(00:03):
He's a Texas legend, a Hallof Fame broadcaster, the voice of the
Texas Longhorns, and your host ofthe Craigway Show. Here he is now
Craig Way. We welcome you toanother edition of the program. You're on

(00:30):
Sports Video Am thirty ninety. Someof my name is Craig White, glad
of Egdons and pleased to be joinedFawley's five profusion Camion B. Parker the
b on the version of drews Hansfor Dallas s in the name of sake
of his paper football and at leastthrough the twenty twenty three season in the
thousand to watch them like yet followythink of that? What you will?

(00:54):
Dreadfully hot? I don't know,I don't know. It's it's hot summer
day right here. We are inthe throes of July, right smack Nam
in the middle of summer. Yeahit is. But also Monday was like
eighty degrees at one point, soit's kind of like, eh, you
know, it can be. Yeah, it's a it's a treade off,
but hey, it's July. It'sTexas. Wells do you expect right?

(01:15):
Yeah? All right, So there'sthere's some things to get to on the
program because I've had this said tome a lot. And greetings to those
of you viewing us as well, because we always avail the course opportunity YouTube,
Twitter, and Facebook. So forthose of you viewing us, glad
to have you alongside as well. The it is at this time of year

(01:41):
every year where it is theorized, espoused, believed in large measure that this
is really a dead period in sports. Now, I am going to say
that while I agree that it maynot be as activity activity, uh active

(02:07):
as you might have say in Octoberor March or something like that, it
doesn't mean there aren't things going on, certainly, And toward that end,
if you if you look closer, you can see little things bubbling beneath the
surface. They're heading up to thebusier months of the autumn, and we

(02:30):
kind of tend to bring some ofthose out. In addition to the fact
that talking about the things that aregoing on, you and I I've never
asked you this question before, atleast I don't think I have. Are
you mntioned to tennis? Are youkeeping up with Wimbledon a little bit?
Obviously? Lulusun, the former TexasWomen's tennis player, your classmate. Yeah,

(02:53):
she was at She was at Texasplaying tennis when you were in college
at UT You didn't know Lulu, did you. No. I never really
covered any anything with Texas tennis unfortunately, even though they did win the women's
program went back to back national championshipsright after I graduated with Howard Joffey.
But obviously followed her story and I'llkeep up with it. I'm sure i'll

(03:14):
watch the final. But I wasa big Federer fan of growing up,
so I haven't really found anybody tokind of replace my fandom with him.
Alcarez is great, not really abig joker fan. I don't think many
people are. I did like theAustralian guy who's a bit of a head
case, you know, the onethat's always smashing his racket just because he's

(03:35):
fun to watch, because he's usuallyyelling at his team or his trainer or
his coaches while he's in the middleof playing. He's the one that got
his house broken into. I can'tremember his name. I don't. I
think he's recovering from surgery or something. But I've been following a little bit
of Wimbledon and I'll keep on watchingI've been really big into the Euros in
Copoa, America. Yeah, yeah, I understand that. By the way,

(03:58):
the last Americans has been knocked outtoday, that was Taylor Fritz,
who was higher seated but knocked outin the quarterfinals by Lorenzo Mussetti. I
watched a good chunk of that thismorning, and Mussetti won in five sets.
But they took turns just kind ofbeaten up on one another, Like
Fritz took the first set six tothree. They did have a tie break

(04:19):
when Fritz could have gone up twosets to love, didn't and Mussetti won
that. Then Mussetti won the thirdone six to two. He dominated.
Then Fritz came back and won thefour set sixty three and got the breaks,
and then Mussetti won the final sixto one. So anyway, twenty
two years old from Italy and nowhe gets Novak Djokovic, so a little

(04:40):
bit, a little bit different.I was thinking of Nick Kurios, by
the way, that's serious, yep, yep okay. The while he was
in there. The other semifinal, defending champion Carlos Alkariz against Danel Medvedev.
Uh So they both had advanced yesterday. So anyway, yeah, there is
that going on. But I realized, you know, not everybody gets into

(05:00):
tennis, and so that's that's that'scool. I understand that. If that's
the case. You said you're intothe the Euros. How about you got
the Netherlands in England. Yeah rightnow, Yeah, okay, that's it.
That's a that's a huge match there. And then in the Copa America,
Argentina advanced the finals. They beatCanada. Canada did about as well

(05:26):
as you could probably and getting thatfar, you know, most of the
conversation among the soccer populous is howunready the United States is for a lot
of stuff to be knocked out asearly as they were, you know,
in group stage. So you know, there's there's those kinds of things.

