Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning, thank you for listening to Community Access. One
of my favorite guests is here today. Once a month,
I get to see the Connecticut Humane Societies adoptable Pet
of the Week and Christian Marshall. She has marketing and
Communications coordinator at the Connecticut Humane Society.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Good morning, Good morning Allison. How are you?

Speaker 1 (00:18):
I'm great? Thank you? How are you?

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Fantastic? So?

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Who do we have today?

Speaker 2 (00:23):
We have the adorable two month old kitten named Franco.
He has beautiful green eyes and dark gray fur.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Oh my gosh, he's only two months old. He's so cute, adorable.
He's the nicest baby too, Yes he is.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
He's very sweet.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
I mean I say this about every single one that
comes in. I wish I could adopt all of them.
But what is Franco's story? How did we find him
or how did he come to you?

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Oh? Right, So, Franco was found on the streets of
Hartford by a good samaritan who knew that the best
decision was to bring him into the Connecticut Humane Society.
He was looked over by our wonderful medical team and
he was given a clean bill of health, which means
he's ready to go home.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
I love that a good Samaritan carod enough to bring
a pet in. Isn't that so nice?

Speaker 2 (01:08):
It's so beautiful and heartwarming.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
I got to tell you this story too, by the way,
two weeks ago. I live on a lake, and when
I moved in in May, I had just one blue
heron on the lake. I named him Harry, and I
absolutely fell in love with him. And Harry was laying
in my yard with a broken lake, and you could
see it was clearly broken. It wasn't good. It was
a sunday. I called eight million wildlife rehabilitators. They all tried.

(01:33):
I called deep you name it, and nobody could do anything.
So it's just nature and it's just the way that
it is. But my good friend came over with me.
She had the gloves, she had the box, and I
just was like, wow, what a blessing. Thank you so
much for caring about every single living thing. And that's
how the Connecticut Humane Society is. I just love when

(01:54):
people are trying to be good Samaritans. Absolutely sorry, a big,
long story. How to share that with you? How would
Franco do? What kind of home should he be in?

Speaker 2 (02:03):
So Franco will be a perfect fit for an active
and growing family that he can grow alongside with. He
is very rambunctious, he loves to play with his toys,
and he'll do well in a home with another feline
or a cat savvy canine as well.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Okay, so a canine that can appreciate a cat, yes,
love that. You also have an event coming up called
the Paparazzi, right.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
So, this entire month of July, we have a Paparazzi
photo contest where you can enter your pet and the
proceeds from the contest directly support the pets of CHS.
And you can learn more about that at ct humane
dot org slash paw Parazzi, which is spelled paw pa
r a zzi.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
So are you looking for like unique photos or no,
maybe just something like that's a beautiful photo of their pet.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
A beautiful photo of your pet or a unique photo
of your pet fantastic.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
If someone would like to adopt a pet, what do
they need to do?

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Well, they can visit our website which is cthumane dot
org slash Adoptable Pets to see all of the adoptable
pets that are available at CHS.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
And there's a screening process.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Right So, when you come in to adopt a pet,
you'll meet with an adoption counselor and they will help
you find the perfect match for you.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Oh nice. So besides donations, which you absolutely need, my goodness,
you can't do the work that you do without it,
are you looking for sponsors or volunteers or any other items.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Right We're always looking for volunteers and volunteers can visit
our website at ct humane dot org slash volunteer to
learn more about our volunteer opportunities. As for the wish
list of the pets, we're always needing different items, so
you can learn more at ct humane dot org slash
wish list. And right now we're looking for new towels

(03:55):
for the pets, which are perfect for after bath time
and just to get all cod and dry.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
And can the volunteers do things like that like help
bathe the pets and you know, maybe just walk them.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Right, So, we have dog walkers, we have critter cuddlers.
We also have germ busters who come in and clean
the kennels. We also have foster families that love to
volunteer as well, and that's giving a pet a temporary
home with some love.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
I think I need to become one of those.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
You would love it.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
I know I would. Oh, this is so great. I'm
speaking with Christian Marshall. She is marketing and Communications coordinator
over at the Connecticut Humane Society. We're talking about Franco today,
this beautiful two month old kitten. He's so cute with
the gray fur and the green eyes. He's in Newington again.
Go to ctthumane dot org. Christian, thank you so much

(04:48):
for being here and for serving the community.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Thank you so much for having Franco and I here today.
