Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning, Thank you for listening to Community Access. My
guest this morning is Sarah Frixel. She is president of
the Connecticut Automotive Retailers Association. Good morning, good.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Morning, thank you for having me.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
You have a great event that's coming up. It's the
Connecticut International Auto Show at Mohegan Sun November fifteenth and sixteenth,
and we're here to talk about all of the great details.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Thank you. Yes, we have the Connecticut International Auto Show
coming up again this year and it's an opportunity to
check out all new model vehicles. There's more than twenty
brands and you can look at the cars and a relax,
no pressure environment. It's a great time to come out
with family to Mohegan Sun and we look forward to
it every year.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
So we're going to talk about all the neat things
like talking to the experts, test driving the vehicles, so
guests can compare hybrids. That's one of the areas that
they can look at.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Yes, hybrids are especially hot right now, so we have
a showcase of hybrids along with electric vehicles that guests
can walk through. You can even get into the cars
and get a real feel for what it's like to
drive one of them.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
And talking about getting behind the wheel. They can go
to the Chevy area and do that.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Yes, there's a ride and drive available with a number
of Chevyes that will be on property.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
So that's a great place where you can check out
the EV showcase and see all the electrical vehicles as well.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Yep, Electric and hybrid will be together, and they'll be
electric vehicles throughout the manufacturer's displays.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Let's talk about some more of the displays. There's the
Luxury Vehicle display. What is that.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
They'll be exotic luxury vehicles and that is your Lotus, Ferrari, Chevy, Corvette,
and a number of other luxury vehicles that you don't
see often.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
See. No, I don't even know what a Lotus is,
so that says I need to go to this and
see it.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Yeah, the Lotus is one of the really cool cars
at that show.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Really, what makes it so cool you don't.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
See them very often, and they're sporty and and expensive
and imagine really fun to drive.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Awesome. There's also the four to one jeep wave.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Yes, there's tricked out jeeps. These are the off road
jeeps and you'll see all sorts of cool displays with
these Jeeps and we've had them the past few years
and they're always fun to check out.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Tell me what does tricked out mean?
Speaker 2 (02:20):
So they have all sorts of different colors, they're painted,
they have accessories. It's really something to.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Say, so cool for all ages, whether you're male or female,
whether you're kids, it's just the coolest event ever.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Yes, it's fun for the whole family. I bring my
kids every year. We look forward to it and it's
a great day to get out of the house and
see some really cool stuff.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
So we were just talking about what tricked out is.
There is a collection of privately owned tricked out exotics
the New England Supercar Club.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
Yep, they were here last year as well, and again
there's great exotic luxury vehicles that are privately owned and
are showcase for the event.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
So you just walk around and you're like, oh, like
just one thing after another, you're like wow, wow, wow, wow,
especially if you're a car enthusiast.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Yes, absolutely for car enthusiasts there is something for them
as well as anyone who is interested in checking out
new models and wants to see what a vehicles like
before they purchase.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
That's the best. That's amazing. Get to talk to them,
get to sit in it, get to look at it,
feel it all out. That's great because I mean that's
a big expense that you're going to have for years.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Yes. Absolutely, And we do have a wide range of
price points, so they are affordable vehicles from twenty five thousand,
and then of course there's the exotics and luxury that
are well over one hundred thousand dollars.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Wow. Why does the Connecticut Automotive Retailers Association put this
event on?
Speaker 2 (03:51):
So? The Connecticut Automotive Retailers Association represents Connecticut's two hundred
and fifty franchise new car dealerships, and this is really
an opportunity for us to showcase what the new car
dealers are selling across the state.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
So, speaking of car dealers, the Valenti Family Dealership is
going to be there also.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Yes, and they bring their classic car collection, which is
always a great display to check out.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Yeah, classic cars are so cool. It just brings you
right back to see them restored. You know, it's just
really really neat. People can enter to win a new
bike at this event.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Yes, you can enter to win a Mercedes Benz E
bike when you enter into the show. You'll see the
bike on display and put your name in and hopefully
you'll be a winner.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
So besides all of the cars, you actually are doing
something for charity as well. You have pets that will
be there.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Yes, Subaru Loves Pets brings in pets that are available
for adoption in Connecticut. They partner with a local animal
center and you can come in play with the puppies
and if you fall in love, you can go home
with one.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Wow, I love that again. Something for everyone, all ages.
