Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the program here on Sports Radio AM thirteen
hundred The Zone. My name is Craig Way. Glad to
have you with us alongside and as always, always very
pleased to be joined by the producer of this program,
Cameron D.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Parker.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
The D on the birth certificate stands for Dallas, as
in his favorite pro football team that of his father
as well, hence the middle name Dallas. Although Cameron consists
to stubbornly maintain his vigilance that he will not watch
the Dallas Cowboys live live on television this year unlesson

(00:39):
until they reach the NFC Championship Game. How weird is
that going to be for you? If they reach the
NFC Championship Game to actually have to tune into a
game live they want?

Speaker 2 (00:48):
They want? You're so dowry?

Speaker 1 (00:52):
What about dat?

Speaker 2 (00:53):
You are so down? No chance they reached the NFC
Championship game, There is no way.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
But I'm right about this. You want them to reach it? Right?

Speaker 2 (01:06):
That's a good question. I mean, Jerry Jones and Steven
Jones in this front office and the coaching they have
made it so unenjoyable to watch Cowboys football and be
a fan over my fan in the last what ten
to fifteen years that I don't know if I could
fully enjoy a Super Bowl because of all the crap
Cowboy fans have to deal with listening to Jerry and

(01:30):
Steven Jones. I mean, honestly, I think I would like
it for Dak Prescott and MICHAEH. Parsons, Michael Parsons and
Ceedee Lamb and all those guys, to Marcus Lawrence, Trevon Diggs,
all the guys who were stuck around with the Cowboys
for so long, but the front office. I mean, if
the Cowboys won the Super Bowl this year, I mean,
can you imagine the crap Jerry Jones is gonna say

(01:54):
like that in itself would make it so hard to
enjoy Super Bowl? And all we're just getting the hypotheticals here.
What if Cowboys are not going to then FC title Game?
I sound like Steven A. Smith, but it's just I
just don't think it's happening. It's not gonna happen. Boy,
You just I have a feeling you're gonna have a

(02:17):
hard time just thinking about rooting for them if they.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Get on the cusp of this, and that defeats the
entire purpose of what you're supposed to do, right. I mean,
you are a Cowboy fan, right, so are apathetic cowboy? Okay?
All right? So to your point, does that mean that
you're gonna, like, you know, on purpose, root against them.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
No. But the whole reasoning for why I said I
would not watch the Cowboys game this season was because I,
like other Cowboy fans, have have bought into the crap
that Jerry and Stephen Jones have been selling. Now, hey,
we're not gonna spend a lot of money on this team.
We're gonna win with development and all this, and that
we have the right pieces and we're all in. And
then you play Green Bay in the playoffs, or you

(03:11):
play San Francisco and you get your butts kicked, and
all of a sudden, those twelve thirteen games won the
regular season, they just don't matter at all. None of
it matters if you can't win in the postseason. I mean,
what's the quote that I think, what's from Tony Romo
where your legacy is defined by how you play in
the postseason, And so far Dak Prescott's and the Cowboys

(03:35):
legacy in the postseason has been pretty bad. The last
twenty twenty five years.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
That's fair, I understand that. But this is a new
team and a new time. You're going to continue to
make the Cowboys pay for the sins of the past, yes, right, Yes,
as long as Jerry is in control, okay, and as
long as Mike McCarthy's the coach.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Right yeah, and then you know, you know, maybe we
get Bill Belichick in twenty twenty six to Lincoln Riley.
But we'll see, we'll see, Okay. So there's a reason
why Mike McCarthy was fired from Green Bay despite having
maybe the most talented quarterback of all time. It's interesting
you bring him up because we've got something we do
on that or we want to hear from him. Also, also,

(04:17):
we're going to hear from Longhorn's head coach, Steve Sarkisian
from his weekly Thursday media availability. Remember, as we pointed out,
sark makes himself available several times during the course of
the week. That starts on Monday with his news conference,

