Speaker 1 (00:00):
Craig Way with you alongside the producer Cameron Parker coming
up in a few minutes, we'll talk baseball with Geene
Watson from the Chicago White Sox. We do our weekly
baseball update and Pennant Race update. We'll get his thoughts.
You spent a lot of time around my team, around
the Dodgers, but we'll get his thoughts on the Rangers
and the Astros, Kumar Rocker, the review on that the

(00:21):
other Pennant races like we do every week. So we'll
do that with Gino coming up in a few minutes.
Other than Cameron Parker, other than tomorrow's game between Texas
and UTSA, which, of course, you know you have a
central part in our broadcast day since you're quarterbacking the

(00:44):
Longhorns Game Day show from down at Bevo Boulevard and
the hook them hangout, you and my cardball Hard and
Mark Henry. Other than setting the scene for that, what
college football game are you most looking forward to seeing

(01:06):
or keeping up with this weekend?

Speaker 2 (01:08):
It's going to be a really fun weekend, Craig. There's
not a lot of like maybe top twenty five matchups
between a pair of top twenty five teams, But there
is one Boston College and Missouri a pair of undefeated teams.
Bill O'Brien at BC member they led that upset Faketree
over Florida State. Now we don't really know how good
Florida State is. They just maybe maybe bad and that

(01:29):
win will not look as good as it did early
on in the season, but still his first year a
big win. They're Missouri's ranked number six? Are they the
third best team in the SEC? The fourth best team?
Gonna find out. But besides that game, obviously you have
game Day at LSU South Carolina. But how about Big
Newton kickoff in Madison for Alabama in Wisconsin. Now the

(01:51):
spread is Alabama minus sixteen. But Craig, that was a
one score game in the fourth quarter between Alabama in
South Florida a week ago. So Labama with Jaylen Milrow,
you know they have had their issues. Will that game
be a little bit closer than people think? And then
Oregon Oregon State, Oregon was losing to Boise State in
the fourth quarter last week, able to come back and

(02:12):
win that game. And I don't think many people were
watching it because it was on at like midnight. But
Oregon's offensive line has had some issues. Their offense is
still fun to watch, but o Lina's issues, their defense
isn't as solid. Could Oregon State maybe pull off an
upset in Corfallas. So a lot of fun games. You
have Georgia in Kentucky, and Kentucky lost last week to

(02:34):
South Carolina, but they always seem to give Georgia a
little bit of a fet and it's early on. So
a lot of fun games. And of course tonight, by
the way, Arizona in Kansas State in a Big Twelve meeting.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Yeah, in fact, both Kansas teams are playing tonight. Kansas
is hosting UNLV and I say hosting. Remember what Kansas
is doing this year, David Booth, Kansas Memorial STATEUM is
unavailable this year. They've got renovations going on. So they're
playing I think it's two home games at Arrowhead and

(03:11):
the rest of their home games are at.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
I can't remember the name of the state where they
play their games.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
It's their stadium. It's where Sporting KC plays and so
it's the soccer statement. It's nice. You and I saw
it when we were up there from Big Tel Basketball tournament.
It's nice it's kind of like Q two and so
it's it's a nice facility and everything, but that's where
Kansas is playing UNLV, so they're playing that tonight. And then,
like you said, Kansas stay Arizona. That's that's an intriguing

(03:41):
one to watch number twenty against number fourteen, So I'm
kind of curious to see how that one rolls out.
You mentioned LSU South Carolina, and yeah, I found it
interesting that game day would be there. But see, here's
the thing. CAM ESPN is never I don't think they have.

(04:04):
In fact, I know they never have and will continue
to never be at a place more than one week
in a row of a game that they are not televising.
So last week they were in Anna Arbor. It was
a no brainer to be there for Texas Michigan. But
they were not going to go to Wisconsin for Alabama Wisconsin.

(04:26):
That's big noon kickoff, so they're not going to be there.
They're going to pick another game. Well, LSU South Carolina
is intriguing, if only because South Carolina's surprised some folks
with their winover Kentucky. So now we find out more
about Shane Beemer's ball club as they play, and I
think we'll find out a little more about LSU, you know,
because we didn't. You know, you didn't find out that

(04:48):
much about them last week with the non conference after
the loss to USC.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
I would have gone to Columbia and that's an SEC.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Now they are in Columbia, the other Columbia.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
That is true.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Yeah, they are in Columbia. I would have gone to
Columbia Missouri. I guess I should clarify that in the
top twenty five game Missouri playoff team. Perhaps Boston College
making some noise in the ACC, why.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
Not go there?

