Inconceivable, as always, on today's show. And a few guests will stop by including Roger Wallace and Patrick "Wheels" Smith to talk about the upcoming football season. Speaker 1 (00:00):
Get afternoon. Everybody, welcome to the program on sports Radio

(00:02):
AM thirteen hundred The Zone. My name is Craig Gway.
Thank you very much for joining us. And it is
the first full weekend of college football. I know there
was a zero week last week it produced an upset
of a top ten team. But the first big explosive
week actually begins tonight. Their college football games tonight. There

(00:22):
are high school football games tonight as the Texas high
school football season gets underway as well, joined as always
by the producer Cameron D. Parker. The D on the
birth certificate stands for Dallas and named after all in
honor the middle name for his favorite football team, which
he is about not to view this season unless they

(00:44):
reach the NFC Championship game. But they become quite the
curiosity of late. The Ceedee Lamb contract getting done, the
signing of Dalvin Cook to go to the practice squad,
and now all the conversation and arguments have been seeing
on television the last two days have centered around Dak

(01:07):
Prescott and will they get a deal done and does
he feel disenchanted and disrespected? Now, not so much because
the CD Lamb deal was done, but that there's still
been no real movement on his contract status, none of
which supplies or surprises Cameron Parker whatsoever.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
I don't think any Cowboys fans are really surprised by
how this has played out now. Of course, on the
other hand, you have San Francisco, who is now resorting
to fighting Brandon Aiyuk for every day he missed his practice.
You got Jamar Chase showing up the practice fifteen minutes
late in street close a day after Zack Taylor said
he'd be ready for Week one. Still no Trent Williams.
A lot going on, So it is not just the Cowboys. Now.

(01:52):
I give Jerry in the front I was a lot
of crap, but hey, I mean the forty nine ers
have been one of the most well run franchises the
last couple of years with and a head coach and
John Lynch, and they're having issues with the Cincinnati You know,
they're in the Super Bowl three four years ago that
lost to your Los Angeles Rams, and they can't lock
down their receiver number one. So it's it's how the NFL.

(02:12):
It's the battle continues between NFL owners who just don't
want to play. Pay these pay these players. What they
want to get paid. It's a it's you know, it's
a battle as old as time, as old as the
when the NFL was first created. So we'll see what
happens here. Now to the point about Dak's contract, saw

(02:32):
a little bit of Cedielamb's contract details and how it's
been structured. It's very back heavy. It's backloaded the way
that it was kind of work together, which a lot
of people think that the Cowboys have it backloaded so
they can pay Dak Prescott now now, well get to
that point, you hope. So, but it seems like this

(02:52):
is going to be a situation where where Dak eventually
probably signs during the season because he's not holding out.
If he was holding out, it'd be much different story.
And honestly, if he really wanted to get paid, he
probably would hold out. But it kind of goes back
to I think he's going to get his money no
matter what happens this season if he hits the free
agency market. There's a report yesterday, I think from the
Athletic that if he does become a free agent, he

(03:14):
will get sixty million dollars from a team. And I've
been saying that all summer long.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Yeah, and he's just continued to try to be the
right kind of teammate to get ready for this coming season.
Fortunately for all of us, those of us who are
also pans the National Football League, we have another week
before it starts, so maybe some of that stuff gets
sorted out. But college football does begin tonight. High school

(03:40):
football does begin tonight. There's some games tonight, there are
a couple of games tomorrow, and then, of course the
main thrust of everything comes down on Saturday, including that
of the Texas Longhorns their season opener at home against
the Colorado State Rams, a game that of course will
have way right here on Sports Medio AM thirteen hundred
the Zone as well as our big sister station not

(04:01):
A eight point one FMKTT and our pregame coverage of long
Orange Game Day begins on Saturday. I should say this
with an asterisk, so I will, or some poke some
folks say, incorrectly pronounce an asterisk an asterisk. Uh say
that asterisk. There are people I know that say asterisk. Yeah, yeah,

(04:25):
I'll say this with an asterisk. The plan is still
for you guys to be down on Bevi Boulevard right
in the hook of hangout, right, I mean that's that's
that's the plan, right, That's that's where you guys are now.
The reason why I say plan, we know there's somewhere
right now between a forty and fifty chance of rain.

