Speaker 1 (00:00):
Star went out five point seven West Michigan's Christmas station
and welcome to the season.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
It is schminny for those of you.
Speaker 1 (00:07):
Just joining this morning because you had to wait till
after Thanksgiving to listen to Christmas music. I'm so glad
you're here, But i gotta say this might be a
hot take, but if you're a parent, I think you
will understand where I'm coming from. We got too many
holidays crammed into like a what nine to twelve week situation,
(00:30):
so over the weekend feel.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Very, very blessed.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
We hosted our first Thanksgiving at our home, so our
first time hosting. Had some family members from my husband's side,
had some family from my side.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
It was lovely, it really was.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
We did a bunch of cooking and of course the
cleaning and everything that comes with preparing for company. But
then we had Thanksgiving, which was just chaos in a
great way. But you know, especially if you have littles,
it can be really really like jarring.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
You know, the routine is off.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
You know you've got a couple days off of school,
bedtimes are pretty much nonexistent. And we went from having
a bunch of people in our house on Thursday and
them getting to stay up late. And then Friday we
had a couple of family members stay, so they were
really excited about that. Friday night we went to the
East Grand Rapids tree lighting, they stayed up late. Saturday
we went to a movie, and then more family came
(01:23):
in and he just feels like by Saturday night into yesterday,
especially my four year old daughter was near melt down load.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
I think it was just so stimulating, so much going on,
so out.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Of routine, and I was like, man, I feel like
this October, November, December. I call them the ber months.
If you're new to the show, that's what I call
the bur months. It's just so packed, and it's all
really good stuff, especially if you, you know, have the
privilege of close family or close friends. But can we
pump the brakes for a second and admit if there
(01:58):
was maybe one on holiday we could move maybe Thanksgiving
gets a little bit, can we give it some space?
And I was thinking about that over the weekend, and
then I came in this morning and I have a
talk back on our iHeartRadio app. If you've got our
free app, you see that red microphone in the top
right corner, and it just hit it perfectly.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
This is from Todd.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
I think Thanksgiving should be earlier in the years so
we can celebrate Christmas as soon as possible. I guess
nothing's stopping me from celebrating Christmas when I want, but
it just doesn't feel right until after Thanksgiving.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
So while he's coming at it from a listen, I
want more time to spend Christmas, I'm coming at it
from yes, let's put Thanksgiving in the middle of summer,
you know, or move it, move it to.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Like February March. What are we doing in February March.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
It's still dark, We're a little depressed, the seasonal effective
disorders taken over. Let's have some family fun then, instead
of trying to slam all of this into twelve weeks.
This is coming just from a very overstimulated, slightly stressed parent.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Like I said, it's.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
A hot taket, you know, love it or leave it,
take it, own it, or tell me I'm totally wrong.
Six one, six, four five eight, one oh five seven.
How did your holiday weekend go? Do you understand even
like a little bit of where I'm coming from, or
maybe it's just me give me a call, let me know.
Start one oh, five point seven West, Michigan's Christmas station.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Good morning, It's schmitty and welcome to it.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Coming off of a packed weekend, I'm sure with Thanksgiving
then a snow dump. Now it's officially December, and I'd
be lying if I said I wasn't a little overstimmed
and possibly a little stressed.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Good morning star. Who's this, thank Tracy? How did the
Thanksgiving holiday treat you?
Speaker 4 (03:39):
Oh? It's good, but like I agree with you, I'm
a pairent of three and I am completely exhausted and
totally not ready for Christmas. It's like, oh, do we
always have to cram this in the twelve weeks?
Speaker 2 (03:53):
So I totally agree with you.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
I mean it's like Thanksgiving falling late this year too.
We wrapped up and then I'm thinking, oh my gosh,
Monday is December first, And not to stress parents out,
but it's just kind of like, whoa, There's just so
much magic happening right now and I'm losing.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
A little bit of my mind. Yeah, totally, Good morning star.
Who's this?
Speaker 4 (04:10):
Hi? My name is Debbie.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Hi, Debbie, where are you calling from?
Speaker 4 (04:13):
Jennison?
Speaker 2 (04:14):
All right, Debbie, how did your Thanksgiving weekend?
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Go.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
Here's what I wanted to say to you. I wanted
to tell you that I remember those days, yeah, when
times were just crazy, and I raised my kids as
a single mom, and my mom would always be involved
with our Thanksgiving and our Christmas and everything. And now
I'm older, my kids are all grown up, they have
children of their own, families of their own, my mom
(04:37):
is in a nursing home. All I can tell you
is just enjoy every minutes with your family, because time
fly by fast.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Oh Debbie, Wow, what a beautiful perspective reminder.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
Thank you, You're welcome.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
I just wanted you to just be grateful for every
day that the Lord gives you.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Oh Debbie, we love you. Thank you, thanks so much
for calling in.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
And see, that's what we're going to go with, Debbie.
We needed that
