Is Quinn Ewers the TOP QB in the country?

Craig and Cam close out Thursday's show by examining Athlon Sports list of Top QB's in the country and #1 will delight Longhorn fans. Who else is on the list and who might Texas see on the football field this year?

the birth of the Big Twelve Conference. The breakup of the Southwest Conference happening
in nineteen ninety five and the birthof the Big birth of the Big Twelve

text line, somebody chimed in andsaid, now do the breakup with the
Little Southwest Conference aka what was doneas District four or five a West Texas

growth. Enrollment shrinkage is the mainreason the Mortal words of George stand stands
a significant shrinkage on the part mainlyof the Abilene schools and Big Screen because
the Big Spring, the original LittleSouthwest Conference as it was known, that
West Texas district that encompassed a greatdeal of the Permian Basin region of the

state was made up way back inthe olden days when Abilene had one high
school. When Odessa had one highschool was Abilene Odessa Midland High. They
had one high school, San Angeloas it was just known as San Angelos.

Now they've got and they only hadone high school, Moon Big Spring
was in it, and there wasa brief time when Amarillo High and love
A Ki were even in and outdepending on the specific year of UIO realignment.

But over time Big Spring dropped outof being that large as school and
went into the lower classification, whichwas then three A because the highest back
of them was four A and thenlater five A, and then first Abilene

High and then Abilene Cooper both droppedout. Now, over time you had
Robert E. Lee High opening Midlin, which is now known as Midland Legacy,
but does a Permian open up,believe in nineteen fifty nine. They
won the first state championship in nineteensixty five, And so you had two
Midland schools, You had two Odessaschools, he had the two Abilene schools,

and they had San Anto Central,so you had seven for a while,
and then with the dropping off ofthe Abaline schools, that's when it
shrinked that down. And now thecurrent makeup which is just six schools are
Midland Legacy, which is the formermiddlele Odessa High or Despermian Midland High,

San Angelo Central, and Friendship Highfrom Wolfath are on the southwest side of
Lubbock where a lot of the growtharea and the lubber area is concerned.
So that's that's where that is.And it's plain and simple, basically just
the you know, the reduction inpopulation overall and certainly in student population back

(03:52):
then, and that's why and that'swhy that that little Southwest Conference is kind
of I wouldn't say shriveled, butit is definitely reduced in terms of its
size. Okay, to quarterbacks,Cam, if I were to ask you
in a lightning round fashion for youtoday, who you think is going in

two the twenty twenty four college footballseason, who is the best quarterback in
the country. Who would you sayit is? Oh Man M Power five
school or four? I guess I'mlooking at all of these down there,
Every one of them are Power five. That there's this first Tier one,

two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight nine,
there's ten Carson Beck there's ten andTier one and then in Tier two there
are one, two, three,five, also Power fives. You don't
even get into some of they're blowuntil you I'm looking to see if there's

anybody below a five quarterback. Itdoesn't. It doesn't really look about them.
But anyway, most say Carson backlike you just said, Avlon's says,
the tier one best quarterback in thecountry is Quinn yours. Now they've
got a number one on the HeismanWatch. And this publication, by the

way, is not that high onTexas. They have Texas finishing as the
number six overall seeds, second toGeorge. They do have a winning two
playoff games, beating Notre Dame inAustin in the six versus eleven seed matchup
and then defeating a higher seeded threeseed, Florida State in a quarterfinal match

in the Peach Bowl, before fallingin the Cotton Bowl in the summifinals to
Ohio State. But they do havethem have him listed there. So out
of those quarterbacks, I guess thetop the top five, then sure top
three. So if Quinn's won,I would think is Shador Sanders two nope,

Well, Howard nope? Oh,Beck yes, okay, yes,
and and then the other two youmentioned uh are not listed there. As
being and these are also listing themin order of Heisman Trophy candidacy. So

number three is Jalen Milroe they havelisted Oh yeah, that's a good one.
I'm surprised Howard is in empire.Where's he at in the list?
He's not in the top ten?What will Howard really? He's not.
He's in the he is in thedon't forget about category, but he's not
even in tier two of the HeismanWatch for quarterbacks and just the Heisman's Watch

overall. After Millroe is Jackson Dartof Ole, miss Dylan Gabe Real Oregon,
then Shudeur Sanders, Uh, It'sNico Uh for Tennessee, Garrett Nutsmeyer
from ls U, and Miller Mossfor USC. Tier two Jalen Daniels Kansas.

And that's the only quarterback there.In tier two they have running backs
there for the Heisman Donovan Edwards ofMichigan, Oli Gordon Oklahoma State, Traveon
Henderson and Quinn Shawn Judkins of OhioState and Uh. Then wide receiver Luther
Burdened the third from Missouri. Andthen in the Don't forget about category they

have Drew Aller, the quarterback atPenn State, Jackson Arnold is listed.
Yeah, Will Howard's listed in thatgroup. Did you did you already see
Kim Rising, Cam Rising's in thatgroup of don't forget about Connor Wigman's in

because understanding where Athlone historically has beenwith regard to the University of Texas.

team Carson Becks listed as the quarterback, not when yours, but they say

yours has a higher ceiling to winthe Heisman Trumphy go figure half of that.
So you kind of have to readthe tea leaves on that thing to
