Speaker 1 (00:00):
Craig Way with you from the broadcast booth at First
Bank Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. Tomorrow, the Texas Longhorns take
on the Vanderbilt Commodorees here in this very cozy or
cozily confined configuration here because they've got the renovations going

(00:21):
on on one end past the what would be the
south end zone, and that's that's going on. It is
reduced seating capacity they're going to have right around twenty
nine thousand. We'll be able to be here for that
and that's it for the game tomorrow. Now, they'll be
there'll be some long worn fans here. The plane flight
that it was on this morning was just packed full

(00:43):
of burnt orange, and there were other flights as well
going on, so there will be there will definitely be
Texas fans here, but the preponderance of the fans will
be obviously wearing black and gold for Vanderbilt, and their
students will be out in force like they were for
the Alabama game. So it's it's one of those deals
in a tightly confined facility where the long wrornes are

(01:06):
gonna have to come out and play well coming off
the loss to Georgia taking on a Vanderbilt team. You heard,
if you were listening last hour Steve Sarkisian saying their
five and two is real. Is what he meant by
that their record is real. Now the reel includes the
two losses. One of the losses was a very respectable

(01:27):
one in double overtime in Columbia, Missouri to a then
at the time seventh ranked Missouri team, And it was
only because Vanderbilt missed on a couple of field goal
tries it would have won the one that could have
won them the game in regulation that had missed earlier,
and then one that could have sent it to a
third overtime. There there was that there was one that
would be a head scratch of the loss to Georgia

(01:48):
State out of some. But they also dealt with prosperity
well following the win over Alabama, going to lexing Kentucky
and beating Kentucky so and they did kind of get
involved in a bit of a sluggish game with Ball
State here last week. Our friend Greg Tepper from Dave

(02:11):
Campbell's Texas Football Magazine would say that Vanderbilt perhaps in
that contest played with its food a little bit, but
they did pull away in the fourth quarter to win
the game, and so they're five and two. There, one
went away from Bowl eligibility, and that would be huge
for the Commodores considering they went two to ten a
season ago. But the road is not an easy place,

(02:35):
and for that matter, the home games not easy either.
The rest of the way. They go to Auburn next week,
then they host South Carolina, might need their best chance
to win a game down the stretch in those final
few weeks. Then following an open date, they go to
LSU and they finished with Tennessee. So tough, tough closing

(02:56):
schedule for Vanderbilt, but they just need one more win
to become Bowl eligible. We mentioned the fact that the
SEC Student Athlete Availability Report was updated and in other words,
the injury report and for Texas, Andrew mccooba still listed

(03:20):
as doubtful, Isaiah Bond downgraded from questionable to doubtful. I
think doubtful's the best way to describe it. I doubt
that we'll see either of those guys on the field tomorrow.
But Sark talked about this on the air on Longhorn Weekly.
Because they are deep at both of those positions, both

(03:40):
at wide receiver on the offensive side and then in
the secondary on the defensive side that they can absorb
a loss and still get quality play on the offensive side. Yes,
Isaiah Bond is their leading pass catcher. He's got twenty
three passes for three hundred eighty yards four touchdowns, averaging

(04:01):
sixteen and a half yards per catch. He's also had
the two big running plays, including one for a touchdown.
So they do lose him if he is unable to go.
And again he's listed as doubtful, so I doubt we
will see him tomorrow, but they've gotten plenty of contributions
from other people. Matthew Golden's only one catch behind Bond
for most catches on the team, and he is averaging

(04:26):
just under fifteen yards per catch. He has three touchdown catches.
DeAndre Moore has now started to explode through. He has
eleven catches, averaging fourteen yards per catch and has scored
three touchdowns. Ryan Wingo, the freshman, may get his first
collegiate start tomorrow. He's caught sixteen passes. He's averaging nineteen
yards per catch with two touchdowns this year. Obviously, Jayden

(04:50):
Blue catching passes out of the backfield He's caught twenty
one passes out of the backfield, their third leading receiver
and has three touchdowns. Of those guys, he would be
actually the fourth leading receiver I mentioned Bond number one,
number one among wide receivers wide receivers leading receiver on
the team is Gunner Helm the tight end. He's got