(04:39):
which as part of our long worn's Monday coverage we
bring you live every Monday here on sports Radio AM
thirteen under the Zone.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
We begin our coverage at eleven, and the press conference
comes your way at eleven thirty, so there's that. Then
on Tuesday or Texas Tuesdays, we hear from Long Worn
players and this week we all also got a chance
to visit with the head coach of the UTSA Roadrunners,
Jeff Trayler. Wednesday is the SEC Teleconference day where we

(05:10):
hear from Sark on the SEC Teleconference and then of
course we record Long Worn Weekly with Coach Sark from
Pluckers the West Campus location in Austin on Wednesday evenings
from six to seven. We did so last night, had
a great time. Fizzy Whitaker, the lifetime Long Worn was
our special guest. So we do that on Wednesdays and

(05:32):
then the program airs on Thursdays normally Thursday evenings, but
this week five o'clock. In other words, it's going to
follow this show. It'll come your way at five o'clock
this afternoon, so get ready for that. So that'll come
your way at five o'clock this afternoon immediately. That's because

(05:52):
we have Round Rock Express baseball Ball for you at seven,
So it'll follow this show at five o'clock. Log Worn
Weekly with Coach and then on Thursdays he also does
a media Zoom Media Availabile. It's his final visit of
the week with the medium and he does that via zoom.

(06:15):
So we have that and we're going to bring you
comments from that throughout the course of the program this
afternoon in each hour. Also coming up, we do have
inconceivable later this hour we're going to give you an
opportunity to enter for a chance to win tickets to
see five Finger Death Punch. So we'll do that. That'll

(06:37):
be I'll tell you right now. That'll be in the
three o'clock hour. You have your opportunity there. In the
four o'clock hour, we're due to visit with Roger Wallace
from k x AN. That's his day job, the sports
director there. But of course Roger is on our broadcast,
my broadcast partner in the booth with me along with
Will Matthews down on the sideline on our long Warn

(06:57):
Radio Network football broadcast from Learfield. So Will join us.
We'll talk some Logorn football. I think I'm gonna ask
him also because I started thinking about this this morning,
and it is in a very impressive to an oh

(07:19):
start for Texas. Maybe there hasn't been a great many
quote unquote surprises when they were expected to be good
and they've been good. Maybe it's surprised some folks the
way they throttled Michigan up an an arm or other
folks say they're not and more of a statement about Michigan.

(07:42):
But that's the way fandom can work as well.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
I get that.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
But if there's a player who has surprised you on
the offensive side or the defensive side who might have
be do you do you have anybody offhand who has
surprised you? Because I know who and I'll reveal it
when we have Roger on the four o'clock hour, But
is there a player that surprised you on the offensive
and or defensive side for the football?

Speaker 2 (08:09):
I don't know if surprise is the right word. But
there's two freshmen that come to mind, Ryan Wingo and
Jack Gibson, and then also Gunner Helm because he looks
like a different player this year. He looks so much
quicker and more athletic. And you know there could be injuries.
I think he's lost a little weight or maybe replace
some weight with some muscle. But he looked incredible. I mean,

(08:30):
think about that the touchdown he had against Colorado State
where he bounced off to the Vender and then he
broke multiple tackles against Michigan. Awesome to see him grow
in this role without j T. Sanders on the team.
And then of course Gibson and Ryan Winko. I mean,
we knew they were going to be their five star,
four star athletes. We knew they're going to be good,
but will they be ready to play week one? Because
some four stars and five stars aren't ready. In Wingo

(08:51):
has been super impressive. I mean, he led the team
in rushing against Michigan last week off of that Xaviruary
style jet sweep. And then Jared Gibson, He's been fun
to watch. He does not go down easily, loves run
between the tackles, and is going to have a very
very successful season in Texas.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
Okay, all right, we'll see who Roger has kind of
picked out. I'll tell you mine coming up in the
four o'clock hour. Up next, we're gonna hear from coach Sark.
Also some more college football realignment news to come your
way when we continue on a Thursday afternoon here on
sports Radio AM thirteen under the zone of the iHeartRadio app.
