms were
right down the hall from the reception room. And it's
a very touchy thing. But I'm curious if you would
trust your kid kids with a stranger. She's CPR certified.

(15:02):
She said, you should see. I've got two pages of
a resume, all of these huge, huge references from very
very high on clients.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Would you do it?

Speaker 4 (15:12):
Because people get so ticked if they can't bring their
kids to something they think they have the right to
bring their kids to.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
I think it always feels weird when you're talking about
family when family is not allowed to bring their kids.
Just because I have so many cousins, we got an
army of, you know, of babies between all the cousins. Like,
that's when it feels weird to me. Telling people that
you're not related to they can't bring their kids. I
feel like that's kind of par for the course and
totally okay for a bride and groom to do. But
I would try this. I think it sounds like a

(15:42):
great genius idea for her, especially in New York City
where you've got to figure people are going to be
coming from out of town and don't necessarily know babysitters
in the area.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Also, so that was the biggest complaint.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
People said, you expect me to come from out of
town and trust someone I've never met with my kids
in a city I'm not familiar with. This is absolutely
I would never show up to a wedding that's even
tried to hire someone to do this.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
See it's twenty twenty five. I just look at the
Google reviews, like.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
She's got alles.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
I'm just saying on there, if she's got like all
of her background check stuff, look at all these different
references for people for this very specific thing that you're
hiring a person for. I think it's great. I don't
think it's that different than a lot of services that
we're asking people to do these days that think it's convenience.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
Would you tell your family?

Speaker 3 (16:27):
Then hey, they tell my family, I've got this nanny?
Maybe what a load of killing with it?

Speaker 4 (16:32):
Because that's what I did, And I couldn't believe how
many people thought I was a horrific person for it.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
You know, I do miss not seeing kids on the
dance floor whenever was somebody baddd?

Speaker 4 (16:42):
Yes, then you saw the seventy dollars chicken tenders you
bought six one six, four five eight one oh five
seven A wedding nanny.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
This woman has now.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
Created this entire job for herself. She says, it's wickedly successful.
Parents love this, but there's always going to be that
person that goes, what leave my kids with someone? I
don't know? Have you ever faced a decision like this?
Give us a call wedding protocol. Are you trusting your
kids with a stranger because you were told this is
a kid free wedding? Sorry, figure something out.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
It's that person that comes up to the bride and
it's like, you know, Bobby doesn't really like anything on
the buffet. Do you guys have any mac and cheese anywhere?

Speaker 2 (17:19):
For it happens, It happens, so insult me.

Speaker 3 (17:24):
Well, yes she is, and she just mentioned that she
saw something that took the wind right out of her sails,
the most depressing thing ever.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
So hopefully my fall feeling winds.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
Yeah, climate change is ruining leaf peeping season. What oh
my gosh, you guys, I saw the doom scrolling my
Instagram yesterday. It said in a new study, they have
found that what you love about fall for me, which
is obviously the fall colors, won't be happening for very
much longer. But unfortunately, because of the warmer weather and

(17:56):
the fact that summer seems to be stretching so much
more into fall, and then with some storms still like
broken up, the leaves are just gone.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
They just fall off and not turn color any color.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
This happened last year. This happened last year.

Speaker 4 (18:10):
They like we had everything was still like kind of
greenish and maybe starting to turn. We had a huge
thunderstorm come in. Everything was gone overnight. We saw no
colors here, and I thought, that is the saddest your
age I have ever heard.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
You are right, you did just give me something super depressing.
I'm honestly like now I want to just go out
and light a candle and eat something pumpkin spice because
you're ruined, fall fit.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
They won't be able to see anything in the woods
that looks false like she.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
Be so salky, movies, music and all the gossip in
one place.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
It's the celebrity scoop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 4 (18:51):
Well more from Taylor Swift's visit to the Tonight Show
with Jimmy Fallon last night, she obviously talked about the album,
talked a bit about going to Selena Gomez his wedding,
and then of course had to answer some questions about
her own engagement to Travis Kelsey and the rumor was
she forgot to tell her friend Ed Sheeran, And it

(19:12):
turns out that's one hundred percent true. But it's not
Taylor's fault. Oh no, have a perfect explanation.

