Speaker 1 (00:00):
Craig Wade, joined by the producer Cameron Parker. Did you
watch Sunday Night Football last night?

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Watch? I did?

Speaker 3 (00:09):
In Texas fans, welcome to butt hurt Nation. Kewboy's probably
welcome you in. He had he had four interceptions and
with the first half right, five in the first two
and a half quarters. That's right, And me and my
friends were texting about it. But Craig, I always felt
like the Linschnicle are still in this game, you know,
And I think collins Worth talked about it.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
In the third quarter. Offense just went dormant.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Especially in the second half, and this has kind of
been a trend. But they keep winning, so you're kind
of like, well, you know, they keep winning, so you
need to really talk about it, you know. I don't know.
And they lost the Jets, but hey, Thursday night Football,
short turnaround, must win for New York. The New York
It's absolutely destroyed yesterday. What a disgusting game. Now the

(00:56):
text have lost two games in a row. Now, I
know Onnico Collins digs out for the rest of the season.
But if you're a Texans fanser, starting no wonder about
this offense, Craig, because it's I mean, they haven't scored
in the second half a touchdown the second half since
was it week six?

Speaker 2 (01:11):
What I read? Correct?

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Yeah, So let me tell you, coming at it from
a different perspective. I'm watching that game, and all that
keeps rolling through my mind was waiting on that for
those of you.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Who were saying the Rams did.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Did that Jared Goff dirty by trading him and by
the way, they gave up an awful lot to get
Matthew Stafford, because I heard that a lot when things
were really really going well for the Lions, uh and
and back then, my only response was, well, they got
what they wanted. The Rams went all in, they got him,
and and they went on and won their Super Bowl.

(01:58):
Uh and so that you know, maybe the Lions are
finally cashing in on it.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
But watching him last night, the.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Other thing that kept going through my mind is, this
is the Jared Goff who played for the Rams, who
would make the old time right.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Not for five in a game.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
I mean that was his all time personal worst. He
thrown four in a game as a Ram. But I
kept saying, this is the guy who was inconsistent in
his time in Los Angeles to where and they said, well,
he led him to the super Bowl. Yeah, he led
him to all the three points in the Super Bowl game.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
I three, it's a rare win win trade for both franchises.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
I think it was. I think it was.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
I think the Lions definitely did well last night. Notwithstanding,
I think they did well. They came out of it
well with it and the extra draft capital they got.
And the Rams got a quarterback who did indeed lead
them too and winning a Super Bowl. And by the way,
he's playing pretty good right now, playing incredible. We'll see

(02:58):
how he does tonight against the Miami Dolphins. Uh so,
we'll see. But anyway, my point was that it isn't
all lopsided one way or the other way. That's and
and trades rarely, you know, uh, trades rarely are as
good as that.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
It's a huge win win for both sides. But in
this case, I think it was Barry Jones.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
He hasn't won a trade tints what herschel Walker.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
And Jimmy made that deal.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Okay, So, so j Jerry was automatically.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Jerry wasn't the GM back then. Jimmy did all the
personnel moves. That's why Jerry that's part of the reason
why Jerry burned hot about this deal about how he
knew football jocks and socks and how five hundred guys
could coach this team and all the other crap that
he said, and then he decided he was going to
run the team, uh the personnel behind it. So anyway,

(03:54):
that was it's all a part of that Jerry apparently.
And unfortunately, I'm told it doesn't look like any any
sound of this has survived because Cameron checked and he's
pretty good at tracking this stuff down. But Jerry apparently
got really testy. You know, he does that he holds

(04:16):
court down there, like in that tunnel area down outside
of the locker rooms. You don't see it from inside
the steam You've got to be down in the bowels
of the stadium to see where that is outside like
you've seen that area before you can, and he just
kind of stops and does a session there in the hallway. Well,
and he's been doing that, you know, for years, and

(04:41):
he's starting to get a little testy. And somebody asked
him yesterday about the sunlight and being a problem for
the cowboy receivers, and his response was something like, what
we've known about it for years or something.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
Yeah, I have the entire conversation your courtesy of joey
Epstein from the Yahoo Sport, who I believe is a
lifetime long corn. So he comes out and, apparently unprompted
Craig before even a reporter first asks him a question,
he goes on.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
He starts talking.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
He says, quote, we know where the sun's going to
be when we decide to flip the coin or not,
So we know where the damn son's going to be
in our own stadium. End quote. Reporter asks, well, why
not put curtains in? Quote, Well, let's just tear the
damn stadium down. But another one, you're kidding me. Everybody's
got the same thing. Every team comes in here and