(05:12):
twenty seven passes for three hundred and seventy three yards
and two touchdowns. He's averaging just under fourteen yards per cat.
So it's not like they don't have weapons. Silas Bowden
has also caught ten passes this season. They have Johntay
Cook who's caught eight passes and a couple of touchdowns
this year. Ryan Niblett obviously can catch passes and then

(05:33):
line up in the backfield as well. I think Trey
Wisner will be okay. In fact, in that player that
Student Athlete Availability report. Good news in that Tray Weisner's
not even listed on the report. That means he's good
to go. He had to be limited in practice him

(05:54):
during the week with that sore shoulder from that hit
he took that Sark certainly thought could have, if not
should have been called a targeting call against Georgia. But
it's good that he's able to go and come off
the injury report, which means he should be ready to
go for Vanderbilt. The one guy who's listed as questionable
as their corner Kolbe Taylor. The other guys had been

(06:17):
either questionable or probable. They're all probable now, Eli Stowers
the tight end linebacker, Langston Patterson running back aj Newberry,
who's the backup to Ceder Calexander. Alexander listed as probable
now when he had been listed as recently as yesterday
afternoon as being questionable. Martell Height cornerback, listed as probable,

(06:39):
Miles Kpler's the edge rusher, is probable, and Linus Sunk
defensive lineman listed as probable. Only zalem Wood defensive lineman,
Mark Davis corner and Grayson Morgan, an offensive lineman, are
ruled out of the game tomorrow afternoon. Of course, our
coverage tomorrow afternoon will begin at hi noon, coming your

(07:03):
way at noon from Twin Peaks down south at Stasney,
and that's where Cameron Parker and also my Cardbowl Hard
and also Mark Henry will set the stage for you.
Now I have to ask you, Cam, you know what
they like to say at Twin Peaks, eats, drinks, scenic views.

(07:30):
Who which of the three of you will be most
consumed with the eats? I think I know the answer
to that. Which one will be most consumed with the drinks?
Which one will be most consumed with the scenic views?

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Well, Mark Henry does not drink. But if you've been
listening to the station, you probably have heard our promo
play a few times where Mark Henry says, I like
the flaps, And to clarify, he's talking about the wings,
y'all the flappers on the wings. So he'll be most
concerent zoomed with the food. Hardball will be most consumed

(08:04):
with the drinks. And then I'm not going to answer
the if there's other people that will be there. Hey,
I'm focused on Vanderbilt, right, I'm focused on Vanderbilt. But
gonna be a fun show again. We'll be live on
thirty five in Statty Twin Peaks location noon to two.
Butt like drink specials. And here's a throwback name for you,

(08:27):
Craig Thomas Baskins, the former Texas Longhorn defensive lineman for California. Yeah,
number ninety will be joining us for our Longhorned Legend segment. Well,
Chip Brown from Horns two four seven, he'll hop on
live from Nashville. Of course, we'll visit with you and
Roger Wallace in the First Bank Stadium Broadcast booth. We'll

(08:50):
get Mike Harges's Keys to the Game, Mark Henry's hype train.
Gonna be a lot of fun. So if you're not
in Nashville looking for a place to pregame, come out
to Twin Peaks.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
I'm glad you got the big field coming out. Thomas
Baskin was one of my early favorites in my time
in the booth there in the early years. You know,
when I started in ninety two as the analyst with
Bill Schoening on the play by play, it was he.
He was one of one of our favorites. He was
always a lot of fun to talk to us. I'm
I'm glad Thomas Baskin will be there for you guys tomorrow.

(09:21):
All right, up next, we're gonna shift gears and talk
some Long Worn basketball. Rodney Terry a segment from last
night's Long wornon Weekly, kind of an overview of this
brand new season with so many new faces and and
yet some very recognizable quality returners as well, as we

(09:42):
continue on this Friday afternoon on sports Radio AM thirteen
under the Zone and the iHeartRadio app.
