Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good afternoon, everybody. We're getting to the end of the
summer wind and then on to the autumn wind. I
lost you to the summer. And for those of you
who are traveling in ann Arbor, Michigan, the autumn wind,

(00:21):
you'll be able to feel that autumn wind because the
high temperature is going to be sixty degrees. It's going
to be about forty eight forty nine kickoff on Saturday.
So as the chairman of the board and saying I
losched you to the summer win. But the autumn wind

(00:42):
has rolled in, and between the start of the NFL
season and the Logorns playing in true autumn conditions, we
know football season in all of its glory is a
right good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to the program here on

(01:06):
Sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone. My name is
Craig Way. Glad to have you alongside. Please be joined
once again by the producer of this here little radio program.
He's Cameron D. Parker. The D on the birth certificate
stands for Dallas, as in the pro football team for
which his middle name derives, and while it is his

(01:27):
favorite team, he has vowed not to watch them this
Sunday in the season opener against the Cleveland Brown says
he probably won't watch them unless they reach the NFC Championship.
So the D might stand for what defense this weekend
against the Michigan Wolverines. Might that work?

Speaker 2 (01:43):
It's going to be a lot of defense on Saturday
at the Big House, especially against one of the best
defensive lines maybe still in the country at the Graham
duo for Michigan on the front line in the Texas secondary,
which looked very good against Colorado State at one point
in that third quarter. Craig I tweeted out arch Many
had more passing yards than Colorado State at one point

(02:04):
in that third quarter. It's going to be a blast,
and you take off very early tomorrow morning, right, yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
It'll be before it's sunlight here. Roger Wallas and Will
Matthews and I will make our way to the broadcast
crew up there to Michigan. Speaking of Roger Walls, he'll
join us in the three o'clock hour preview of their
KBV Big Game of the Week high school telecast and
also preview of what to expect in terms of their
long worn coverage in the KXA and SLASH Next Star

(02:35):
family of stations. Throughout the course of the weekend, so
we'll do that. Coming up in a few minutes, we'll
hear from long wrn's head coach Steve Sarkisian. He has
that final local media availability every Thursday, and that's a
zoom on the media, and we'll hear some comments from
that from Sark, So that'll be coming your way in

(02:59):
the next sect, and also we'll hear some more from
him in the ensuing hours as well, so that that
is coming up additionally. Additionally, we'll take a look at
tonight's game on the National Football League schedule, as well
as college football, high school football. There's plenty to discuss.
We do have inconceivable this hour. We'll get to that

(03:22):
as well, and so there's a lot to discuss now
before we get onto the break and then and then
to Sark afterwards. Safe to say, you're pretty pumped up
about the start of the NFL season, even though as
a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan you have sworn off watching

(03:44):
them at least for the time being. But are you
fired up about to start of the NFL season as
a whole? Oh? Very fired up.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
I think this might be the most I've been fired
up for the NFL in quite some time. I mean,
you have the Chiefs looking for a three p ad
an Xavier Worthy excited about him at a Marquise Brown.
You have the Bengals who played your Rams in the
Super Bowl a few years ago, who just have not
been healthy. But Joe Burrow returns. Can they get Jamar
Chase back on the field he practiced yesterday. The Ravens,

(04:14):
who reached the AFC title game this past season, played
the Chiefs tonight, came up short. Can Lamar Jackson finally
get over that hump? And then, of course you still
have the Bills. The Jets come back with Aaron Rodgers.
What will Aaron Rodgers look like post acl He's forty
years old as the quarterback. We just have not seen
that much except for Tom Brady. They have the Chargers
with Jim Harrball. So many good storylines out of the

(04:36):
AFC and the NFC. The forty nine Ers, once again
under Kyle Shanahan make it to the Super Bowl. A
lot of people argue they should have won that game.
What would they do with another year of rock? Pretty?
Will it be?

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Maybe a year from hell?

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Because they've already had holdouts and you know, there's always
those injury concerns with McCaffrey and everyone else on the team.
Young and upcoming teams like the Packers Detroit lions of
people love the Packers and the lines. This year Eagles
outed Kellen Moore as our offensive coordinator, a new system
for Jalen Hurts, one of a great young quarterback. You
have the Cowboys who are just doing their own thing

(05:11):
in a different universe, I mean, and then the Falcons
they had Kirk Cousins, they got Bjon Robinson and Drake London,
Kyle Pitts.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
I mean, there's so many.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
And of course Los Angeles Rams, thank you, who if healthy?
I think are my sleeper team in the Nfcson actually
Jordan Whittington, Yeah, out there and then offense. So super
excited to your point about not watching the Cowboys all
season long. I saw my uncle last night and he
was like, now, there's there's no way you're gonna watch
the Cowboys play this year.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
I'm like, no, I'm not.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
You're lying. You're gonna watch them play on Hey, he
asked me what time the game is on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
I don't even know. Craig.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
I'm proud to say I do not know what's on
the Cowboys playing because I will not be watching.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Okay, I believe you. I believe you're you're planning the
whole true to your vow. Here's where it's going to
cause you the most trouble is, it's gonna be a deal.
We're the only game on is the Cowboys game, whether
it's an early window or the late window, the only
game on. I think now you have red zone right of.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Red zone, so I'm going to see Cowboys plays on
the redire Right, You're just not.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Making an appointment television to watch the game telecast. You're
watching red Zone, so they're gonna They're gonna kick to it.
You can't avoid that, of course, but you're just saying
you're not making an appointment TV to sit down and
actually watch them watch the full telecast. Correct. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
My usual setup is two TVs in living room, one
dedicated to the Cowboys, the other one dedicated to the
red Zone. Okay, Or if they're playing on a Thursday
night or Friday night now or Saturday or a Sunday
night or a Monday night, when it's the only game,
I'm not gonna dedicate my four hours to watching that game.
I'm not gonna sit down like I have in years
past and be gluted the TV and enduring more pain

(06:58):
this season.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
That's my Lynda and I were talking about your I'm
not going to use the word predicament, your proclamation or
what you want to do, and she had an idea.
She said, you know, Cameron works very hard. He said,
you two guys work really hard doing what you do
during the week. She said, my suggestion would be, for example,
the Cowboys kick off at three twenty five against the
Browns on Sunday. She said, my suggestion would be that Kim,

(07:22):
you know, red zone it up one side and down
the other in the early windows, watch whatever games he's
had had. And in this case, to speak to what
you're saying, have a game on in the early window,
Falcon Steelers is the is the early Fox window. So
we get BJA and so so watch that or checkin's on,
she said, And then when you get to three o'clock,

(07:45):
take a nap. Tell them just like a nap up
to about six thirty and then he got and then
he's up in time for Sunday night football and he's
he's ready to go. That's her suggestion.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Hey, my congregation mets at three thirty on Sunday, So
that's a perfect time because when you watch the Cowboys,
you do need to find Jesus after them after they play,
So that would be very helpful.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
You can pray for their pray for their their their
welfare during Okay, okay, okay. So uh, the game to
night will be the Chiefs and the Ravens. We'll we'll
talk about that, and we'll talk about other NFL actions. Uh,
some baseball mentioned as well. So there's a lot to

(08:25):
get to on the program this afternoon. Glad to have
you with us. Up next, we hear from Long Worts
head coach Steve Sarcassian when we continue on sports Radio
AM thirteen under the zone of the iHeart Radio app.
