(01:37):
If you have a question of comment. You simply text the word texts followed
by your question or comment to eightone to five to three zero standard message.
You can data rates may apply. The question came up somebody's asking why
Cameron Parker was so down on theGrateful Dead or felt that they were overrated.
So and then I said, wewere talking about different offerings, and
(01:59):
I said, I'm going to gooff the grid here with you a little
bit. It was it was definitelyoutside the regular I'm going to their the
title cut of their nineteen seventy eightalbum Shakedown Street, which was panned by
a lot of folks who said itwasn't a Grateful Dead sound, and it's
a different sound. That's why youlike it, right, Yeah, yeah,
different. It had a different soundto it as well, if than
(02:19):
Trucking or Uncle John's Band or youknow some of the other ones there on
that or somebody went touch of gray, uh that kind of thing. Somebody
said just play it loud. Sosomebody else said to appeal to Cameron's countryside,
maybe try Jack straw country side.I didn't know I have a country
(02:42):
side? Did you have a countryside? Okay? And our man CB
ever, the savant said the gratefuldead, Yeah, did give us one
of the greatest ice cream flavors ever, Cherry Garcia. That's from Ben and
Jerry of course CB. Yeah, hey you CV and he and he's right,
it is good. You ever hadCherry Garcia? Have you ever speaking
of Garcia? Actually, have youever had any of his ties? Because
(03:05):
I used to own a Jerry Garciatime. I never had one, but
I saw them. Yeah, youcan't miss those things. Yeah, yeah
did because he he went like hehad like paintings and stuff too. Did
he get into all of that stuffor I know, yeah, he's into
a lot of art forms. Yeah. Okay. So one thing, and
I meant to bring this up yesterday, didn't We missed it on Saturday?
Anyway, Sunday Sunday was National iceCream Day? Oh were you aware of
(03:30):
that? I was not. Didyou eat ice cream on Sunday ice cream
on I had ice cream on Saturday, So okay, you got it?
Yeah, I got I got Igot my ice cream. Did it?
Was? So we went to Allyou Can Eat Sushi Sushi j No,
because that's where I think to goto get ice cream. Well, it's
funny. They they have an incredibleit's like a green tea ice cream.
(03:52):
Really yeah, it's the only thingthey have in the menu in terms of
ice cream. So usually after wedo All you Can Eat, you know,
we end it with the green teaice cream. Okay, okay,
I'm here to tell you this thefollowing. Hey, I do like green
tea. I like it a lot. B I don't drink it. And
the reason I don't drink it,I had a throat expert tell me years
(04:15):
ago green trick. Green tea drivesout your vocal cords and for someone who
uses his throw quite a bit, especially in season, you know. But
I'll go, you know, atStarbucks. I'll get a green tea,
uh you know, lemonade or ablack tea lemonade. I'll get those as
well. So I'll mix it inevery now and then. But when I
(04:39):
get in season doing football follow bybasketball, men's and women's basketball, and
then baseball and all that. Iusually stay away from Green Tea because they
said it could. It's just likeour our good friend, our man,
our colleague, our teammate, mycards where you hear the hards. Doc's
(05:05):
life we day morning seven to ninehere on sports Radio AM thirteen under the
Zone texted me the other day andhe said, I'm losing my voice.
Can you help me out a lookthe year? You have any tips?
And I said, well, thefirst thing, you know, I was
texting all this Tom while I wasin San Antonio. I said, well,
the first thing is to try totalk as little as possible for like
(05:29):
the next forty eight hours. Startoff with that then, And I know,
Mike at Harge like you like me, like a program director, Terry
Fox. We've been running hard lately, going a lot hours and not a
lot of sleep, you especially becauseyou were working both ships, and uh,
(05:53):
lack of sleep will drain your voicepower quicker than you might think.
And so I told him, youknow, try to see if you can
get seven hours or eight hours evenor something like that. A minimum of
six, but at least hopefully aboutseven, maybe even eight hours on some
(06:14):
consecutive nights while not talking much. That would help. The third thing is
if you're talking about beverages, firstof all, stay away from as many
caffeinated carbonated beverages as possible. Sodoes in specific, because it lays on
your vocal cords. It'll do that. The syrup and caffeine constricts the vocal
(06:36):
cords. So and I would tellthem, and again, this is all
stuff that I've had thrown people tellme before. Caffeine will constrict your vocal
cords a little bit. And thenand then I gave him the you know
my home revenue. You've heard metell you about it. Where you you
know, if you get some herbaltea, it's got to be herbal because
if you get regular tea bags, they got caffeine in them. Get herbal
tea bag like maybe a Lemon Zingerfrom Celestial Season, and you drop that
(07:00):
bag in there and pour some boilingwater of it, let it steep for
about five or six minutes, youfish it out, you take the bag
out tea in that particular instance thatLemon's singers. Look, it's gonna look
Crimson, Oklahoma, Crimson red iswhat it's going to look like. Then
you take like this heaping tablespoon ofhoney, preferably local honey. It has
(07:20):
more homeopathic product, it has moreof those properties in it that can help.
But you get like a heaping tablespoonof local honey, you stort in.
It's gonna turn it real dark, like a dark brown whist. Then
you squirt some lemon juice in it, either from cutting up a real lemon
or just a plastic lemon bottle, and you squirt some lemon juice toad.
(07:42):
It'll turn it kind of back redagain. And then you slowly sip that
and you can do it two, three times a day or whatever. It
helps. It softens things up,but it's not a cure all. Only
really rest and not use it thatmuch can really can really help. So
I passed that along off of that. Used it last year couple of times.
Did help ball basketball season. Yeah. Yeah. But the other thing
(08:03):
that doesn't help it soda. SODA'sfor sure. I've had people say,
wow, they drink you some bourbonand drink is it No. No,
might make it necessary temporarily feel better, but it's again, it's gonna constrict
the vocal core. Is alcohol willdo it as well, so be careful
all of that if you're using yourvoice, you know, like we do
(08:26):
for a living or whatever that sortof thing. So if speaking of the
green tea, Lipton has like agreen tea citrus flavor, I don't think
I've seen it. I've never triedit, like in a bottle that you
would buy at the gas station.I was obsessed with that so as a
kid. Really, I haven't hadone in a long time, but I
used to that would be my goto if I was craving some green tea.
(08:46):
So it's it's made by Lipton, you're saying, yeah, so it's
green tea citrus. Okay, you'veseen it before. I don't know.
Actually, I don't know if theysell it regionally here, and it might
have just been an East Coast thing, but I used to love it for
yeah, that with the Harris Teetersub and Bagga Cheetos, folks, that's
a supermarket chain, Harris Teeter. It's uh. Is it based in Charlotte
(09:11):
or just based in the southeast, based in North Carolina? I believe it's
either Charlotte or Raleigh a head quartersor in North Carolina. Okay, all
right, Yeah, it's a supermarketchain like atb or Randalls. Yeah.
Matthews, North Carolina is their headquarter. Okay, well Matthews is a suburb
of Charlotte. So there you go. You go and get your sub sandwich
from your local Haris Teeters at thedeal. Yeah. Okay, okay,
(09:37):
uh yeah. Indeed, all right, We've got some more football and baseball
notes to get to coming up.Also, we'll play a couple of those
talk back things just to give youan idea if those who are still a
little bit uncertain about how this works. To win a copy of the magazine,
we'll do that when we come backhere on Sports Radio AM thirteen under
the zone of the iHeartRadio app.
