Texas to eight one five three zero, followed by your message.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Standard message and data rates may apply.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
All right, here's a question for you, Cam. Can you
tell me the name of the Division two college? Actually
they're transitioning and they have I beg pardon FCS transitioning
in the FCS and eventually Division one basketball. Say in Commerce, Texas,
(00:46):
Can you tell me the name of the college there?
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Would it just be Texas A and M Commerce the laws?
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Yes, Now that's part one. Here's part two. That was
the first Texas game I did women's basketball. That's right,
And you got in the car crash in the car,
there's right. Do you know what the original name of
the school was?
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Man, you know what? I believe?
Speaker 2 (01:08):
I actually sait it on the broadcast and did you
really Yep? It was East Texas State. Yes, we're one
of the greatest Dallas Cowboy defensive linemen graduated from Harvey Martin.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
He was from East Texas.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Okay, so they've been and M Commerce for a while.
They're dropping the Commerce changing their name. It became official
today during its quarterly meeting, the Texas A and M
University System Board of Regents voted to change the name
of Texas A and M University commerce too, East Texas
(01:42):
A and M, like West Texas A and M. You
know the one up and the panel that used to
be West Texas State one in Canyon. It's going by
East Texas A and M. The Chancellor John Sharp said,
and I agree with this quote. This is long overdue
and it returns to the original tradition of E T
as the university's symbol while raising its prominence. This university
(02:03):
has always been bigger than one town in Texas. So
East Texas A and M they will hence falls, they
will be known as East Texas A and M. On
a John Cougar Mellencamp then, huh, John Cougar Mellencamp, because
then he dropped the Cougar, just went by John Mellencamp,
(02:25):
you know, and changed his name. Yeah, it was first
first he was John Cougar, then it was John Cougar Mellencamp.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Okay, and then then for a while he was just Mellencamp.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Now that's going back to John Mellencamp, which kind of
makes sense. He's good to see in concert. Have you
ever seen him in concert?
Speaker 3 (02:39):
I'm not.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
I'm actually, if we did the music survey, I might
change him to the most overrated.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Oh ridiculous. I'm not a Mellencamp fan at all. Okay, okay,
all right, Jack.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
And Diane worst thing I've ever heard? Did not stand
Jack and Diane?
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Brother?
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Or you're staying with Pink Houses. I don't think I
know that one. Oh you would know it, then I
probably also have to stain for it. Pink Houses. Yeah,
you gonna pull it up, John Cougar Mellen Camp hurts
so good, disgusting. I hate that song, Pink Houses. Did
you find it?
Speaker 3 (03:18):
Yeah? Play it?
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Play fel there's probably gonna be a Liberty Mutual forty
second advertisement really coming up?
Speaker 3 (03:24):
So he is.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
He was honored at Indiana University the same week Game
Day was.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Yeah he was, Yeah he was.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Oh it's it's an official music video, so this is
there you go. He was filmed in Austin, Indiana. I
didn't know there was an Austin Indiana either.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
So it doesn't sound familiar yet.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
It sounds like every other other one of those songs
puts out all right, listen to this.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
Man Oh yeah, I know this song.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
He's got in the stage on it through his front child.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
You know what any think thinks? It's gotta makes good. Yeah,
it's so good at the Interstate running through his front yard.
Speaker 4 (04:10):
You know, Netlemona in the cas.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Dealing out the evening slope.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
And he looks shutter, he says, hey, dolling, I can
remember when you go from Starving Flower. Here's the chorus,
Oh dude, ain't boun and Barry Flower, you wind me,
ain't down of Barry bar someone to sea, babe.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Ain't din of Barry, hold on freeze a little friend garls.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
This is where he gets rocking.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
So you know, only you know better than hurts so
good and Jack and Diane give you that.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
It's a little bit more of an American anthem. Yeah,
I just I don't know. I just don't like his sound.
I don't know. I don't care. I'm sorry to offend you.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
If you're a big I am a fan of fang.
I saw him at the Urine Center. Is good, it's good.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
He's still turning. I think out there it's.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
A big, big, real tight with Willie Nelson. By the way,
Oh boy, they helped create farm Aid because he cares
about farm aid. Yeah, the concert series when they were
trying to help all the farmers, that's a real thing.
You ever heard of farm aids Okay? I remember Live
Aid Okay, it was an offshoot of Live as Farming.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
You're so young, Okay, farm Maid.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
If I ask you this question, it's a band playing
at emos to stop it.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
Uh uh. This was a Heather Dinni's question.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
I put it to you who will be the last
meeting team between Oregon, Miami, BYU, Indiana and Army. This
included going into the Differens Championships are after let's just
say going into the conference champions I would say Miami
most likely. Well, what's Oregon schedule? Me pull up Oregon schedule.
