Speaker 1 (00:00):
We continue here on this Tuesday afternoon. Thanks again to
Greg Tech Pervantage together at every Dave Campbells Texas Football
Magazine joining us on the program. Let's go back to
some Longhorn conversation and our man Will Matthews, our sideline
reporter on a Longhorn or Radio network from lear Field
Football Broadcast Lifetime Loghorn sitting down with a guy who's

(00:20):
made an impact early sophomore linebacker Anthony Hill Junior.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Talk about how you are seeing the ball, how you're
seeing anything, and your comfortability on the field. It's just
been growing. It seems great.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
I'll say just thank you to Cause Nanson for kind
of helping you. Just like in I'll say thank you
to Cause Nansen for just helping me get better and
just see certain things and giving me better tips and keys.
And then then last year, my freshman year, I was
kind of kind of still learning what's going on. So
I would just say thank you to him, and then
some of my preparations just get better this.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Year when you're going in to learn and continue your
preparation as you're going is it a visual thing or
is it an experienced thing, or just kind of all
that together I'll say it's a it's a big experience thing,
like when you see a certain certain play a million times,
like you know it's coming, like boom, this is it
right here?

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Like kind of I'll give an example, like that screen
on I think it was right before half. It was
always was if the running back. If the running back
comes across the field, they don't run jet opposite, it's
always jet. So if he comes across as always a
screen And I had caused the holding on that play.
So just little stuff like that. The game within the game,
this kind of helps you get better throughout the season.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
And being young, being a sophomore, having the player as
a freshman, and having such a leadership role in the team.
How's it been infusing yourself into this defense.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
It's been pretty good. I kind of I kind of
just roll with the punches. I don't try to just
be the big bag leader. I just be myself every
day and just continue to grow and get better.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
And you say, like being yourself, I know there's a
process as a as a player is like really finding
what that self is. If you could categorize your game
and your personality and who you are in like a
couple of sentences. What would that be.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
I'll say I'm the more un serious person on the team.
I always try to be losing, loosing, Just try to
help some of the young guys and help people kind
of not be up tight before games and show that
you can just beat yourself all the time. You don't
got to be just the toughest, toughest God, just beat
yourself all the time, and just somebody that helps connect
the team and just continue to grow.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Well.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
One last one. I think this is very fitting because
you you seem very jovial, very excited. Yeah, very cool.
Tell me about tell me about this culture. It seems fun.
I mean it seems like you guys are having a
good time.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
Yeah, we're kind of like, i'll say, a tight knit group.
Like I play the game with ty Anthony, and we
play the game with each other a lot. We go
out the linebackers go out to dinner every week, and
just little stuff to just kind of make sure we're
standing up to me, we actually each other, how our
parents are doing, how's this going. So just being able
to be so close with somebody that you can know
how their family doing. So I had to talk to

(03:00):
him now, If you don't know somebody family or where
they came from. You know, you can't talk to them
a certain way. So just being able to know what
they're from, what they've been through to so you know
when they talk to them at certain times when not
to it. So I feel that it has to be
part of the culture. Yep, thank you for your time,
no problem.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
You know, that's a pretty mature response for a sophomore.
They're talking about but understanding somebody's culture, where they came from,
what they're dealing with, what they what their background has
been like. Almost had a kind of an NFL film,
NFL feeling to it, NFL team feeling to it. Yeah,
every week the linebackers go all go out to dinner thing.

(03:38):
I guess in the day and age of nil, you
can do that. You know, they definitely have the opportunity.
Next hour, we're gonna hear from three different offensive players
are running back, a tight end, and a wide receiver.
That's coming up next hour. We'll be back to wrap
up this hour here on Sports Radio AM thirteen under
the Zone and the I Heard Radio app
