Speaker 2 (04:15):
And so the Long Wards with the win run.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Their overall record is seven and one, and Texas is
now three and one in Southeastern Conference play. Vanderbilt falls
to five and three and they are two and two
in SEC competition. Final score year this evening from the
First Bank Stadium in Nashville, the Texas Long Orange twenty seven,
the Vanderbilt Common the Wars twenty and just like that,
(04:40):
the Long Orange are now seven and one overall, three
and one in SEC play and headed into an open
date on the weekend afternoon. Everybody, welcome to the program
here on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
My name is Craig Way. I thank you very much
for joining us.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
I think our producer Cameron Parker put together the highlight
of the Saturday win over the Vanderbilt Commodore was twenty
seven to twenty four was the final score. And that
one in a game where the Loghorns looked at if
you looked at a lot of the numbers statistically had
decided edges. However, there were a couple of stats that
(05:21):
were not in their favor, most notably penalties ten for
one hundred eight yards that didn't help. And even though
they had an edge in the turnover margin, they forced
three turnovers compared to two for Vanderbilt. The log Hoorns
failed to cash in any of those three turnovers. Vanderbilt
cashed in both of those tip passes that were intercepted
(05:43):
into touchdowns, and as a result of that, that game
wound up being closer than a lot of folks were
hoping and wanted it to be. Nevertheless, bottom line a win,
seven and one and they move on into an open
date week on the schedule.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Cameron D.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
Parker, a producer, that he the birth certificate stands for
Dallas Yeah, named after that team that was on the
field in Santa Clara last night that almost almost frustrated
Cowboy fans who had already posted on social media about
how they were sick and disgusted by this team and
they suck. The Cowboys had the football in their possession
(06:24):
with a chance to go down and win the game
in the last three minutes, but they justified the faith
of all of those who were sick and disgusted by
not being able to do that, and San Francisco scored.
That's another example why Cameron Parker doesn't watch the Cowboys
live anymore.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
Just the highlight stuff, right, exactly right. I haven't seen
any highlights from yesterday's game. I did, however, because yesterday
was a fantastic viewing day for NFL football. Watched the
early window of the late window and was like, okay,
I got a meal prep for this week house chores,
went to HB, came back, and my dad had the
(07:04):
game on, so I was in the kitchen. But I
did see the first scoring drive for the Cowboys, Okay.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
I was like, okay, And.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
I sat on Friday Show before you joined us from Nashville,
Craig that with San Francisco's injuries, and I wasn't sure
if Kitto and Deebo were going to play, but if
they didn't, you know, I was feeling bullish on the
Cowboys chances because they're coming off of by McCarthy's usually
pretty good off of buy. I was like, don't count
out the Cowboys in this game, you know. And it
was what seven to three for a moment. My dad's like, okay,
(07:35):
I'm going to the bed. You want to watch, Like,
come on, no, there's no chance.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
Then we got the ten three could have been fourteen three.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Yeah, did my cookie chuck my phone and saw that
it was like a two touchdown deficit. Dack could thrown
two interceptions. Uh, the Jerry Jones family was in a
car crash before the game. That's a really bad omen
a really bad omen And of course it always comes
down to the final possession when the Cowboys in the
forty nine Ers play. I mean, this goes back to
the catch with Dwight Clark, right, It's not just these
(08:02):
games with Jack Prescott. It goes all the way back
to history. For some reason, when these two team, two
teams plays, these two teams play, it always comes down
the final possession. And if you're San Francisco in a
forty nine Ers fan Craig, it's like it does not
matter if you're oing eight four and four or eight
to zero. They just owned the Cowboys at this point,
they just own the Cowboys. I mean, forty nine Ers
(08:25):
needed that win, I think a little bit more than
Dallas because of all the injuries they had going on.
And with everything happening in the NFC West, and they
got that big win. I mean, they had running backs
who look like Maddy, creative players because Jordan Mason goes down,
McCaffrey's still hurt. You got guys like Peyton, Philip Taylor
or someone and Isaac Garnda Grendo.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
I did pick up for my fantasy team last week.
I had already picked up Mason, but it didn't start.
Grinda didn't hurt me because I had Kiddle. So I'm
six and two and on top of the league and
the fantasy thing. But but yeah, Grinda, they're finding guys
to plug in at your point, Yeah, Grenda had a
greight eighty five yards.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
I think the Cowboys are gonna sign ma Reice Jonestrew
this morning.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Take him out of the Rams broadcast. Move he's the
analyst on the Rams broadcast.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
Saw that yesterday and was like, what's the connection with
m j D Because he played in Jacksonville.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
He was briefly with the Rams too, okay, and he's
from UCLA and and DeMarco farr is on the sideline.
It's a big presence on the sidelines for the Rams.
JB Long the play by playvoice of the Rams to
have there, So, yeah, it would be interesting to see
how it goes from there. We will get to recap
(09:35):
in the NFL, and that includes the Texans win that
was air tight, but they got the win of the
Colts and they are sitting on top of the AFC South.
We'll talk about that the rest of the NFL. How
about the end of the Bears and the come goodness
and the guy who posted the video of the Bears
(09:57):
defensive back Stevenson. Yeah, it was goodbye to the Washington fans.
I say, oh, okay, let me get over here in position.
And he's the one who actually tipped the ball that
got caught for the hail Mary. Okay, it's a magical
season for the Commander so far.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
Six and two. I mean, are they America's team at
this point? Ah, that's hard. That's difficult to imagine, don't
you think. Okay, we will have NFL recap. We'll look
at college football through the entirety of the weekend. Because
what there's some teams making statements Texas A and M
(10:33):
you know, making it Notre Dame starting the really Valley
now handed Navy a scorching defeat, Ohio State survived at
home against Nebraska. It's interesting I mentioned this at the
start of our LONGRRNE Monday coverage this morning at eleven o'clock,
that here's Ohio State, number four in the country. They
(10:57):
survive at home against an un rank Nebraska team and
hold the number four spot. Texas at number five on
the road, defeats a Vanderbilt team that they didn't trail
against after that very early touchdown, and then after that
they never trailed against. And yet they drop a spot
beating a ranked team on the road, and they dropped
(11:18):
the spot. But that's the difference in the eyes of
those who are voting on the ap pole, they see
a team that is more vulnerable than the Ohio State team.
We'll find out more about Ohio State this week. We're
going to Happy Valley, so we'll see undefeated Penn State.
Yeah so, and they got pushed for a time by
Wisconsin before they pulled away.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
So anyway, we'll.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
Recap the entire college football weekend. But of course, this
is a long Orange Monday, and we're gonna hear from
longwrt's head coach Steve Sarkeshan from his weekly news conference,
which you heard live in its entirety this morning, but
we'll have some sound bites from it, recapping it coming
up here on sports Radio AM thirteen under the zone
of the iHeartRadio app.
