Speaker 1 (00:00):
Thanks for joining us here on a Monday Red River
Rivalry week edition of The Craigway Show here on Sports
Radio AM thirteen one hundred of the Zone, where you
can always listen to us for free on the iHeartRadio app.
My name is Craig Wait. Thanks very much for joining us,
and so glad to be able to say this. The
producer of this program is here in the studio with us.
(00:23):
He is none other than Cameron D.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Parker.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
The D on the birth certificate actually stands for Dallas,
as as in his favorite football team that he refuses
to watch on television that still provided thrills.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
In a victory last night, the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
No No, these past several days, the D has stood
for disabled Cameron disabled Parker.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
But he's abled again and he's back in the house.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
How you feeling a lot better, Craig, A lot better
than how I was feeling about the midweek mark of
last week. Disabled is the correct term for where the
shape I was in.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Now to take everybody back through this, actually start on
Monday night a week ago, right, Tuesday, Tuesday day. All right,
you tell everybody exactly what happened, because the thing I've
been asked most by people.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
A lot of people your weapons we care about since
what exactly did he do?
Speaker 1 (01:18):
And I said, well, it was had something to do
with weightlifting, but I don't know all of details. So
take everybody through exactly what you did or tried to
do unsuccessfully and it led to the issues.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Yeah, Tuesday, before work, tried to get in a little
lift session at my gym, Crunch fitness suit a park,
great spot back day. I was gonna do some deadlifting
and I'm already you know at this point just probably
should just go ahead and stop deadlifting. But barbell deadlift,
second second set just felt lower back. But that muscle
pull didn't didn't feel good. And I've had some like
(01:52):
hip flexer, lower back. You know, it's all connected issues
before in the past. Probably should learn how the stretch
would be a good idea.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
But came in.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
I got an icy hot at HGB before coming into
the studio, and you know, I was limping around, very
gingerly moving around.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
I remember one specific moment you want, Oh yeah, and
it was tough for you to get back in the chair.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Yeah, there was.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
There wasn't great sitting in this chair probably was not
the best idea for the next three four hours, but
the show ends. My only goal is just skid, just
get home, get in bed, ice pack, and.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Then tell everybody what happened.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
I was going to mention an inconceivable and then I
got tied down. I didn't when you were still here
and I was gone, and you went to the restroom.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Yeah, so leaving, getting ready to go home to the
go to the bathroom, and my back just gave out
and I just collapsed on the floor. For probably about
ten fifteen minutes. You're just laying on the ground, could
could not move. Called my dad to see where he
was at. He wasn't anywhere nearby, and I knew there
were some people stole in the office when I when
I left, so I was able to finally get on
(02:57):
my feet somehow, and I could hear alex Or, our
sales manager here in the Austin office. I could hear
her saying goodbye to someone else in the studio. I
called her and was like, hey, you may need to
take me to the hospital if you can. So she
came and helped me. We tried to walk down the
hallway here.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
I didn't mention that she didn't actually have to go
into the no.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
I was able to crawl out at that point, crawl out,
get up, and we were walking towards her car. She
was gonna take me the hospital at that point and
again back gave out, got me into a chair, and
at some point my dad had called my uncle who
lives up in Round Rock and he was on his
way down actually to pick me up. Got me and
got me into his car, and then how to get
(03:37):
carried inside my house pretty much, and my dad brought
down my mattress from upstairs, put it on the ground,
and I was sleeping. I was in the mattress on
the living room floor for probably about thirty six hours
straight until about Thursday. But fortunately, through the help of
modern day medicine, some steroid injections, muscle relaxers, anti inflammatories,
(03:58):
I was able to once again walk again. So don't
call me Lazarus, but uh we got and don't give
you a peed test either. Yeah that as well. In
no more deadlifting for Meah, okay, all right, well, I'm
glad you're back.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Glad you and Camas with us this morning. Over're on
campus for our Longhorns Monday presentation. As we brought you
Steve Sarcasan's weekly news conference at Texas ou week Red
River Rivalry, UH press conference. We brought that to you live.
Mike card Bill Hart's joining me over there for that
as well, So, uh, we'll have that and we had
(04:33):
it in its entirety live obviously when it happened this morning. However,
for those of you missed it, or if you just
want to hear the recap of it again, we have
it in our usual uh broken down into the Q
and A portions of the SoundBite portions, and you'll have
you'll hear that throughout the course of the program this afternoon.
We do need to talk about two major developments of
(04:57):
the weekend college football, which saw all kinds of chaos
with five of the top eleven teams ranked in the
country all losing. In fact, it was almost six Miami
was down thirty five to ten. Unless you stayed up late,
late late for acc after dark. Stayed up late Saturday?
(05:18):
Did you do that, by the way, late Saturday?
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Nine?
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Did you?
Speaker 1 (05:22):
And I was after the game one of the Dodgers
Padres National League Division Series. I slipping back and forth
between the Miami California game and the Texas Tech Arizona game,
and Miami was down thirty five ten at the half,
came back and won thirty nine thirty eight over col
(05:44):
So they avoided being the number six team or the
sixth of eleven ranked teams to the top eleven to lose.
But number one Alabama obviously fell to Vanderbilt. You had
number four Tennessee losing on the road to an unranked Arkansas.
