Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to the program here on a
Friday on Sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone. My
name is Craigway, so glad to have you with us,
and hopefully, as I always say, Friday for you means Friday.
What it does for a lot of folks that you
are on the advent of the weekend and maybe a
time to catch your breath or go out to a
(00:20):
rather large college football game tomorrow, or a big high
school football game than ida really big car race here
in the Austin area on Sunday. If Friday does not
mean that for you, maybe only your Wednesday, so to speak,
middle of the week or even starting a week, hopefully
it'll go well for you as well. Glad to have
(00:42):
you with us. Again, I'm Craig Way, and the US
refers to the producer Camera d Parker. The deal on
the birth certificate stands for Dallas, as in the city
that houses his favorite pro football team that he is
literally disgusted with refuses to watch right now, and that
(01:03):
of his father as well, who named him that Dallas
with the middle name.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
So this does it ever bother.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
You that your middle name is Dallas name, But because
of who you were named after.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
And remember when you were born.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Jerry Jones was already eight years into the ownership of
the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Now he had three Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Rings, which he still has, just the three, the three
Vince Lombardi trophies, and it was two years after his
last one that you were born. But does it ever
bother you that you were named for the team that
Jerry Jones owns.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
No.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
I like it a lot.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
I think it's actually kind of unique in some sort
of way. I don't know a lot of people named Dallas.
I mean, Dallas Goddard, Dallas Clark, something to do with
tight end. Should have been a tight End and I
kind of have the frame for it. But you know,
it's funny. I have a couple ex's and all their
middle names seem to be Rose. So at least it's
something different, right, Oh, Dallas is a little bit different,
(02:02):
and people find it amusing.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
It's it's a good icebreaker.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
It's a good story at parties with different people because
everyone always wants to, like, guess your middle name. I'm like, Okay,
starts with the D, but you won't get it in.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
D David.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
It's like, Okay, it's not that white. It's a white
middle name, Dallas, but it's not that white.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Come on, people, did I hear you say you have
a couple of exes whose name is Rose.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
The middle name is Rose. It's weird.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
I had like three in a row where their middle
name all seemed to be Rose, and I was like,
what's going on here?
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Now?
Speaker 4 (02:35):
They all were white and blondes and all from North Carolina.
So maybe it's like a thing in North Carolina where
it's like, hey, your mill name has to be Rose.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
That was my mom's first name in.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
Okay, Okay, I was gonna say it's a red flag,
but you know, first name is probably better than middle name.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
My mom was the daughter of two Italian immigrants. Her
actual name on her versity is Rosa.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
But okay, yeah, I think there is is Rose and
none of them are Italians.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
Okay, Uh, that's interesting that that.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Did you bring that up? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (03:05):
All of those Dallas's you know, the long time for
decades play by play voice of the Brownwood Lions, one
of the one of the most successful programs in high
school football history, with seven state titles and all that.
His name is Dallas Houston. Dallas Houston now that I
think was an air name. I think Dallas Houston. Okay, yeah,
(03:27):
but yeah, the long time immortal play by play voice
of the.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Brown good name.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
Yeah, I mean you're not gonna You're not gonna forget that.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
It kind of it kind of has a ring to it. Dead.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
Uh this, Maybe should I go by Dallas Parker then
would that be better? Or Dallas Cameron camera Cameron. Dallas
was a famous YouTuber.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Oh yeah, that's right. Yeah, I kind of like I
kind of like Dallas Parker kind of like it. But
your mom didn't want that.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
No, No, I don't. I don't think she would like that.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
She would not be h.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
She has never called me by my name Dallas, and
I think my dad's probably forgotten my own name is
Dallas at this point.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Even though he the one you were pushed for it.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Okay, I I should tell you, uh that, Uh there
there's a ring to this weekend here in Austin, obviously,
Texas and Georgia. Final preparations are underway the ESPN UH
Sports centers down here and uh uh both on campus
at UT and then at the F one track at
Coda over the weekend. Uh ESPN College game Day is
(04:26):
already down here. When I saw a photo tweeted out
of Sark with Desmond Howard.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
Pat McAfee did his show from the old l HN broadcast.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Yeah, so there's there's uh, they're in town, they're they're
all here for this, and obviously here's a great deal
of excitement about it as well. And and I readily
admit people who know me know that I don't. I'm
not really much into the whole wagering side of things.
