Speaker 1 (00:02):
It's the Craig Way Show with the voice of the
Texas Longhorns in Hall of Fame broadcaster Craig Way.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
We just turned on that report from iHeartRadio that today,
July twenty ninth, is, in fact, the thirty first birthday
of Rain's Dakota Pruscott. Did you know that was DAC's
first name was Rains. Did you know that?

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (00:31):
I think so. Okay, I knew that Dakota wasn't his
first name. Yeah right, okay, all right, So anyway, happy birthday.
Hopefully he gets a big birthday present later somewhere down
the line, gets a contract. If you didn't get it
with Dallas, he'll get it with somebody. He's gonna get paid.
He'll get paid. There's too many teams out there could
use a quarterback of his skill set and they would

(00:54):
pay for If Jerry is unwilling to pay it as well,
We're willing to give you a copy of Dave Campbell's
Texas Football Magazine if you will only leave us a
message on the talkback feature off the iHeartRadio app. You
click on the iHeartRadio app and then to a thirteen
under the zone. You see the little ridden button with

(01:14):
the white microphone, you punch it and then you leave
us a message like this one that we just got,
and you'll receive a copy of the magazine for leaving
us a message on talkback like this one.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Yeah, this is Thomas on the Dave Campbell magazine. I
really like getting to read about some of the smaller
schools that don't get all the publicity.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
You know what. He must have been reading my mind
and congratulations, you get a copy of it during the break,
believe it or not, during the commercial break. And I've
been through the vast majority of the magazine, starting when
it was on vacation, but it takes a while to
sift through into and to do it at a pace
that would help you retain what you need to retain.

(02:04):
I was going through class to a Region four and
you said, what is that? That's the smallest division of
eleven man football? In part because I passed through some
of these little towns when I went down to the
Valley and then up to Houston, I went near when
you were driving by, did you have Linda just with
a copy and just like, okay, let's look at this
high school and those about this Okay, now this one

(02:25):
then we all did. I didn't do that, but what
I did do I will admit. Like when we passed
through ben Bolt, the name of a high school is
actually ben Bolt hyphen Polito Blanco, ben Bolt Polita, but
nobody calls them that. He's called the ben Bolt Badgers

(02:45):
because the school is in ben Bolt. And I was
just reading about ben Bold. They picked third in the district.
They got an enrollment of one hundred and forty kids
in that and they come off a playoff appearance a
season ago. And it's right on two eighty one. When
going down south, like we were down to the valley,
we passed near Ogwadell Say, we passed near Levilla. We

(03:06):
went through Woodsboro on the way back up, going back
up toward Houston, and I mentioned to Linda, I said,
Woodsborough as they had nice little town and friendly and
all that stuff, and that's cool. I said, they've they've
struggled in some of their athletic endeavors, especially in football,
but they are picked to be a playoff team this year.
So anyway, that's And then I went near Louis and

(03:29):
Charlotte and Pettis and Yorktown. We know about Shiner, their
state championship pedigree. So anyway, I was reading about a
lot of the smaller two A schools in Division two
and region for the smallest division in eleven. Man football
helps me prepare for what I'm gonna do for this season,
obviously the television show on Friday night, and just being

(03:50):
able to talk about it and look at all that
and get ready for all that, and then ultimately for
the state championships as well. Speaking of championships him across.
This is a pretty interesting story and the headline says
super Bowl ad rates have plats hoed and may have

(04:14):
peaked heading into Super Bowl fifty nine. It's saying super
Bowl fifty nine ad prices won't be substantially increasing and
may have hit a peak. Joe Lucia wrote this article.
He said it advertisers looking to nab a spot during
Fox's Super Bowl fifty nine broadcast in February may not
be in for a price increase compared to the last

(04:34):
several years. According to Adage magazine, Fox is seeking around
seven million dollars for ad slots for its next Super
Bowl broadcast in February, similar to the last two editions
that were on Fox and CBS. However, it is an
increase from about twenty twenty one to twenty twenty two.
Future increases in Super Bowl ad pricing may not be

(04:58):
in the cards, however, at a just noticing that the
lack of a significant increase comes even after the Super
Bowl has drawn record viewership in each of the last
two years, and that some media buyers fuel the prices
just can't go any higher, so the buyers have said
it is an immune from broader market trends. The game

(05:20):
itself may be reaching its pricing peak as media companies
respond to growing competition in the upfront market by rolling
back pricing, particularly in streaming, in exchange for larger commitment volumes.
Here's a quote from a media buyer who said, there's
a value ceiling for the most expensive unit cost we're
ever going to pay. There's only so much higher it

(05:42):
could reasonably go. Also says the return on Super Bowl
ads can also be mixed with ads that don't stand out,
representing somewhat of a wif and with more companies trying
to hit it out of the park, it's tougher to
stick to the landing. Other words, get that commercial that
we're always talking about the next day after a super Bowl, which,
by the way, leads us back to the same conversation

(06:04):
we've had over and over over the years that you know,
if they move the season back another week, if they
play eighteen games, then maybe the super Bowl has played
the day before the MLK holiday, so everybody gets the
day off after the super Bowl. Great, wouldn't It's a
lot of people have been wanting that for a long time,

(06:26):
to have the day off after the super Bowl because
they're making quite merry watching the super Bowl, eating and
drinking and just enjoying themselves watching the game, even if
they don't have a rooting interest in the game itself.
Or maybe if those ads just aren't grabbing their attention.
But that's the rub there. They can they produce an

(06:48):
ad that grabs enough attention for the amount of money
they're having to pay seven million dollars for an ad
they're in the Super Bowl would hold the line, but
it would not increase what happened from last year. All Right,