You had a number nine Missouri getting absolutely boat raced
(06:12):
by Texas A and m. You had tenth rank Michigan
falling at Washington and number eleven usc losing at Minnesota.
All of those teams lost, All of those teams suffered
for it in the polls regardless of So.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
There's that to discuss. Then there was the NFL.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Crazy finishes in both games involving the state of Texas
to NFL teams. The early window with the Texans and
the Bills, and it looked for all the world as
though the Texans were giving away their opportunity. They took
on that it had to get through kind of a
mindless grounding call penalty against C. J. Stroud and then
(06:57):
following a great punt by the Texans to see Buffalo
kind of go brain dead offensively and for three straight
in completions from inside their own five yard line to
punt it and give Houston field position enough where they
were able to maneuver for Kayimi Fairbairn to knock home
(07:17):
a fifty nine yarder at the gun, and the Texans
are now four and one as they beat the Buffalo
Bills in that contest.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Then you have last night. I know I don't even
need to ask it, but you did not watch the
game last night? Did you actually, Craig Way, Hey, we
get some true confessions here. Did you watch the game?
I watched the very final play? Okay, because I did not.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
I was at ACL yesterday and I knew the game
was delayed and got back to my friend's place, you know,
getting a late night snack, and it's you know, it's
almost midnight, and the ESPN Fantasy app, you know, they'll
send you notifications when your players scores a touchdown. Right,
I knew I knew how the game was going, but
I got a notification saying, hey, Pat Friremuth just caught
(08:04):
a seven six yard touchdown pass. It's like, man, it's
almost midnight, but that means that Pittsburgh is winning this
football game. And so I checked my phone and saw
Dallas had the ball in the one yard line. It
was second or third and goal. Put on Twitter. Saw
Twitter was melting down because Dak Prescott almost had to
jump on a fumble. Have been the third Cowboys turn
over the red zone. Yeah, put it up on YouTube TV.
(08:26):
Saw them call like three timeouts in a row, and
finally saw Dak Prescott did gilln Tolbert to win the game.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
So you saw it.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
You actually watched it live the game the very last play,
last last play.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Did not did not see live of Ceedee Lamb calling
Dak Prescott's interception a subpar throw. Did not see the
two previous turnovers in the red zone. I didn't see
Brandon Aubrey's getting his field gold block. Didn't get to
watch Kyle Allen play.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
Thank god.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
I can't believe you actually still playing NFL football. He
was in college of ten years ago. So but I
did watch the final play. Okay, and I'll tell you what, Craig,
I did.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
It brought you back? Has it brought you back now?
Speaker 3 (09:06):
Not even close? But I did feel happy for Dak
Prescott that moment. Because Twitter was not very nice.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
All ever, carving him up left and right and the
early ripping and all that. And there were a few
people I knew that were doing it, so I went
back in. They're like, what was he thinking of that?
I texted or I responded to a couple of social
media as well. He was actually thinking he was going
to lead them downfield completing four or five pass or
it was five of seven passes for forty eight yards
(09:31):
on the game winning drive, that kind of thing. And
that's listen, that's how it's going to be with Dak.
You're gonna have to take the bad with the good
and stop bringing up the sixty million a year. You're
not paying it. Jerry's paid. I know you say, ultimately
it comes out of the ticket prices. Are you really
going that much anyway? Are you a Cowboys season ticket older?
If not, stop it with the two hundred and forty million,
(09:54):
it's going to be what the market bears, what what
pro football teams are willing to pay their quarterbacks. And
he believes in Dak, and so he's gonna pay him
the sixty million. So just deal with that and understand
that sixty million is doesn't.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
Buy you what it used to buy.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
It's not going to buy you an infallible quarterback.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
It isn't.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
But with along some of the bad moments like you
saw early in the game, you get some of what
you saw at the tail end when he was calm
and directed and let his guys down it and hopped
on the fumble that Rico Daldole had knocked out of
his hands. With that flying through the air hit from Pittsburgh, Dak, listen,
he put him in a bad spot.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Absolutely, I'm with you. He also saved the day.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
And you if you're going to rip him when he's
not doing well, if you're going to torch him, and
it's certainly understandable, you have to also.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
Give credit where credit is due.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
You have to swallow hard and say, okay, yeah, but
he did come through, But why does it have to
get to that. That's understandable, it's understandable, but you have
to give credit as well as the blame.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
And if you're a Steelers fan, you probably wish you
had Dak Prescott because last night, if they had a
capable quarterback, they won that game. And then look at
Lamar Jackson, Craig, I mean, he had a mind blowing
turnover and overtime, and fortunately for Ravens fans and the Ravens,
McPherson misses his field goal Justin Tucker makes his, but
just a brain dead play from probably the MVP front runner.
(11:22):
And then Josh Allen yesterday, who was MVP two weeks ago.
He didn't look good against Houston. So none of these
quarterbacks have looked I don't think super impressive.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
Now. I watched Matthew Stafford miss two open receivers, one
that was incomplete, another that was intercepted, and they lost
another game they should have won. So they're not infallible.
They're going to make mistakes. Understand that, and the sooner
you understand it accept it, the better off you arm.
All right, coming up, we're gonna hear from Long Worn's
(11:50):
head coach Steve Sarkishan. We'll do that when we continue
on Sports Radio AM thirteen under the zone of the
iHeartRadio app.