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Maybe they didn't want to overload on BC since they've
already been the Dublin that's true. It maybe I don't know,
and I can't remember last time they've been in Columbia
South Carolina before, if they I would imagine they've been there,
but in Gabbert maybe Yeah, yeah, you know when Columbia Missouri.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
I'm saying, I can't remember South Carolina. That's a good question.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Yeah, it may may have been a while for that.
I'm with you on all of those games in And
how weird that the Civil War Oregon Oregon State is
being played this early in the season because it's It's
always been the last game of the year, but now
it's a non conference. Now maybe there's some new life

(05:52):
for the Pac twelve since they're adding those four schools
and looking to add two more to get it back
up to eight so they can remain NCAA slash College
Football Playoff viable and eligible. They have to have the
membership at eight by the time they get to twenty
twenty six twenty twenty seven. So they've added Colorado State,
Boise State, Fresno State. Who am I leaving out or no,

(06:17):
who am I leaving out? I'm leaving out one one.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
Of the one of the West teams, one of the Mountain.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
West teams, Colorado State, Boise State.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Gosh, they're all states, right. Then they add Fresno.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
State, Fresno State, and then there's one more, San Diego State,
San Diego State. There we go, thank you, like we said,
and you said, if they if they added say San
Jose State, yeah, and what was the Utah state? Utah
Utah state, they should they should change their name to
the state eight yeah or something like that. I don't know,
but anyway, I am kind of curios about it. I want

(06:53):
to see how Texas A and M responds, I mean,
they won over McNeice last week, but you know, we
go down to They'll go down to gain a Meanin's
felling and how does Florida respond to that?

Speaker 2 (07:02):
And apparently some injury questions about Connor Wigban yep, the quarterback.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
Yep. It's kind of up in the air for him.
So we'll see about that. And then there's one other
game on my personal radar. And there's a reason I'm
wearing my North Texas Mean Green coaches polo today as
a tip of the cap and a nod to my
alma mater. They go to Lubbock, they play Texas Tech.

(07:26):
In case you're wondering North Texas has won in Lubbock.
Before it goes back to the nineties, I want to
say roughly ninety four. That's when my good friend George Dunham,
who succeeded me as the radio analyst on North Texas
back in the day, back in the late eighties and
then became the play by play voice when Bill Mercer retired.
That's when they upset Texas Tech that night, and George

(07:47):
had that immortal cry do you believe in the Mean Green?
And that's kind of stuck through the year. So George
has since retired, he's not doing it. But Dave Barnett,
the Great Dave Barnett is the voice of the Mean Green.
He and Hank Dickinson will be out there calling that game.
North Texas at Texas Tech and Tech coming off just
being humbled a bit, really just smacked around in the

(08:12):
polue by Washington State. So that was that was rather
surprising to some folks.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
And you know that.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
And then of course they barely survived the game of
that plan Christian. So we'll see, well, we'll see if
North Texas come and North Texas is two and oh,
and they've looked pretty good in being too and O,
but this will clearly be their best test to this
point in the season, So we'll see how all of
that goes. Oklahoma is hosting Tulane as as far as

(08:43):
other SEC schools go. Oh and in addition to the
Oregon Oregon State Civil War, you got the Apple Cup
this week you have Washington State. Washington again a byproduct
of the implosion or blowing out of the Big twelve
of the of the Pac twelve. So Washington Washington State

(09:04):
are playing in that game's in Seattle, and we'll see
by the way, in case you're wondering, that's a Peacock telecast.
That's Peacock. If you're trying to keep up with all
that other thing. Yeah, the Backyard Bross week. Yeah what
Pittsburgh that's going on this week. And you have Utah
on Utah State. So you have all of these older
traditional rivalries that are being renewed because of realignment college football,

(09:29):
collegiate realignment, and because of that, it's for some of
those matchups that you normally see at the end of
the year Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, Utaw Utah State.
When you see that they're in different conferences anyway and
have been so so that one, but those other two
are ones that you've seen at the end of the
year and they're going to be moved up.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
It reminds me of college station playing consolidated in week four.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
Or or since you're from Charlotte, how about Charlotte hosting
Gardner Webb card Web's just a few miles. Westerns are
over there and Boiling Springs right are they d one
their fcfcs And Charlotte gave Matt Ground's North Carolina Tarti
Hills a fight for a while last week before the
tar Heels pulled away, But they were they were in
that for a while.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
What's is there a headge coach's name Biff or something?

Speaker 1 (10:17):
Yeah, yeah it is.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
That's right. It's not Pogy. Yeah, it's not football name.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
Yeah. That's even better than Bif Tanning from Back to
the Future.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
There, all right.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Coming up next, we're gonna visit with Gene Watson from
Chicago White Sox to talk some baseball here on Sports
Radio AM thirteen hundred the Zone in the iHeartRadio app.
