Speaker 1 (00:00):
From Daryl k Royle Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin. It's
the first ever Southeastern Conference League contest for the Texas
log Worts, their first ever SEC conference game. The log
Worts host the Mississippi State bulldogars Manny out of the shotgun,
Arch with the stamp, turns hands into Jayden Blue bound

(00:21):
straight ahead and he's a boss touchdown Texas. The log
Oorts first ever conference touchdown in SEC play is a
one yard push straight in the line and across the
goal line for the score from Jayden Blue handing to
take the stamp on third down in a long nine
has the snap pressure coming, He's hits, he goes beat down. There.

(00:42):
Player for the Texas Yon ray down.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Arch Spanning.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Took a body shot and he took the eight shot
forty nine yards to DeAndre Morl. Philip's Nexus touchdown running
back is Devon Booth.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
It's offset for the right side.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Of the quarterback Michael van Buren on first down off
play actually up here hit paul Us on the turndown
hoards habit. How about Dick card and Broughton. It was
stripped from Van Buren, brought and hopping off turnover begats
turnover the Longbarns takeover it dropped back seven yards log
oorts have it on the possession exchange on the funding

(01:24):
on third dowven goal, Manning with a count has it
lunch is straight ahead Arch Manning this time after getting
so close is he across walk? Arts say they am,
but the officials have not sickled it. Now redo touchdown Texas.
Manning had a spectacular runner earlier that could have been

(01:46):
a touchdown. They overruled it. This time Arch is not
denied and the Longborns are backed up by two scores.
First down, snap back to plastic under press or another
sack for this time you man and you're taken down
outside by cold vassin for a loss of seven. March
with a stamp, back to throw, looking still looking going

(02:09):
deep into the end zone.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Put get up a split two.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Defenders and on third and ten, Manning hooks up with
more pro another touchdown, and he hands the stamp and
then flips it on the reverse from the.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Back the other way. Fine, got around.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Traffic, Say good out too, how's the by We'll stride
into the end zone a twenty six yard end a
round or a Texas touchdown. Damn Gury out of the gun,
hands the stamp back to throw. Pressure coming, He'll be
sack down, he goes and log words will take it.
Barren surreal getting in on this one. And that's an

(02:48):
exclamation point of what will be the Longhorns' first ever
win in an SEC game in their first try March.
We'll take the stamp, you'll put down the knee, and
that we'll do it. It wasn't always pretty and it
was definitely not always easy. Remember it was a fourteen
to six ball game late in the third quarter for

(03:10):
the Longhorns. Never trailed in this one, and they pull
away to get their first win in their first ever
Southeastern Conference League game. Final score this afternoon from Daryl
Kay Royal Texas Memorials Stity in Austin. The Texas long
Oarns thirty five, the Mississippi State Boldogs thirteen, and they

(03:34):
still have yet to trail in the game this season
or even be tied after scoring the first score of
the contest, but all that has gotten them dropped to
one spot in the AP pole from number one to
number two. No big whoop on that right now yet either.
So with that we say good afternoon. Welcome to the

(03:58):
program and a long oarts Monday here on sports Radio
AM thirteen hundred The Zone.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
My name is Craig Way. Glad to have you with.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Us here on this as we like to call it,
Longhorns Monday, coming off the Texas Longhorn game over the weekend.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
We includes the producer Cameron D. Parker.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
The D on the birth certificate stands for Dallas. Cowboys
didn't play yesterday. Of course, they had the game on
Thursday and won that and so they get back to
work this week. The Longhorns have an open date, a
bye on the schedule this week. And if you were

(04:35):
tuned in earlier today you heard the news conference live
this morning on sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone
where we bring you Steve Sarkisian's weekly news conference. Start
talking about the winter for Mississippi State in the areas
they want to clean up the first portioned part of
this season in the books now, so that's done for them.

(04:57):
They're at five and up. So Cameron Parker, with no
D standing for Dallas. For you in terms of watching
the Cowboys, what would the D have been defending the
President's Cup? Because they because Team USA did handle it.
They had they had a shaky Saturday. They did shaky

(05:20):
for Friday. Thank you Friday.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Yeah, because everyone's fired up the talk President's Cup on
this Monday.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Usually with the President's Cup, I think there's always a
moment where it's where it looks like the US is
going to secure all fifteen points with the first fifteen matches,
and then the present internationals team as they were chanting,
I n T thought, oh is Jamis Winston, Oh no,
it's his Internationals and then the US goes ahead. After
it was tied up five to five going Friday, US

(05:49):
just pulled away. And I think the last time the
Internationals won the President's Cup, I think Brett fav was starting,
Troy Aikman was starting, I think Finny Testa Verdi Wow
was starting.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
So that tells you how long ago, like ten in
a row they bore over twen years row.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
So I mean every year, I think it's kind of like,
can we figure out a new format for this? And
does anybody actually really care about it? I did watch
the melt down on Friday because it was so entertaining
to see the US to lose all five matches, but
then came back strong Saturday morning, built at the lead,
and then yesterday just complete domination from from top to
bottom for the most part.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
All right, so there you go that all right.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
Now, it is a long Horns Monday, so we will
hear the comments from Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian from
the weekly news conference. We brought it to you live
in its entirety of this morning, as we do every Monday.
That was at eleven thirty this morning. We brought it
to you. But for those of who didn't get a
chance to hear it, you'll hear the comments. Well, you'll
hear every comment that sark made. We just you know,

(06:49):
we have it in sound bite for him, so you'll
you'll hear that throughout the course of the program this afternoon.
There is pro football to discuss. There was a Sunday
yesterday with no Cowboys. You didn't have to worry about
intentionally averting your eyes since you have sworn not to
watch your favorite pro football team in lesson until they
reached the NFC Championship game, So with no need to

(07:13):
quickly change a channel to something else if the Cowboys
were on that sort of thing, since they were completely
out on the weekend since they played on Thursday. N
did you just settle in and watch the NFL yesterday?

