Speaker 1 (00:00):
Craig Way alongside the producer Cameron Parker, and glad to
have you with us. A long time I was talking
about this Texas Football magazine. I'm going to get more
into this coming up here in a moment, just to
let you know. Coming up and a little bit, we'll
update the trade deadline stuff going on. Major League Baseball

(00:22):
trade deadline is fifty nine minutes and counting, so clock
is ticking on that. So we'll update the trade deadline
things on that. We'll hear from Texas coaches as well.
I was talking about this magazine, the Dave Campbell's Texas
Football Magazine, because it's got all these previews you know
of First of all, it has a national preview of
all the conferences, the major you know, the Power five

(00:44):
Conferences and things like that. As it's recruiting, a preview.
It has an ACC preview because SMU is in there now.
In addition to its SMU preview, it is TCU, Houston, Baylor,
and Texas Tech previews and a Big twelve Conference preview
for those four schools in that league. It has TAX
in Texas A and M obviously UH in the SEC.

(01:05):
It has the the G five conferences like the American
Athletic Conference, which has uts A in it from the
state of Texas. It has Rice, it has North Texas
by the way, uh Arge, my rge Arge knocks, I
had the athletic director University of North Texas on this

(01:27):
morning from my alma mater, the Mean Green there. So
it's got it's got that preview in there. It has
the Sun Belt Conference preview in there, which has of
course Texas State in it. Sam Houston obviously is is
in Conference USA and they've got a preview with it
with SAM Houston and UTEP. So it's got all the

(01:51):
college football teams in the entire state of texasclusive, including
the FCS programs in the Southwestern Athletic Conference like Texas
Southern and Prairie View. It has the Division two lone
Star conference in there with schools like Angelo State and
UT Permium Basin and West Texas A and M and
Saul Ross and Midwestern State and Texas A and M Kingsville,

(02:13):
and has Division III like the you know, some of
the other programs like Southwestern University in Georgetown and McMurray
in Texas, Lutheran and Trinity. So anyway, they've got all
of these, all these previous and all the high school.
So every year we give away these magazines on the air,
and it's a nice little get. It's one of our

(02:36):
most popular things that we do every year is to
give away copies of Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine. It's
four hundred pages and linked. It previews everything really well.
And this year we've made it easier for you to
land a copy because you don't have to rely on
the randomness of being whatever the seventh caller, or the

(02:58):
fourth caller, or the thirteenth caller, the eleventh caller. You
can get one by participating, and this is how you
do it. If you there are many of you who
already listen to us on the iHeartRadio app. Good on you,
Good that you do that. If you don't, that is
the cleanest, clearest way obviously to listen to us is
on the iHeart Radio app. You download the app if

(03:19):
you don't already have it, download it onto your smartphone,
whether it's iPhone or Android, whatever it might be, and
you download it and then you'll see two buttons on it.
I'm first of all holding this up for people who
are watching us on YouTube. All right. So then you
pull up pay Them thirteen under the zone and there's
two buttons. There's a white one there and you push
that just to listen to us. There's a red button

(03:42):
there that has a white microphone on it. You push
that button and it activates what we call the talkback feature.
You leave us a message fifteen twenty twenty five seconds.
Don't go over thirty because it'll cut you off. But
in the fifteen twenty twenty five seconds, you leave us
a message. And in the case of this, you leave
us some message on what you look forward to reading

(04:03):
the most in the magazine. What do you really anticipate
reading about in Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine. Here's an
example of somebody who did take advantage. That's all you
have to do. By the way you leave us the message,
you get a copy of the magazine. Here's an example
of how this whole thing worked. Hello, Craig and Kim.
Big fan of the show was the Longhorns. I look

(04:28):
forward to the magazine and to look for the covers
of the long run Football. Thank you, all right? So
he liked the coverage long and front. That's how easy
he was that's it just leaves a voice message on
what you anticipate, what you look forward to out of
the magazine, and you'll get a copy of the magazine
while we have them. We've given away ten today. We're

(04:49):
giving away ten every day the rest of this week.
We did all last week and giving away a ten
and so that they're in different stores now. Distribution is
catching up now and there are different stores, so you
can go there and buy a copy. Certainly, you can
subscribe online to Texas Football dot com and get a copy,
or you can get one free. Just leave us a

(05:11):
message on the iHeart Radio app by well on AM
thirteen hundred the zone. You pull up AM thirteen under
the zone on the iHeartRadio app, hit that red talkback
button and then you leave us a message. It's really
and truly that simple to get that done. By the way,
if you just want to text the program, you have

(05:32):
a question that you like to ask or comment you
want to make, like many of you want to feel
free to do that. You can text us on the
text line. So what you do is you text the
word Texas follow by your question or comment to eight
one five three zero. So text the word Texas follow
by your question or comment to eight one five three zero.

(05:54):
Standard messaging and data rates may apply. We try to
help out. I know one of our really loyal listeners
is Ryan, who always lets us know that you know
he is sightless or he says, your totally blind friend, right,
and he's really wanting to meet Eric Nadell and the
voice of the Texas Rangers and Ryan. I'm not exactly

(06:17):
sure how that would work other than maybe contacting the
Rangers themselves on that, because I don't know Eric's schedule,
what games. Remember, he's kind of I don't know if
semi retired as the best way to describe it. He
has cut back on his broadcast schedule last year and
this year he took what he called a mental health
break and a break from the game, came back and

(06:40):
did the games. I think he came back in August,
did the games in August and September in the postseason,
including the Rangers World Series. Says a Hall of Famer
and a great guy. But I would suggest probably contacting
the Rangers for trying to get a hold of him
might be the best route to go on that, since
he's up in the Dallas Fort with metroplex, but we
try to answer all good questions. I noticed our good friend,

(07:02):
uh CB, the Twitter savant, he's been doing his own
countdown to kick off for Long one Football. So you
know how many days it is today, Cam to Long
one kickoff at Cedric Benson days it is. That's exactly right,
it's thirty two days, the late and immortal Cedric Benson.

(07:24):
It was an absolute joy to call all three of
his high school state championship games on television and then
every one of his runs as a college football player.
It was a it was a great deal of fun.
And Cedric was uh, it was a great guy too
too soon, yeah, yeah, And it was a really good guy.

(07:46):
And you know, he just he uh, he did his
own thing, and he was he was definitely his own guy.
But he was really, deep down inside, just a really good,
good person, a good guy. And I enjoyed my time
around him and visiting with him and getting to know
him over the years. He was a lot of fun
and he's definitely missed, there's no question about him. All right.

(08:09):
Coming up, we'll hear more from Loggorn football assistant coaches,
and we'll take a look at the baseball trade deadline
and see if any other late breaking news comes down
on the trade front. We'll do that when we continue
here on sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone and
the iHeartRadio app.
