(00:03):
He's a Texas legend, a Hallof Fame broadcaster, the voice of the
Texas Longhorns, and your host ofthe Craigway Show. Here he is now
craig Way Hour number four gets Underway, Hour number three, the four o'clock

(00:30):
hour gets Underway. I went numberthree of the Frog there and Cameron and
I were up in Dallas for didjevinylike Dallas hangover anything like that? You
didn't when we were up there. You seemed summarily unimpressed with Big b When
we were up in Dallas, it'sa it's an all right city. We

(00:52):
were showing, pointing out things toyou, and you know, Terry Fox,
our program director, was actually thefour of us went out to eat
and I did mention this. Ididn't mention this on Thursday, but it
bears repeating. We went to aplace, and folks in Dallas will remember
or know this place. It's beenaround for a little bit anyway, at
least ten years or so, alittle place called Maple and Motor, which

(01:15):
is named for the fact that it'sright by the intersection of Maple Avenue and
Motor Street. And they're known fortheir burgers. Now by myself I had
a fried Boloney sandwich there. Itwas really really good too. I had
that. But Mike Hardball hard TerryFox, the PD, the program director,

(01:38):
and Cam all went the cheeseburger routexcept Cameron went double and it's a
huge burger and he devoured it beforethe rest of us even finished our sandwiches.
And he liked the burger right,it was good. It was good.
Now, I do think Nick's upin O case is better. I
probably wouldn't argue with you about it. Nix's Nicks Nick Grill is fabulous in

(02:05):
downtown Oklahoma City, but it's amuch bigger piece of meat now, I
think. I think the late tomove was a pound with the double,
which was a lot, even evenfor me it was. It was a
lot, but a good spot spotand it's I love the I love just
kind of like the it. It'snot huts, but it kind of reminds

(02:25):
me of that small kind of I'mguessing it's family owned where it's not a
chain. You know, it's one. There's a lot one. There's not
going to be one in San Franciscoor one in Nashville. It's like this
is the only one. And Ilike that about certain spots, and it
kind of reminded me of Huts inthat aspect, a much different type of
burger, different five, but Ienjoyed the small, family style restaurant.

(02:49):
You are aware of the fact youcan still get a hamburger for at the
airport. Yea. All you haveto do is be flying somewhere or coming
in from a flight. It's insidethe secure area. They're all the concourse
with all of those other places.I've enjoyed a hamburger and a milkshake from
the new Huts in the airport,But otherwise you were just kind of about
Dallas. We were pointing out differentplaces and stuff, and Terry even asked,

(03:13):
you, said, what if youhad what if you got an opportunity
to come up here and live andwork? I don't think he never asked
me. He asked, I thinkyou that I didn't. I didn't he
never asked me directly that. Oh. I just don't think I know enough
about Dallas like I would have, because if I'm up there, it's either
for the Cotton Bowl, and mostof the time we're the State Fair,
which I love for the Texas. Are you get me in the cotton ble
that's one of my favorite things todo on this planet is the Texas State

(03:36):
Fair in the Cotton Bowl. Orwe're up in Arlington, which is not
Dallas, and that's a Dutch butyeah, in Arlington, it's all right,
it's all right. But in termsof actual Dallas, the Fort Worth
area and the First Color, Ihave not spent enough time, so I
am undecided on that. And thesame thing with Houston. I've you know,
I've been as Honestly, the mosttime I ever spent in Houston was

(03:58):
this past basketball and that was justone night when we were down there for
Texas LSU. When you were youwere not there, you were calling the
Texas State High School football champions. It was me and Roger Wallace and EO.
But I have not spent too muchtime in Houston or Dallas to decide
whether or not like it, dislikeit or what. But I do love
Austin. Okay, all right, all right, Yeah, that's that's fair

(04:19):
enough. You know, maybe whathas to do has to happen is you've
got to go up there sometimes. And was it good to the PGA headquarters
up there in Frisco? Yes,that is a I mean when the PGA
Championship is in Frisco. I willdefinitely be up there, and they've got
the big headquarters up there, thebuilding. We go up there and play,

(04:39):
right, it costs only about fourhundred dollars to play at all.
Okay, slightly blowd what it wouldcost a pebble beach, you know to
do that. Okay, exactly,it's the good point there. I was
looking at it's something during the breakbecause we you know, check social media
and the like, and our goodfriend chief of staff or University of Texas
Athletics Plonsky, posted a picture onFacebook of the empty block now where the

(05:06):
Irwin Center once stood. I havenot driven by it since they they've completely
tore it down, so that's goingto be odd to see that in person.
It's just completely leveled. The blockis completely leveled. And you know,
for several weeks I had somebody describeit, and I totally agree with