I think it's I think it's a cruise.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
From here Maryland.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Wisconsin has got a bunch of injuries in Washington, so yeah, Oregon,
because Miami's had a little had some close calls. So
think it would be Oregon and Miami both will probably yeah,
probably be that.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
You think Army will lose to Notre Dame.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Yeah, And then looking at by u's upcoming schedule, they
still have Utah home for Kansas at Arizona State, who's
got maybe the most underrated running back with the best
name in college football Skataboo Kim's Kataboo Skataboo. And then
home for Houston.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Houston, by the way, beat Kansas State is best week
they did. How about the cap they did and that
damaged Kansas State and the Big twelve terms of the playoff.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
All the text lines when he said, hey, I just
saw that Pony Pony Express documentary as it was called
Pony Excess. It's fun to watch Ron Myers knows actually
grow in five gs. That's that's a pretty compelling ESPN
thirty for thirty. If you haven't seen Pony Excess, and
then somebody else had come in on.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
You, youth is wasted on the young gem dot ag. So
there you go.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
All right, let's let's let's hear from Longhorn's head coach
Steve Sarkisian in discussing this matchup with the Florida Gators.
But first of all, he was asked, does he change
I think I already said this though, the one about
the lagway, But here's what here what Here's what I
(07:40):
wanted to say. How does he keep the team focused
on the singular game while not losing sight of the
overall goal which he set all loong is to reach
the SEC championship game.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
Yeah, I think we always try to recognize, you know,
what the end goal is and then and then kind
of leave it there and then work my way back
to what's happening today.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
Right.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
We use the adage be where your feet are.
Speaker 5 (08:06):
Okay, what are you doing today to put yourself in
position for that end result? What are you going to
try to do Saturday? Put to put yourself in position
for that end result. So we really just focus on
the task at hand. We really want to make sure
that we play our brand, our style of football. We
all we use the adage you know that the games
(08:27):
in November the ones they remember, And so you know,
how are we going to play Saturday? How are we
going to start this this November runoff? This phase three
of the season off at eleven am kick, and so
there's a lot to talk to this game. It's an
eleven am kick, is the first one we've had since
Week two. It's a home game at eleven am, and
so our schedule adjusts a little bit, So there's a
(08:49):
lot to talk to that way that I don't have
to talk to too much about the end result right now,
because I think we all kind of know the mission
that we're on now. The focus is really on what
do we need to do today, what do we need
to do this week to continue that journey.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Then he was asked about the challenge that Desmond Watson,
who's a nose tackle.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
For the Florida Gators.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
If you haven't heard about Desmond Watson, Desmond Watson is
six feet five inches tall. He weighs, according to Florida
Media Relations, four hundred and forty nine pounds four hundred
and forty nine pounds, and Sark was asked about him, say, Hey,
(09:39):
that four hundred and forty pound dude. You know Desmond Watson.
How do you deal with him?
Speaker 3 (09:45):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (09:45):
They listening for forty nine, not even for forty and
that might be generous.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
I don't know. I'm fired. I recruited him in high
school and I.
Speaker 5 (09:54):
Remember vividly going to Armwood High School with Coach Banks
and seeing him in person.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
It's like, Wow, that is a really big person.
Speaker 5 (10:03):
But but the thing about him, he's got suddenness, he's
got quickness, and uh, He's not like a guy that
just stands there and you know, puts his arms out
in two gaps of center or something they call movements,
they call pressures with pressures with him, and so I
think that's one of the things that could that can
cause you issues. It's like trying to go to hit
(10:26):
somebody and you just know you're winding up and you've
got to hit this guy. You think he's a stationary
target and he's not, and then he gets on an
edge and he gets a tackle for a loss.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
And so I think.
Speaker 5 (10:35):
We've really got to, you know, trust our fundamentals, our
techniques in this game because he's not the only big guy. Naturally,
they only have one guy over four hundred pounds, but
they've got plenty of three thirty three forty guys on
that interior defensive line that that we're gonna have to
contend with.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
But he said they only have one guy over four hundred,
over four hundred.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
But got other big guys.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
Is one of the guys who might have to go
up against Desmond Wise and is Cam Williams, And Sark
was asked about Cam, who has been starting throughout the
season but has had some difficulty with penalties either a
false starts or holds, or there was an unsportsman like
conduct when he got an altercation. So how about what
it's been like working with Cam Williams to try to
reduce the number of penalties and keep him effective on
(11:19):
the offensive front.
Speaker 5 (11:20):
Yeah, and you know, I think again, it's it's a
it's him playing with the utmost confidence. You know, he's
a first year starter, you know, who's you know, he's
going to be making his ninth career start Saturday, and
so you know a lot of times when a guy's in,
you know, year three of your program, we think, well
he's experienced. Well he's experienced on the practice field, Maybe
(11:42):
there wasn't as much experience on game day and some
of those things that come along with game day. And so,
you know, I think just maintaining that that mental intensity,
maintaining that focus, and maintaining that confidence uh to play
the way that he's capable of playing the game.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
He's very talented young man.
Speaker 5 (12:00):
He's a great teammate, and so you know, I'm looking
forward to him seeing the growth in him in the
second half of this season.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
All right, coming up, we're gonna hear Sark.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Yeah, he finally was asked about the college football playoff rankings.
I asked him about Actually MS Jean, who was there,
had the question card about his impressions that you can
hear that A long warned weekly coming up at seven
o'clock tonight, but from the media Zoom today we'll hear
sarks thoughts on the college football playoff rankings and a
couple other topics with regard to Texas and Florida this
week right here on Sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone.
