Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good afternoon. I'm Allison Demurz at the Travelers Championship in Cromwell.
Alongside I have my guest, Sarah Elizabeth Demeyo Cara Betta.
She is executive director of AX four Ministry. Thank you
so much for being here.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
I am so happy to be in your booth. It's
nice and breezy.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
You look like a model in your beautiful hat with
the breeze going through your hair.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Thank you. It reminds me that it's not as hot
as it is outside.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
I know right and the sun it is super super
hot today a Lias. AX four Ministry has blessed my
life and so many people that I know. But for
those who don't know about it, tell us all about it.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
When you hear AS four Ministry, most times people think
we're a church. We are ministry by definition, so we're
a five oh one C three. We collect and read,
distribute new and reusable basic needs items and we give
them free of charge to people in need. Allison, you've
known this over the years, but for our listeners, I've
been at the home for thirteen years out of the

(00:59):
twenty three years been in existence, and it's incredible to
see the thousands of people we've supported who just need
a hand up in any life devastating event.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Who would be eligible to take advantage of these services?

Speaker 2 (01:15):
You know, I'd like to say out of the pandemic,
because we all had to pivot in some way, shape
or form. Homeless to mid income that have experienced hardship, right,
And I like to say the crack in the cement.
We're all one way, on one side of the cement
and the other what does life look like for someone?
So to be able to give someone dignity, their self respect,

(01:38):
encourage them, but do it with our spiritual foundation. I'm
of the belief that it's less about what we say.
We show what we believe based on how we treat people.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
And if I remember correctly, it's like when they make
an appointment and then when they go there, it's like
they go shopping.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
What I love is that we have I had this vision, Allison,
of setting it up like a bootie where someone would
come in and I can't tell you countless times over
the years people have said, am I in the right location?
This is too pretty for me? And we have the
chance to say to them, no, we're uplifting you. We're
here to encourage you and you get to shop. So

(02:15):
they do. They shop freely in the store. They get
to pick household items and sneakers and jeans and all
of their items that they would need to get back
on their feet.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
Bedroom sets, dining rooms, sets, dishes, absolutely beautiful. Where are
you located.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
We're at seventeen thirteen Thomaston Avenue in Waterbury, which is
the Waterville section of Waterbury. I'd like to say, if
you're on your way to the DMV, look to the
left and we're on the left hand side. And again
everything is free of charge. We have an incredible goal
that we're hoping to surpass by the end of the championship.

(02:51):
I'd love to get to thirty thousand dollars raised, and
even more the better it goes directly into our program
to continue to serve others.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
So please go to act the Number four dot org
or Travelers Championship dot com with the Birdie's for Charity program.
For every dollar raised, Webster Bank is going to give
fifteen cents. So don't wait another moment, do it right
now in case you forget, and you'll be able to
meet that goal exactly.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
And the best part about this particular Birdie's for Charity
and the others that we've participated over the years. There's
no processing fees, Allison, I think we can appreciate every
time you run your card, maybe that nonprofit that you
love dearly has to pay a fee, and because of
the generosity of Webster, we don't have to pay a fee,
which is even better. That means one hundred and fifteen

(03:38):
percent of the gift comes to ax for a Ministry. Wow.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Well, it is a pleasure having you. I'm speaking with
Sarah Elizabeth de Meyo Caravetta. She is executive director of
ax Form Ministry. Thank you so much for being here
and for serving the community.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Thank you, it's an honor.
