(00:03):
He's a Texas legend, a Hallof Fame broadcaster, the voice of the
Texas Longhearts, and your host ofthe Craigway Show. Here he is now,
Craig Way. We're just sixty daysaway from college football returning to DKR.
(00:35):
That's right, sixty days away fromopening day of the twenty twenty four
football season between Texas and Colorado State. It'll be here before you know it.
Speaking of being here, Andrew Zimmelonce again joining us from San Antonio.
He's been with me during this timewithout Craigway. He held it down
(00:57):
for me from last week and gladas always to have him back with us.
And of course rocking that notorious SanAntonio Spurs hat as he does every
time every time. Is that ahat you wear every single day? Andrew?
Yeah, dude, it's a stapleof the look. You know,
you gotta have a brand, yougotta have a look. This is the
look. Cam you have that shinychrome dome. I've got the hat.
(01:19):
That's what we got going on.I prefer the beard. The beard is
the look. You don't have tomention the chrome dome. But I'm okay,
okay, okay, I got thehat. Welcome to have you with
us, Andrew, and of coursegot to have you guys with us as
well. Wherever you're listening or watching. Of course, you can join the
show by texting the word Texas toeight one five three zero, followed by
(01:41):
your mess It's still still trying torecover from the SEC celebration, perhaps on
Sunday. Oklahoma's had theirs yesterday andthere's still some audio I want to get
to from the celebration, where fromCrystal Conte, Jim Schlodschnekle, Fixed Shaefer,
Rodney Terry and SEC Commissioner Sank.Of course, you can leave a
message on the iHeartRadio app. Usethe talkback feature, just hold it down
(02:07):
and leave your message. Just sixtydays away from Texas football, maybe let
us know what you're most excited forin what game you're most excited for?
Because a new plethora of teams onthe football schedule. No more Iowa State,
no more Kansas, no more Baylorand Staid. They've been replaced by
the Georgias, the Florida, theKentucky's and many many more. Also,
(02:31):
you can listen to this show onthe Man on the Craigway podcast wherever you
get your podcasts, as well thepreview the day's show. I have a
couple of guests lined up including CarlosSchoenik will be joining us next down at
the tucklot NBA free Agency, TyHarrington coach. Ty Harrington of course former
Longhorn outfielder in Texas State, bobcatHead coach, will join us. Memory
(02:55):
when he was with us on lastweek, it was before Texas had hired
Jim Slasnakel and Ty knows Slosh verywell, so gonna get his thoughts on
the Texas hiring as well as what'shappening the transfer portal Texas Baseball picking up
a few more arms in bats andalso a few flips on the recruiting trail
that Jim Schlosnekele is bringing with himto Austin this next season Brams, but
(03:20):
also A and M retaining some bigkey players that were in the portal.
I'll let you know who those guysare. Also going to talk a little
NFL in this next segment, dealingwith the Dallas Cowboys. Craig. Usually
when the show begins, my middlename is Dallas, and while it does
(03:43):
seem like a bit my dad didwant to name my middle name Dallas because
of the Dallas Cowboys during their theSuper Bowl run, and Craig usually will
ask me what does the D standfor? With the Cowboys has always dumbfounded
because of their decision makings, andas we git closer and closer to the
NFL season starting, it seems likethe Cowboys could be perhaps without what are
(04:04):
their best playmakers on offense if hedecides to hold out, and that is
Ceedee Lamb. We just saw therecord breaking contract Justin Jefferson got thirty five
million dollars his average annual salary, and Ceedee Lamb, who is nearing the
end of his rookie contract, deservesan extension and he may end up holding
(04:26):
out just like we saw last yearwith Zack Martin. Of course, Zack
Martin a little bit longer in theleague, but Ceedee Lamb can make a
lot of money. What will hedo? We'll talk about the Cowboys cap
situation and more into the show,of course, Michael Parsons on that and
Dak Prescott. Three quarterbacks going inthe next season could technically hit the unrestricted
free agency market. Dak Prescott,Jordan Love and Tua Tagavaloa. Now it
(04:51):
does seem like the Packers will resignJordan Love. The TOA situation is very
interesting in the Dak Prescott situation, which could have been avoided. Who knows
what will happen with that. Itdoes seem like Dallas is comfortable with letting
Dak maybe play out this last year, and it seems like Dak is also
comfortable with that. And what willthose two sides do. I don't know
(05:14):
if Jerry Jones knows, but allthe leverage seems to be in Dak Prescott's
sand because even if he does hitthe market, he's going to get whatever
number he's looking for as a freeagent. There's going to be some team
without a quarterback that will be willingto sign him. The Cowboys. There
won't be a quarterback like Dak Prexiccotton the market, and they have not
drafted one really that could possibly fillthe avoid of Dak Prescott. I know
(05:38):
there's some saying Trey Lance Andrew, but that's not a quarterback you trust.
See. I like Trey Lance.I watched him at North Dakota State.
Now, granted the sample size issmall. I just never thought he got
a fair shake in San Francisco.I thought he didn't get the reps that
he needed. If the Cowboys areokay with letting Dak walk, imagine Mike
(06:00):
McCarthy likes what he sees out ofhis backup quarterback. If Trey Lance treats
the preseason like Dak Prescott did intwenty sixteen and used it as like a
you know, hey, this isme, this is what I have.
If Dak goes down and Trey Lancesteps up, maybe we don't even have
this problem come December. Well,if you're gonna roll a quarterback that needs
development, you know, how doesthat work with a team that Jerry Jones
(06:25):
describes as all in. You're allin the super Bowl. You're going to
use a quarterback that has no experience? If you're all in to me,
that means re signing Dak Prescott. Here's the thing. You're talking about a
quarterback when they experience a lot ofCowboys fans are going to tell you,
you know who didn't have any experiencewith Tom Brady. Tom Braid didn't come
(06:46):
in with a ton of experience whenhe backed up. Letso Trey Lance say,
man, look, maybe lightning strikestwice. Who knows well, Tom
Brady had one of the best defensesin the league. Behind him, he
also had probably the best coach, and the Cowboys have neither of that.
So we'll continue this conversation next segmentas well, as we talked a little
(07:09):
bit more NFL and maybe even away too early NFL mock draft. Can
I interest you in at twenty twentyfive early mock Draft? Andrew, I
am curious about that because I don'teven know what college prospects look good this
year coming into the twenty twenty fourto twenty five college football season, let
alone what they're gonna look like inthe NFL big board. But I'm excited.
That's gonna be fun. Well, there's a handful a couple of Texas
(07:33):
Longhorns on that early mock draft fornext season. We'll talk about that as
well in the next segment. Ofcourse, you can always join us on
the iHeartRadio app. Of course, listen on your radio Dill at AM thirteen
hundred zone and watch us on ourlive stream on YouTube, Twitter, and
Facebook. Ty Harrington at four totwenty, Carl Shoning at three to twenty.
(07:54):
We're gonna have various audio from TexasAthletic members including CDC Schlauchnegel, Rodney
Terry, and Fic Schaeffer And asalways always promised this to you guys,
inconceivable on a Tuesday. It's alsoa text and Tuesday here on today's show.
But up next, what are theDallas Cowboys doing? Ugh, it's
(08:16):
a question as old as time. That's next here on The Craig Way Show.
