Back to the Craig Wait Show.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Connect with Craig through the text line by texting Texas

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Standard message and data rates may apply here on this
Monday afternoon.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
On Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred Zone Long WRNE Monday.
But also we talk NFL. Yes, that includes the Cowboys
who got up, got down, had a chance, and went
all of a sudden done. They're three and four. Mike
McCarthy said, we can learn from this. Really, he said, Okay,
that's what he said. Do they not learn from the
forty seven to nine loss to Detroit or the twenty

(00:46):
eight twenty five loss to Baltimore, of the forty four
to nineteen loss of the Saints.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
I guess not.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Well, I learned enough to get within six points actually
ly ten Francisco in the game.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
I guess they did lead in this game because usually
they are by twenty when the game starts.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
They had a chance to go at fourteen to three,
and they couldn't catch it, and they ended up settling
for the field goal to make a ten to three.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
And then after that then yeah, then it was then
it was difficult and they got down. They were down
twenty seven to ten, and then you know, rallied back
after that.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
How about the Texans and the Colts where.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
The uh looked like the Texans had things in hand,
and then the Colts came back and they just kept
fighting back and then pulled them with in three at
the end, Texans were able to hold on and get
the win and that one and they're sitting on top
of the AFC South.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
That was a weird game too. Talk about Texas Vanderbilt
being weird, I mean you have too just really like
dumb turnovers. First, you had Anthony Richardson, who we'll get
to it a second, had an interception inside his own
twenty yard line with thirty seconds to go in the
first half, leads to a Texans touchdown. And then you
have a toss play where the pitch from Stroud the

(02:01):
mixing goes behind him for a moment looked like it
was a fumble six. Good thing it wasn't for Texans
fans is they were able to stop Indianapolis not once
but twice. But Anthony Richardson two of fifteen in the
first half, just an absolutely horrid start. Did have that
one big passing touchdown, had a second one that was dropped,

(02:25):
but two of fifteen in the first half. He has
the run in the fourth quarter when the Colts have
no timeouts left under a minute. Instead of running out
of bounds, he stays in bounds. That drains off a
lot of clock. And then he also checked himself out
of a play because he was too tired. Craig, this

(02:46):
is your starting quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts. I now,
I get he played what he started eight games as
a quarterback before being drafted right right at eight games,
So it's gonna be a big learning curve. He's going
to be raw a long ways to go. I mean,
because he missed last year. You got to give him
this season and then probably next season before you make

(03:07):
a decision. But I mean, what a ride it's been
for the Colts and Anthony Richardson. I have a Colts
fan in my life, and he's just like, yeh, don't
I don't know. I don't think can depend him anymore.
After the want Sam Ellener to play, I don't know.
I mean, who's there. I know Sam's the third string.
Who's the second Well it's Flaco, Flaco, that's right, Yeah,
that's right. So yeah, you want forty five year old

(03:27):
Joe flacka. But for the Texans, hey keep on winning.
You know, Texans, Texas fans, Texas fans, you know, complain
about beating Vanderbilt by only by three, but hey, it's
another win in the wind. Call him and the same
thing for the Texans. You're six and two, you are
leading the AFC South at the moment. You keep stacking
those wins up, and you know, you just get better,

(03:49):
You learn from it and just try and get better
each week. So, uh, frustrating, you know, probably was a
little bit too close for comfort there at the end.
But the sad thing is, what's gonna happen with this
Van Dick? So you're already down Ico Collins, what's the
latest injury update on Stefan Dicks, who looked like took
a non contact knee injury.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
Colts coach Shane steike In today said he is evaluating
the quarterback situation, but he indicated that Richardson's decision to
ask out of the game for that play in the
third quarter will not be a factor in his decision making.
He was ten of thirty two four hundred and seventy
five yards. He said, we're evaluating everything. And then he said,

(04:29):
is he's still the starter? He said right now today,
Yeah he is. Yes, that's where that's where it is.
And Flacco's only thirty nine, he's not forty five. He's
thirty nine years old. Hey, he might be batter than
Aaron Rodgers. I'll just say that right now. Yeah, well
he did not look good. Jets did not look good
against the Patriots yesterday. I guess everybody thought that that one.

(04:50):
And and you know, of course, you know the Giants,
they have Daniel Jones and the issues in they play
the Steelers tonight. But Dave Brian da Ball, the coaches,
he's not gonna have a quick cook with him, said
the reason why he had Drew Lockman, and he said
it was just looking for a spark, which didn't happen.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
So that's where it is.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
Is.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
The Giants will play the Steelers tonight, Monday night football game.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
No man cast, so it'll be Joe Buck and Troy Aikman.
Which the man thing is probably want to watch the
World Series. Yeah they don't. They want to. They want
to watch Steelers Giants.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
So and then, uh, this interesting thing of the.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
The Broncos beat the Panthers twenty eight to fourteen. Now
does that sound like somebody's trying to run up to
score on somebody? No? Uh.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
The Broncos were at twenty eight seven in the fourth
quarter and he attempted a fake field goal on what
would have been a sixty yard field goal by will
Watch who does have the like for that, by the way,
And later in the quarter Courtland Sutton, the wide receiver,
completed a fourth down pass to Michael Burton to keep
a drive going.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
J C.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
Horn approach Porton on Peyton on the field at the
game a brief, heated exchange and could be seen on
video telling Peyton to the Broncos were trying to run
up the score, saying the fourth quarter plays were disrespectful.
Horn later said it wasn't necessarily directed at him, He
just tended to be standing near Peyton. I just felt like, personally,
I ain't going to speak for everybody else. They had

