Join Big Frank for a nostalgic journey through South Texas music history with Sandy Alexander, the driving force behind the legendary dance band Sandy's Six Pack. The band is reuniting for one final celebration on Saturday, August 23rd at the JK Northway Coliseum—and Sandy shares the incredible story behind this homecoming.

From their debut performance on September 16, 1971 at Mesquite Grove on the Texas A&I University campus (now Texas A&M-Kingsville) to becoming a cornerstone of the South Texas music scene, Sandy's Six Pack left an indelible mark on regional entertainment. Over their 15-year run from 1971 to 1986, the band performed an astounding 2,150 dances across South Texas, entertaining combined crowds of over one million people.

In this intimate conversation, Sandy reflects on the band's journey through the golden era of South Texas dance halls, sharing stories from the road, the evolution of their sound, and what it meant to be part of the fabric of weekend entertainment for countless families and communities. We explore how the band became synonymous with good times and great music, creating memories that have lasted generations.

Sandy also opens up about what it's like to bring the band back together after all these years, the challenges of reuniting longtime friends and musicians, and why they felt compelled to give their fans one last night to remember. This isn't just a comeback—it's a celebration of an era, a tribute to the fans who never forgot, and a chance to say a proper goodbye.

Whether you danced to Sandy's Six Pack back in the day or you're discovering their legacy for the first time, this episode captures the heart and soul of South Texas music culture and the bands that defined it.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