(05:29):
it. It kind of looked likeit had this real post apocalyptic look to
it. You know, there's justthere's just a shell and pieces of metal
hanging down. It looked like ithad been kind of bombed out or whatever.
Now it's all gone. Everything isgone. Is just flat. Now
we know the the Dell Medical School'sgoing up there, but I must have
been. And don't get me wrong, i absolutely love Moody Center right,

(05:56):
and I'm glad. I'm happy tobe called Texas Games in the Moode Center.
I'm happy to be going to concert. I got a bunch of concerts
coming up that Lindon I A.We're going to see Elo there, We're
going to see America there. We'regonna see Barry Man Alver there. Jenna

(06:16):
Jackson Janet Jackson did not make thecut on this particular tape. But that's
this Saturday. I know, well, you know where I'm going to be
Saturday. I'll be in Brownsville.I'm going to be down in the Rio
Grand Valley. I have an eightyear old grandson. I have no idea
where he got this skill ability. It wasn't for me. It had to

(06:38):
be the jeans from his dad's sideof the family. Baseball, uh no,
the six year old plays baseball andhe's playing. He's playing on an
All Star select team. And howabout swimming? Oh okay, this is
an eight year old kid who hasqualified for the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation TAAF

(07:00):
State Championships as an eight year oldin his eight year old division in two
events, the freestyle and in thefreestyle relay. So Theo Carrol, my
grandson, son of my daughter Hayleyand her husband, Tyler Carroll, will

(07:23):
be competing at the state championships, the TAAF State Championships this Saturday morning in
Brownsville. So Friday, we're goingto drive down there, Linda and not
going to drive down and we're goingto see THEO and action in his two
events, as good grandparents would do. So we're gonna go down and see
him compete in Brownsville, and thenwe're gonna drive up to Houston's Saturday night.

(07:46):
And yes, I'm catching Dodgers asteroidson Sunday. So I'm looking at
the upcoming events at the Moody Center. Okay, do you guess how many
farewell tours? There are? Six? Close? Four? I've already kind
of four Manelo, which is thelast Austin concert. He yeah, and
Linda talked me into that because shereally want to see she she really wanted

(08:07):
to see Barry Manilow. And Iin my concert vending days, I worked
Barry Manilow but I said, Okay, we'll go. We'll go, and
we have pretty decent price on somepretty decent seats, so we go.
Yeah. So that's a farewell tour. Jeff Lynn's the over and Out tour,
that's the ell thing, and we'llbe there for that in October.
Absolutely, Cindy Lauper. Girls justwant to have fun. Farewell tour?
When is that November fourteenth? Okay, I would think that I wouldn't mind

(08:31):
seeing it if it worked out datewise, and then one, I know
you probably won't be interested in.It's Aerosmith's farewell tour, the peace Out
Tour. When is that November sixth? It's the show right before. Yeah,
I'm not. I'm not anti Aerosmith. I'm just there. They're just
not my favorite band of all time, but they're they're okay. Oh and

(08:52):
one more of than Who's farewell tono kidding? Yeah again? Another another
who farewell to her? Right?Uh? No, I'm not. I'm
I'm nothing against Arisman. I likehim. I'm just I don't look at
Aerosmith in the same way that Ilook like, say to elo other bands,
and I know one of my bestfriends in the world. They've Garrett
in Oklahoma City. He loves Elo, but I'll bet you he likes Arisman

(09:13):
just about as much. And Iknow a lot of people who would rather
see Aerosmith than say Elo. Iget it. That's that's a person's own
musical taste and nothing wrong with that. I you know, I would love
to see Billy Joel again. He'sin the Alamo Dome on Friday, I
believe it's October twenty fifth, withWho's with him? Sting And I'd love

(09:41):
to say, but that's the nightbefore Texas plays at Vanderbilt, So I'll
be in Nashville. That's tough.Yeah, So I miss out on that,
but that's that's all right. Soanyway, lots of other shows still
to come and from the yacht rockworld and I are going up to Arlington
to see Ambrosia in the but GeraldJerry World, No, No, they

(10:05):
would. They're in the Arlington MusicHall, which is a lot like the
Paramount here. It's an old theater. Okay, that's the only place where
I would see a band like that, you know. Where we want smaller
Yeah, smaller venue like we didwith Boss Gaggs like a year ago.
Yesterday we went to see the BossScaggs where we saw Herb Alpert, you
know, like the small venues forthose types of things as well. But
that'll be in October. All right, we're gonna hear more from low Worn's

(10:28):
head coach Steve Sarkisian, and againwe have a couple of spots remaining.
