Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to the program here on Sports
Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
My name is Craig Way.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
Glad to have you with us, where you can always
reach us on the text line, also on our talkback feature,
and we're always glad to exchange with you.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
We of course includes the producer Cameron D. Parker. The
D on the birth certificate stands for.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Dallas, as in the Dallas Cowboys, his favorite NFL team
that he's fouled not to watch out of his frustration
of prior years, but he'll keep tabs on them anyway.
Did you play basketball last night? But it was a
Monday night? Did you hoop? I did not hoop in
Monday night, the night that you normally hoop. When you hoop.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Usually it is. But with football season approaching, kind of
have to substitute that time for prep work.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
There's a lot of work to do getting ready. There's
a lot of work to do.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
So this is another one of those little mile posts
that you see that you know you're closing in on
the start of football season. And we are eleven days
away from kickoff of the Texas Longhorns and just four
days away from the college football season overall getting underway,
because there's a handful of games on that zero week,

(01:11):
and we'll talk a little bit about those games, including
one thing that made our Inconceivable file for today. But
one of those mile posts is when you walk into
the radio station, as I did almost two hours ago.
I walked in and here in our regular on air

(01:35):
studios was Cameron Parker, Mike Hardball, Harg m Mark Henry
the World's Strongest Man. Of course, hERG and Henry bring
you the morning kickoff every morning seven am the nine
am here on Sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
They do an outstanding job with that.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
But the three were gathered there to record some special
announcements and promotional things and stuff like that in advance
of are Long Orange Game Day programming from Bevo Boulevard
at the Winship Circle, the season premiere of that program

(02:16):
and at the newly minted and titled program Long Orange
Game Day will come your way Saturday, August thirty, first
day of course of the season open or three hours
prior to kick so that means it will be at
eleven thirty am when it starts, when those three guys
will be down there.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
So are you.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
I know, you guys don't do like the network TV
fellas who do play by play and go out and
they actually do rehearsal games. There's nothing like that. But
there's enough give and take with you guys when you're
sitting around and chatting about things to where you're doing
your prep for this coming season.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Am I correct about that?

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Of course.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Yeah. We've had a handful of kind of preliminary meetings
getting ready for this season show. It's gonna be a
lot of fun new broadcast location. For those of you
who have come and visited us on Bevo Boulevard in
years past, we are in a different spot. We are
going to be in the hook them hangout next to
Big Bertha and all the food trucks, so kind of
towards the entrance of when the players walk through. Of course,

(03:18):
we used to be on that corner next to where
the old Longhorn Network broadcast used to be. So different area,
but excited for a location will be near food trucks
and Big Bertha, which you know, I don't won't be
able to really partake in that, but maybe maybe my
cards or Mark Henry. I know Marc Henry is very
pumped about the food trucks. Yea, hopefully we can maybe

(03:40):
work some stuff out get some food over to us.
But it's gonna be a really fun show. I'm gonna
have a lot of fun guests on a course weekly insiders,
and hopefully some Longhorned legends also will be joining us
as we'll get you ready for every game before sending
it to yours truly. Craig Way and Roger Wilson will
Matthews up in the Network broadcast booth.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Well, uh so for those who will if you're still
trying to gather a mental picture of that, remember where
Big beerth that is, and the food trucks and the
wind Chip circle is just up the street from it. Right,
is that the Lost Dodds Way? Yeah, right there on
the corner, right, the Lost Odds in San Jack. Yep,
right there on that corner. So we used to we

(04:24):
used to be it was in the corner of San
Jack and basically Trinity down. Yeah, so a little bit.
We're a little bit north, yeah, other north north. But
but your food and beardge.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Yeah yeah, so come out, you know, get a get
a pint, maybe a lobster roll, and uh listen to
us talk Texas.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Do they really have a truck?

Speaker 3 (04:47):
I don't know what their offerings are they I think
they change it because they have the one with the
fancy hot dogs.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
They can wrap the hot dog very good.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
I don't know, because well, we've always never been near
the food trucks by the time our show end. This
time the up to the press box or to our seats.
So I'm looking forward to seeing what food trucks that'll
be cooler.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Yeah, so look to look forward to that.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
Eleven or Vermonts Taylor days away from Texas football returning.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Hey we're major Apple White days Okay, Yeah, Hey, we're
Sam Hellinger days away. You know eleven that we're Derek
Johnson days away. That's Ricky Williams his first two seasons,
who wore number eleven as a freshman and sophomore. So
we're eleven days away from kickoffs. So we're pretty excited

(05:33):
about that. Uh, speaking of long warm football coming up
in a few minutes. I don't know if you got
a chance to hear the conversation yesterday, and we brought
you the sound from Steve Sarkisian's media availability. Sark had
an availability after practice and we brought you. Every bit
of that sound was just you know, brought to you

(05:54):
in the Q and a form as we brought you
the questions that and so that's what aired yesterday and
also yesterday morning. And I don't know if if you
heard it, maybe you missed it if you were, you know,
at work or asleep or just doing something else. But

(06:16):
Sark was also on with Dan Patrick here yesterday morning
on sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone. We're and
and and of course, when a national sports personality like
Dan Patrick interviews a Texas coach, like in this case Sark,
the questions might be a bit different. Like for example,

(06:38):
when we were bringing you the sound from that media
availability yesterday was it was a lot of specificity in it.
You know, the running back room, the uh you know,
what's going on with the wide receivers, you know, might
you look into the portal to bolster depth and running
down you know, there's a lot more of the specific

(07:01):
nuts and bolts things of that. It's more of a
broad based overview. There's some specific questions and a broad
based overview of the program of Texas headed into the
SEC and Sark himself, So we're going to bring you
that conversation coming up here in just a few minutes,
we have Inconceivable. Now here's the thing with today's Inconceivable.

(07:28):
I have several items like I always do every day
for Inconceivable, and they're all good items, and we we'll
bring all those items to you. I had planned initially
to there's a term in our business warehouse those items,
in other words, hold them until tomorrow. And the reason

(07:53):
why I was going to do that is because I
was sent the link to a different kind of story
this morning, and I would have had it not been
sent to me, I would have discovered it anyway. And
you'll understand why when I tell you about this. But
the story is so extraordinary and it's tied directly to baseball,

(08:20):
and I decided we should just because it takes a
while to explain this and to go through this, but
when you hear all the details, it's rather fascinating. So
I'm going to do that in the three o'clock hour,
and I'll give you more details about this thing when
we get closer to it. But it's a story worth

(08:40):
hearing because it's really unique. It's incredibly rare. Like I said,
it would have fit into inconceivable, because the very idea
of what happens in this thing is rather inconceivable. However,
it deserves its own kind of standalone poor of the program,

(09:00):
So we're gonna.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
Do that next hour. All right.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
Up next, we're gonna hear from Long Worn's head coach,
Steve Sarkeshan. We'll also hear a little later on. We're
gonna hear from one of the long worn football players
because they had a media availability, and we'll bring you
more of that tomorrow, some of those things, but you'll
hear from one of those long worn players later on
in the program as well. But sorry, from the Dan

(09:24):
Patrick Show is up next when we continue on sports
Radio AM thirteen under the Zone in the iHeartRadio app.
