I heart communities. Thank you somuch for listening. We are here at
the Travelers Championship live in the fanZone. It's Birdie's for Charity where our
charities get to earn fifteen percent onevery dollar thanks to our friends at Webster
Bank who present Birdie's for Charity. Now we'll be here through end of play,
and that's how long you have todonate to our charities. Through end
of play, they have a chanceto earn fifteen percent on every dollar donate.

(00:22):
How cool is that. Go toTravelers Championship dot com. Click on
Birdie's for Charity, scroll through thearray of nonprofits find one that resonates with
you, and one of them isseated right next to me. I'm excited
to welcome Services for the Elder ofFarmington. They're executive director Tony Andreoli.
Thank you Tony for being here.Thank you so much. Renee, We're
so excited about this opportunity. Ohmy gosh, it's great to have you

(00:44):
here. And I love what youdo and I love how you help the
senior community of the Farmington area. But tell me exactly. You know who
you are, the areas you serve, what that encompasses and how you help?
All right, So our mission isbasically to connect volunteers with seniors or
others that need help that are homebound, So bringing services to somebody that

(01:10):
is homebound, but also making thatconnection with which is the most important part
to us, is that you know, a homebound client isn't feeling like they
are all alone, you know, isolated. I was just gonna say that
word isolation for our seniors seems tobe so much more. Well, I
guess maybe maybe it's always been whatit was, but the pandemic really shone

(01:32):
a light on it, and nowwe're just finding out how serious it is.
Yeah, that's exactly true. AndI think as you think about if
you can think about your grandparents oranyone elder in your life and when you
implement change, how hard that isas a as a forty year old,

(01:53):
a thirty year old, a teenager, right, but make yourself eighty or
ninety and implement change and coming backfor the pandemic has certainly been a challenge
for our seniors for sure. Howcan we help you? What do you
need most? I think right nowfor us, this is a great opportunity
for us to let people know thatwe're here. You know, we are

(02:14):
a small, very small. Ihear people say they're small, but we
have two staff members and one hundredand twenty volunteers. Wow. And then
we have over fifteen hundred clients,so, you know, getting the word
out, letting people know that it'snot just the people we serve, it's
the volunteers that we need. Obviouslyas a nonprofit, I have to say

(02:36):
it, we rely on donations.Well, and that's why you're here.
We're here to help you get thosedonations. Exactly why we're here right right
right? And how can people directlyfind you online or through social media too?
Yep? We have Facebook, wehave we have a LinkedIn and it's
Farmington Seniors dot org okay, orservices for the It usually is elder but

(03:00):
it's elderly and Farmington Seniors dot orgis our website and our social medias are
attached to that as well, SoFarmington Seniors dot org might be the best
place to send people right now.And also the link to Bertie's for Charity
is there as well, where peoplecan readily find that make their donation through
end of Place Sunday. Here weare on Wednesday through end of Place Sunday,

(03:21):
you an opportunity to donate and makea real impact in the lives of
a senior. You know, thinkof your favorite auntie or uncle or grandma,
grandpa, or that person that youworked with that retired. You know,
how, when was the last timewe checked in on anybody? You
know? You know, I feellike with all of this technology and AI
and this and whatever the heck isgoing on, it's all still grassroots.
It's all still that human connection thatpeople forget is so important. You hit

(03:46):
the nail on the head, youreally did. And and you know,
as much as technology has changed ourlives, I always say this, think
about what your grandma used to makea phone call, a rotary phone,
I know, right, and thenwe handed them an iPad and we're like,
Merry Christmas. Well listen. Imean, I'd like to say it's

(04:08):
just for people a certain agent over, but I barely know how to turn
things on, you know what I'msaying. So I'm not that technically advanced.
But I and my friends love itbecause they'll text me and I call
them back. Yeah, I don't. I hate texting. I'm not a
Texter. So you should be avolunteer I should be a volunteer, right,
because I'm a chatty I like tochat. I love it. I'm
a chatter. But but the thingof it is is that you know,
the work that you're doing is soimportant, and sometimes people don't realize organizations

(04:30):
such as yours exist without these awarenesscampaigns, without saying, oh, geez,
you know, maybe I could helpor maybe you know, not for
anything, but I'm finding, likea yacht, a lot of younger people
are feeling isolated too, So matchinga younger person with an older person is
also a great combination as well.It definitely is a treasured connection. Yeah,
you know. So like the servicesthat we do offer meals on wheels

(04:54):
we provide for the town of Farmingtoncongregate lunch, which is open to anyone
sixty or older, and our medicalloan closet open to anyone regardless of age,
in the whole state of Connecticut. So wheelchairs, shower benches, you
name it, call us, We'rehere to help you. So again,
what's the best place. Probably yourwebsite's probably the most direct, with one

(05:14):
stop shopping, right, It's gotall your links in social media and all
that. I think that's the bestyou can always call us eight six oho
six seven three one four four one. But again, your website, website,
everything is there at Farmington Seniors dotorg, Farmington dot org. You
are a delight and I hope thatwe raise a lot of awareness. I
hope you get a lot of money. Do you know where you're at right

(05:35):
now on this first day of theTravelers? You know where you're at.
Where you're at at a little overfour thousand. Oh my gosh. Well
let's hope that doubles by the endof play. All right, that would
be amazing. Come on, everybody, you know what to do. Farmington
Seniors dot org. And Tony youyou're absolutely a wonderful human being. Thank
you for being in I heart community. Thank you so much for na
