Speaker 1 (00:00):
Standing outside the Big House.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Joining us right now from On Texas Football my good
friend CJ Fogel. You can find him on Twitter at
Cjfocal Underscore OTF. He is a college football insider in
recruiting analyst for On Texas Football representing House. So you
can see the Big m if you're watching us on
our live stream on AM thirteen of the Zone.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
CJ.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
First up, give us the recap of your travel day,
because by by your Twitter play by play, it sounds
like you had one heck of an experience.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
So, I've lived in Texas my whole life. I've never
flown out of Houston, and unfortunately I had to make
the decision to fly out of Houston to get up
to an arbor for the game tomorrow. I didn't realize
there were two big airports. I didn't realize the one
with a nation in the name was not Hobby. So
I went to Hobby about four, probably three forty five
in the morning, flight left at five.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Realized very soon thereafter I was at the wrong airport.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
Had to book it up there to George Bush somehow
some way before the fight left determinable.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Man, what a disaster of the morning I'll tell you that.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Yeah, I think that the I A H stands for
it was a international airport Houston, right, Is that the correct?

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Uh? That makes sense?

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Wait now you know for the next time Texas goes
to the Big House.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
I've got a lot of reports, CJ.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
From friends and who's been in Detroit, who've been in obviously,
and they've seen a lot of burn orange. Craig was
talking about it on his flight, was mostly burn orange.
You seen a lot of burno orange out there in
ann Arbor.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
It was packed in Houston in the airport coming up
to Detroit. It was packed in Detroit. Whenever I was
waiting for the bags. It's been packed. Walking around campus,
there's a lot of orange. I know that Michigan wants
to do the maze out tomorrow, so they I think
their plan.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Is some of that yellow hide some of that orange
so it doesn't bleed.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
Out as much as it would and some of that
dark blue that they got going on.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Yeah, that burn orange would stick out next to that
blue from Michigan. Hey, let's get into the game, uh, CJ.
I think the two biggest things that will decide this
for me is the battle in the trenches and the
explosive plays.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
What about you?

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (02:05):
Absolutely, you know, and I hate to make it sound
that simple, but where does Michigan's explosivity comes come from?
You know, it's Colston Lovelin and then who the wide
receivers didn't have much to show for against Presno State.
I know that playbook wasn't open all that much, but hey,
Davis one didn't look like he was all that accurate
down the field, only one of five on passes beyond
ten yards, including an interception. So if you take away

(02:28):
Colston Lovelan, where can Michigan be to if it's not
the run game that bodes well for the Lone.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Wars if they get up early in that game.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
So I agree with you under so I just can
control that line of scrimmage defensively. All of a sudden,
a big question mark lowis for Michigan in terms of
how they moved to the football and CJ.

Speaker 5 (02:46):
We've talked a little bit about this week, the idea
that Michigan might run two quarterbacks out there.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
How realistic do you think that is?

Speaker 4 (02:54):
I do think that they're gonna have some sort of
package for this, right, you know, maybe Sneak and Alex
Orgy on the field with Davis Warren as an outside
wide receiver. Again, this is a guy that with the
ball in his hands, he's very dynamic. You know, he's
not a great passer. He's never quite been a great passer.
You know, there's a lot of coaches in the DMW
area when he was a quarterback coming out, I thought, hey,
maybe he as a wide receiver, maybe as a stafeties

(03:15):
where you're going to be long term. You'd be a great,
you know player at those positions because you're so athletic. Obviously,
Michigan had him on the field for nine plays, five
of them direct rush attempts out of the quarterback spot.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
So I think it's realistic. They're gonna come with some sort.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
Of twist or stunts or something that you haven't seen
before on film to make Texas second guess what they've
got going on game plan Lise, But they're going to
need him to throw the football and be accurate to
beat Texas.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
To mom see you're looking at the Texas run game.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Did you see enough from last week with Jared Gibson
and Trey Weisner and Jayden Blue that makes you feel
more confident about the Texas rushing attack going into Michigan.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
Fortunately for Texas, right, you returned four out to five
from a year going the offensive line. They've gone up
against Byron Murphy devongers that all year. I know that
Mason Graham Kenneth Grant or amongst the two best interior
defensive linemen the entire country. This group has had similar
battles like this in spring and fall, and obviously you
know all sorts of practices leading up the last year
and tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
I did see enough between the tackles that was the
big question.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
Ken Texas run between its tackles efficient without a CJ.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Baxter. I thought Jared.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Kison looked good. He ran hardy, ran decisive. That to
me is exactly what you want to see out of
a guy making his college debut. Can you get enough
out of Jayden Blue and Trey Wiser that's not necessarily
some of those gimmick outside zone schemes and quick throws.
I think so, But that's another question that Texas wills
approve tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Michigan features one of the best quarterbacks in all of
college football, Will Johnson. He wears number two after Charles Woodson,
but replacing a lot of guys in the secondary. They
lost Rod More to an ACL in the spring, their
other safety, Soob transferred to Alabama. But we hear a
lot about this Michigan secondary. But do you think Sark
can attack this Michigan secondary like he attacked Alabama's last year?

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (05:03):
I do, And I say that because Fresno State did right.
They had twelve passes beyond ten yards.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
A week ago. They compete to eight.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
If you're completing sixty seven percent of your passes beyond
ten yards, something's going pretty pretty well for you offensively.
And I know the big question is will you have
enough time to defend Queen or as well? Presno State
had a pretty solid showing on their offensive line. They're
a good team. They're a better team than Colorado State.
But Texas is a better team than both of them.
So I expect the Longhorns to have a solid offensive

(05:31):
line performance. And there's just so many weapons that Texas
can deploy at a given moment offensively, how do you
defend all of them? Michigan has one Will Thompson, Texas
has a lot of playmakers that can can beat them
in other ways.

