Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to a Friday edition of the
program here on Sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
My name is Craig Way. Glad to have you with.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
Us here on this Friday. I always say it, and
I'll say it again. If Friday is indeed the final
day of the work week for you, good on you,
Good for you. Hope you're getting ready to relax and
enjoy the weekend. Stay cool and dry inside, probably because
it's going to be pretty hot out there, unless you're
like hanging out at the lake or something like that.

(00:28):
And for those of you for whom Friday is just
the middle of the work week or even the star
of the work week, hey, hope things go well for
you as you progress through your Friday. We do that
here on the Zone. Glad to have you with us.
Joined the we, of course, including the producer Cameron D.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Parker.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
The D on the birth certificate stands for Dallas as
in the name of the football team he so ardently
admired and rooted for, and says he will still want
them to win, just without his viewers ship.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
He does not plan to watch them, but are you
planning to watch them? Tomorrow? Night?

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Late tomorrow night at nine o'clock kickoff in Vegas against
the Raiders.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
No way, I'll be in dead, So late.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Nine o'clock on a Saturday night, that's too late for you.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
I'll probably be awake, but I will not be watching.
You will not be watching.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Okay, let's start.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Say, wait a minute, nine o'clock on a Saturday night
for a twenty six year old young man, what are
you talking about? You know, I also know that you
are not without friends, my friend, you have lots of friends,
both in the business and outside of the business. How
many friends would you say you have percentage wise in
the broadcast business versus your friends outside of the broadcast business.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Oh, I think most of them are outside of it.
My core friend group. None of them are I'll work with.
In fact, most of them aren't even really big sports fans.
They probably if they asked me about Texas, will ask
me about arch Manning. And I'm sure you have friends
like that. Do they ask you about Archie? Yeah, Archie,
I get that a lot. Archie Manning. But you know,
I've gotten to the point in my life where I've

(02:06):
begin begun to enjoy quiet nights, quiet Friday nights, or
Saturday nights where it's just doing absolutely nothing, maybe enjoying
movie and then go in the bed.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
You know, I've gotten to that point.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
I've often said, you kind of have an old soul
about you. Sometimes you have some old you know, habits
to go with the old the old soul routine because
kind of do that in our place from time to time.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
I am going to an art exhibit tomorrow, So really
that's I think I'm getting up there now, right. I
think I've kind of entered the new phase of my life.
Our exhibits on a Saturday. Where Now, where's this art exhibit?

Speaker 3 (02:44):
It's the Beyond exhibition?

Speaker 2 (02:46):
You know, it's kind of like the It's Money and
Van Go. It's the new kind of all immersive type
where they put up all their paintings and you know,
led boards and stuff like the floor in the walls
and the ceilings I believe are all just like paintings
for Monett or Van Go. Looks pretty fun, looks interesting.
Are you folks listening? Are you getting this? Are you

(03:08):
getting this?

Speaker 3 (03:09):
If you've been to it, let me know what it's like.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Is it at the Bullock? I do not know where
it's a oh Okay, do not know where it's that. Okay,
all right, Well, hey, I'm glad. I'm glad you've got
something to occupy your Saturday and part of the weekend
as well, even if the Cowboys are not a part
of that Tomorrow night. You have said that, even though

(03:32):
you plan not to watch.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Them on television in the regular season and even the
postseason unless they reach the NFC Championship, that you might
watch some of the preseason just to see how the
roster is put together. Correct, Yeah, and I did watch
a little bit of last week's game against the Rams. Okay,
so as late as the kickoff is tomorrow night, nine

(03:54):
o'clock on a Saturday night, you might still watch some
most probably highlights. I'll read it by the next morning. Okay,
I'll watch some Twitter highlights, see how you know, maybe
Andrew Booth or Jordan Phillips, maybe some Tree Lance stuff.
But I think we have a pretty good idea what
this team is going to be after one week and
in who's going to be the key players and who's

(04:16):
probably going to get cut after week three. So I
feel like most teams, and that's why we've talked about
the preseason going down from four games to three and
hopefully by next season down the two. Well yeah, okay,
all right, I'm just curious. Do you ever stay up
to watch like a Rangers West Coast game? If I
could get them on my TV, I would. It's blocked

