Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the program here on Sports Radio AM thirteen
hundred of the Zone. My name is Craig White. Glad
to have you with us alongside, and we're happy to
be bringing you the program once again from our nice, comfortable,
cozy iHeart compound. We includes the producer of this program,
Cameron D.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Parker.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
The D on the birth certificate stands for Dallas. Has
in his favorite NFL team, sort of the Dallas Cowboys
that he followed so closely. Says he won't watch, but
he is keeping up with them and that's a good thing.
So that's your Thursday going so far.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Not too bad. Craig more training camp updates, Jerry Jones
and Steven Jones and McCarthy speaking to Day in Oxford, California.
Ceedee Lamb is in Houston, still not with the team
as he waits his contract, so things could be better
on that front. But there's many teams dealing with these
contract disputes. But as we get Thursday means we're just

(00:58):
one day closer to football turning Creek. So now thirty
seven days away from Texas football, well, Matthew days away
from there. You goball returning against Colorado.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Absolutely, absolutely coming up on the program this afternoon. We
have a lot of things if we go in reverse order,
in backward order, we'll tell you. Coming up in the
four o'clock hour, we'll talk Major League Baseball with Geene
Watson from the Chicago White Sox front office. Gino happens
to be at the game with the White Sox playing
the Texas Rangers right now and the Rangers looking for

(01:29):
a sweep at that series, so we'll keep you updating
on that. But he'll join us from Globalfe Field in
Arlington to talk Major League Baseball. We are coming up
fast on the trade deadline, so we get his thoughts
on that and other Major League Baseball topics. That's in
the four o'clock hour and a three o'clock hour, we
will visit with Greg Tepper, managing editor Dave Campbell's Texas

(01:53):
Football Magazine, a weekly conversation with Tep to talk today
when we had him on a couple of weeks ago
before the break with for SEC media days and so on.
We discuss the composition of the magazine as we do
every year in our first visit, but also we did
a little previe of six a high school football and

(02:18):
I won't say the only thing you need to know,
but a good chunk of what you might need to
know about six A is that the more things change,
the more they remain the same. In that both Duncanville
and six A Division one and the Soto and six
A Division two are are favored to repeat and both
would have a three peat if it happens. And there

(02:39):
are these two arts rivals there in southwest Dallas County.
They're they're in the same district as well, but the
Soda will definitely go six A Division two no matter
what because they have actually A five A enrollment numbers,
so they'd be in different divisions. However, speaking of five
A today, TEP will be on with us. We'll talk
about a couple of other things, but we will also

(02:59):
have a little five A preview from him. Five A
Division one, five A Division two that includes the area
schools like Cedar Park, Liberty Hill, just to name a couple,
so we'll get his thoughts on that. So we'll do
that and we'll talk some college football with him and
the magazine in the three o'clock hour coming up here

(03:19):
in a few minutes, we will hear something from Jerry
Jones anyway, from the Camp opening news conference, Jerry, as
we know, has settled his legal situation with Alexandra Davis
and her mom regarding the whole paternity question thing, which
he now can continue to say. He you know, he

(03:44):
can go was it Mariy Povich? He is not the father.
He can say that. He can say this because there'll
be no paternity test. But they've settled, and he's out
in Oxnard, California, or as Cam was mimicking him, as
he likes to say, Oxnard. He's in Oxtar in California
with the cowboys, and we'll hear from Jerry Jones from that.

(04:06):
So that's coming up in a few minutes here in
the two o'clock hour. Also, we'll have Inconceivable in this
two o'clock hour as well. And as always, two things
first and foremost. As always, we invite your questions, your thoughts,
your comments on our text line. If you have a
question or comment and you'd like to ask us about

(04:27):
it or tell us about something, feel free to do.
So what you do is you text the word Texas
follow by your question or comment to eight one five
three zero. So text the word Texas follow by your
question or comment to eight one five three zero. Standard
messaging and data rates may apply. We always offer that

(04:50):
up to you. The other thing that we've been offering
this week and we're going to do it next week
as well, is speaking of Greg Tepper's where a few
moments ago a brand new, it's freshly minted and printed
copy in all of its four hundred page glory of
Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine. They're just now starting to
reach area stores, supermarkets, Walmart, Target, I think those places,

(05:14):
Barnes and Noble. But you can get a copy for
free from us, and it's really pretty simple. We've been
doing this and folks have really taken to it, and
that's a cool deal. And that's our talkback feature now
instead of like we've done going all the way back
to nineteen ninety eight, the first year we started giving
away these copies of these magazines. When we just ask

(05:37):
for whatever, caller number five, caller number ten, caller number two, eight, whatever,
there's a little effort on your part other than dialing
and being randomly the guy this time, this can help
you ensure the fact that you actually get a copy.
And that's to use our talkback feature. So what you
do is, if you haven't already, let's just say you

(06:00):
haven't downloaded the iHeartRadio app to your smartphone being an iPhone, Android, whatever,
you just do it. It's real easy to do. So
you just download the iHeartRadio app and then you'll see
where AM thirteen under the zone comes up. So it
comes up on there, and then after it comes up,

(06:20):
you'll see two buttons. One the button you pushed here,
what's on the air like I just did accidentally heard
my own voice there for a moment. But the other button,
this little red button here for those of you watching
on the YouTube with a white microphone, that's the talk
back feature. All you have to do you push that
button and you just leave us a message fifteen twenty
twenty five seconds. Don't go over thirty because if you do,

(06:42):
it'll cut you off, but like fifteen twenty twenty five
seconds something like that, and tell us what you look
forward to reading in the magazine every year? Is it
the cover story? This year, it's called Rivalry Reborn and
it's when you Weers the Texas quarterback and Connor Wigman,

(07:03):
the Texas A and M quarterback. On that maybe you
just look forward to seeing who's on the cover or
on the gatefold cover, which is the father's son team
of Gary Joseph, the head coach of Katie and Jeff Joseph,
his son who's the head coach at Portin HS grows,
the defending state champions in five A Division two. Maybe
it's the college football previews, the Texas preview. There's an

(07:25):
SEC preview in there, obviously with Texas A and M
being in there as well. There's a big twelve preview
previews of TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech Houston. Then also Conference USA,
say with SAM Houston and UTEP, American Athletic with North
Texas and UTSA and Rice in the American Athletic Conference.

(07:51):
Even also into that the ACC because SMU is now
on the ACC, so there's an ACC preview in there
as well as an SMU preview in there. And then
of course the high school preview takes up almost half
the magazine, nearly two hundred pages. It is the most
in depth coverage of football in the state you can
find in a printed form, and we give away copies

(08:14):
every day. We're gonna give away ten more today. All
you have to do to the first ten people who
do this is just utilize the talkback feature, hit that
hit that red button and tell us he I like
I like reading about the log horns in the preview
or whatever, or a small colleges junior college is a
Division three, Division two, Division one, whatever, whatever it might

(08:35):
be in AI, whatever. If you have a specific thing
that you anticipate and look forward to reading about in
Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine, just let us know on
that talkback feature and we will get a copy of
the magazine. We'll tell you that you are a winner.
So we'll do that. It's it's as simple as.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
That, all right.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
Coming up, we'll update you on the baseball scoreboards, and
we'll hear from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones because he is
now out in ox Start and doing his state of
the team news conference, which apparently took about an hour,
but we'll hear a couple of things from that. We'll
do that and we'll continue right here on sports Radio
AM thirteen under the Zone and the iHeartRadio app.
