Speaker 1 (00:00):
Star one oh five point seven. We are West Michigan's
official Christmas station. Good morning, it's Schmitty. I love these lists,
especially when they're local. So Kent County released a look
at this year's most popular baby names. All right, so hey,
if you're expecting right now, here you go. Because as
someone who grew up with three other Laurens in her grade,

(00:23):
this was like fourteen years of my educational life. It
was always Lauren sm because my name is Laurence Smith
and there were so many Laurens we actually had to
be called by the first two letters of our last name.
So it's an important list to know. Cordney, Kent County.
More than ten five hundred little babes were born this
year and the big names, Oh man, this it kills me,

(00:47):
but it doesn't. The most popular girl name in Kent
County this year Sophia. But but it's a Sophia with
a pH. And I spelled my little lady's name with
an F. We went with the Polish way. That's right,
my fellow westsiders, Sofia with an F. So this is
a pH, but it is the number one girl's name
in Kent County. Charlotte takes second, followed by Emma those

(01:08):
are always on the list, Amelia at number four, and
Harper at number five. Looking at the boys, the number
one boy name in Ken County Henry Henry this year,
followed by James Theodore Oliver whatever. I love Oliver. I
don't care if it's the most popular name every year.
That's the cutest name. And then rounding out that top

(01:30):
five is Hudson. Hudson sounds like a CEO name. And
you know what, it's just my piece of advice. If
you don't have kids yet, just think of it this
way when you go to name them. I get it.
There's like sometimes family tradition or something that's very popular
at the moment. Some people go with a pop culture
kind of feel. But here's the test. One. How does

(01:52):
it sound when you yell it up or downstairs? That's
very important. Number two, what is it going to sound
like when they are trying to get a job in
their twenties? There you go, I've got the Lizwest Michigan