(05:46):
Now, Uh, there are otherthings going on as well, however,
Uh, the if you were listeningto Colin Cowherd or heard him catching up
since he had liked me, hadbeen out on vacation, he was catching
up on NBA off season moves. We did some of that on Monday,
and so that's going. And thenof course so much focus on Dak Prescott

(06:09):
in the boot he was wearing,oh yeah, at the camp. He
got a chance to explain a bityesterday, saying it was more precaution than
he did. I like his reasoning, or at least what was stated is
his reasoning for it. He said, you know, things can things can
happen, and he's he's had alot of activity on it, so he
wanted to take a precaution while hewas doing camp and make sure he didn't

(06:33):
miss stab or something and hurt thatankle again. But he said he's perfectly
fine and he'll be ready to go. So it was if you asked Dak
Prescott, it was much to doabout nothing, you know, forever,
you know Whoever the folks were reportedto think, Calvin Watkins, the Dallas
Morning News might have reported it firstseeing him wearing that boot and he's like

(06:59):
and then no big deal. Butyou made a very good point cam the
other day that we've seen it withUniversity of Texas athletes, even when they
were fine, in good shape, they might be wearing a boot. I
saw on both the men's and thewomen's circuit traveling with those teams. We
would see Dylan de Sue wearing wearingthe boot pretty much when they're even though

(07:20):
he'd be playing in game, andof course some of his practice time had
to be limited coming off the surgeryand all that. But then he was
in a boat, you know, walking around other guys we would be in
a boot. On the women's side, there'd be players in a boot,
you know. And the definition ofwearing that appears to evolve and has evolved

(07:45):
over time. It's no longer justabout if he had a broken ankle or
a severely spraying ankle or foot orwhatever, or knee or whatever. It's
now kind of like a tool ofprecaution and development in terms of keeping all
pressure off of that as you takesteps. Even walking around, you might

(08:05):
be wearing it and then go outto the floor and have a full on
practice for two hours and then whenthe practice over, put the boot back
on and go back over, youknow, helping to prevent swelling and things
like that as well. So it'spart of the deal, I think it's
safe to say, and that's somethingwe've all kind of had to get used
to a little bit. Coming upwill the numeracles. There's numerical and there's

(08:33):
figurative. And what I'm speaking ofis Major League Baseball's regular season. The
figurative first half of the regular seasonis this weekend, the end of the
first half going into the All Starbreak, and the All Star Game is
in our LinkedIn next week, weof course will be in Dallas, sixteen

(08:54):
miles away for SEC Football media days, but the Metroplex will be the hopin
destination next week because have you seenall of the things that they're doing around
the All Star Game, the fanfests? Yeah, and now what they're
doing even beyond it, I mean, apparently it's blowing what they did and
seattle out of the water. SoI'll run down some of those things.

(09:18):
But then there's the numeracle halfway pointof the season, and they've just gotten
to that numerical point pretty much forall the seasons. So there's some first
half grades that some who cover baseballvery very closely mejor League Baseball have issued,
and we'll see if we're in agreementwith those and how those go to
we'll get to that. We dohave inconceivable and a lot of food on

(09:41):
the inconceivable list today, food orienteditems and in food consumption items, because
not just the fast food, there'ssome other weird things involved that would fit
in the inconceivable. We'll do that. Major League Drafters right around the corner
as well. How about safe tosay you're planning to watch Team USA tonight.

(10:05):
I am, and I'll be pullingfor Canada. Look at you what,
Yeah, I've decided to pull forCanada this season in the Olympics.
Why why are you pulling against yourhome country? So you know, I'm
an OKC fan. Okay and ShayGilgess, Alexander Yeah and Lou Dohrts both
on the thunder, both representing teamCanada. I'm pulling for the upset here,

(10:28):
Craig, I'm pulling for the upsetUS as a stacked team, but
I'm pulling for the underdogs here. You're so un American. Anyway, we'll
talk about a little bit about thatUS roster has had an update on it.
We'll get to that also in thefour o'clock hour. Greg Tepper,

(10:48):
managing get Her Dave Campbell Texas FootballMagazine will join us. We visit with
TAP throughout the course of the season. We're going to get a preview of
the brand new magazine and as Imentioned here on Monday, we are going
to do the annual thing. Itdoesn't seem to matter what building I'm in,
what station I'm at. The magazinesfollow me and as a result of

(11:09):
that, we give them out.So we'll be doing that again this summer
we've got and it's just around thecorner where we're going to give you opportunities
to win copies of Dave Campbell's TexasFootball Magazine. And it'll be about more
than just being a random caller,as we've done in many cases in the
past. This will involve just alittle bit of creativity on your part,

(11:30):
but something you are all capable ofdoing, I would say, because you're
certainly all capable of texting us,which you quite often do, and we
do offer up our text line toyou. All you have to do is
text the word Texas follow by yourquestion or comment to eight one five three
zero. Text the word Texas followby your question or comment to eight one

(11:52):
five three zero. Standard messaging anddata rates may apply. This is just
one tiny little step beyond that, but we'll explain that a little more later
on. But Greg Teprob was usto talk about this brand new edition in
Texas Football Magazine that has an aggieand a longhorn on the cover quarterbacks you
might imagine there, So we'll getto that and a whole lot more this

(12:13):
afternoon. It's a Wednesday edition ofthe program right here on sports Radio AM
