big Arch burger that will one of the McDonald's is
(00:42):
going to bring, and I said, I knows, maybe that's an.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Nil thing, you know, for arch manning in the future.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Somebody asked, so is the big Arch considered a backup
burger now hasn't arrived yet and arrived yet.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
That's maybe McDonald's is just waiting till next year when
Arch Banning is the start before they unveil it in America.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Craig g I mean think about it, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Yeah, it's working in Canada and Germany and Portugal. Maybe
it's maybe it'll be coming in soon.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
Our man CB says, you brought up election day. Today
was the first time I voted as a Washingtonian because
Member CB is in the PNW now Pacific Northwest. The
first president presidential election I voted in since twenty sixteen.
I didn't vote in twenty twenty. My dad had passed
and we were in the process of moving. So good
on UCB. I early voted today.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
I did and got through the process.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
It was a little bit of a delay that there's
a lot of enthusiasm with the early voting. I just
I wanted to get my ballot done because remember Election Day,
and you haven't to what I guess, Friday to early
vote if you want to, and Election Day we will
have just returned during the late night on a flight
(02:05):
from Las Vegas, landing in the wee hours of the
morning of election Day because we've got the game, the
basketball game coming up next next Monday night in Las Vegas.
So I wanted to make sure I handle my business
in terms of the voting and got that and got that.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Done for them all right. I mentioned.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
That we'd had a college football note or two to
pass along, and this is something that we've been doing
every week, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that we're going
to update it again. And it's one week from today.
Not only is one week from to day election day.
As we pointed out, one week from the day is
(02:51):
the first college Football Playoff rankings of the year. Now,
given the fact that the long Wards are not playing
a game this Saturday, they have an open date on
the schedule, I would say it's probably a pretty safe
bet they're in the top five of the College Football
Playoff rankings. When you think caam that they'd probably be
(03:12):
in the top five right now.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
I would think they would either be yeah, I would
think they'd be at five directly, I would think the
four or five range.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
I'm really curious what they would think.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Well, and remember, and this is going to be something
that folks, I think are going to have to be
constantly reminded of.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
And I don't think this is going to be the case.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
I'll know for sure because I've got a couple of
questions about how the committee is going to rank the
playoff teams at least early on, and we'll hear from
Rich Clark, who he is the executive director of the
College Football Playoff and He's going to join us on
the show on Thursday, by the way, but Rich is
(03:55):
supposed to explain in a video zoom tomorrow and I'm
in on that to listen to him and explain some
of the process. Here's where I'm going with this. As
we know, the playoff will include, for automatic bid purposes.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
The five five, not four, the five.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Highest ranked conference champions, five highest ranked conference champions. It
is assumed that the top four of which who will
get a buye, will all be from power for conferences,
and I think it's a pretty safe assumption. Pretty safe,
so probably the Big ten, the SEC, the ACC, and
(04:48):
the Big twelve would champions.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Would all draw first round bys.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Then five through twelve would be seated after that to
play first round matchups. Five would host twelve, six would
host eleven, seven would host ten, and eight would host nine,
and then the bracket goes out from that.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
They do not receive the bracket. What I'm curious to
see is.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
How those rankings shake down in that even though we
know that the four top ranked teams, those four highest
ranked conference champions will draw bys, will they vote it
that way in the first rankings next week or are
(05:33):
they just going to go, hey, these are the four
best teams right now, here's where I'm going with this. Obviously,
if Georgia is number two and Texas, to your point,
Cameron winds up being number four, we know that only
one of those is going to be in the top four.
So depending on how it goes and who wins the
SEC championship in Texas, A and M certainly may well
have something to say about that. LSU Tennessee they'll have
(06:01):
good shots as well. So anyway, I'm curious to see
how this shakes down. Despite the fact that only those
four conference champions are gonna draw bys and then the
fifth one probably almost certainly a group.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Of five champion.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
A G five conference champion's probably gonna be slotted in
at number twelve because that's in the bylaws there.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
They're guaranteed a bid.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
But if they're not rated high, it's possible Boise State
could be higher up than that.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
But are they eleven and the eight people? I think
that's right.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
I think Heather Dinich, looking at her college football projections YEP,
also had Boise State well at eleven. I'm curious, Craig
what the committee thinks of the SEC teams and what
they think of Oregon's win over Ohio State, because I
would argue that the best winning college football is Georgia
over Texas. Now, I know they have that one lass
(06:56):
and the undefeated stuff, but I wouldn't argue there is
an argument rather that Georgia could be number one.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
There are those who would do that. Speaking of Heather Dinach,
this is for projected twelve team bracket. She has now
her seating is based on a projected top twelve from
the committee on a bracket, not how they would be
ranked currently.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
Okay, which is so consioned.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
I know.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
That's why I continue to remind folks this. The bracket
will be different because the top four are all going
to be conference champions. So there's no way that Georgia
and Texas can both be in the top four. There's
no way that Georgia and A and M can be
in the top four. There's no way that A and
M and Texas can be in the top four. Only
(07:47):
one from the SEC can be in the top four.