I never really paid that much attention to it, mainly
(04:58):
because I don't wager on games, but I just really
hadn't paid that much attention to it. I also know
what the strategy is involved for those who set the
odds is that they're they're wanting action on both sides.
They might not necessarily believe one team is X number
of points better than another, but that might be the deal.
Well anyway, Georgia, I've learned this Today owns the longest
(05:23):
active streak as the betting favorite in each game, forty
nine consecutive weeks. It's going to end tomorrow unless there's
an incredible amount of action put on them. Texas Today
said forty nine forty nine consecutive the Good Seams forty
(05:45):
nine games. Forty nine consecutive games they have been the
betting line favorite, and that will end at forty nine
tomorrow because the Loghorns a consensus five point favorite in
the game tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
The line opened.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
At three and a half for Texas, and then a
whole lot of bets on the Longhorns hit multiple sports
books on Wednesday, and that nudged the spread up as
high as five and a half and it settled in
at five.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
Came in a twenty minute interval. They said, so Whyer
of Mattress Mac was involved.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
In that, involved in that? Maybe, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
At BETMGM, more bets have been placed and more money
wagered on Texas minus the points than any other team
on the board. Fanatics sports book reported yesterday the Long
Runs had attracted six times as much money from betters
as any other team on the Saturday college football slate.
The money wagered on Texas this week at Fanatics already
(06:48):
more than the total amount wagered on the Ohio State
Oregon game last week. Approximately ninety percent of the money
bet on the Georgia Texas spread was on the long
Horns at Fanatics so it was a little more balanced.
To ESPN, bet Texas got fifty two percent of the
bets and the money wagered on the point spread. Georgia
(07:08):
has not been a betting underdog in a game since
the twenty twenty one season opener against Clemson. Alabama owns,
in case you're interested, the longest all time streak of
being favored, the Crimson Tide favored in ninety two consecutive games,
a streak that began at twenty fifteen and ended with
the twenty twenty one SEC Championship game against Georgia. So
(07:30):
for those of you are into the wagering side of that,
there you go, there's some there's some interest for you
on that.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
I'll tell you what, Craig, This Texas team likes to
end streaks. I think about last year against Alabama. Right, Alabama,
I don't think had lost a non conference game at
Bryant Denny since New Mexico State and Sabans first year.
Texas snapped that, and then Michigan the longest active win
streak and longest active home win streak until Texas snapped that,
(07:59):
and we too, So we'll see.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Yeah, I think it was a fifty three game home
winning streak for Alabama. Then then Michigan had streak. So yeah,
Long Words have done that. We'll see how this streak
is effective.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
All right. Coming up on the program this.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
Afternoon, we're going to obviously more on the Texas Georgia matchup.
We'll hear from coach Sark from last night's edition of
Long Worn Weekly where Sark was talking in specifics in
our matchup segment about the Bulldogs. Will bring that to you.
We do have inconceivable, Cameron. We know what inconceivable on
(08:31):
the Friday means.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
We go down to the more flaccid, the lower forty
eight states and search for that Florida man and Florida woman.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
Yeah, it was pretty low hanging fruit this week coming
off of Hurricane Milton.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
A couple of items about that. So we'll have that.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
And coming up next we're gonna hear we'll have some
more on college football. I'll look back at the NFL. Yeah,
the National League and American League Championship Series continued today.
The Dodgers are going for the clincher this afternoon. They
start about two hours from now, and they'll be playing
the New York Mets in Game five. The Yankees and
(09:07):
Guardians playing in the night. What a historic name that
was last night, Just a real thumper with the Guardians
getting the walk off homer in the bottom of the tenth.
We'll talk about that, and we're going to hear from
Vic Schaffer, Texas women's basketball head coach on the eve of.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
The start of the season.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
All that and more coming your way on a Friday
afternoon here on sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone
