Speaker 1 (00:00):
Glad to have you with us here on a Texan Tuesday,
you said the Rangers have been involved in a deal
here on this trade deadline Tuesday, which we're now two
hours away from the deadline hitting us.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
It's two hours from now when it ends. And the
Rangers made another deal you've mentioned.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
Yeah, added a lefty to their bullpen, trading for Andrew Chaffin.
The other parts of the deal maybe another player cash
have not been named yet by the Rangers add to
their bullpen. So it does appear that Chris Young and
this team are still buying, but waiting to see if
we're going to get a big, big deal here at

(00:41):
the deadline. It's been rumored Texas wanted to add another bat.
Their lineup has been struggling this season. No one is
hitting like they were last season. They did trade for
Carson Kelly, the Tigers catcher, the kind of beef up
that spot with jonah Heims struggling, But remains to be
seen if Chris Young the Rangers will make a big deal.
Kind of like what the Astros said yesterday, Astros kind

(01:02):
of knowing that maybe their title window is closing, so
gave up some some really key pieces out of their
farm in a trade yesterday to try and maybe make
another push here this season.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Here's the deal the Astros made yesterday.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
They here's a guy getting ready to start the game,
Jake Bloss, and then they said, nope, you're not starting
rumbullpen game. And then there was this video if you
were watching it on what's it called space City Home network?
Is the Astros home and the Rockets home regional sports
network now it's called space City Home Network. And you

(01:41):
see him get into a not a golf cart, I
guess it would just be like a cart there, and
and some guy driving and he had his bags and
he had he had his equipment bag packed and he
kind of waved and it was weird listing in it
was watching the telecast with Todd Callis and Jeff Plum

(02:03):
doing it, and they said, maybe we'll have some more
details with the details were already out that they've made
this deal with the Blue Jays. So they sent Bloss,
who is the number nine prospect, along a rookie outfielder
Joey low Perfido saw him play on Sunday against the
Dodgers and minor league infielder Will Wagner the number thirteen prospect,

(02:25):
of course, the son of Billy Wagner, the former Astro
relief legend, sent him to Toronto in exchange for thirty
three year old you say, Kakuchi, so left hander and
Dana Brown. The GM said, ultimately, we felt like, if
you're going to get a starter, which is team desperately needs,

(02:45):
you add this guy and get Verlander back into the rotation.
That will open things up first and maybe we can
get on a nice little roll. So that's that's where
it was. And you said, the initial response from Astro
fans was not a exactly favorable.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
No, because what they gave up a lot of promising
prospects for a starter who has not really had a
great year, to be honest, looking at what he's done
this season. So it does seem like that this is
kind of a move that the Astros window might be closing.
I mean, these guys have been together for what seven

(03:25):
straight ALCS appearances in a row, so knowing that maybe
their window is coming short kind of going all for
broke here at the deadline.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Here here are the trades have gone down up to
this point. And again there's some that are significant and
some less so this today. Here's what's happened. The Royals
picked up short stop Paul Young from the White Sox.
What the White Socks are just dumping everything that got

(03:56):
left onto the field because they've just they now have
a fifteen game losing streak, their longest in franchise history.
And uh so, uh, they're they're they're trying to trying
to build for the future. They also picked up right
hand or the Royals dead lu Lucas Ersak from the A's,

(04:17):
so they've done that.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Then the Astroids today.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Hey, the Astros picked up Turd Ferguson. It's Caleb Ferguson
is his real name, but we're referring to the Saturday
Night Live character Reynolds. Uh that Burt Reynolds played by
the late Norm MacDonald. Uh said his name was Turd Ferguson.
But Caleb Ferguson, left hander, used to pitch for the

(04:43):
Dodgers and he went to the Yankees, and uh the
Yankees traded Ferguson had a five to one to three
e R or forty two appearances. Uh, and so that's
a lefty option for the bullpen there. But the Astros
also picked up right handed or rather, the Yankees picked

(05:03):
up right handed reliever Mark Lighter Junior from the Cubs.
Earlier in the day, the Angels acquired right hander Mike
Baalman from the Giants for cash. The Guardians picked up
right hander Alex Cobb from the Giants for left hander
Jacob Bresdahan and a player to be named later. Josh
Bell was a guy who had been dfa'd by the Marlins,

(05:26):
and the Diamondbacks picked him up today because Christian Walker
exited last nights came against the Nationals winn.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
An obleak injury.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
The Orioles picked up left handed Trevor Rodgers from the
Marlins for second baseman Connor Norby and outfielder Kyle Style.
All of this is today, by the way, Red Sox
picked up right handed Lucas Sims from the Reds for
right hander OVAs Portis. Yankees, as I mentioned, picked up
Mark Lighter Junior for Jack Neely, a pitcher, and Ben Coles,
an infielder.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
That they sent to the Cubs.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Pirates picked up left hander Josh Walker from the Mets
for left hander Nicholas Carena, and last night it was
Rage Silaire going from the Giants back to the Braves
where he'd been the MVP of their twenty one World
Series and it had been a part of that twenty
twenty one World Series team. They also got Luke Jackson

(06:17):
back as well. They sent Tyler Matzik and seven Soblos back,
and then the Brewers yesterday picked up Frankie Monsas from
the Reds for Joey Weimer, also outfielder reliever Jacob Junis
and cash, and the Pirates picked up Jalen Beaks from
the Rockies for left handed Luis Peralta. The Dodgers picked

(06:40):
up Ahmed Rosario, finished the season with him last year
after they picked him up for Cleveland let him go
he'd signed with the Rays picked him up for reliever
Michael Flint. So there's been a lot of stuff going on,
but only a few have really been real eyebrow raising
deals like what they what the Astros did, what the

(07:01):
Yankees did, and getting Jazz Chism. The Mariners have been
busy as well, so we'll see they're inside of two
hours to the deadline. We'll see if anybody else makes
any other big, big deals.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
On the trade deadline.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
All right, up, next, we'll hear from Loghorn football assistant coaches.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
That's next one.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
We continue on sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone,
and the iHeartRadio app.
