Speaker 1 (00:00):
Craig Way alongside the producer Cameron Parker, and we're with
you up until five o'clock this afternoon, and then it's
a pretty busy time. Pretty busy time for a couple
of reasons. First of all, you should know that it
and I mentioned this last hour, but we'll remind everybody
of it again. Longgorn Weekly with Coach Sark comes your
(00:22):
way at six o'clock tonight, not on the air, that'll
be on the air tomorrow night, but we record the
program on Wednesdays, So tonight at six Pluckers the West
Campus location at twenty two twenty two, yeo, grand hope
to see out there. Ricky Williams is going to join
us tonight, So that's that's going on. Then in addition
to that, there's Texas Women's basketball, which is on one
(00:46):
oh three point one FM, Austin's eighties station tonight. That's
where Cameron will be. I'll be involved with the recording
of Long Worn Weekly with Coach Sark, So Roger Wawlis
will step in for me to call the Texas women's
game tonight against the Lamar Cardinals. And then for the
women this weekend, they get their first really good sized
test to go to Chicago to play Paul. Now that
(01:10):
game on Sunday does not tip off until six thirty
Sunday evening. You remember why I told you why it's
not tiping until six thirty.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
The Bears the Bears.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
I didn't even see who the Bears are playing, but
there it doesn't matter. Yeah, the Bears are at home.
Might be Green Bay.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Actually, really, I think they're getting into their visional, visional
part of the schedule because they haven't played anybody. Yep'
screen Bay. Wow, you might wander down there or some
Soldier Field. Have you been? I've never been in, so
that'd be fun. Yeah, bucket list.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
Uh yeah, the Bears have a noon game, he said,
what's that got to do with Texas women's basketball? They're
playing at the Paul who plays at wind Trust Arena,
which is not far from Soldier Field and they share
a big parking lot.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
So the Blackhawks play and they play at the United Center, right,
that's correct? With the Bulls. That balls?
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Yeah, that balls, that's exactly right, that Bears. That's where
in that where they had the or where was the
where was the uh draft? The Champions Classic play the
last night isn't.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
That Atlanta State Farm Arena is State Farm? Yeah, Kirk
Cousins there in his goofy sweater. Yeah, it was Atlantic
goofy sweater.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Anyway, they share a parking lot the Paul with wind Trust,
and so the game was originally I think it was
gonna be noon or one o'clock, but because the Bears
are kicking off at noon, it wasn't gonna work for parking.
So yeah, so it's six point thirty Sunday evening and
you'll hear that on one or three point one. But anyway,
that's that's what's going on. So it's a busy time.
(02:50):
It's what I like to refer to as the overlap
portion of the season. Longhorn men's basketball, Uh, impressive enough
now again speaking of Chicago, Chicago State obviously not a
world beater, but but it was good to see Texas
go out be very aggressive right from the start, jumped
(03:12):
right in and today, first day of the early signing period,
Rodney Terry's staff signed a consensus top fifty national prospect,
John Clark. It's his name from Houston. He's a forward
six and thirty pounds forward, plays at Link Academy. That's
(03:33):
where Trey Johnson was. He had played at Cline Kane
his freshman through junior seasons. That's the high school where
Jaydan blues from Cline Kane in the Houston area. But anyway,
he's a six nine forward and earned all of the
(03:57):
das Performer recognition on the twenty twenty four Adida's three
SSB circuit this past summer and competing for tj fod
Elite DJ's team out of that. So anyway, that's that's
the early signing there for the men and the women
also had an early signing and it's a big one
(04:20):
top five recruit Alia Crump. She had committed to Texas
home back. She's from Shackape, Minnesa, Minnesota. Ranked number five
on the espnW Top one hundred list six to one
guard averaged twenty four and a half points, eight rebounds,
four steals, three assists and leading her high school Minnetonka
(04:43):
to the twenty twenty four for a state championship. She's
a two time All State honoree team captain, selected the
twenty twenty four Max Preps Minnesota Player of the Year,
and named the watch list for the twenty twenty four
twenty five Nate Smith Trophy Girls High School Player of
the Year.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Watch so saw her win that state title game in
a room with Fick Schaeffer and the women's basketball team
last season, Agaana say of Missouri, Oh yeah, that's.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
Right, that's exactly right. When that was going on Minnetonka.
When I hear in Minnetaka, you know what I think of?
Did you ever see the movie Purple Raid? No, I've
heard the song before by friends. Okay, well it came
from that's the soundtrack and all that. But so he's
telling what's her name. I guess it's Apolonia. I guess
he talked about when he's on the motorcycle, said, you
(05:30):
have to this prince actually in the movie. Oh yeah,
he's the star of it. And he tells her she
has to purify herself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka.
And so she takes off her well she has on
underwear and runs and jumps in the in the lake
and it's freezing cold. He goes, but because why what
by But and she goes and jumps It's okay, and
he goes, but that's not Lake Minnetonka. So it makes
(05:55):
me think about that but anyway, she's Olia Crumps from
Minnetonka High School.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
All right, we're gonna shift back to.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Football, I promise, and we're gonna talk about this Texas
Arkansas matchup. Joining us will be the play by play
voice of the Arkansas Razorbacks, Chuck Barrett. That's up next
when we continue here on sports Radio AM thirteen under
the Zone and the iHeartRadio app.
