Speaker 3 (00:20):
Updating that National League regular season ending contest or in
the top of the fourth inning in Atlanta. In fact,
they're going to the bottom of the fourth now as
Grant Holmes has really shut down the Mets through the
first four innings. They're going to the bottom of fourth
Atlanta leading one to nothing. Any base runners yet for

(00:40):
the Mets.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Uh, I don't think so. I'll double check that. I
don't think so. G O or Schella's Harbi single the
difference in the ballgame as no no one's been on base.
I didn't think so.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
No one's base So it's been four perfect innings so
far for Grant at Homes in that contest. It'll be
interesting to see how that ultimately goes. It goes from
there on the text line, uh so see pass has
been a longhorn since the sixties. Been the two OU games.

(01:14):
This game can be rough on a first year OU
game for a Texas quarterback, especially or examples being Vincent Colts.
Colt won his first OU game two thousand and six,
lose any right, oh seven O seven, oh yeah, oh
seven one in six O eight O nine. Sam Bradford, yep.

(01:39):
It especially on the OU into the field, especially the
first quarter. Quinn's first was O U easy, OU was terrible.
Quinn would be the best choice if it were close.
I don't think uh that it that it will even
be a choice if if if Quinn user is ready
to go, he'll he'll run out there with the first
team to take that.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
This is not.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
I don't even think this is a discussion. If he's
physically ready to go. That I think is why Sark
said after the game Saturday that we need Quinn Ewers
back on the field. He's the leader of our football team.
He doesn't have to go into explanations of Quinn can
manage this situation the game better than ours or anything

(02:23):
like that. He doesn't even have to have to do that.
He's the number one quarterback of this football team. And
if he's ready to go, when he's ready to go,
he'll be back on the field.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
And I can tell you that Quinn yours with the
competitor that he is. He wants to play in this game.
It's his last ever. Red River Raby goes to the
NFL next year, assuming is rich. I think it's a
healthy bet. He wants to finish with the victory, especially
after last year's lost and the way they lost that
game thirty four to thirty to Dylan Gabriel, who that

(02:56):
was his first and only Red River Ravery game. I
didn't want to know, but you know, Quinn Ewers wants
to be back in the field. And we kind of
heard it in the previous weeks that if Texas was
playing Oklahoma or Georgia last week or maybe even the
week before, Quinn yours probably would have played. But shows
you the luckier that Texas has at their quarterback depth

(03:17):
with arch Manning, who is I think, without any doubt,
the best backup quarterback in college football. I mean, for
heaven's sake, he was the highest rated Pro Football Focus
quarterback rating terms this past week. So because of that,
Sarks and you, okay, I can afford to play arch
Manning these two games and not worry about losing these
games allow Quinn to get back to one hundred percent,

(03:40):
to get healthy. And we heard a question asked earlier
today about you know, Quinn being able to come back
from injury he's two to zero when coming off an injury.
He beat Oklahoma forty nine to Zhering two years ago,
and then they beat TCU this past season at Fort
Worth when he was coming back from an injury. So
he'll be good to go. Not only will it be

(04:00):
good to go, he'll be all systems go for this game.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Seabout said, and again to his quote, and he makes
some good points. He said, this game can be rough
on a first OU game for a Texas quarterback. You
know what else, This game can be rough on a
first year Oklahoma quarterback. Michael Hawkins is going to be
the guy. He's going to start the game. It's not

(04:27):
going to be Jackson Arnold. I think that's pretty plain
and evident through what's happened since Hawkins came in during
the Tennessee game and got the start, and most importantly,
they got the win. They did not light it up
against Auburn. We know that they did struggle offensively. It
took the pick six to flip the game, but they
also managed to manage the game down the stretch to

(04:49):
hold on and get the win. That pick six came
of four minutes ago, and then when they got the
ball back they didn't let Auburn get down the field
to do it.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
They in fact added a field goal on it. So
he's fund the watch Michael Hawkins.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
He's I think Oklahoma has a much better chance of
winning this game with Hawkins that quarterback than Jackson Arnold.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
You know, I've seen Jackson Arnold for.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Six years, getting guy, going back to when he got
pressed into service as a freshman against Westlake in the
twenty nineteen state championship game. On the sideline for that,
I was were you were you just like hanging or
I was covering it for TSTV Sports when I was

(05:34):
a student at UT I was there.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
I saw that game. I saw Duncanville North Shore Part
two of They're like that would have been twenty nineteen. Yeah,
so was that part two or part that was part Part?
Part one was the Hail Mary yep. Part two.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
They won by like a touchdown and and Nuncleville had
some chances. Part three North Short just kind of dominated
it real on that. So So anyway, my point was
that I'd seen Jackson Artol through it, and he's a
very talented guy. He really is. For the type of

(06:14):
offense that they want to run. He might not be
best suited for it. Hawkins might be better suited for it.
And I know the rumor Mills already started. Hey, you
know he's gonna wind up going into the Portal one,
going to Starkville to play for Jeff Levy and all that.
That's you know, that's one of the rumors out there.

(06:36):
Of course, Van Buren is a true freshman, and Chris Parson,
who played, was a red shirt freshman who played.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
So I don't know, we'll.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
See, but the game can be tough on the freshman.
I think Sea Palace Point is well made. It can
be tough on for it on both sides. It can
be difficult. Lookout was two years ago for Oklahoma and
what was going on it was it was not good.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
So anyway, the well will make it easier for him.
Craig is if he gets some of his receivers back, yep,
because OU's has been hammered by injuries. For Roop's been out, uh,
Nick Anderson's been out. They were without one other starter.
I think it's Auburn, So that's not helpful. You know,
without those without those key guys in Oklahoma has not

(07:23):
had the depth that wide out that Texas has right now.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
Yeah, I think that's another reason why you heard Sark say,
and he was kind of, you know, feigning knocking on
the wood or whatever, saying, we have not been hit
as hard by injuries as some other programs. And he knows,
you know, some people look up like really, I mean,
he goes, I know, we lost their starting quarterback. Uh,

(07:48):
and we've had other guys hobbled and running back, but
it happened at every position. Where they really significantly lost
somebody for a significant amount of time is where they
had the most app quarterback, running back, secondary. Those were
the three areas where they've had the most depth quarterback,
running back, secondary, Wide receiver would be one of those

(08:11):
things as well. But that's only been a little bug
here and there. Let me ask you this question, Craig,
with this SEC injury report, this text is still up
the file one this week because they are on a buy.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
I don't think so. Okay, I don't think so. I
think it's only a few it's for game situations. I'll
double check that, but I'm pretty sure that's in case.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
