Speaker 1 (00:00):
Some NFL notes quarterback notes. How about the Colts. They're
going back to Anthony Richardson at quarterback. I mean, I'm
guessing they're thinking that that's a better option than Joe Flacco,
thirty nine year old Joe Flacco. I mean, well, you know,
they made that change two weeks ago, and now they're
going to go back. Shane Steikin said they've worked with

(00:23):
Richardson to take a greater command of his off the
field preparation and attention to detail. It sounds like a
conversation had with Kyler Murray, and over the last two
weeks he's made strides in those areas, big time strides.
Are becoming a pros pro, that's what they say.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
I think there was a thought that, Okay, maybe there's
still some nothing to tank for a Flaco. I mean
lit Cleveland to a playoff berth this last season. You know,
looked okay to start the year, but then three straight losses,
did not look good against Buffalo whatsoever, and not look
good against Minnesota Houston. So I mean, you spent a
top ten draft pick on Richardson, he did not play

(01:00):
last season for most of the year because of the injury.
You know he just needs time to development. He's a
Kyle that came in Craig and he played what nine
starts and nine starts at Florida as a starting quarterback.
So you've already wasted a first round draft pick. Flaco's
not the guy. It's smart to just go ahead and
let him play this season. You're four and six. I know,
I know there's an outside chance at a wild card,

(01:21):
but come on, realistically, you're gonna get to the playoffs
to what lose in the first round. So go ahead
and spend this season looking at what you got with
Anthony Richardson and if it doesn't work out, okay, twenty
twenty five draft comes into play and look at a
quarterback or or signing. But you know, what's the point
in keeping him Flacco out there and letting a top
ten draft pick just rotten the bench not getting any better?

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Why not let Sam Ellinger have a shot.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
That's what I've been saying. I've been dexing my colts bodies, like,
where's Ellinger?

Speaker 4 (01:48):
Atty? What's going on here?

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Yeah? The Raiders on?

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Sammy Antonio Pears announced today the Raiders are sticking with Gardner.
Minshew as their quarterback. You know, they come off the
bye week. Minshew had been benched. As I read one somewhere,
Minshew and his twelve turnovers had been benched.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
Yeah, it is the way it was.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
And Antonio appears that he was the quotes. Listen.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
When we brought in Gardener, we expected, obviously the play
that we had seen in the past, and at some
point you've got to give a guy confidence. And there's
been times, obviously with turnovers and other things that have
taken place where we made decisions to either put him
on the bench or go to another quarterback. But this week,
I felt like Gardner gives us the best opportunity to
move forward. He has every opportunity to go out there
and help us get to a win. Is it two year,

(02:40):
twenty five million dollar deal they signed him? So you know,
Ad O'Connell had been playing some and you know, so.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Now I wonder who Bill Belichick signs a quarterback for
the Raiders next season. That's that's so I'm curious.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Hey, I thought I thought you were convinced that Belichick
was going to be the next coach of the Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Are you're saying it's the Sanders down.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
I don't know what Jerry's gonna do.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
I mean, he's still looking at the moon right now, wondering,
you know, is it a crescent moon? Okay, crescent moon?
Then we go after like moon. If it's not a
crescent moon, it's Dion. Yeah, I don't know if Dean,
I mean, I guess depends on I feel like Deon's
gonna pull a Lebron here, and like, okay, wherever I go,
you gotta draft my son at quarterback, right. You know,

(03:23):
it kind of seems like the thing that would happen.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
Uh what was it who that was saying?

Speaker 1 (03:29):
What the what the Cowboys should do is uh hire
Dion as coach and make and make Shader uh their
top draft pick.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
And you're paying Dak Prescott fifty million dollars sixty million
dollars to do what?

Speaker 4 (03:45):
Hold a clipboard? Yeah? Right?

Speaker 1 (03:47):
And and I think the Cowboys would be better serve
drafting Travis Hunter.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Or an offensive lineman I can maybe block and keep
Dak from dying on the field.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
Got some issues, you know, It's.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Interesting Craig real quick, you know, looking at right now
the quarterback spot for next year, like it keeps changing,
you know, I don't know who's gonna be the top quarterback.
It's probably going to be somewhere along around the lines
of Sanders, cam Ward, Quinn, Carson Becks.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Don't you think he's played.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
So But I think teams will end up talking themselves
into him because the quarterback draft class is so bad
this year and people fall in love with the con like,
if he has a great combine, he'll go in the
first round. I think similarly, even though he's been awful,
but I feel like with the weakness of the quarterback class,
what we see Travis Hunter go one, well, we see
because the first pick is going to end up with

(04:40):
what probably a team that already has a quarterback, correct,
I mean, look at it is.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
Who's gonna be the first roar roll pick? Is it
going to be? It might be the Giants? Actually so
well right now, right it be the Jaguars.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
They're paying Trevor Lawrence fifty five million dollars and out
Giants number two, so they would have to go quarterback
number one. But you know, I'm curious. It's gonna interesting
to see who will be the first overall pick this season.
If it's a team that needs a quarterback, do you
roll the dice on too door, Sanders, do you trade down?
You know what's going to happen.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
Speaking of the quarterbacks, JJ McCarthy underwent a second knee
surgery this week, trying to recover from that torn meniscus.
That's really weird that a torn meniscus, not a torn
acl but a torn meniscus would require two surgeries. It
was described as a I don't know what this is,

(05:33):
but I'm going to say it biologic or biologic injection
intended to address swelling in the knee that developed after
the increase in activity. During the rehab process, doctors found
no other concerns. I've no changes to McCarthy's recovery timetable,
meaning he remains on track to return for twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
So he had add that.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
You know that the knee injury in pre season and
he's been participating in team meetings. You know, a second
knee surgery. Is that kind of like a second Tommy John?

Speaker 4 (06:09):
I No, No, Actually, is he going to start.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Being able to throw a sweeper like Walker Bueller now
that he's now that he's had two TJ surgery, A
knuckle curve, you know, something like that, quarterback issues. That's
why I brought them up as quarterback is because seems
like everybody's had It's that there was a weird article
today I saw on ESPN about how the Jets and

(06:34):
everything's just gone radio silent on Aaron Rodgers, and he's kind.
I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. I think
it's about I think it's because the Jets are bad. Well,
it's because the Jets are bad. That's why they're bad.
They're not performing at at the level that many thought
they would.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Although I can't say as I.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
Was not surprised.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
No, I wasn't real high on the Jets. I don't
think either of us picked it. Did you pick the Jets?

Speaker 4 (07:02):
I don't think it would be a playoff team.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
You picked them as a wildcard.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
I how the Bills would win the division. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
I think both of us are going to miss fire
on our wildcards because I had the Dolphins as a wildcard.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
They're three and six, the Bengals two. I don't think
they're going to make it.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
It's going to be difficult.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
All right.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
