Speaker 1 (00:00):
Craig Wade, joined by the producer Cameron Parker. Glad to
have you with us as well. We earlier visit with
Greg Tepper, managing EDR Dave Campbells Texas Football Magazine to
talking about college football in the state of Texas. It was,
as he said, that was a big win for Baylor.
They've won three in a row now, so now they're
five and four, three and three in the Big Twelve.
(00:20):
And TCU, which has been slumping of late, as five
and four and three and three, there's going to be
a get well game for somebody this week, either tc
or Oklahoma State. And Oklahoma State, as I read that
story earlier, is now three and six. They've lost all
six Big Twelve games, and Mike Gundy took to kind
(00:41):
of finger pointing at his fans for finger pointing at
them for the program falling.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Oh boy. And so they'll play.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
In Fort Worth on Saturday, and Oklahoma State has no
margin left for error left. They have to win the
remaining three games to get Bowl l eligible or they
will be non Bowl eligible for the first time in
like nineteen years. TCU needs one more win to get
Bowl eligible. There's that so anyway, there's some of those now.
(01:12):
I ran over some of this trade deadline stuff. Marcus
Lattimore going to the Commanders from the Saints. He's been
banged up, but that definitely could help them. Mike Williams
the receiver going to Pittsburgh. And they also got Preston
(01:32):
Smith from the Packers for help along the defensive front,
so I think that probably helps them. The Rams traded
a corner in Tredavious White who hadn't really played for
them this year. He'd been banged up and they picked
him up from Buffalo, but he hadn't really done anything
for them. Kitchens is the guy who's really done stuff.
He had the two interceptions the other including that one
hundred three yard pick six with the NFC West is
(01:56):
just a mess, isn't it. With the Cardinals one of
the Bears on Sunday, so they're leading.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
They're five and four for the first time since twenty
twenty one.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Wow, And then you have the the Rams are four
and four. What the forty nine ers are four and
four and the Seahawks are four and five.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
They've lost two straight and things are things are starting
to fall off the rails there and that one there
only came back for him, came out of first.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
That's the whole point of that deal.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
And again, we do this every week, so I'm gonna
do it to you right now, Cam and say, if
AFC Buffalo is seven and two, Jets three and six,
Dolphins two and six, Patriots two and seven, do you
see anybody other than Buffalo getting into the postseason?
Speaker 3 (02:45):
I think I said, maybe Miami, New York. I think
I'm just gonna go Buffalo. Okay, all right, Buffalo.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
In the North, Pittsburgh is six and two, Baltimore six
and three, Cincinnati's four and five after getting thumped by
the Eagles, and the Browns are two and seven.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
I think, obviously you're gonna put Pittsburgh and Baltimore in there.
I think since he maybe as that seventh seed, perhaps.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Okay, all right.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
In the South you have Houston six and three, the
Colts four and five, Titans two and six, Jacks two
and seven, I think just the Texans right now, okay.