(04:46):
Some weresome out. So if you guys are out there
in it, it doesn't do well with electronics to be
out in it, so you might slide inside if that
is the case.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Correct. We are closely monitoring the wetter models. As you say,
the weather models are not all agreeing, right, take a shot,
they won't agree. But yeah, of course we're going to
be a Bevo Boulevard for all home games, weather permitting.
We're going to be a new spot this season, so
for yours to coming out and listen to the pregame show,

(05:15):
we're in a different spot this year. We're and hook
them hangout, which is at the winship circle. The best
will describe it. We're next to Big Bertha in the
food trucks. You come out, you get something to drink,
you get something to eat, and then you listen to me,
my car J and Mark Henry kind of get you
guys ready before sending it up to the network. Where
Craig Way and Roger Wallace and well Matthews will have
the call. But yes, weather permitting is the right way

(05:38):
of putting it. It looks like, you know, we're kind
of in that forty chance of rain and the big
issue which could affect the football game, Craig, not so
much rain, but the chance of lightning and thunderstorm.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Last night, when we were recording the season premiere of
Long Worn Weekly with coach Sark, he was talking about
he said, you know, we've been working outside and training
in this heat one hundred degree plus for the better
part of a month, and now we're hearing it might
be around ninety in rain. He said, but we'll take
that if we have to take that, So we'll we'll see.
So the game obviously is on Saturday. Coming up here

(06:13):
in a few minutes, we're gonna hear from Sarki. Sark
does a Thursday media availability. Of course, Monday is the
main press conference, and then that's in our Longhorns Monday,
our Long Horn Monday presentation. Tuesday is our Texas Tuesday
Presentation where we hear from Texas Long Worn players. We

(06:34):
also talk Texas high school football with Greg Temper Managing
editor Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine. You know, we'll talk
about a lot of things germane to the state of
Texas and football on Tuesday. On Wednesdays, we hear is
kind of a unique thing hearing Sark on the SEC
Coaches teleconference that was yesterday and then today you're this

(07:00):
was just from this morning from the media available, and
then on Friday a little bit of a recap of
Longhorn Weekly because we recorded the program last night, as
we will on Wednesdays. The show airs on Thursdays. Normally
it'll be at seven o'clock in the evening. Today this
week it'll be five five o'clock this afternoon, so you

(07:24):
can hear it on your way home, if you're driving
home or whatever. The reason for that being, we have
around Rock Express Baseball for you tonight at six fifty,
so it'll be at five o'clock this afternoon for Longhorn
Weekly with Coach Sark, and we hear a portion of
that on Friday, the matchup segment with the opposing team,
So we have that so we hear from Sark virtually

(07:46):
every day on this radio station as they get ready
for the season opening we're going to hear from him
coming up here in just a few minutes. Also, this
hour of Inconceivable, as we always do, keep you updated
on a couple of things. There's some day baseball to
update you on, and we'll do that. And then also

(08:07):
I've asked Cameron to keep an eye on the FedEx
Cup because the Tour Championship is this weekend. It is
the final event of the FedEx Cup. And we know
that Scottie Scheffler was beginning with the what do you
call it, the slotted two shotgg staggers the stagger's court,

(08:28):
so he begins with a two shot lead, starting it
at minus ten uh. There, So we'll keep you updated
on that. This afternoon three o'clock hour A little bit
different thing for you. In the three o'clock hour, we
get a lot of questions both on our text line
and we always welcome those. All you have to do

(08:48):
is text the word Texas follow by your question or
comment to eight one five three zero uh and you
can ask us a question. Standard messaging and data rates
may apply, but we get a lot of questions about
nil and someone who is well versed in what's going
on with that and can help you decipher some of

(09:10):
that for you. Is Patrick Smith. You may know him
as Wheels as he's known around campus. There are a lot
of folks, so we'll visit with Wheels coming up within
three o'clock hour to talk about that. At three forty
we have our first day DJC WAW injury update with
regard to Long Worn football that's come up with that,
and then the four o'clock well, here's some more from Sart,

(09:32):
but also we're gonna hear from Rodney Terry, the long
Worn men's basketball coach, had a media availability, just kind
of an update on where things stand and how they are,
and we'll hear from RT in the four o'clock hour.
So we have all of that and more coming up,
so we invite you to stay with us. It's going
to be a busy Thursday afternoon right here on Sports
Radio AM thirteen under the Zone, where you always listen
to us for free on the iHeartRadio app.
