Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to a Texas Tuesday of the program. We welcome
you to our Texas Tuesday edition of The Craigway Show
here on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
My name is Craig Way. Thanks so much for joining us.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Glad to have you with us, Pleased as always and
privileged to have the producer of the program, Cameron D.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Parker.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
The deal on the birth certificate stands for Dallas, as
in the Dallas Cowboys, his favorite NFL team that he
refuses to watch, although we did watch the last play
on Sunday night in their win over the Pittsburgh Steelers,
so maybe it just cracks the door open just a
little bit for him to watch more of his favorite
team despite his frustrations of past years.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Any hope of that, No, absolutely no chance.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
In fact, you know, it's kind of took a step
backwards today because you know, I was hoping that Mike
McCarthy would be the first coach fired.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
In it didn't turn out that the case, and it
wasn't the coach some other folks thought it might be.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Doug Peterson was my my one option. Yeah, he will
still get fired, probably a couple of weeks after they
have a bad London trip. But Robert Sala, New York
Jets first coach off the board.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Let's see, because Robert Sala was dealing with something that
neither neither Mike McCarthy nor Doug Peterson. We're dealing with
Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, you got Aaron Rodgers. It's quarterback. If
Aaron didn't happy, nobody's not and nobody's happy. So that
happened there. We'll have more of that on the Texas Tuesday.
Texas Tuesday means this we hear from long range players
(01:28):
and coaches, and we will. We'll do that a little
bit different twist because it's Texas. So wee coming up
in a few minutes, we're going to visit with lifetime
Oklahoma Sooner Koe Gundy, a quarterback of Oklahoma in the
early nineties and a radio caundar part at the Sports
Animal up at Oklahoma City, will join us in a
few minutes. Yes, Kale is Mike Gundy's brother, the head
(01:50):
coach of the Oklahoma State Cowboys. So we'll visit with
Kale coming up here in a few minutes. Get some
foughts on the Oklahoma side of this Red River rivalry.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Again.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
My advice to you is to just say it slowly
and deliberately. If you try to run it together, you
will elmer flood it. Wef of you will. You will
stumble down that road if you try to do that.
So Red River Rivalry and we'll visit with Kale Gunny
about that. But we'll hear uh from David Denda from
the Long Corn football team his thoughts on this. It's,
(02:24):
after all, only his sixth red River Rivalry matchup, so
he knows a thing or two about this game. So
we'll hear from David Benda. We will hear more from
Longhorn's head coach, Steve Sarkisin from the weekly news conference.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
We'll do that.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
We'll have inconceivable later this hour because there are some
inconceivable stories and things that are out there. We'll get
to those as well. We'll keep you updated on the
Major League Baseball Division series. All four division series are
one one. All four are one one after wins yesterday
by the Tigers. The three run home run in the
top of the nine for Kerry Carpenter and that carried
(03:01):
the Tigers too three to nothing win of the Guardians,
so that series tidy.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
The game apiece.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Then last night the Royals had a four to and
fourth was the difference in the ballgame or in the fifth,
and they went on and beat the Yankees four to two.
So Kansas City, New York are even at the game apiece.
It's a travel day for the American League as they'll go.
The Guardians Tiger series will shift to Detroit, resuming with
game three tomorrow. The Royals Yankee series shifts to Kansas City,
(03:28):
resuming game three tomorrow. The National League Division Series resume
this afternoon, starting at four o'clock this afternoon, Game three
of the Mets Phillies series. That is in New York
at City Field, and that will be at four o'clock
this afternoon, that series tied to the game apiece. And
then tonight at eight o'clock in San Diego, it's the
(03:50):
Padres and the Dodgers with that series level at a
game apiece. So we'll keep you update on the afternoon
game as it gets the end to the.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Four o'clock hour.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Also, this being a Texas Tuesday means we discuss college
and high school football in the Lone Star State with
Greg Tepper, managing editor of Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine.
He'll join us in the three o'clock hour as he
does every Tuesday to talk about that. So a lot
on the table today Monday Night football. Did you get
a chance to watch Manning Cast last night?
Speaker 3 (04:21):
Of course I did, and I think it was after
you left. I looked up the schedule and saw okay,
bellow Chick, Paul Rudd and Archie Manning. Of course Eli
and Peyton's father bought that time. Craig got the messages
Texas quarterback Arch Manning going to be on Manning Cast tonight. No, no, Archie, No,
(04:42):
it's it's going to be arch It's arch Like there
sent that. There's no chance in hell that Steve Sarkisan
is letting Arch Manning go on the Manning Cast a
week with the Texas OU game. We won't even let
his quarterback when you are speak with the media on Monday.
So I did win some friendly bets, like hey, pack
of beer type of theme I knew arch Archie Manning is.
(05:03):
We'd had this discussion million times before. Archie Manning is
the grandpa, arch is the grandson. People don't know how
many times we need to discuss this.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Most most people in Austin. Most know this, Uh.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
Yet the people who are talking to me Craigor really
and they just didn't know they are Texas Longhorns fans.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
We also had to straighten out our good friend Andrew Zimmel,
who helps us out in San Antonio. He was calling
arch Archie the other way around and just saying, you know,
and we're like, no, dude, Archie is the grandfather, He's
the patriarch. Arch is the grandson. He's he is the
you know, he's the chosen one. Eventually on down the road.
(05:46):
And then he's got his two famous uncles, Peyton and Eli,
who were hosting, uh their their man and kids. I'm
here to tell you it's gotten to the point now
where it's the only way I really care to watch
Monday night football anymore. I mean, even if my team
was playing the Rams, I would watch the Manning cast.
It's so much more insightful than entertaining. First of all, now,
(06:06):
I don't know if you've noticed this, Belichick is a
regular now. He's on every week with him in the
first half entre half, and it makes and it makes
great sense. It's hilarious because it's it's hilarious and it's
incredibly and stuffy. You learn a lot about football listening
to those three guys, especially Belichick and to a lesser
extent Peyton. Eli pops in with stuff too, but you
(06:27):
learn so much about football and what they're looking. How
about Peyton last night pulling out that Chief's play call,
that call sheet, a big laminated call sheet. And then
they started having fun with Belichick about you know when
he had Nat Patricia on his staff and Trisha always
had the pencil sticking on the ear and they said,
(06:48):
why do you why does he do that with a laminade. Well,
he's got to have that for marking down adjustments. I
can pay. Eli's like, but it's a laminated sheet. How
could he write? He goes, well, it's for the adjustment sheet.
He's not going to write all laminade achieve on a
pencil because we know.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
That doesn't work. So stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
And then when Archie got on the show, Well, Paul
Rudd was funny because he presented himself as this tortured
Chiefs fan who just he hated being on with them
because it was it was interrupting his agony of the
ups and downs of being a Chiefs fan.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
So there was that, but he was very entertaining.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
And then Archie gets on and and of course here's
Pops and his real low key thing, but he's just
telling stories and he's like a constant level lake and
keeping the other guys off balance, and you just had
the love all that footage they pulled from that Manning
documentary showing Peyton getting beat up by Cooper, who is
Arch's dad by the way, Cooper and showing him getting
(07:48):
beat up and rough housed and all that other.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Kind of stuff. It's great stuff, it is.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
It makes It makes for a pretty eventful and entertaining
eating all right.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
So that's what we have on tap the day.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Up next, we're gonna visit with Kale Gundhy, talk show
host at the Sports Animal in Oklahoma City. But of
course Kale, former Sooners quarterback, will get his thoughts on
the Oklahoma Sooners and this Red River rivalry matchup. Do
you get a Tuesday afternoon edition of the program right

where you can always listen to us for free on