Speaker 5 (19:20):
He doesn't have a phone. He doesn't have a phone.
This is like one thing I love about him. It's
very eccentric.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
Love it.

Speaker 5 (19:29):
But when I'm going through being like hey, like, you know, hey,
people who should be FaceTime. I'm going through my texts
and being like, who have I texted within the last
like months of my life? And he just wasn't there
because you have to like email him and then you
want to set a FaceTime and he has to find

(19:50):
an iPad and they have to give it to him
like he's a child that give the iPad too.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
Yes, this is one of my.

Speaker 5 (19:57):
Absolute favorite people on the planet. And the news came out,
I was like, oh my god, we forgot to call ed.

Speaker 4 (20:06):
Yeah that Sharon learned about Taylor's engagement on Instagram like
the rest of us. But pretty funny because it's true.
He doesn't She wouldn't have spoken with him, she wouldn't
have like social messages because he does not do any
of those things. He's got a dumb phone.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
And that's it. I was gonna say, he probably didn't
even see it on Instagram for several days after.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
Yeah, friend probably told him.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
Oh, Taylor hit us up all right.

Speaker 4 (20:29):
Speaking of Travis, Kelsey, being the all supportive fiance, decided
to bail on partying with his bros for his thirty
sixth birthday and spent it at a theater for the
official release party of a Show Girl that came out yesterday.
The NFL star had his mom, Donna, along with his
aunt and uncle went to one of those theaters showing

(20:50):
the special release and fans thought that was very, very sweet.
Speaking of Travis, Taylor is denying rumors from her fans
that all of her music will end as soon as
she marries Travis.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
She joined BBC Radio two yesterday.

Speaker 10 (21:07):
That's going to be Lost album an shockingly offensive thing
to say.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
Absolutely, it is not.

Speaker 10 (21:14):
Not why people get married.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
No, exactly so that they can have a whole job.

Speaker 10 (21:18):
Right. It's also like music for me, is.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
I think the just panicking.

Speaker 10 (21:22):
Oh, I know, they love to panic sometimes, but it's
like I love the person that I am with because
he loves what I do and he loves how much
I am fulfilled by making art and making music.

Speaker 4 (21:35):
Yeah, she says he's her most favorite person in the
whole world. Finally, you'll see something different on Instagram. They
have decided to create their own awards ceremony. It's called
the Ring Awards. It's made to celebrate the creativity of
those active users on the platform.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
So here's the deal.

Speaker 4 (21:54):
There's more than three billion users on Instagram and they're
going to narrow this list to twenty five for these awards,
and they're going to get a physical ring, not money,
not money, a physical ring that's designed by some high
end English fashion designer. And then they're going to have
new content tools that their Instagram will be able to

(22:15):
take part in. This is a judges panel. It includes
the digital creator behind this. It includes the head Adam
Asaria of Instagram, and then Spike Lee, the director Rugby Star,
Ilona Mar, makeup artist Pat McGrath, designer Mark Jacobs, actress

(22:36):
Yara Shahiti, and then the artist cause.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
So they are going to be narrowing.

Speaker 4 (22:41):
This down to a top twenty five, send them all
these gorgeous rings, and I guess give them new ways
to spam us on Instagram.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
I was gonna say, like, who was asking for this?
Not another award show?

Speaker 2 (22:51):
I would I would follow whoever. Alona Mar said was fun.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
As long as I don't have to listen to any
acceptance speeches, I guess it's fine.

Speaker 4 (22:57):
Just leave me out of us, all right, all of
your celebscoop but west to Michigan Star dot com.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
It's black. It's ready let's do it. Battle of the
Sexist time, looking to get you over to Vanandel cheering
on our grand Rapids Griffin.