(05:32):
has the same issues. They know where the son's going
to be. So our team has the same thing. And
the quote next question, is it more on Mike Mike McCarthy,
Dallas Cowboys head coach for now for not understanding where
the sun is or not calling quote I'm not saying.
I'm saying the world knows where the sun is. We
get to know that almost a year in advance. So

(05:55):
someone asked me about the sun and what about the sun?
Where's the moon? We're fine, but everybody plays in the
sun out here.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
And I wish we had the audio that know know
where the damn son is? How about the moon? Why
don't we just tear down the place? That would be
Radio Gold because Jerry's radio Maybe he'll make reference to
it tomorrow when he's on in Dallas with his weekly
show with r J and John.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
That needs like a T shirt. I'm telling you, what
about the sun? Where's the moon?

Speaker 2 (06:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (06:30):
That's great, where's the moon? That's good stuff. Next time
my dad asked me, hey, where'd you put the keys at?

Speaker 2 (06:35):
I don't know?

Speaker 3 (06:36):
Where's the moon? The Dallas Cowboys owner and GM ladies
and jail.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Yeah, and the franchise is disintegrating. Well maybe not the franchise,
but his team on the on field product is. I
want you to think about something for a minute here, Cam,
I have a very close friend. His name is Mike Grimm.
Good guy. We were in high school together in North Carolina.
You got a chance to meet him, I did. Mike

(07:05):
lives in Portland, Oregon, or a suburb. I think he's
actually in a place called Happy Valley, Oregon. I think
that's where he lives, and he went to Oregon State
University became an engineer and has done it. Has a
really cool job with what he does for the city
of Portland and the water and all this other kind
of stuff. When we were in high school together, he

(07:29):
was right brain. I was left brain. He was all
the math and science. He brilliant, and of course I was,
you know, not so much on that, you know, the humanities,
the arts and the history, and then things like that
English and stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
I was.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
I was pretty good at that stuff, speech and drama
and ultimately broadcasting stuff.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
But we became fast friends.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
We worked together on the student newspaper, and we both
found out that we both had this big affinity for
the Dodgers, and we do when we've carried it all
throughout the years and all that other kind of stuff.
But Mike has been cursed in a way that I
have not. Mike has been a longtime Dallas Cowboys fan
ever since we were in high school, and so he
makes a trip every year. He picks a weekend when

(08:14):
both the Longhorns are at home and the Cowboys are
at home, and he comes down and he comes to
a long Horn football game and then he goes up
to the Cowboy game the next day. Now, there's been
some games he's come to that. Unfortunately we're not very
good in these parts. Like he was at that fifty
seven and fifty six loss to Kansas, and he was
at a couple others. But he was at this past

(08:35):
Saturday's game against Florida. Beautiful day for it, got a
chance to see, you know, the long horns really, you know,
hitting on all cylinders, the whole bit. They went and
we went and had some barbecue after the game. Terry
Blocks No, because he was headed north, had to get
on the road and we went to Southside over another Okay,
south Side market, so he yeah, but he came up,

(09:00):
he and his friend and we had some barbecue and
then they took off Harlington to be in person to
witness that yesterday.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Now, I will tell you this.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
Because he asked me every year if I want to
go to the Cowboys game afterwards, and my answer is
always no, I want to recover on Sunday or in
the case yesterday would have matter, had a basketball game
to do anyway, but I.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Know I don't want to pay that price to go.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
There and I'm a little bit spoiled on because I
get to work out of that network TV boot to
call the state championship games and so on and so forth.
But no, however, I'm here to tell you, Cameron Parker,
if someone said to me, you have to pay for
your ticket, but after the game you get to go
down in the tunnel and hear Jerry say, where's the moon?
I think I would have done it. I would have

(09:50):
done it, and I would have had a recorder on
because I would have wanted to hear Jerry go that
where's the moon? You know, we did just tear the
whole damn thing down. I think I would have done that.
I would have paid just fit to have the opportunity
for that. All Right, we're gonna hear from head coach
Steve Circasian up next on Sports Radio AM thirteen under
the Zone.