Speaker 3 (07:24):
Oh yeah, and some interesting halftime scores. You had the
Vikings up twenty eight to seven over Green Bay. You
Tampa Bay up over Philadelphia twenty four to seven at halftime,
and then of course you had Bonnicks, who at halftime
and they did win over the Jets. But at halftime

(07:45):
bon Nicks, the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos, was
seven to fifteen for negative seven passing yards and they
won the game.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
Greig, I don't even know it's even possible.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
I think it's the lowest mounting passing yards for a
winning quarterback since two thousand and seven. I think Nick's
finished with sixty yards on twelve to twenty five. Not
sure how the Jets lost that game. I think Robert
Salad probably should be fired along with Doug Peterson. Those
are the two coaches I think. I can't believe they
still have a job this morning. But a lot of
fun football, except for maybe you're Los Angeles.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
Yeah, and you know it's funny.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
I have both Matthew Stafford and Bo Nix on my
team now. I don't start knicks because also have I
also have forgetting forget hopfull. It wasn't Josh Allen because
he killed me last night.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
No, no, it wasn't. It wasn't, but it was. It
was Lamar Jackson.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
It was Lamar Jackson. There, it was Lamar Jackson. Yeah,
he kind of got me back in the game. And
I'm going to lose my first game of the season.
I'm going to be three in one because staff Stafford.
My point was going to be that Stafford did not
do well. He only gave me points, but even that
would have been above both nixes four. Uh, and we're
in a quarterback boosted lead two quarterbacks. Yeah, yeah, you

(09:13):
can run one as a bonus anyway. And I was
off to a three and oh start, but it's going
to be three and one anyway.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Uh, you're right.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
Rams looked awful on offense, and I've watched some of
that and it was just it was bad on both sides,
them and the Bears. It was good to see Roshawn
Johnson score touchdown. Yeah, that was cool. And then he
took pictures for Jordan Whinnington after the game. That was
really neat. So but with with how banged up your
offensive line is. I mean the couldn't protect him. Yeah,
the one strength for sure that defense, in that defensive

(09:42):
line was in Matthew Stafford's face the entire game. Yep,
it wasn't much he could do about that. So, uh
what it certainly wasn't all on him. And they had
they they have other issues that they've got to that
they have to deal with, no doubt about it. Also,
and we'll talk obviously pro football. We will also get

(10:02):
into Major League Baseball because the end of the regular
season was not yesterday. The end of the regular season
is going on right now in Atlanta, Georgia, because the
Diamondbacks were able to get one win against San Diego
of the weekend, and because the Mets and Braves wound

(10:23):
up not sweeping their series of the weekend, the Braves
losing to the Royals yesterday, which by the way, pushed
Kansas City into the five seed in the American League Wildcard,
so they'll be playing the Orioles instead of the Astros.
The Tigers dropped into the sixth slot, and we'll play
Houston in the American League Wildcard Series, which gets underweight
to maorm because neither the Braves nor Mets could wind

(10:46):
up sweeping on it kept Arizona alive and they got
one win. So here's the way the thing went going
into the weekend. Remember, the Braves and Mets had games
last Wednesday and Thursday postponed a postponed called off because
of what was going to happen with the rain coming
from Hurricane Eleen, which has turned out to be quite

(11:10):
the deadly storm. Will tell you a little more about
it coming up and inconceivable. As a result of that,
the Mets and Braves did not play Wednesday, played neither
Wednesday nor Thursday. So because of that, the Major League
Baseball Office said they're only going to have to play
those two games if they're necessary, and those would be

(11:32):
on Monday, the day after the end of the regular season.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Well, guess what they're necessary. They're having to play. So
going in.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
Today, these were the scenarios a win by and they
had played both games in Game one is getting into
the late stages right now. If either the Mets or
the Braves were to win at least one game, they
get in, in other words, if they split the doubleheader.

(11:58):
Those are the two National League wildcar Our teams along
with San Diego and Arizona would be out. The Diamondbacks
hope is for a sweep by either side, and through
seven innings the Atlanta Brais with Schollenbach on the mound
looked tremendous. They jump to three to nothing lead, but
he's out of the ball game now and the Mets
have gone after the bullpad. It's now a three to

(12:20):
one ball game with a runner at second and still
nobody out. As New York bats in the top of
the eighth inning, that's Game one. They will play game
two regardless of what happens in Game one. If the
Braves win, they're in. If the Mets win, they're in.
But then they have to play game two. And if
the team that lost Game one wins Game two, they
get in as well. Both the Mets and Braves would

(12:41):
then get in and the d Backs would be out.
Regardless of the outcome of this game, the Diamondbacks are
going to be rooting really hard for whoever wins Game
one to win Game two.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
That's what they're really gonna hope for.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
And by the way, the Mets got another, they got
runners on the corner, they get the tying runs on
with nobody out out in the eighth inning, so we'll
keep you posted on that. It's a three to one
ball game, and again, whoever wins that game will have
to win game two to get in, Otherwise the Diamondbacks
would get in if it's a sweep, So we'll keep
you posted on that and a lot more.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
We'll get to all that coming.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
Up, and we'll be happy to take your texts on
the text line as well. All you have to do
is text the word Texas follow by your question or