All right, Her projection as Oregon number one, Georgia number two,
Miami number three, and by U number four.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Those are the four Power four.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Conference champions that she's projecting Oregon win the Big Ten,
Georgia win the SEC, Miami to win the ACC, b
YU to win the Big twelve. Now keep this in mind,
Oregon is, by her projection right now, the number one seed.
If Oregon gets in the Big Ten championship game and
say lose as a rematch.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
To Ohio State or heaven forbid, Indiana. Oh, if it
should get there, Indiana.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Yeah, yeah, if it were to happen, or Penn State
or Penn State. If it were to happen, Oregon wouldn't,
like in pastures, only drop one or two or at
the most three spots and still be in that fourteen playoffs.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
No, they'd drop out of the top four.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
The conference champion would replace them in the top four
drawing a bye. Now they might only fall to five,
but they would drop out of the top four. So again,
she's got Oregon, Georgia, Miami, and b YU in your
top four. Then in the twelve to five matchup, he's
got Penn State is the five, Tennessee is the twelve.
(09:04):
Then on that same side of the bracket, the eight
seed she has his Texas A and m the nine Indiana.
Then in the six and eleven matchup. She's got Ohio
State against Clemson, and the seven versus ten Texas against
Boise State.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Ten, She's got she goes.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
This one is interesting because if Texas wins his first
round game, they'd have a rematch with Georgia. Texas and
Georgia could also play for the SEC championship. While possible,
it's unlikely they would play each other three times because
if they were in the SEC title game, the Lousier
would have two losses and probably not earn the first.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
Round home game.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
It's a good point Boise State seeding in this example
matches its ranking, and the Broncos, as the top champion
from the group of five, wouldn't have to displace any
team in the committee's top twelve because they were already
ranked within it. That's a very important thing to keep
in mind that if they're already in that top twelve,
they're not knocking out one of the quote unquote last
(10:02):
one in or last two inning. She has last two
in being Clemson, the eleven and Tennessee. The twelve, first
four out Notre Dame top of the list, Iowa State,
Kansas State, and Alabama, and then the next four oh
miss LSU, Pitt and SMU. Interesting. Pitt and SMU of
course plays Saturday night in Dallas, Big Game, Huge Jam.
(10:24):
Apparently not big enough for ESPN to displace an SEC game.
It's on a ACC network that's got a lot of
people grumbling about that.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
What could be really interesting here, Craig is, for instance,
the ACC, Like say Clemson loses to and who they
love in Pittsburgh before the season ends or somebody else.
Then they beat Miami in the College and the a
SEC Championship. They're in either as a three or four possibly,
(10:56):
but you think Miami stays in because that would be
their first loss. Of Miami remains undefeated, so kind of
just like an at large bid. Right, It's gonna be
the same thing with the college football playoff where all
of a sudden, maybe Tennessee team that might be number twelve,
and maybe they don't make the SEC Tower Game, so
they can't have a chance to bolster their record or
get that automatic berth. Maybe they're knocked out. Could be
(11:19):
the same thing with the Big twelve. Right, maybe BYU
remains undefeated and Iowa State and Iowa State because they
don't play each other, right, correct, But then say, whatever reason.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
I don't know. There's just so much could happen here.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
Where, although I think there's a very by her estimation,
what you're saying is true. Let's say by you and
Iowa State both go twelve and zero and they meet.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
In Dallas or Arlington. You don't leave both.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Out, No, because the winner's gonna win the Big Twelve championship,
So they're gonna get a boy.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Do you lose a loser out? I mean the loser
of that game? According to this, she got them out.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
She got Iowa stayed out, she said, I always state.
And here's why Iowa State is eighty sixth in ESPN's
Strength of Schedule B. WHYU is fifty five B WHYU
currently leads with a thirty three percent chance to win
the Big Twelve, followed very closely by Iowa State. According
to ESPN Analytics. She has Kansas State on the outside logan,
(12:15):
she's the loss to B. Why you was holding them
back here? But the Wildcats keep finding ways to win,
including Saturday against feisty rival Kansas. The win against the
two loss buffs looks even better now that they're Bowl eligible.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Colorado. Yeah, case State's winning for Colorado, for sure.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
Colorado has a pretty simple schedule. They could win out
and not make the big twelve time game. That's exactly
en nin ten wins.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
Yep, yep. Well, and you could have that with Alabama.
This is the first time a two loss team is
crept into this category, but one more teams have two
losses and two Alabama finally put together an impressive performance
against a decent Missouri team. The November ninth trip to
LSU is the last remaining chance to impress the committee
for Alabama, she writes, So anyway, there's some college much fun.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
People were against expansion.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
Shame on you. You've heard me from the start say
more and more. I want sixteen. Get rid of those buys.
Let everybody there was sixteen team bracket?
Speaker 2 (13:15):
Why not? All right? Uh?
Speaker 1 (13:17):
Coming up, we'll hear more from Jerry Jones. Will we
continue on Sports Radio AM thirteen hunderd The Zone
