to have you with us on the program, Craig Way
alongside the producer Cam Parker. So we'll we'll continue with

(00:36):
we were hearing from Long Worn's head coach Steve Sarkisian's
a couple of other things I wanted to get to
in this hour, and then there'll be more sound from
him coming up next out. This is all from the
media availability this morning on campus following the team's practice,
and you'll hear between the first hour and what we've

(00:59):
brought you so far, what you're about to hear this hour,
and then more next hour. You'll hear all of it
during the end. Just a couple of reminders during the
course of the season. It'll be as it has always
been when I was at the station the first go
around from nineteen ninety seven through twenty sixteen, and then

(01:24):
was Crosstown for some six and a half years, and
since coming back last year, what we've always done is
bring you Sarks or the head football coach. I mean
this goes back to Mack Brown, bring you the head
coaches weekly press conference live usually at or around eleven AM.

(01:50):
Could be eleven, could be fifteen, eleven thirty. This year,
they're still nailing down the time on that, but we'll
we'll bring that to you live every Monday here on
Sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone, and then we'll
have highlights from it, responses from it during this program

(02:13):
starting at two o'clock here on the Zone. So those
things will continue as we have in the past. Our
Longhorn game day coverage will begin three hours prior to
kick So for the season opener twelve days off, there
will be the pregame show, the Long Orange Game Day

(02:38):
coming your way home games from the Winship Circle Air
Bevo Boulevard and Cameron Parker and Mike Hardball Harge and
Mark Henry will bring you the Long ornge game Day
program from there and they may be at an assorted
one and an assorted venue or depending on things on

(03:03):
the road for road games.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Maybe yeah, still working out are road schedule. Obviously, we
know Texas will be opening up their road slate and
arbor week two, but hopefully we'll be coming to you
from a soon to be known broadcast location where if
you're not making the trip with the team or going
as a fan, you can come join us watch our
pregame show and then hang out and watch the actual

(03:26):
game with us. I mean Week two, big noon kickoff.
It's going to be fun.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Yeah, And I've heard that the ticket for that is
really difficult to good luck, just as the ticket for
the Georgia game here is really difficult to come by
as well.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Two eighty three lowis France on SEAKIEK for Texas at Michigan.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
That's to get you in the big House, maybe at
the top of the upper deck and the end zone
or whether that's the get you into the big house.
To eighty three according to seat geek, okay.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Not as bad as getting into the Georgia game. Yeah,
that's three forty two okay, So that's to get you
in the building in the DKR right now. And then
if you want to go to Kyle Field, get over
five hundred dollars.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Wow, wow, high demand ticket for sure.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
I think three three of the most expensive tickets for
college football this season include the Texas actually maybe four
including Oklahoma, right.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Yeah, yeah, because it's weird how the Oklahoma game might
always be the most affordable of the four. Right of
the ones you've mentioned Michigan, Georgia, Texas, A, and m
and Ou.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Right now, cheapest tickets for OUs three forty six. Okay,
So yeah, so that's okay, that's all.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
That's all seat geek, all right, so right now, according
to seat geek, the most affordable one is Michigan is
two hundred and eighty three bucks. Yeah, but of course
plane ticket, the travel, you're your lodging might be your
travel expense will be more because you gotta find a
flight in you find a place to stay by the way.
I don't know if you've heard this. I've heard this

(05:17):
from a variety of people that it's and here's the
logic canvolve remember that the weekend of the Georgia game.
Oh what are you going with this? I think it's
also f one weekend, formula one weekend. And I've heard

(05:37):
that the gouged hotel prices are at an all time
high right now. And there are a great many Georgia
fans who might already have tickets or are planning to
get tickets or whatever. Who the ticket is one thing
that's challenging enough, try finding a hotel room right now

(06:00):
for that weekend with F one week because you've got
all the the F one fans coming in from out
of town. And I'd learned that pretty quickly when F
one first came in. I guess it's a little over
a decade ago. And I as you did, Cam. I
grew up in a state where racing men an awful
lot stock car racing, nascarh but a lot of the

(06:23):
venues you could drive to them. One day. You get
up in the morning and drive to North Wilkesboro, you
get up in the morning and drive to Rockingham or Charlotte.
You could do that for those, or Darlington. You could
do a lot of those destinations. It was only things
like Talladega and you know some of the other you
could even drive to Dover. I mean, you know, there's
just there's a lot of those where it was difficult

(06:46):
to to make the drive. But most of the places
you could drive to, so you didn't have to worry
as much about the hotel thing. But here with all
of the thousands, and they are thousands of Formula One,
fans from around the world who follow the sport, who
go see the race in Abu Dabi, who go see

(07:08):
the race at Silverstone, who go to the Belgian Grind Prix, uh,
you know, who go to all of these all of
these other ways, Brazil, Mexico, to all the places where
they have it. They're used to traveling internationally, and so
you have thousands of those folks coming in on the
same weekend of the Georgia game. So good luck with that.

(07:32):
It's going to be difficult.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
And that race was was scheduled before the Texas Georgia game,
was it was. It sounds like a lot of a
lot of Georgia fans will be staying in either Waco
or San Marcus.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
Well, I've heard that folks have had trouble finding hotel
rooms in San Antonio that weren't through the roof, and
Waco there's some staying as far away as Dallas so
College Station. I was told some folks were trying to
stay over there for that. So anyway, good luck with
all of that as you look for it. And I

(08:06):
think a lot of folks are looking forward to seeing
some really good football during that time. Well of course,
Steve Sarkisian is trying to put together a squad that
will play as such, and that includes the totality of
roster size. Remember it's eighty five scholarship one hundred and
five total. But with the new rules and the way
things are going to go with scholarship, the question was

(08:27):
put to sark is he trying to construct an eighty
five man roster or a one hundred and five man roster?

Speaker 3 (08:34):
Well, it's still we're still it's under discussion in our
building because you know, again there's as you look at
the potential numbers and what they look like. We still
have a current roster of players on our team now
as well. And you know, I again I was always
a proponent from day one that I didn't want walk
ons to go away. I think they serve a lot

(08:55):
of value in your locker room and on your team.
And so you know, what is that number look like
for us?

Speaker 4 (09:00):
If in fact it does settle and it's a hard
fast one oh five, does that mean we have to
have one hundred and five scholarship kids or can we
have ninety or ninety five and still have a space
and a place for walk on types or even partial scholarships.
So there's a lot of things.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
That are unknown for still, but yeah, does it a
lot of us, maybe a few more numbers, and maybe
does it always have to be a high school kid
or maybe those reportal spots that we can look into
and we can just focus on the twenty five high
school kids. So there's a lot of ways of doing it.
You know, we're trying to be really kind of diligent
in our approach of just looking at every angle. We're

(09:37):
really trying to tap into a lot of guys in
the NFL and how they manage it that way to
see what's best for us. And I'm sure everybody's going
to do it a little bit differently, and we just
want to make sure we do us.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Best for us. That's an example what I'm talking about
about having a various two media group who would ask
those types of questions. I know we've kind of joked about,
you know, how many more quin Yours leadership questions will
be asked during the whole thing, because there's been a
ton I think it's off the chart record, but some
of that because also keep in mind that several writers

(10:10):
are working on feature stories. A certain guy, so they're
wanting a little more in depth on that sort of thing.
We'll hear more from Sart coming up next hour. We'll
be back to wrap up Hour number two here on
Sports Radio AM thirteen under the zone of the iHeartRadio app.
