Speaker 1 (00:00):
Craig Way with you on the road today up in
the Dallas Forth Metroplex with a football game to call
for television tonight, and then the High School Scoreboard Live show,
and then back down obviously to Austin for tomorrow's season
opener for the Texas Longhorns. Is they all take on
the Colorado State Rams. Cameron Parker of course in the

(00:23):
studio as well. All right, break down for me, Cam,
what you watched last night and if you could put
a percentage on what you watched, you know, in terms
of I'm assuming you watched quite a bit of football,
but put it in percentage what you watched of which

(00:46):
games and levels of football that you watched last night.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
So it began with Howard first Rutgers yesterday. That kicked
off at six pm. So we wrapped up our show
yesterday and all doing the post show stuff and getting
ready for or today and tomorrow. Got to watch Little
Rutgers Howard. That was fun. And then by the time
I got home, all the seven o'clock games were kicking off,
so I had to put on Colorado in North Dakota State.

(01:14):
That was a fun game, a fun first half where
Colorado was down early Travis Hunter was making plays and
then eventually Colorado in the second half, the defense limited
North Dakota State I think just around about one hundred
yards after getting diced up in the first half. Travis
Hunter three touchdowns. I think he's my sneaky Heisman picked

(01:35):
this season, and then at the same time was following
along with UN seed Minnesota. Most of the other games
were kind of out of hand pretty early on. I
mean Arkansas in Arkansas Pine Bluff, I mean, maybe they
should think about not playing that game at least for
a couple of years, because that was ugly, very very

(01:55):
very quickly. So in most of the other games too,
or we're out of hand for the moment part except
for UNC Minnesota, as we talked about in the first
hour of the show. Of course, Max Johnson just a
really tough injury that was just awful to see the
former Texan and and Maggie he's actually a native North Carolina,
North Carolinian. His dat of course, Brad Johnson super Bowl

(02:17):
winning quarterback, and u NC they had the better field
goal kicker, Minnesota did not, ends up costing the Golden
Gophers and one to o season. So those are the
three games that I watched the most. Yesterday and following
along you were texting me updates about Westlake Prosper. I
was following along the Taco Shack Ball as well, Anderson
knocking off McCollum.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Yeah, I watched all of that stuff you mentioned, but
I also watched a good portion of Westlake prosper when
it was still in doubt, as Westlake had some special
teams difficulties in the first half, missed the field goal,
had an extra point blocked. They were down fourteen thirteen
of that half, but took command in the second half.

(02:58):
Really did their defense, played by better in their offense,
got it in gear after that, and then they won.
And I was watching Taco Shack Bowl as well, Anderson
sprinted out to that huge lead. I ended up coming
back to watch a lot of that game down the
stretch because the game took forever. Yeah, it was three
and a half hours long, and that's that's long for

(03:19):
a high school football game, folks. But watching Roger Wallas
and Keith Moreland navigate that and yes, I was flipping
back and forth and saw, you know, all the big
plays that happened in the North Carolina Minnesota game, as well.
I did also watch some of Colorado and North Dakota State.
I watched a little bit of North Carolina State in

(03:40):
Western Carolina. Oh yes, it's yeah, because that was a
game for a while. Yeah, the Catamounts hung out. My
brother was getting all excited. My second oldest brother went
to Western and so he was pretty pumped up about that.
And they were in the game for a while. I
caught a glimpse of Illinois Eastern Illinois, and that thing
got out of hand pretty quickly. I called a glimpse

(04:00):
of Missouri and Murray State, but that was out of
hand very quickly. And then I watched baseball too. I
did watch the Dodgers Orioles uh, and we'll talk to
baseball next hour with Gene Watson. The Dodgers had fourteen
hits in the game. None none from Shoe a Otani
in the games. That was interesting enough, but everybody didn't

(04:22):
quickly add it. But he got all of his last night,
he got the homer, he got the two stolen bases,
so on and sub where he had his dog throughout
the first pitch. So I watched some of that. I
watched some of the Mets. Mets Diamondbacks late in the afternoon.
That's a big series this weekend, Los Angeles at Arizona,
and what a huge game. And I watched a little
bit of the Astros and the Royals, and the Astros

(04:45):
took the opener. And this is a huge series this
weekend for both the Astros and the Royals. In the
baseball sitting again, a little over an hour from now,
we'll visit with Gene Watson to talk some Major League
baseball as well.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Any of Jackson State First Louisiana Monroe.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
No, I didn't, and I should have. You know, that's
the ESPN Plus telecast. But I have that, and I
should have watched it. That's in the future opponent category.
Did you see the of that?

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Well, I guess I forgot because there's been you know,
a million, you know, transfers. Of course, now with the
transfer portal, the starting quarterback for the Warhawks, General Booty.
In General Booty, we'll be bringing his booty to Austin,
Texas in a few weeks. Excited for that matchup. You know,
it's funny you mentioned that when we were I think

(05:39):
right after we got back from SEC media days, I
was asked to be on the podcast, and I said
I would for a gentleman in Memphis and I and
I have some good friends in Memphis, Brett Nor's Worthy
uh and my real good friend Dave will who is

(06:00):
the voice of the Memphis Tigers. Dave and I worked
together at KRLD back in the eighties and we've remained
good friends over the years. But this was a different
gentleman and asked if I would appear on this podcast,
and I said that I would, And so I was
on it, and there was a writer also on it.
It was like it was a zoom podcast, and there

(06:22):
were four of us, the host, myself, there was a
writer and the athletic director of U L.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Monroe. Because I think there's a you know, long standing
relationship between the host and that gentleman as well. And
he was when he and I were talking answer Boy,
he told me how much he was looking forward to
come into Austin for the game and enjoyed coming the
last time, you know, to Texas won handily. He said
he always enjoyed the trip to Austin was looking forward

(06:53):
to coming back. And then he added, and get ready
for some booty. Excuse me, general Booty will be the
god that's right. General Booty will be the quarterback for that.
So that will be on September twenty first, it'll be
three weeks from tomorrow. There's a little more football that

(07:17):
takes place prior to that, however, you know the week
before that, it'll be UTSA. The week before that, obviously
the trip to Michigan. The week before that is tomorrow
with the season opener against the Colorado State Rams, So
that'll be That'll be going on sorright. So you guys,
cam will be setting up down there on Beava Boulevard,

(07:39):
weather permitting. They're in the wind Chip Circle. And then
when the when your Longhorn's Game day program ends, that's
one hour prior to kick off. I take it because
you're a credential member of the media, you'll come up
to the press box, right am, I right about.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
That, I think. So still figuring out what my duties
will be during the game. I know post game will
be down with my fellow media members getting some post
game audio with starking the players. But this is year
year four of having season tickets with my dad. Now
I don't get to sit in my seats at all,
but I think because we did not sell our tickets.

(08:16):
I might for the first quarter, go down, you know,
sit with him a little father son tradition, little bonding
session real quick, and then I'll find myself back up
in the press. Bot, did you.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
Say your dad was busting one of the high school
teams last night?

Speaker 2 (08:30):
I thought he was busting Westlake, his his his company
was and then they're also busting Kincaid. I don't know
where he's at today. I do know he's going to Fayettfield,
North Carolina for a work trip this next week. But yeah,
usually either Westlake or Earlake, Travis there there's always some
my school football stuff around there. You go, all right,

(08:51):
all right?

Speaker 1 (08:51):
Coming up next, we're gonna hear from some long worn
football players. We'll hear from Jaydon Blue, the Longhorns running
back and also linebacker Anthony Hill. Will do that one,
and we continue on sports Radio AM thirteen under the
Zone and the iHeartRadio app.