(06:34):
a fake field goal and the double screen pass the
fourth quarter on fourth down, and they had every right
to do that, but I'm allowed to have.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
My opinion on that too. I felt it was disrespectful.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
So after the game was going back and forward with
the players and coach Payton just kind of got in
the middle of it.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
There's no banner back and forth between us.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Dave Canalis, the Panthers coach, said the fake field will
tell us their decision to make as the Broncos were
trying to clock out the game.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Peyton today said this was the actual quote. I know,
I know, I know, I know, I know, I know six.
I knows six, I knows.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Does he know? Listen, I said it last night. We're
trying to finish the game the right way. We're not
trying to run up to score on anyone. It's a
Nashville Football League. I've been in.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
Games with a twenty point lead the fourth court and lost,
So we're trying to finish play better.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
It might be a little unus.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
It's a twenty eight to seven games at that point. Listen,
I don't think anybody's trying to run up score on anybody.
When you when your total score is in the twenties,
check back with me if it's in the forties or
high thirties. Come on, I don't think so either. Now,
if the Lions were doing fake field goals up fifty two.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
To the fourteen teams on the Titans different issue, but
they weren't. They were getting their touchdowns and stuff on big,
gigantic chunk plays and kick returns and plump returns and
all that stuff because the Titans were just feckless.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
They just couldn't defend that stuff. So Scott Hansen and
red Zone couldn't keep up. I mean, there's one.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
Point where Lions had like like three touchdowns. It felt
like in a sixty seconds. Yeah, and it was Mason
Rudolph looking like prime Brett Farv, either dropping in beautiful
passes to Calvin Ridley or throwing interceptions. Oh boy, Well,
since you did.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
Bring up Brett Brett far not Brett Farv, I was
gonna say Aaron Rodgers that you brought up earlier.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
Oh oh man, Yeah, uh.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
He was seventeen to twenty eight, two hundred thirty three
yards and two touchdowns was his deal. Garret Wilson called
five passes for one hundred thirteen yards. But the Patriots
beat the Jets. The Jets defense, which has been good
during most of the season, was not yesterday to lose
to that Patriots team that now, thanks to New England's win,
both the Patriots and Jets are brought to two and six.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Overall two and six, and if you compared the roster's
side by side, Craig, I don't think anybody would go, yeah,
give give me the Pats, Give me the Pats, give
me Kayshawn Boody, Taekwon Thornton, shout out Baylor, Austin Hooper, Tomorrow,
Douglass over the Jets receiving core of Garrett Wilson, de Fonte, Adams,
Tyler Conklin, Exavier Gibson. But what happens to England somehow

(09:10):
gets a win after you know, Jerrodd Mayo called the
team soft, and you could tell by the way the
Patriots defense reacted after shutting down the Jets that they
really wanted that game. And how about Jakobe Prissett, who
is bench per Drake may comes in because make It's injured.
He ends the game with a higher QBR than Rogers.
Now I know Rogers is you know, he's probably playing

(09:31):
through some injuries here. But this is the Jets team
that what a disaster of a year two and six.
I mean, I don't know they're going to even come
close to making the playoffs with all the money they
have put in big, yikes big.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Okay, So let's see if we could pick out seven
playoff teams from each conference right now. In the AFC East,
Bills are six and two. Then he got Dolphins two
and five, Patriots two and six, Jets.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
Two and six. I only see one there, see Buffalo.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
Now, if TUA can stay healthy, can Miami kind of
can they get the eight nine wins?

Speaker 1 (10:03):
Okay? So right now we'll just say Buffalo. Okay.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
North Steelers five and two, Ravens five and three, Bengals
three and five, Browns two and six.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
At least two right with Steelers and Ravens used to
go that for the moment.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
South Texans six and two, Colts four and four, Jags
two and six, Titans one and six.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
Let's say Texans for now. We'll come back, okay.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
West Chiefs seven to zero, Broncos five and three, Chargers
four and three, Raiders.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
Two and six.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
I think the Chiefs and Chargers out of the two.
Do you like the Chargers? I can't. I can't say Denver.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
At five and three. You can't say that, not yet
with BONICKX, I just I can't put. I mean, is
looking good? So we're at five teams.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Well, if we add either the Chargers or Broncos, let's
let's leave them out. So that's five right now, So
two playoff spots to fill between the Broncos, Chargers, Colts, Bengals,
and then maybe Dolphins.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
Dolphins. That's tough. Yeah, Okay, NFC.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
In the East, you got Commanders six and two, Eagles
five and two, then Cowboys three and four, Giants.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
Do and five. Yeah, I see Commanders, Eagles.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
Okay, North Lions six and one, Packers six and two,
Vikings five and two, Bears four and three.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
Lions, Packers for sure.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
I'm getting a little bit worried about Minnesota since they're
losing their uh it's a tackle dearsol.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
Right, we'll hold four for the moment. South Falcons five
and three, Bucks four, four Saints two, six Panthers one,
seven Falcons. Yeah, West, good luck with this.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
Cardinals are four and four of the forty nine. Ers
are four and four of the Seahawks are four and four.
Rams are three and four. I kind of like the
Rams the most.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
I think you're only getting one out of that. I'm
gonna tell you right now.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
I think San Francisco, if they can get McCaffrey back,
they'll be okay, that's tough though, that's tough.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
That's sixteen.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
That's six so see, I would put the Vikings in
this promon so yeah, I think, yeah, it's Cowboys aren't
making it with their schedule coming up New York.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Yes, so it's got to be between the Vikings.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
Yeah, and then any of three from the NFC West
other than the champion, right, Probably not.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
We'll be back to wrap up our number two on
Sports twenty A. Have thirteen under the zone