Speaker 4 (23:06):
Yes, Pauk hits the ice for our home opener. Next
Friday the seventeenth is the Manitoba Moose come to town.
It's going to be an incredible night. We've got a
four pack of tickets, so you are there with today's
Battle of the sexist question when one hundred women surveyed,
name something you buy in bulk because you know you're
going to lose some of them.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
I mean, this is not something I would necessarily qualify
as bulk that I often buy two pairs of cheap
sunglasses at a time because I know I'm losing one
of them.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
Chris By's wedding rings in pulk.

Speaker 3 (23:35):
He's smart.

Speaker 4 (23:36):
He's by the way, you guys, if anyone wants to
hit me up at Schmidt in the Mitt, they're on Amazon.
They're six ninety nine. They look super duper real, and
he has lost like five of them, and he's just
got a whole pack.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
I've lost any bathroom. Don't tell Michelle about this. I
haven't worn a wedding ring in years.

Speaker 4 (23:52):
All right, six one six four five eight, one oh
five seven callers seven. We are looking for the number
one answer. One hundred women surveyed names something you buy
in bulk because you know you'll lose some of them.
You have that number one answer. You are going to
our Grand Rapids Griffins home opener next Friday with Star
Win oh five point seven.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
Buck, Good morning, Star. Who's this Lydia, Lydia, Let's see
if we can get you over to our Griffins. Okay,
one hundred women, we're asked to name something you buy
in bulk because you know you're gonna lose a few
of them. What do you think? The top answer was socks?
You know, how old are you, Lydia?

Speaker 2 (24:29):
Eleven?

Speaker 3 (24:31):
So are you in fifth grade or sixth grade?

Speaker 2 (24:34):
Fifth grade?

Speaker 3 (24:36):
Fifth grade? All right, so, Lydia, just tell me one
thing right now. I want you to look down at
your feet. Do your socks match or not they do?
Well done? Well done, Lydia, well done, because that's the
top answer. Socks is the right one way to go. Yeah,
you guys are going to the home opener for our
Grand Rapids Griffins. You are so welcome to you, Good

(24:58):
morning to you. It's Mack and and I want to
talk about talking out loud to yourself because we all
do this. You feel like it could be pretty cathartic,
and it's really not a weird thing. You're not a
lunatic for talking to yourself.

Speaker 4 (25:12):
All these studies that find they're more intelligent, people that
talk to themselves are brighter.

Speaker 3 (25:16):
Well, I don't know if that applies to me, but
I will say I think the place mote people do
it most often is cars. And I love to catch
people talking to themselves in cars. I just find it
fascinating to try and engage whether or not they're talking
to somebody on the phone or whether they're having that
internal monologue come out loud in their vehicle, and just
try and listen see if I could read their lips.

(25:38):
I'm all about people watching.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Not where I talk to myself the most.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
That is not where I had a problem talking to myself,
because this is something that I think a lot of men,
a lot of women too, can relate with. Actually, everybody,
nobody wants to be talking to when they're in the bathroom.
Right when you are in the bathroom, using the bathroom,
that's not the time to talk to someone. And in
my house. That is always a frustrating thing for me
because everybody with kids they do it constantly. But my

(26:04):
wife knows this about me too. She doesn't like it
when I do it to her. But yesterday she comes
while I'm in the restroom, asking like three not important
questions at all about a trip that's still like a
month away, and I'm like, can we talk about this
when we get out? Whenever she walks away, then I
sit there and I go, why do you have to
sit here talk to me in the bathroom. I'm in

(26:25):
the bathroom. We say this all the time, and I'm
talking out loud to myself as I sit there, and
all of a sudden, I just hear on the wall goes,
I agree, dad.

Speaker 4 (26:39):
I love talking to myself in the bathroom. I talk
to myself in the bathroom at work. I can't tell
you how many times Ali has walked in over on
B ninety three and she's like, girl, I get it.
This is like the only place of peace and reflection.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
This is yes, this is your own community. Confession is
you're in there row.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
I'm busy singing in my car while I'm driving. I
talk to myself in the bathroom I'll go through to
do lists. I'll make sure I've got everything ready for
the kids in the morning. Chris hears me doing it
at like three fifteen a m.

