Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, let's hear for some uh more loghorns, and
that's I want to start off with a wide receiver
DeAndre More who caught his first touchdown pass on Saturday,
it looked like he caught his first one in the
Michigan game that was wiped out for penalty.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
That our Will Matthew said that with DeAndre.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Moore tuning in and thank you so much, really appreciate it.
Today we have a special treat. DeAndre Moore is with
us to chelt life, sports football, all the good stuff
right right starting off, I just I heard a story
that you took on the personality of another wide receiver,

(00:38):
not just some of the attributes that that he took
on it if Texas loves this guy, the world is
loving this guy right now. What about what about Whittington?
You saw and you you like, I want to I
want to take that on.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
Jordan was selfless. He was a really big team guy.
And we had the saying on like every wall in
the building that says we not meet. And you know
just that it goes to show like putting the team
before yourself. And you know with that you're gonna you're
gonna eat too. But you know, the team comes before oneself.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
In a world where the portal is so rampant, you know,
there's money in the game and everybody can go wherever
they want to go. Why is it so important to
have a dispensation that is not just high but it's weak.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Where did that come from? Really? My upbringing, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
I'm a really big family guy, so you know, just
the football family aspect of it. I want to see
everybody win, and you know, as a team, I want
us to do good things because I've seen all the
work that these guys have put in, So you know
that that's really where it comes from.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
It seems like this selfless thing is just something inside
of the team that you guys are just gravitating towards.
But Saturday, you got that rock and you put it
in the end zone. How did that feel?

Speaker 2 (01:50):
It was exhilarating, just really hearing the crowd.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
Here's like it's one thing that you know hear when
somebody else scores, but when you score, it's like wow.
But you know, I just really had a a great
opportunity arts do a great pass and you know I
made something shake with it.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
So and even going through that just like kind of
walking into the end zone, hearing the crowd, hearing all
of that.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Taking that.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
I know that has built up your confidence. So tell
me about what you're seeing for yourself over these coming weeks.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
There's a lot of time and a lot of time
to play. Continue to do what I'm doing, and that's
working every single day.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
I don't really, you know, know how much or how
many I'm gonna get, but I'm gonna go out there
and play as hard as i can and that's all.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
I can do. You heard it here, guys, deandreymore. Thank
you for you Tim for.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Sure, appreciation, Yeah, a healthy attitude about it. Understanding that
it's a pretty full room, a wide receiver room, and
yet there seems to be enough to go around for
everybody when you look at the numbers and the number
of passes caught, the number of different guys catching passes
and catching touchdown passes. So that's pretty impressive stuff. On

(02:51):
the text line, we had a couple of the things.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
One was.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Texas. It said was the two thousand and eight game
at the Sun Bowl. When we're talking about the Texas
U Tap game. Was that the game where the couple
were having.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Fun on the hill. Yes, it was. I almost brought
that up and I was like, no, wait a second,
on the hill. You don't know about this deal?

Speaker 5 (03:23):
No, because I'm guess seeing that game was televised on
the ESPN.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
It was it was ESPN and.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
It kicked off about nine o'clock at night.

Speaker 5 (03:34):
And maybe don't google in the work computer.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Yeah, probably good idea. You know, when when when there's
a game at U TAP, there are people who sit
in the stands, obviously, then there are people who don't
sit in the stands. They sit on the neighboring hill
sides because they have a pretty good view of the stadium.

(04:00):
I don't have to buy a ticket that way. Anybody
who saw that game understands there was one point. I
could be wrong about this, but I already told and
retold and at the moment when it happened, obviously I
did not know this. I was calling the football game
an ESPN. I don't know if they were going to

(04:22):
a commercial or if they were just scanning the crowd.
And a lot of times it's a.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Really coming they were coming back from commercial. They were
coming back from commercial.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
So you're seeing it now, yes, yeah, you know a
lot of times when you come back from commercial, they're
they're showing landscape shots, and in El Paso they like
to show the mountains out there because you've got the
Franklin Mountains. It's beautiful out there and all that surrounding
that stadium that's dug into the hillside. It's a very

(04:52):
scenic view, by the way, it really is. But there
was a couple sitting on one of the hillside that
and again it's been years since I've even seen it.
You're you're looking at it on your laptop.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Now.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
They are looking at the game, aren't they kind of,
But it's not so much what they're looking at. It's
if I remember correctly, it's her hand placement. That's the yes,
that's correct subject question there.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
The craziest part, Craig, is, whoever is the ESPN analyst
on the telestrader draws a circle around it?

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Now that I didn't know.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
I didn't see that, and apparently I don't have the
volume on.

Speaker 5 (05:36):
I'm just reading the comments, but apparently the analyst says,
looks like they're having fun. I wonder who it was,
and I wonder if they were immediately pulled off the broadcast.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
You can't say that now. I mean it's two thousand
and eight ESPN.