Speaker 5 (05:43):
I was going to piggyback off of that Alabama game
last year. We talked to Sark earlier this week about
like the experience that these guys have, like forty of
them went to Tuscaloosa last year to beat Alabama. How
much or how important do you think that's going to
be guys who have already aced the test early in
the season.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
Yeah, I do think there is value in that, and
especially in some of the big positions that those guys
return on.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Right.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
I mentioned the offensive line, quinn Ewers comes back. You
have Anthony Hill in a big time role now as
kind of the focal leader on that team, as the
communicator with the green dot. You know, they are a
number of key leaders back John A, Barren, barn isureel Ethanberger,
the guys that played very instrumental roles and now have
big leadership voices on this team. They know what it's
like to have gone on the road early in the

(06:26):
year and got a big marquee win, and this is
no different.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
See j before we let you go, give us your
prediction for Demorl's game.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
Oh boy, I've been thirty one thirteen Texas all week.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
I just don't know.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
Al Michigan moves the ball offensively. If Texas sells out
to start the run, Davis Warren's not a quarterback that
can beat you. We've known that to be the case
his entire college career. Right, it's no secret that it's
taken him five years to become a starting quarterback. You
watched the screen game, he looked at right, he didn't
look great. You watch the Fresno State game, Look all right,
he didn't look great against Texas. Why am I to

(07:02):
believe that all of a sudden he's going to make
a massive jump. If that running game with Donovan Edwards
is still averaging two point seven yards per Carrie and
it's Kalo Mullings that carries the load, I think Texas
has too much scoring opportunities, too many paths to victory.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Longhorns win and they win big.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
It makes sense. CJ.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
What's your plan for the day out? Exploring in arbor
with the time you have left? Or are you staying busy?

Speaker 4 (07:23):
Well, I'm gonna go check out this campus. Man, it's
beautiful weather. I got the long sleeve on right now. Yeah,
I'm liking what I'm saying for Michigan right now. It's
pretty beautiful up here.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Hey, enjoy it, Enjoy the game tomorrow. Thanks for coming
on and save travels back to Austin.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
Thank you, fellas, thanks for having me on.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
He is from Hondya. Don't want to do that.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
CJ Fogo from On Texas Football, college football insider and
recruiting analysts for On Texas Football.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
Follow him on Twitter.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
CJ Fogo Underscore Underscore otf on Texas Football doing a
great job that He actually just got off a live
stream on their YouTube channel with Bobby Burton and Rod
Babers and Jerry Hamilton doing a lot of work this
weekend as Texas prepares for Michigan Andrew.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
I mean.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Listening to that, I think as a Texas fan, you
feel even more confident going into the Marrow.

Speaker 5 (08:15):
Thirty one seventeen. I don't know about all that. I
had a ten point game. I didn't have it that big.
I think my prediction I also have. I think it's
Texas thirty seventeen.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
The way Michigan plays football, it's going to be tough
for it to become a blowout. And even if you
tell me it's a seven point game in the fourth quarter,
I think that's fine. I mean, they're a football team
that likes to drain the clock out. They like to
grind you down. I mean they were in the like
one hundred and twentieth in snaps per game this past season.

(08:46):
I think they right on the same average against Presido
State last week. You know, they're not a very up
temple team. It will be interesting to see if Sarkin
Texas can make Michigan play up tempo on defense.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
I'll say this as.

Speaker 5 (08:59):
A leader in the clubhouse when it comes to quin
yours propaganda. I think that a Quinn youwers breakout game.
We're talking multiple touchdowns, We're talking about hundreds of yards,
kind of similar to what Joe Burrow did when he
came to austin twenty nineteen. This is the first domino
I need to fall if I want Quinn to win
a Heisman, and I think it's gonna happen this weekend.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
I mean, we saw it against Alabama last year at
Brian Dennys Stadium.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
I mean, big game Quinn.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
There's a reason why people call him that, and mean,
look at how he played against Oklahoma the first time.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Awesome that he's awesome, that you call it that big
game Quinn. He's a big game hunter.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Oklahoma forty nine nothing did the same thing against Alabama
this past year. Men, he had two of the best
passes I've ever seen a Texas quarterback throw won the
eighty Mitchell and one to Xavier Worthy.

Speaker 5 (09:41):
Those are two you should write headlines. We should get
you at the newspaper right and headlines big game, Quinn.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
I don't think I coined big game Quinn. I think
that was coined by somebody after after the Alabama game
this past season. But hey, to your point, if yours
has a similar type game that he had against Alabama
against Michigan, I think Texas wins this game, you're gonna
You've already number three in the poll. You might be

(10:07):
number two, and at that point, Quinn, yours is probably
the prohibitive Heisman favorite. But we'll get more into Texas
Michigan talk throughout the show. Update on Craigway. This is,
after all, the Craigway Show. He is currently I believe
he may have just walked by CJ at the Big House.
They are setting up the Texas Radio broadcast booth in

(10:28):
an arbor right now, so hopefully around an hour or so,
we will have Craig Way joining us, hopefully get Roger
Wallace with us, Gene Watson as well. But up next
it's a Friday. It's also inconceivable in Friday on inconceivable
means one thing, Florida Man. That's right, Andrew Zimmel has

(10:49):
got us up next year, as the Creigway Show continues,
KNA fire me up Friday,