Speaker 2 (27:05):
Before word.

Speaker 3 (27:06):
Do you go silent the second that somebody walks in?
Because I do that no matter what.

Speaker 4 (27:09):
In the bird, I've got really interesting stuff to say.
You should be listening to my bathroom Ted talk. Well,
we love a good Halloween setup, and for this family
in Saint Clair Shores, they've really gone above and beyond,
turning their front yard into a spooky Ford Field, complete
with tombstones marking every team the Lions have beaten so

(27:32):
far this season.

Speaker 2 (27:34):
Chad Lana is his name.

Speaker 4 (27:35):
He is the one behind the elaborate Lions themed Halloween display.
This is on Bond Bray Street. If you find yourself
over that way, get one simple goal to make others
smile jokingly.

Speaker 6 (27:45):
We just it's so expensive to go to a game now,
so we thought we'd just bring the game to the neighborhood.
All the negativity going on, I was like, let's just
do something fun and let's put it all together with
like Lions saying with mixture with Halloween, and that's that's
kind of what we came up.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
With, and man, they have thought of every detail. Telling seven.
You might notice the zombie Dan Campbell in the front
yard with his skeleton Yorky.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
Yeah, we tried to.

Speaker 6 (28:10):
You know, people that know it, they're going to know
the little details that we put in, and that's what
we were trying to go for.

Speaker 4 (28:15):
And the best part of this whole thing. Chad says
that it all really started with his fourteen year old
son his autism and has really fallen in love with sports,
something Chad didn't think that they ever necessarily would be
bonding over, and this display is everything.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
He's so emotional kid, but he loves the stuff.

Speaker 6 (28:32):
So that's why I just keep doing it.

Speaker 4 (28:33):
So you got to check it out. Saint Clair Shores.
If you find yourself on bomb Bray Street, that is
the home of the epic Spooky Ford Field.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
I won't be surprised at all when some of those
Lions players or Dan Campbell himself and the family show
up to go through there.

Speaker 4 (28:47):
I know my sister in law's right there, so I
think we might go over and check it out.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
Very cool night, ch Beddy. This is video that is everywhere.
You might see it on your social media because is
that sweet. It took place down in Murphysboro, a tennis
but an officer, Samuel Lopez of the police department there
saw a dog on the side of the road. Wasn't
sure whether it was astray somebody's missing dog, but when
he got out of his car, he definitely noticed that

(29:13):
the dog was scared and hurts, and the whole thing
captured on bodycam footage.

Speaker 11 (29:18):
Yil bunny, Kenny, Okay, Okay.

Speaker 3 (29:29):
Yeah, I don't know what kind of dog this is,
but it looks like a Rottwiler, spitty. It is a big,
scary looking dog and hear that growling right there. It
might make some people uncomfortable. The police officer might be
inclined to call animal control and go about your business,
but that is not what officer Lopez did. Instead, he
spent the next two hours comforting that animal. Ultimately wound

(29:50):
up if it hit some water, and as soon as
it calmed down a little bit, he bust out his
own lunch and sat there hand spoon feeding this injured
until someone from the nonprofit rescue group Pause arrived. He
then helped carry the dog with the blanket so it
could be taken with veterinary to veterinary care, the City

(30:11):
of Murphysboro Police sharing the bodycam footage and putting it
out there, and also sharing a quote from Lopez saying
dogs have filled that role in my life where I
feel as if they are children of my own. Regardless
of any animal being injured on the side of the road,
if there's hope, I'll stick by their side until they
get better. I'm very sweet, really cool. I'll make sure

(30:32):
the video gets up for you. Wes Michigan Star dot
com always here to share the great things happen out
there with you. We'll do it again tomorrow six forty
five and nine to twenty every weekday. I'd star Mack
and Schmidty in the morning weekday, starting at six am
on Star one oh five point seven