(04:40):
out for me because.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
We don't have the whole valley of to TV.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
I got you fortunately, now, if they're playing on the
ESPN and stuff, yeah, yeah, for the most part. If
they were like on say MLB Network, playing like a
game in Seattle or Anaheim or Oakland, you would stay
up late for that.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
I mean in two weeks after eliminated Fro the playoff
on you know, maybe not so much because things got
even more ugly after that.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Last night I lost, But I would watch. I would watch.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Our our Fathers. Leader in Program director Terry Fox is
going to tomorrow night's game at Global Life Field to
see the Rangers play the Twins. And yeah, the twins.
What twins scored in the night? Last night?

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Rangers scored two in the first and did not after.
It's very similar to what has been plaguing the Dodgers late,
scoring early, but not often and certainly not late in games.
And so the twins got to win last night in
the play game tonight and they'll play tomorrow. So Terry's
going to the game tomorrow. And I sent him a
picture of the boomstick because my son Jason ate one. Now,

(05:46):
Terry said, did he eat that all by himself? I said,
nobody probably could have. He has an appetite that rivals yours, Cameron.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
And he and a friend devoured one. And if you
haven't seen that boomstick, you look it up. It's how
big is it? It's it's it is it like twenty
six inch or inch? Okay, so it's two feet all right,
it's two feet in length. The people behind us at
the All Star game, Oh yeah, that's right, they had one.

(06:13):
That's right, and you and they all.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Spelled it all over the floor.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
That's so big. Should hand the key word there is? People? Yeah,
it was more than one person was trying to do it.
Handle that thing, and it's got like overwhelmed. They were overwhelmed.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
It's bad.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
It probably should have been with chili and cheese and
onions and halapanias and all of that stuff on this
big old hot dog. And my son tells me it's
part of like this combo meal. Did you get it?
Like with a you can get it.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
It's a combo meal, like with a big pretzel and
then a big drink or something. The whole thing's like
thirty bucks or something.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
So you need a pretzel when you're already got twenty
four inches. Yeah, of hot dog, the devour right, Yeah,
the drink, I understand. Yeah, you need to wash it down. Yeah.
So I sent that to Terry so on you once
you knock down, knock back one of those.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
So he called me this morning he said, I wanted
to get the load down. I said, what is this?
And I said, it's a hot dog and it's a highway.
Let me tell you there's a lot of food there.
I said, I was just kidding. You don't really want
to try that. I don't think that would be good
for you to try to eat all that. I eat
a lot of junk food, as we've the tail on
this program, but I wouldn't even try that.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
I mean, it's enough every now and then if I
if if I'm really in the mood for it, I
go for one of those foot long Sonic chili cheese conies,
you know, And it's it's tough to get just through
a regular foot long. I had a foot log at
the Astros Dodgers game a few weeks ago, and all
I had on it was mustard cheese and onions mustard

(07:44):
cheese on it, and it was a foot long because
they do I've mentioned this before in my tour of
ballpark cuisine. Minute May Park has a good foot long
hot dog. It is good and I got through it,
but it wasn't easy. So see, the last hot dog
I had was when we went to the Rangers game
at the All Star Game. Excuse me, at the All

(08:05):
Star Game. That's the last time you had a hot dog.
I don't eat a lot of hot dogs.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
Yeah, well, I think the last time I had one was,
like I said, at Minute May Park.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
That's been a couple of weeks something like that.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
So anyway, we've got more to talk about justin hot dogs.
We're gonna hear from Longhorns Michael Taff Mookie as his
teammates know him, the Longhorn safety and Kelvin Banks preseason
All American. We'll hear from those guys throughout the course
of the program. We do have inconceivable. It is a Friday,
and you know what that means on a Friday, that

(08:38):
means well, as Cam likes to say, we do go
to the lowest of the lower forty eight states, the
most flacid of those, to reach for the low hanging fruit.
That reveals to us weekly installment of Florida Man, and
we have that as well. So we've got a lot
of things to get to on the program. If you'd
like to text us, feel free to do that. All

(08:59):
you have to do is text the word texas followed
by your questioner comment to eight one five to three zero.