And then in the West you have the Chiefs eight
and oh, Chargers five and three, Broncos five and four,
Raiders two and.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Seven, Chiefs obviously, and then you think one of those
Chargers of Broncos teams will make it. So I think
with that, you got what that would be seven if
you get one of those two. Yeah, so seven with
the Bengals. Okay, So I think I feel good about that. Okay,
feel good about that.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
NFC, Hey, Commanders are seven and two, three, Eagles are
six and two, Cowboys three and five, and the Giants
two and.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
Seven, probably the Commanders and Eagles.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Okay, North Lions seven and one for the first time
since nineteen fifty six, Vikings are six and two, Packers
six and three, Bears four and four.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
You gotta go to like Lions obviously Vikings and then
probably the Packers. So that's that's three layoff teams right there,
just like the AFC North perhaps.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Okay, so that's five.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Now South Falcons are six and three, Bucks four and five,
Panthers two and seven, Saints.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
Two and so you think with this three game losing
strenk for Tampa Bay, I mean, I think I would
have gone for two last night, Craig before overtime. You know,
when you're on the road, go for two. When you're
at home, pick the extra point. I think Atline is
gonna run away with this division and then in yeah,
just the Falconka and.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
In the West Cards five and four Rams, four and
four Niners, four and four Seahawks.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
For I have no idea. I really don't.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
The division winner, we'll get the we'll get the last
remaining playoff spot that you're mentioning there.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
I mean, out of those four teams, only San Francisco
has a positive point differential. Now the three teams negative
RAMS minus twenty four.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
I didn't really they took. They took some beads earlier
the team.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
If McCaffrey comes back and Deebo gets healthy, I think
San Francisco can do it. But if they don't, I
feel good about your Rams, Craig. I mean Stafford. The
throw Stafford made in that game were diabolical. I mean
that last throw when it looked like it was gonna
be intercepted by the Seahawks dB. I think it was
the Marcus Robinson or the too he's the receiver, Yeah,
(05:14):
he was a receiver. Yeah, he came in and that
that was a beautiful ball. And then of course the
game winner of the Robinson as well, also just a
fantastic throw.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
So one of those are going to make that.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
I just just want to still know that that minus
twenty four for the Rams thirty one. They were a
minus thirty. Remember they got beat by the Cardinals forty
one to ten in Arizona. And the Rams still ever
rematch with him. They still have to play in Santa
Clara against the forty nine ers and they have the
Seahawks at home, so they they think that's going to
go down into the last week.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
There'll be a survivor out of that deal.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
That last playoff spot would be like trying to figure
out the SEC tie breakers for the conference championship game.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Just good luck.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
Yeah, And there's a lot of folks trying to figure
that out. And I've mentioned that, you know it, it
can change over time. I know what it looks like
if it were to end right now, but it can
change depending on how teams finish and what their strength
(06:16):
to schedule looks like, and what and what the other
team's common opponents did down the stretch. That's why it's
up in the air right now. That's why there's not
a you know, a clear thing. I think it's pretty
safe to say. I think a lot of folks figure
that George is going to get in there as long
(06:38):
as they don't lose it Ole Miss or lose it
home to Tennessee. You know, and they played Georgia Tech.
It's rivalry games. They should be able to handle their
business on that.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
If George and LSU win this weekend, it's it's a
clearer picture. They're the front runners. But if Georgia loses,
now you got a two loss Georgia team.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
If if l.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Shue loses the Bama then now you have a two
loss LSU team, in a two loss Alabama team, two
loss Georgia team, hopefully a one lost Texas team, a
one loss A and M team. It's gonna get crazy,
but we'll have a better picture after this week.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
That's true, it'll and we post these questions that had
their dinnige.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
But who's the best one loss team? You think it's
Ohio State? I do.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
I think it's Georgia. Oh that's right, you said Georgia.
I'm sorry, you think Georgia is the best one lost team. Okay?
And you know, and here's another question. This is this
is worth discussing. Where are the second best teams from
the ACC and the Big twelve?
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Do they exist? Well?
Speaker 1 (07:42):
I think the ACC is easier to figure out, because
I think the top two have separated themselves now because
of Clemson's loss to Louisville, and it's a downhill run
for SMU to get to Charlotte for the a SEC
Championship game, and I think it's a downhill run for Miami.
So I think that that's gonna be your top two.
(08:02):
Although not only did Heather Dinich project this, but I
think the athletic projected that in these first standings that
are gonna be released tonight, SMU will not be in
the top twelve.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
For that, they still have some work to do.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
They're gonna have to win the ACC pretty much, or
you know, went out and then maybe get some help
to be considered an at large, went out and win
the ACC, they're gonna get in the playoff, although if
that happens, there's a decent chance the Boise may be
rated higher than an ACC champion SMU and boys. He
(08:41):
would get a boy and then SMU would you know,
would be in the playoff, but they wouldn't get a
buy that first week. So but she asked the question,
second best teams in the ACC in the Big twelve,
and she said with with Iowa stayed in Kansas State
losing on Saturday, the Big Twelves chance to send multiple
teams to the playoff off dropped from forty eight percent
(09:04):
to twenty three percent. The ACC still has a fifty
five percent chance to send two teams to the playoff
based on a strong season so far from SMU, which
is helping compensate for Clemson's loss. So how impressed as
the committee been with SMU to this point? Or two
lost Colorado, which could still win the Big Twelve, Keep
(09:24):
that in mind. Remember Colorado, I think closes the regular season.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
It's pretty favorableok I just looked. It's like Utah, they
don't have it, but they play in Lubbock. They do
play in Lubbock.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
But I can't remember if it's the I think the
Utah game is the last game of the season, so
maybe it's it's their third out of the last four games.
