Speaker 1 (00:00):
We welcome you to a Thursday edition of the program
here on Sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone. Good afternoon, everybody.
I'm Craig Way. Glad to have you with us, and
so here it is on Thursday. There's NFL football tonight,
and it's not just NFL football. It's the Dallas Cowboys
playing the New York Giants, which accused me then to introduce,
(00:24):
of course, the producer of this program, Cameron D.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Parker.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
The D actually stands on his birth certificate for Dallas.
He was named the middle name, given the middle name
by his father in honor of first his dad's and
now his favorite NFL team. Although although Cameron has refused
to watch the Dallas Cowboys and given the last two weeks,
(00:49):
I think some folks would say, can you blame him?
But he made that decree after they lost in the
playoffs to Green Bay last year. So he is standing
by his work. What about your dad? He he used
to watch.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
He's just as set up as I am, but he's
got like more fitzgal towards Dak Prescott for some reason.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Really, he's down on Dak, down on Dak, down on Dak, but.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
More so than Jerry.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Yeah, he's one of his cowboy fans that I guess
believes that Dak Prescott should be lining up at defensive
tackle and making it play. I don't really understand it,
but yeah, he's in the same boat as me. I
think he'll hate watch. He'll hate watched. It is just
like a kind of like a like frustration, you know,
and just like stupid cowboys. How look at this, there's
(01:34):
another touchdown run against them type of thing. I'm completely
it's tax fall, Yeah, tax fall.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
They do play tonight against the New York Giants, and
so here it is a defining moment the season for
both of those teams going into the game. Both teams
wanted to going into the contest tonight. We'll talk more
a little bit more about that. Also, obviously, it is
the SEC Conference opening game for the Longhorns. It is
(02:06):
kind of weird to say SEC Conference opening game because
that's kind of from the Department of redundancy department. It's
the but you feel weird seeing the SE conference game,
you just say SEC opener. The league opener for the
Texas Longhorns Saturday afternoon against the Mississippi State Bulldogs, a
game which you can hear, of course, right here on
(02:28):
Sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone, as well as
on our big sister station ninety eight point one FMKVET
and on one oh three point one FM, Austin's eighty station.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
We bring it all to.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
You beginning at high noon from the hook them hangout
there in Long Devot Boulevard. They're in the Winship Circle.
That's where Longhorn's game day will start at noon with
Cameron Parker, your host, along with co hosts Mike Harge
and Mark Henry. They bring it to you at noon.
(03:01):
We have the network pregame show at two o'clock to
kick off three fifteen ish. I say it like that
because it's listed as three fifteen, but.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
You know, we could slide a minute or two, who knows,
but it's it's right around that time.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
So we're going to hear from Longhrt's head coach, Steve
Sarkisian from his final weekly media availability and that comes
up and from a weekly media zoom that he does,
so we'll have some comments from Sark. Of course, tonight
at seven o'clock you can hear Longhorn Weekly with coach sark.
(03:38):
You know, we record the program on Wednesday nights at
Pluckers the West Campus location there at twenty two twenty
two Rio Grands. So we did record the program last
night and and had our special guest Lifetime Longhorn Jackson.
Jeffcot was with us last night as well. We had
a lot of fun. You can go out there on
Wednesdays if you want to see us record the program
and listen to coach sar gets from six to seven
(04:00):
when we recorded on Wednesdays, but it airs Thursday night
at seven o'clock, so it'll be on tonight at seven o'clock.
Coming up in a few minutes, we're gonna visit with
Roger Wallace, my broadcast partner of Long Worn Football. But Roger,
of course in the day job, is the sports director
of kate XAM here in town, and they do a
Thursday nine high school football game which promises to be
(04:21):
I think a pretty close game between two teams trying
to rise up a little bit if had some struggle.
So we'll visit with Roger about that and talk some
other things. We do have inconceivable this hour, so we'll
have the inconceivable elements for you as well. So there's
a lot to get to on the program to talk baseball,
pennant races and things like that. It's still kind of tight.
(04:42):
Yankees still haven't clinched the East in the American League.
The Dodgers got one step closer to clinching the West
in a real playoff environment, type of atmosphere game last
night with San Diego, but they have to play again tonight.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
It's not done yet.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
They're in the National League West, and and then the
wild card races are getting real interesting and the weather
playing a factor and all that. So we'll get to
all of those things coming up in just a few minutes.
Did you watch anything in specific last night?
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Hmmm? No, got some pickleball in last night? Pickball? Did
you go all the way out to drip for that
or did you do it up in the up in
Leander area?
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Okay, okay, how how do the pickleball courts up there? So?
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Actually I have a friend who like ten years ago
built like pickleball courts in their backyard.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
They were way ahead of it. Wow.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
So they have a nice little backyard area and just
a few people go out there and play.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
So it's it's nice. Is a beautiful night.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Last Yeah, it was what's the most difficult part of pickleball?
Speaker 2 (05:46):
All of it for me, all of it.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
The movement, Yeah, get start used to Well, it's like
you you want to your serve you like, kind of
like muscle memory from playing tennis. Pung was completely different.
You gotta you gotta be have more death. So it's
not about hitting as hard as possible. It's more about
finesse and being okay with hitting it slow and soft,
which is not what I'm used to. So I got
(06:10):
to and it's a fun because I'm getting my butt
kicked by gentlemen who are fifty sixty even somewhere, maybe
even closer to seventy. But it's not about your movement now,
it's about the finesse of it. So that's what makes
it fun. And you know, it's just kind of like golf,
doesn't matter how old you are. The game is handicapped
to make it easy and fun for everybody.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
That's a good point.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
All right, Coming up next, we'll we'll talk Texas football,
we'll talk high school football and more will Roger Wallace
and we'll do that. If you would like to text
the program, feel free to do so. All you have
to do is text the word Texas follow by your
question or comment to eight one five three zero. So
(06:49):
just text the word Texas follow by your question comment
to you one five three zero. Standard messaging and data
rates bag apply. We will also give away another opportunity
for were you to be in the drawing for tickets
to see Deftones next March at the Frost Bank Center,