Speaker 5 (05:52):
I don't know a different time. But that's hilarious.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Well, and it could also be that the analyst didn't
realize exactly, didn't look closely enough, and just thought it
was a couple sitting together.

Speaker 5 (06:04):
Anyway, if you want to YouTube, title is digging for
Gold on a mountain side?

Speaker 2 (06:11):
Oh boy? Really?

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Okay, okay, So anyway, Yes, that to answer the Texters question, Yes,
that was that game.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Yes, it was.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
It's kind of sad that that was probably the most.

Speaker 5 (06:29):
That's probably what folks remember most about.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
You, most about that game, that particular game.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
It wasn't me.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
I took the crew to I knew from my high
school television show Days of a great Mexican restaurant, right
down by the river, right by the riogram, right by
the the chain link fencing. Uh, through that center of
town in El Paso, there was a fabulous Mexican restaurant

(06:59):
and old are now late producer Bill Harwell told him
and the other crew. I said, I don't know where
everybody else is going, but I know where I'm going.
And I'm like, oh, we'll go to I said, all right,
and we went to the place and it was it
was really good. So that's what I remembered as much
as anything. Well, I told you when I took my
son over there to the symbol a few years ago.

(07:20):
We went to that Mexican restaurant first, then we went
by over there. But yeah, a lot of people remember
that one. A lot of people do. All right, let's
let's move to the next conversation. Contravian Weisner, we know
him as Trey long One's running back. Has been versatile
and called upon and bounced back after a couple banged

(07:41):
up things. But he's going strong now. And our Will
Matthews sat down with Trey Wisner.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Everybody in the community has been so excited about what
you've been bringing to the field. But it's been a
long road. I mean, he didn't just walk in here
and get on the field. You really had to fight.
Talk about that fight. Why you have so much gret oh.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Man, It always comes down to where I'm from.

Speaker 6 (08:06):
My house raised, you know, being the oldest and a
three three sibling household. You know, I had to mature
early on in my life, so you know, just always
been able to be there for my siblings, and my family.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
It taught me a bunch along my way, including with football.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
So being there for your siblings, it's how you take
it on in the running back room because I know in.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
The running back room, like you're in that room, you're
in that room facts.

Speaker 6 (08:30):
You know, I definitely take that to my running back room,
cause you know, at the end of the days, it's
all about us, you know, Jayden Blew, me, Jered Gibson,
Even with C four and Christian going down, it's still
all about them. So you know, just being there for
my guys and you know, riding out for my guys
to sweet Spot.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
So riding out for your guys.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
Just in that concept, it seems like this team as
a whole is a lot about community, a lot about relationships.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
It seems like you're a relational god.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
Talk about the importance of of being a relational guy
and winning at such a high level.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
You know, just it all goes back to how coach starts.

Speaker 6 (09:08):
Is it our cultures, our colture, our standards, our standards.
So you know, just coming into a program and just
seeing how the culture has changed from this to this,
you know, faced a bunch of adversity on along the way.
It just it opened my eyes to you know, at
the end of the day, it's bigger than football. You know,
relationships last forever, football doesn't, you know, So at some
point football is going in for me and my teammates,

(09:30):
but our bond is gonna last forever.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
And being an athlete football has ended.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
And seeing that process and you saying that you being
with your teammates, what kind of bond have y'all built?

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Man?

Speaker 3 (09:43):
These big games, this big stuff, this seems like there's
something special there.

Speaker 6 (09:46):
Actually, we definitely built a special ball line, you know,
considering we lost a bunch of older guys last year
and we still have a bunch of older guys and
the guys that's here from four to five years ago,
they definitely bring the young guys with them and just
just show them the way. Not so much of as oh,
you're gonna do this and this is how you're gonna
do it, but it's it's more of a Okay, this

(10:07):
is how he's doing and now you're gonna get to
do it.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Now you get to watch me, do you know what
I'm saying?

Speaker 6 (10:10):
So that it's really a guide with all the guys.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
And last question, and I mean just talk me through
when you get a huge win. You guys have done
some incredible things this year, last year. How does it feel,
especially when you when your contribution to the team has
tremendously double tripled.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
Tell me about how that feels now.

Speaker 6 (10:35):
You know, it's a blessing to start off, you know,
just be able to play for the Lone Corns and
be able to walk around this campus and have the
support from the community that we have.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
You know, it's a it's a it's a real blessing.
I'm just grateful for it. Thank you for your time.
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
It's Stray Wisner visiting with our Will Matthews. All right,
up next with one more of those conversations with tight
End Gunner Helm that's coming up and some other topics
when we continue on Sports Radio AM thirteen under the
Zone and the iHeartRadio app.
