Speaker 1 (00:00):
We begin this final hour of the program with some
Baseball first Ball updating you on the scoreboard about some
of the games that are going on. The two hottest
teams in all of baseball are winning again. That's the
Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Diego Padres are keeping the
pressure on the Los Angeles Dodgers in the West. The

(00:22):
Dodgers won eight of the last time, but they're still
only three and a half up. Both Arizona and San
Diego continue to play red hot baseball starting in late
July on into August. Diamondbacks lead the Rockies five to one.
That ball games in the bottom of the fourth, Padres
up four zip and the Pirates h's in the bottom
of the third. Now to the rest of the scoreboard,
Kansas City beat Minnesota's Afternoon four to one, so they

(00:45):
salvage won the game after dropping the first two games
of that series. Bobby Witt Junior yep another home run,
his twenty fourth of the season. So the Rangers begin
a series at home tomorrow night against the Twins and
Texas in some dire straits really needing to get something going.

(01:07):
They've dropped the first two games to Boston to play
the Red Sox again. Dane Dunning is pitching for Texas tonight,
ten or how for Boston. The Rangers are now ten
below five hundred and are struggling, and you're starting to
see the frustration kind of manifest itself. Bruce Bochy with
some real frustrating thing about Wyatt Langford being called out

(01:30):
on a pitch outside the zone and saying, I and
gotten a call all year long. I mean, and it
happens with rookies unfortunately, or second year guys even they don't.
They just don't get the calls that the veterans get.
So he was pretty upset about that. Meanwhile, the Astros
continue to be as red hot as they are, trying
to sweep out the Rays. Romelo Blanco is going to

(01:53):
go for them. That's late this afternoon. The'll plate in
Tampa and networ Saint Pete and then the Astros come
home after that. Cameron Parker to play the White Sox.
The White Sox are twenty nine to ninety two going

(02:13):
into their other game with.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
The Yankees tonight.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Speaking of the White Sox, our good friend Geene Watson
from the White Sox front office will join us on
Friday from Houston from minute May part with our weekly
baseball segment talking about the building of the pen of
races even through the dog days of August with the
wildcard races and also the division races. Tomorrow on the program,

(02:40):
Greg Tepper, managing editor of Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine,
will join us for the weekly segment. Among the topics, obviously,
we'll talk from college football, and we'll continue our statewide
high school football previews. We've done six A, five A,
four A, and three eight, which can only mean the
Class two A, the smallest eleven man classification is up next,

(03:01):
and we'll visit with him tomorrow on that. Okay, so
there's that's the check of the scores. Now, there's this
other story that I noticed it this morning and I
was like, is this real? Have you heard about this

(03:21):
deal with the Brewer's owner. Okay, here's the headline. Brewer's
owner Mark Atanasio accused of stealing sand from Malibu's broad Beach.
There's a lawsuit against the mcclaims. He's the billionaire owner
of the Brewers that he has been stealing sand from

(03:45):
broad Beach to Malibu and carrying it to his home
for his personal use on a construction project. Los Angeles
Times reported on this and that is next door neighbor
James Colberg, who's the son of Global investor Jerome Colbert,
claims that Atadasio has been using excavators on a public

(04:07):
natural resource, restricting public access to the beach while also
exposing local marine life to the potentially hazardous byproducts of
heavy machinery. Now, according to this lawsuit, Antonassio received permits
back in March to repair a damaged section of a

(04:28):
sea wall, but in June and then last month in July,
excavators allegedly, according to this lawsuit, began dragging sand from
the beach to Adanassio's private property, leaving gasoline residue in
the water and the sand in the process. This lawsuit

(04:49):
is also accusing Adanassio of public and private nuisance as
well as a violation of the California Coastal Act. Lawsuit says, quote,
this case is about a private property and they're using
a public beach as their own personal sandbox and the
disturbing conversion of a public natural resource i e. Sand
from broad Beach for a nearby homeowner's personal private use.

(05:14):
Now at an Ossio's attorney, Kenneth Thurleck, claims that his
client's company has acted in one hundred percent compliance with
all of its permits from the City of Malibu in
La County. At an Ossio originally bought his Broad Beach
home back in two thousand and seven for twenty three
million dollars. In case you're wondering about beachfront property there

(05:36):
in Malibu, that was seventeen years ago.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
That house cost him twenty three million.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Now you got this going on because you got the
neighbor next door not happy with your bulldozers out.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
There with your with your your your backo or your.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Your shovel, your steam shovel, saying you're stealing all the
sand from the beach at Malibu.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
I sorry story.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Yeah, most neighbors when they're upset either you know, they
go on next door, They go on Facebook and a
group they're the h away. But if you're a billionaire,
you just see them. But that's that's how it's works.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Just go after him. It's it's funny you mentioned next door, right,
are you involved with any of that? In and out?

Speaker 3 (06:21):
If I'm going to sell something, I'll post on next door, Okay,
but reading some of the threads on there, it's like, yeah,
I'm just gonna delete this.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
I'm glad you told me that I got this like
invitation to join it and stay off it, and I
haven't responded to it.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
So uh so it's like some sort.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
Of time it will be like posting a picture of
a kid at like eight pm.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Who is this? What is he doing? The kid?

Speaker 3 (06:54):
He's on the neighborhood, That's all it is. Or you know,
I've going through my yard, I mean, finally fighting pellets.
Whose dog is pooping it? It's all right, I just
wanted to sell my couch. I don't care enough about this,
so I had to leave it now. I'm sure there's
good things about it that let you know about people
who might be you know, breaking in or car jacking,

(07:16):
stuff like that. The neighborhood keep you alert, but a
lot of the time, a lot of the time, it's
just people who have way too much free time on
their hands.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
Just a little bit.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
We just yeah, wanting to see why you haven't mowed
your grass in the last stuff like six days or
something like that.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
Why does their grass look better than ours? You know,
what's wrong with that? You know, that that sort of thing.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
The best one I saw was this is probably during
the last election time, was someone was stealing election signs
out of someone's yard. That's gonna happen, especially with election
coming up, and so it was just back and forth
argument that just turned political. It was a huge It's
just like, yeah, just beware if you download it, Craig,
beware because the next election.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Is what November. Yeah, it's just around the corner.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
That's gonna it's gonna pop back up.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
So I want to make sure I understand this properly.
I'm so naive.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
If I ask why would someone steal an election sign
a candidate sign out of somebody these laraty. Is it
because they don't want that candidate to get the publicity,
promotion advertising and rather remove it, or do they want
the sign for themselves because they support that candidate. I
think it's it's the Yeah, they don't want they don't

(08:36):
want said candidate from whichever party it is, getting promotion
by having a sign.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
And somebody, well some people, because some have gotten so
used to signs being stolen though, uh, they'll kind of
uh Jimmy rigged the sign to where it might be
if a person goes up to try and steal it,
they'll get electrocuted.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
Really that on social media, so they electrify their sign.
I never knew this was a thing. Yeah, welcome to America.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
I never knew this was a thing. Wow, Okay, all right.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
I will also say, now you get a good lap
out of some of this stuff, I.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
Dare say, probably can't. Wow. That's something else. All right.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Coming up next, we're gonna hear more from Quinn you
Weres and also from Jade Bar and Longhorn football players.
We'll continue with that in some other football notes right
here on sports Radio AM thirteen