It's their third game, yep, pull up their schedule. Okay, yeah,
next to last for them and at Tech this week
Colorado is so it's this week Okay.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
Home for Utah at Kansas and then the end the
season again it's Oklahoma State.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
The last two or should be wins so the next
two weeks are the tellers for Colorado.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Boy, what if Colorado ends up? I mean, ESPN would
melt down. They'd be so excited, they would they would
be so excited, real real quick, Craig. If you're a
Texas fan trying to figure out how can they get
into the SEC talent game, who you should be rooting
for this week? You are Old Miss fans and you're
Alabama fans. Because if Georgia or LSU loses one more
(10:30):
game the regular season, in Texas wins out, the Longhorns
are playing in Atlanta.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
If one of them does, if one of them does, yeah,
let me also say this if Alabama does win and
Old Miss does win, and say Georgia beats Tennessee and
Texas A and M beats Texas. Oh my head spinning.
(10:58):
If those things happen. None of them were that far fetched,
but it would take the combination. It's got parlay right,
And I'm not a guy who does the wagering thing,
but if you went parlay on that, now, wrap your
mind around this. Cam Okay, Georgia wins out, okay, which
(11:20):
includes beating Tennessee, handing them a second loss, which includes
beating No, they don't win out they lose too, Ole
Miss okay. So now Georgia with two losses, Tennessee with
two losses, Ole Miss with two losses, Alabama beats LSU,
they each have two losses, and A and M beats
(11:40):
Texas and they all have two losses. Nobody has one
loss at that point. What a mess that would be Georgia, Alabama, Texas,
Ole Miss, LSU, Tennessee, a six way tie for first place.
(12:01):
Think about that for a moment. If those things happened
like that, a sixth way tie for first with uneven
amounts of head to head matchups because not everybody played
every Texas does not play Tennessee, they don't play Ole Miss,
they don't play l s U.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
So in that scenario, to be Alabama or LU in
really so, there's a way where it could be seven teams. Craig,
Who's who's the seventh Bama, L s U, Georgia, A
and M, Texas, Ole Miss, Tennessee.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Bama, Ole Miss, Georgia, l s U, Texas, Tennessee. Who
I'm leaving out? That's six, that's the six.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
Islands, Tale, Miss and Georgia, LSU, Bama, te maybe I
left out.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
A and M Bama Ole, Miss Tennessee, Georgia, L s
U Texas Texas A and M seventh way tie. Did
you go to that thing? Yeah, we were doing last year.
What's that little uh that little motor it's his account
is like m red fifty three on Twitter. It's like
(13:03):
it's b ball dot not nothing dot net.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Yeah, I remember.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
Okay, so you put all that stuff in there and
generated the seven way tie.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
Yeah, and it's Alabama and LSU.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
Now of course this could be okay, Okay, it's not
from the SEC.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
No, But I trust that dude. He had it right
last year was going on. I mean, look, dude is
living in his mom's basement. Okay, he's just figuring this
stuff out, all right. He's got a big bag of
Cheetos down there and a big grape soda and he's
just diving into it. Okay, he'll figure out who's going
to be in the SEC Championship. We just have to
(13:41):
trust the dude in the basement with the bag of
Cheetos and the grape soda just saying all right, we're
gonna hear from start coming up on sports Radio AM
thirteen under the zone,
