The Pumkin Carving Mess

Well, Happy Halloween and Schmidty you want a blast this morning?

(00:03):
There are so many requests, by the way, I want
to thank all of you first and foremost on Facebook
and Instagram. I put this up earlier this morning asking
for what you want to hear. We've had so many
good ones, the thrillers, the Ghostbusters, but a request for
time warp I've got. This is Halloween from Nightmare before
Christmas coming up. You guys are doing fantastic, keep it coming.
I would like this whole day to be your playlist,

because you know what, it's the little things in life
and playing favorite songs is exactly that. I love Halloween.
It is absolutely one of my most favorite holidays, right
up there with Christmas for me and my kids love it.
And every year I always build up the magic, like
we're gonna do all the things. This is gonna be
so much fun, and last night we did it. My
least favorite part of Halloween, carving those dang pumpkins. I'm

gonna take a minute here because I'm trying to be
positive Polly. I don't like being a buzzkill, but does
anyone actually enjoy doing this outside of my smug husband who,
for some reason has this ridiculously seek talent of being
an expert pumpkin carver. Oh, we hauled out the pumpkins
last night, got some good ones. But like you have five,

you have five solid minutes. I've got a seven year
old and a four year old five solid minutes before
they realize they can't cut the lids off the pumpkins.
It's too hard. They really don't know what they want
to carve. When you draw out the design, they realize
they can't carve it. So then it's just me and
my husband sitting there while the kids are watching a
Halloween movie trying to scoop the guts out. Oh, the
guts were a whole thing. My son touched some guts

and screamed he didn't like the feel of that. And
by the end of it, you're sweating. I cut myself
in two different spots. My kitchen is full of those
little seeds. Every crevice imaginable has a pumpkin seed. And
then you just haul everybody out on the front porch
to take a picture with the kids. That did absolutely

We did not have a super fun time. I just
pumpkin carving. I always think it's going to be so
lovely to spend time together, and it is always exactly
what the inside of a pumpkin looks like. Total mess.
